We adopted two dogs from MaxFund recently and stopped into Struttin' Pup for help with everything we needed - food, potty training, leashes, harnesses, treats, nail clippers, etc. Their staff was so incredibly helpful and they gave us plenty of sample foods to test out. We go there regularly now for everything Sandie and Jimmy need. They are eco-focused and have great natural treats for any pet you love. They wash pups there too, and have a self-wash, but we haven't tried that yet. The owners are so nice, you'll be back for more with your pups in tow. read more

After the groomer clipped my dog's toenail down to the quick and his paw was all bloody, she tried to blame it on me. She said that I brought him in with an injured paw. Not the case at all. Also, very rough with my 14 year old dogs. Never again will I go here. read more

I used to come here quite often and was always pleased with their customer service. I haven't had a dog for quite some time and just got another recently so I decided to stop by. In the last few weeks I've come in looking for some treats and some accessories. Both times I was greeted and helped by a young teenage girl. Initially she seems friendly and willing to help. Let me state that a store like this needs to have very loyal and willing employees to take care of their customers. The result of her service was the polar opposite, in fact, inching very close to insulting. She had zero idea where things were located, what items to suggest, or how to handle almost any inquiry. While walking around, I saw other employees would be busy doing nothing more than taking care of business, and I caught a glimpse of her wasting time on her cell phone. She would seemingly try her best to avoid helping out the other employees. I have worked customer service jobs for many years, so to observe this kind of behavior stings especially hard. In line for checkout, the customer in front of me proceeded to ask about special ordering some sort of food and she looked puzzled beyond belief, then said "hold on" and walked away. I caught her ROLLING HER EYES while walking away!!! Any customer service establishment that continues to employ a person like this truly needs to be pointed out to others. To loyal customers this fashion of handling their needs should come as an unbelievable smack in the face. After displaying some of the worst employee-customer interaction I've ever witnessed, the customer proceeded to ask her how long she had been working there and she said it's been over a YEAR!! WOW!! This was truly the tipping point and what prompted me to write this review. If management can't possibly pick up on this lack of service and poor treatment, then the rest of their day to day decisions can't possibly be anywhere near positive, let alone average. I won't be coming back to this place and will be advising many of my dog-loving pals in the Lafayette/Boulder area to steer away towards any other dog boutique that prides themselves in selecting employees with the proper caliber that the consumer deserves. read more

I took my Goldendoodle here on August 15th for a grooming, made my appointment in advance and took him in and gave my scheduled groomer instructions as to what I wanted done. I paid in advance and the service was supposed to be full service including a nail trim. I got a call saying my dog was ready and went in to pick him up, I heard the counter person tell the person who was going to the back to get the groomer that they'd switched groomers because someone else came in and requested the one I had scheduled. When my dog came out I noticed immediately that she hadn't trimmed around his eyes the way I asked and asked her to go back and re-do it. She came back out and it was marginally better so I took him and left. After I got home, I noticed that she didn't trim his nails or pluck the long hairs out of his ears, he had a large gap in the cut under the tail and the entire cut was uneven. I called back and asked to speak to the manager and was told she wasn't in, I described my problem and was told she'd call me the next morning. Within 5 min after I hung up, the groomer who'd done the poor job called me apologizing and asking me to bring him in and let her "fix it". Why would I want to do that when she'd done a terrible job to start with? I waited around for the manager to call the next day and she never called back so I called them, the problem groomer answered the phone and put me on hold after I asked to speak to the manager and no one ever came back on the line - I waited 10 minutes. The next day I called again and got the same, leave a message and she'll call you - that's been weeks ago and they have never called. So, I'm out $100 for a terrible grooming job, and the manager can't be bothered to call me. I'll be going somewhere else from now on. read more

I am on the fence about Struttin Pup. The self wash tubs are great & I appreciate them although they are often not well cleaned & I have emerged from there flea bitten. Fortunately the fleas only bit me, my dogs were ok. On occasion I get good customer service (Ginny is a treasure) but usually the staff is very unaccomodating and even downright rude. When I called this morning to see if there was a tub open the phone was picked up but no one said anything. A strange and unfriendly way to conduct a business. I will still go there for the self wash tubs but really nearby Bark Avenue is the better place for healthy foods and treats and has a staff that actually knows how to fit coats, harnesses, collars, etc. read more

Struttin' Pup has been awesome since they opened and every day since. I have utilized their knowledge, truly amazing selection and above all fantastic customer service! They truly care about us as clients. They listen and can guide you to the choices to meet the needs of your companion animals. They are also a business that supports shelters and rescues! As a volunteer, and a person with 5 companion animals, they are simply the best! They sponsor events and invite shelters and rescues to bring adoptable critters on their scheduled event days. They donate a percentage of the proceeds to that day's participants. They help carry products to your car and watch carefully over the products they carry. Human grade products for your canine & feline friends are only brought in if they meet their stringent standards. I have serious guilt over "Maggie's Macaroon dog treats. Organic coconut and I even have a dog named Maggie?!? Lol, seriously I am happy when I don't eat them all and actually "share" with Maggie The do it yourself bath area and their professional grooming services are fantastic! They are like family to me. I took my cairn terrier here a few weeks ago for a full grooming. Since this was the first visit, I spent some time with the groomer discussing what cut I was looking for and even showed her pictures. 45 minutes later I received a call that my terrier was ready for pick-up. I was very unhappy with the grooming. Her coat was uneven, the legs had not been touched, her nails were not trimmed. I spoke to the cashier and the groomer about my complaints but my words fell on deaf ears. So I requested that the owner call me the next day. I'm still waiting. Thank goodness there are plenty of grooming alternatives in my area. read more

