I have taken many dogs there and have always had a great experience! All my dogs looks amazing when Dan is done!

Been taking all of our dogs there for 20 years at least. Dan is best groomer, kindest to your dogs and very patient with them we have taken multiple dogs of different sizes and breeds. He is the best by far. read more

When reading the reviews, I'm confused! Dan has been grooming our Bernese Mountain Dog for the past 5 years. Dan was recommended by a dear friend who has taken all their Burner's (four generations) to Dan for grooming ... We love his service and attention to details. We have never questioned his commitment to caring for our dog or providing excellent service. We have, and will continue to recommend Dan to our friends. Leave a message and he always get back within a day. lori read more

We've been customers for several years and have recommended it often. It's a small operation so there isn't someone available to answer the phone all the time but we've never had a problem getting appointments set up. Our dogs aren't big fans of grooming but they seem to be very comfortable here. The only downside is trying to get back onto northbound Hwy 119 during the morning rush into Boulder! read more

I can't tell you how good our Shepard looks. He is so happy. Dan did a great job on our DIJO. Poor dog hadn't been groomed in a couple of years. We inherited DIJO from my dad who passed away. So needless to say DIJO had been through a lot. He's a new dog! Heartfelt thanks to Gunbarrel grooming. We will be back. Thank you so much! read more

Terrible service and rude. Scheduled an appointment for my dogs over a week before - they were supposed to be picked up from Gunbarrel Vet Clinic (which we LOVE!!! Great boarding!) They totally forgot the appointment, and when I called to try and get them in, they hung up on me. They obviously don't need the business - they are rude and don't deal with customers well at all. So if you like accommodating them and waiting a long time, then paying a lot of money for a dog bath, they might be the place for you. read more

We had a great experience here! They were able to see my mini schnauzer two days after I called for an appointment, were super speedy (he was done in about 3 hours), and left him a little bit longer than what he's used to, thus avoiding that weird period where he has to grow out a little bit to be cute again. It was around $40, which is higher than what I was paying in Savannah, but that seems to be a little lower than the norm in the Boulder area. Very friendly people, who really seemed to care about him... We will definitely be going back. read more

This place is great. He always gets my dog in on short notice for the wash and towel dry. Great service and really friendly. Convenient location and good pricing. Highly recommended. read more

Belligerent, nasty to my wife. Wouldn't take more money when offered due to his complaining of their Condition. First groomer in Boulder who wasn't happy to groom them. Took them there due to convenient location. Our mistake. Life to short to deal with unpleasant businesses. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about this small business! I even feel the need to add the some of these one star reviews seem to me like they must be fake. The man I've worked with there has always been a pretty quiet, kind, animal oriented person. As others have said, sometimes you have to leave a message, but I've always gotten calls back and it's absolutely worth the quality attention they give to my pup. I have an 11.5 old German Shepherd who has hip dysplasia and therefore isn't a huge fan of getting groomed. Here it always seems like they're patient with her and somehow even get her tail brushed out (which I know from personal experience takes some patience!). read more

Dan is a caring, dog loving groomer. We have taken our pets there for over 15 years. Our last doggie is now 15 and doesn't much like getting groomed. Dan takes incredible care with her and lets us know in detail how she does and what his recommendations are. We wouldn't take our baby to anyone else. So glad he is close and we couldn't recommend him more highly. His love of dogs and level of caring for them is unsurpassed by anyone. If he is grouchy at you it might be because he worries about your pet. He cares that much. Mary W. read more

I've been going to GunBarrel Grooming for many years - first with my Wheaton Terrier and now with my Wire Fox Terrier. The owner, Dan, is kind and loving to his "subjects". My dogs LOVE going there which tells me a lot. He is always willing to listen to what I want done and is very receptive and gives great suggestions if I am unsure. I highly recommend! read more

Great grooming experience! Piper, has a lot of hair and he was able to get at her undercoat, which isn't easy to do. Moving to Golden, but would consider coming back for grooming! read more

Great place with good prices. My dog HATES to be groomed, but they make him as comfortable as possible. The downside is you have to your dog there super early in the morning & pick them up on the afternoon. read more

I can't say enough great things about Gunbarrel and the people that work there. Everyone is extremely nice, knowledgable and caring. We board our dogs at the kennel when we are out of town and see Dr. Gustafson and his staff. We have had medical issues with both of our our dogs as they have aged, and the peace of mind that we have by knowing they are in great hands in invaluable. We are so grateful for Gunbarrel Veterinary Hospital! read more

We have been going to see Dan at Gunbarrel Grooming for many years. He is a no nonsense guy and that is one of the things we like about him. He LOVES dogs and therefore is not shy about telling you if your dog is not being adequately taken care of by his/her human(s). So if your dog is in bad shape expect him to say so and respect that he cares enough about your dog to have his/her back!! :) His prices are VERY reasonable and we highly recommend him. read more

