Strike Force installed a new HVAC system for our house last summer, after prior year fixing 25-year-old system. They matched up the new system with the two-story house. Update on May 9th: Spoke to Tobi and resolved the issue to our mutual satisfaction. His prompt response to the concerns presented is a plus and a positive reflection his business practices. They are just way too pricey for my packet. Always shop around first. May 8th, 2028 So the AC was fixed, but ..... I feel that my wife was taken for a ride by the Strike Force. Replacing a compressor capacitor for $325.00?? That's a ten minute job equivalent to changing a light bulb. The capacitor itself is $8.00, that's eight dollars. I know because I replaced one myself and it took me five minutes. This time I was away from home. They charge $145 for a service call and $85 per pound of refrigerant. $640 total. They left the power outlet wide open on the rooftop and the AC is still leaking water from the condensation pipe. Granted that we didn't tell them that this is also a problem. read more

Update May 2018: My AC had been intermittently blowing warm air since a bad storm earlier this month and with 100 degree temps predicted for next week, I figured I should call Strike Force before the holiday weekend. Jon arrived at 9am this morning and, of course, the AC was blowing cool air. But, in about an hour, Jon figured out the issue & fixed it. And I greatly appreciate Tara for scheduling a next day appointment around my hectic work schedule. Original 2017 review: This morning, I awoke to my AC blowing warm air. I had used Strike Force before (thanks, Jon!) and, luckily, they were able to fit me in the same day. Jeff arrived & had the system blowing cold air in about an hour for a very reasonable price (especially given it was a Saturday). I appreciated being given the options & quotes before the work was done. I am also grateful he called the manufacturer to learn the blown capacitor in the system was the wrong size (installed before I moved in). As a woman with minimal knowledge about home repairs (although I have learned quite a bit in the past few years with this condo), I occasionally feel taken advantage of or spoken down to but that was not the case with Strike Force. I will definitely use them again since they gave my current AC another year of life (knock on wood). read more

Upgraded our HVAC systems. Sealed our ducts and air registers. Added a new return air vent, drain pain and increased duct sizing to one room. Toby has a wonderful crew. They were here much of the day installing a new furnace and A/C unit and taking care of some other much needed improvements. I can't stress how impressed I was with the whole process. I had originally leaned towards going with another company, but we had a problem with a plugged drain line over the Labor Day weekend. Water was dripping down through a door frame, and we called Toby since he'd been out once before (he was recommended by the contracting company we're using for our remodel - MBC Services) and was on our side of town. His responsiveness and what he charged for the trip (and follow-up) made up our minds. It was such a relief to get an honest opinion on what was wrong and not be gouged for a Sunday service call. Over the next couple of months, Toby and I talked via email, and we slowly settled on what was needed for this house. It was just a matter of getting some time available when our remodel was having downtime. He also met a bid from another company on some insulation work, so once our remodel is complete, he will be coming back for that. One thing that really impressed me was his willingness to discuss options. We had some concerns about some of the equipment, and we were able to work through the concerns and get something that would work with the new system going in and meet our needs. There were a couple of hitches at the start of the installation, and Toby was right on it correcting the problem, and seeing to it that we got the system we were paying for. When he had to leave to go to another job, his onsite lead was super to work with, easily handling what we needed done and answering questions for us as they came up. The last thing...and a very important one in my mind...is they left the job site very clean. While I can't say you couldn't tell they were here simply because we're in the middle of a remodel, they laid drop cloths, moved items that might come to harm, and treated my home with a lot of respect. When they were finished, there was nothing laying around that shouldn't have been. I also know that if I call Toby out, he's going to give me a straight answer. He's not padding what he's telling me to make more money. I can't think of anything more important than that. I trust him. I trust what he tells me. And that's as good as it gets in my opinion. Honesty in the ac/heating business is a dicey thing, but Toby has it down flat, and I highly, highly recommend calling him when you have a heating/air conditioning need. read more

One of the drivers that works here has really poor common courtesy and made me ride in the fast lane doing 55 when he had multiple chances to get over. When I get in front of the guy he gives me the finger. Great hire guys. I wouldn't use this company. I'd there's no common sense or common courtesy will they provide that in your home? read more