We took our rescue pup there last July. (We have been to another groomer since and realized how great the Struttin' Pup groomer is.) They had me bring him in to an early appt so he wouldn't be stressed by other dogs. The groomer only took an hour and did a GREAT job. Cost was $40. read more

Awesome friendly place. I don't know who the previous reviewers got on the phone... but I think they are gone now. I have never ever encountered an impolite, rude, or incompetent person. In fact, just now they happily answered the phone 4 minutes before opening time (I was expecting to leave a message). Super job grooming my cockapoo. Great selection of natural foods and really adorable treats, beautiful collars & leashes, and super cute toys. My dog excitedly walks in the door every time we go. That's the real test! read more

Great place to buy food!!! Buying good food for your pup is very pricey but struttin pup helps bring that cost down a little. They offer a frequent card for every $250 spent $5. Plus some of the brands they carry offer buy so many (usually 11) bags get one free. My dogs have been in the same brand for awhile, and they were the first to offer me this.. Sadly I haven't tried their grooming but the prices are cheaper then anywhere around. Everyone in the shop is always extra helpful just ask if they haven't already said hi :) read more

Just came from the Struttin pup where a groomer called Suzy cut my Bichon Shih tzu's hair . I am disappointed. I ask her to leave him a round face and not cut off all of his beard and he came out and his beard was completely gone. His hair is uneven and choppy. I paid $50.00 for his hair cut plus a 6.00 tip. The last time I was there I think someone called Becca cut it and he looked so good. He looked like a prince. I could have done the cut my self today. I don't want to be mean to anyone but someone needs to take a little more time to look at the styles of haircuts for dog. I pay to have a style not just all the hair cut off and I brush my dog before I bring him so that they have more time to concentrate on the cut. The other girl did the legs so perfect little beautiful flutes this cut is just choppy. I don't know if that means dull clipper or I just want to get this over with. His beard is not symmetrical with his cheeks. I know they want to do a 1 hour hair cut but if you can't make the dog even all the way through then you need to take longer. Maybe they should start giving their groomers an hour and half so they have more time to go over the hair cut and make it look professional . Its been choppy every time except with this one girl Becca. I can't say enough about how proud I was when she cut his hair. Having said all of that. I like the place the Strut-tin pup. The help is always friendly and nice. The price is pretty normal compared to others. They have good products and good advice for your dog. I have never said anything about all the other rough cuts that I have gotten there because my dog is skittish and I am just happy that he had a place that he can go and feel safe and he feels comfortable at. I just want to get a professional quality haircut. That is all I am asking. Its not easy for me to come up with the $56.00. I would like to get a great haircut not just a mediocre one. I will still go back though. I hope I can get Becca next time. read more

I used to be a loyal customer. In the last few months the customer service has become increasingly poor. Not the only dog wash/food place in town. I have called to reserve a tub, ( 3 separate times now) only to arrive and they gave it to someone else and I was 'welcome to wait'. I called with 2 dogs to reserve, because I do have other things to do with my time than to wait for their convenience. Clearly customers no longer matter that much. I had been a very strong and loyal customer since they opened the shop in 2002. Now... no longer interested in buying even a sow's ear there. Too bad, I used to love this shop. read more

so sad that they not only did a horrible disservice to my little dog, but that they lack pure, common decency of acknowledging my two emails, or offering an apology. it is not like i am a new customer, i have taken my dog there enough times to be taken seriously when a very bad job was done. they know they did wrong and are too arrogant to admit it and accept responsibility. only a total amiture would have cut, chopped, shaved wrong places and totally ruined the look of my shih tzu, for a long, long time. my regular groomer accepted my dog and acknowledged the three things i wanted done. i specifically told her not to take any hair off my dogs ears (the hair was nearly shaved off them). i am positive that she did not do the grooming and some total inept person chopped and cut her way to calling it a grooming, for which i was charged full price, plus a good tip. my regular groomer did not bring my dog to me, which was a red flag that i should have questioned at the time. i am sure she was too ashamed to give my little dog to me in that condition. this is a service that has no ethics, so buyer beware. read more

Unfortunately I had a bad experience this morning with the self wash tubs. Last time I came in the staff was very knowledgeable and polite. My dog won't tolerate the regular dryer as it is very strong and doesn't have a low setting, so the staff brought over a floor dryer. That is the main reason I came back, to get my dog fully dry and brushed out which I can't do at home. The staff person seemed annoyed that I was doing self wash in the first place and wasn't helpful. I mentioned how great the floor dryers are and she quickly said they are for the groomers only. Then one of the groomers snatched up the one that wasn't being used. After I was done washing my dog I asked if I could use a dryer when they were done. They had several dryers on one dog to be sure to use them all. The groomers were very rude and treated me like I shouldn't be back there since I wasn't paying for a grooming. I told the front desk and they brushed me off and said those were expensive dryers and I shouldn't have been allowed to use them last time. I won't be back to this store. The Happy Beast in Lafayette is cheaper, friendly and they don't seem annoyed when you use self wash instead of grooming. I live very close to Struttin Pup and have purchased pet supplies there for years. If you are a premium store with premium prices, you need to have impeccable service. Disappointed for sure! read more