This place was recommended by a friend, and I'm not disappointed. It's considerably out of the way for me, but it's worth the effort. My dog loves to be groomed and is always happy to see Dan. As I read the negative reviews here, I had to wonder if someone was impersonating Dan on the days these people had bad experiences. For one thing, reviewers refer to 'the people there' in plural, and I've never known anyone to be there or answer the phone but Dan. He's always professional and does a great job with my scruffy-looking part-Pyrenees dog. I strongly recommend Dan. read more

I brought my dog in for grooming after Petsmart turned him away for "nipping" during grooming. I got his name from someone at the dog park with a similar breed. They advised me to get my dog a sedative for grooming, as that's what they did. The vet gave me a sedative and I made the appointment. I told the groomer the situation. He got angry and said he didn't believe in giving dogs sedatives. Ok. Fine. I take my dog in and immediately get attitude. I brush it off thinking it's all in my head. Come to pick him up and get more attitude. I'm told some crazy story about how people at the dog park are talking about my dog needing grooming. I leave. I Give myself a half an hour to regroup. I call the groomer to tell him that was not an ok experience, and that he's dilusional about the dog park. He starts screaming at me telling me my dogs never been groomed in his life (not true as the Humane Society groomed him just prior to adoption), he tells me Petsmart was lying to me, and continues with I'm "Koo koo koo koo koo koo" before hanging up. Wow. read more

Used the drop-in service many times. Great deal, quick service. Very glad they are in the neighborhood.

As my family has been a loyal customer of Gun Barrel groomers for 20+ years, it saddens me to write a poor review. I'm appalled by the lack of respect I received on the phone this morning. Being accused and blamed for a mixed up appointment (that happened to be their mistake) instead of being helped, then asked to never return after almost 2 decades of business is abysmal. Would I recommend this groomer to a friend based on results? Absolutely. Gun Barrel Grooming has always done a phenomenal job. However I would never recommend this company again after being so poorly treated. The employee said, "Why do you even care so much?" While I understand it's a dog grooming service, I expect to be treated kindly. As I am also employed in the customer service industry I would never dare speak to a client that way. I understand losing one customer may not mean anything, however it's unfortunate for someone to verbally and emotionally shame you in the way I was. read more

It was a major disappointment. I made the appointment which took three days to book which is not the community standard. I told him the breed of the dog and came in for the appointment. I have an Australian terrier. The groomer said oh I don't do Yorkies and I didn't know your breed. He said I'm not good at it. I guess a groomer doesn't need the business. He turned me away. It was a complete waste of time and very unprofessional. I would try somewhere else for a better experience. I don't need to waste my time to support a business that doesn't need to work. It is also overpriced so check around for a better business all in all. The drop off/ front office is dirty and small. read more

This used to be a great place, but it's under new ownership. I agree with "Terrible Service and Rude" comment. It certainly does not feel like they need or want customers at the business. This review has nothing to do with the boarding or veterinary business, just the grooming place. You have to drop off your dog super early and then they want you to come pick them up early. I have no idea why they are even open until 3:30 if they take and finish all the dogs before noon. I won't be going back. read more

After some initially pleasant experiences here, I've now experienced why other reviewers steer people away from this business. Phone calls go unreturned, the staff is temperamental and I wouldn't trust them with my pets again. read more

I have taken my dog Ching-Ching to Gun Barrel Grooming all her life. They have done an excellent job of grooming and have taken extra care with my sweet Ching-Ching. Now that she has pasted on, we are going to take our new adopted 12 year old Shitsu, Mei-Li to them too. read more

The lady smelled like cigarettes and was visibly shaking when I brought my dog in for a simple nail trim. She cut his quick not once or twice, but three times. I wanted to scream and run out of there, but my manners got the best of me so I let her finish. I have a service dog who needs to be in tip top health at all times. This experience was horrid and it has taken us a few times going elsewhere to get the dog over the nail trimming trauma. Do not go there. There are so many other choices in Boulder. read more

Wow...I am still shocked at the treatment we received here. I called to set up an appointment. A woman named Linda called back and interviewed me to see if she would even let us bring our dog. She was very condescending and unpleasant. We seemed to pass so she said she would call back to make appointment on wed. On thurs night she left a message. I called back to accept the appointment time and asked that we be able to leave our girl, who is struggling with new places...she is a recent rescue...for a shorter time the first time. Linda called back with a long resentful rant and refused to see us. Today I called the owner to see why this could happen and he (Dan) immediately began SCREAMING at me on the phone! I have never had an experience like this in 40 years in Boulder. If this is how they treat people I can only imagine how they treat our sweet pets behind closed doors. And they can not tell us what is going on. BEWARE of this business. These are very abusive angry people. I am a Psychotherapist...I know it when I see it. read more
