Alana greeted us at the door at 730AM, and was so attentive and friendly! I spoke on my dog's behalf, as she doesn't speak English. First-time visitors, and Alana made our dog comfortable immediately, but also discussed the expectations and gave an accurate time that she would be done. This is a little place tucked away on a side street in boulder. We've been going here for a while and have never been disappointed in anyway. There one of a few places that actually let the dogs roam free and don't chain them up except to give them there hair cuts then there free to roam until picked up. Staff is always friendly and give our dogs extra rubs when they arrive. We really enjoy bringing our dogs here. read more

The Hydrant Groomers in Boulder are the Best Groomers! They do an excellent job and are very friendly. I love taking my dogs to them.

I always used to bathe my beagle myself, but my advancing age made that more difficult. And trimming toenails was a nightmare. I was always getting bitten. Love The Hydrant! They always do a great job, and although Alex (the beagle) isn't totally onboard with getting dropped off, he is always glad to see me and has never exhibited any signs of stress. I have no hesitation in recommending the Hydrant for bathing and toenail trimming. I don't have a dog who needs grooming, so I can only say that when I pick Alex up I get a chance to see other dogs who've been groomed and they always look great. And I wanted to let you know - because when a potential customer hasn't even walked into your doors yet - you want to exceed the friendly and helpful factor when they are asking questions about your facility. You don't tell them that they are "having a bad day" .... I was trained by the Walt Disney Company in customer relations - I had to talk to people all day long from all around the world with endless repetitive questions and snarky people who actually were having a bad day - and NEVER do you tell them that. Disappointed EVERY time I took Bailey, except when Jamie groomed him and she lasted less than a year there. No wonder --- I always found Alicia, the manager, to be rude and curt. Bailey was always sad when I picked him up and took awhile to get back to his normal playful self. I overheard the groomers complaining in the back room on more than one occasion --- not a great atmosphere, no wonder my little guy cowered when I took him in. Finally, I caught on! I brought my 12 pound cavalier mix to this place for her first experience at a groomer. She came back with bleeding cuts around her private area. I didn't notice until she seemed uncomfortable by stopping abruptly and licking herself and took a look to see what was going on. Very disappointing. read more

I brought my 75 lbs Labradoodle here for a shave, and they did a fantastic job! Although the price for cutting a doodle has increased heavily due to the demand, they kept it reasonable per market value, and my dog was very comfortable and happy after getting groomed. I have had three standard poodles over the course of thirty years and The Hydrant has taken amazing and loving care of all of my pups. I have always trusted the wonderful and friendly staff and adore Elisha and Valerie. The owner, Joy Bishop, has been like a second mom to my most recent dog Diablo. As the years have gone by and I've lost a few of my loved ones, they have been extremely supportive, sending cards and beautiful flowers. Thanks to the gals at The Hydrant! My dog went to another shop (chain) for a simple nail trim, the environment in the other place was at such a frenzied level that not only was my pal not able to relax for the trim but the dog before us in line couldn't handle it either. The Hydrant came to our rescue. I called from the crazy place's parking lot and lucky for me we were only a couple miles away from the Hydrant. They took us right away, the calm and collected environment did the trick. We were in and out in like 5 mins. and my dog was much happier! Best dog groomer in Boulder, hands down. I have two very, very fluffy Pomeranians and I've never seen such a professional grooming on them before. Before we found The Hydrant (recommended by The Dog Spot, our amazing doggy day care), we went to a few other places in town which were awful. The Hydrant is clean, the staff is friendly, and the dogs are "free range" in the "salon," not locked up in cages like some other places around. I love being greeted by happy people and happy dogs. i had been taking my dog here for almost 2 years, and the last time he was groomed they shaved him too much and he looked terrible. I complained but it went on deaf ears, they said he was matted, i beg to differ - i had recently brushed him and he wasn't matted, they just didn't want to take the time to groom him. i think they tend to get too busy and don't give your pet the attention for a good groom. it's always easier to just shave the dog... i will not go back. read more

I can not rave enough about The Hydrant. I have gotten my dog groomed in four different states at this point and no one has come close to doing the kind of job The Hydrant does! I love the gals at The Hydrant. I have two dogs who get so completely dirty and tangled and completely messed up on our hikes and they come out looking like a million bucks! One of my guys has bad back legs and when I've taken him to other groomers they yank and pull at his legs and he comes home limping. He's been to The Hydrant three times and he's happy as can be. They also get to run around the place with the other dogs instead of having to stay in a kennel--I've never seen such a relaxed and happy environment. I have tried so many other places from Arvada to Boulder to get my King Charles Spaniel groomed but it wasn't until I found the Hydrant that I was extremely happy each and every time I take Lucy there. They are always friendly and bald to see her. I especially like that they do not kennel the dogs while they are waiting to be picked up. Every one is just waiting together for their owner.