My A/C went out in August of 2014 and my wife was three months pregnant. Disaster. Toby came out, patched up the A/C, and had us up and running at 11:30PM and for a very reasonable price. He also set the expectations of what was likely to come over the next year or two, given our extremely old unit. Unfortunately the inevitable happened three months later. Toby and his team were incredibly professional, on-time, and efficient. When quoting the job, they were right in the middle on price. However, Toby presented several options with genuine pros and cons for each, actually steering my wife and I away from more expensive options that we originally thought were ideal. StrikeForce replaced the A/C unit, split the A/C duct work between upstairs and down with dampers, and installed two Nest systems to control the different zones. We were thrilled with the process and the results. I have been recommending StrikeForce to anyone who asks and will not deal with anyone else as it pertains to my Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC. The girl who answers phone top notch! The tech was here on time, professional and friendly. I used a $50 coupon from Yelp which lowered the cost of service call 1/3! The tech advised what was wrong and offered to fix it for $425 while also advising the part was caused to break by something else which couldn't be diagnosed until it was fixed first. I researched and found that to be true. So why the low star score? Because I used to sell HVAC and plumbing parts to contractors I know what parts cost. The part he was replacing was a $25 part (or thereabouts). I had pulled out my parts book so he knew I wasn't crazy when I asked, "So you're going to charge me $400 to install a $25 part?" He didn't respond with any kind of "well we use higher quality parts" or "it will take __ hours to fix". Instead, he just gave me an ultimatum of "or you can buy a new unit for $8,000". Then put the pressure on by acting as if he couldn't exit my house fast enough! I'm not an idiot and knew my unit was old and on its last legs, but I don't think it fair to put a customer in a pressured situation like that then not have the time of day to let them wrap that around their brain to make a decision. For the service call fee of $145, he didn't have the time of day to discuss this with me. In fact, he even told me the coupon the girl on the phone told me was good, was only for use on parts - when it clearly said on Yelp, "for a deal" and the girl on the phone said, "yes, you can use for your service call". When the tech left I called the girl at the office back. Again, she was super professional and friendly and did accept the coupon with no argument. The quote wasn't out of this world crazy but having a sales background I can tell you the number one rule is, "people buy from people they like" which means you have to take time to earn their trust. The salesman put me in a situation that made me immediately pressured, the opposite of earning trust. So low score. It would have been one star but the girl on the phone was great. I did buy a new system...from someone else. Edit: They sent me a check for $45 without me asking with a nice handwritten apology saying it wasn't about the money but keeping customers happy. I thought that was very nice and was even willing to up the stars from 2 to 3 just because they were offering without me asking. They did not ask me to change the rating either. I thought that was very big of them. However, it wasn't made out to my legal name so I called and asked the girl who answers the phone if she'd mind resending. She was very nice and said no problem. I waited for 3 weeks no check. I called again and she was again super sweet and said she forgot but no problem she'd sent the next day. Never got a check. Can't believe anything they say. It was a nice gesture that fell flat. read more

But they did refund us for the services they provided, so we were very happy about that. I may not like the work they do, but they are at least honest people, and that will take them far. read more

After their service, I did some research, and I was pleased to find that they used quality parts, and have done a fine job. Recently, I was having trouble with one of my A/C units, and contacted StrikeForce based on the yelp reviews. I scheduled a quote. Toby came out on time and quickly and professionally diagnosed the problem. I scheduled the repair and an inspection of all three of my units, and Toby and his crew arrived on time. The crew was professional and seemed to quickly fix the problem. The outside was wet, and I noticed that there was some mud tracked through the house, but it was not a lot and I own a vacuum--not a big deal. While the crew was there, I also asked them to install two power extender kits (that I supplied) so I could install new thermostats. I should have asked the price to install the two power extender kits beforehand, as it was $200 for ten minutes of labor when the crew was already at my house and no parts. I grumbled a little, and Toby knocked off $50. Again, not a big deal, I should have asked upfront. The crew left before ensuring everything was installed correctly, and I determined that the power extender kits were not installed correctly (because my thermostats would not power on). I immediately contacted StrikeFroce, within ~10 minutes of them leaving. Rather than coming back immediately to correctly finish the job, they waited about three hours to return. Toby inspected the wiring and it turns out that the wire I needed was already in the wall and I did not need the power extender kit. Toby removed the kits and finished installing the thermostats. While it was a bonus for them to install the thermostats, I am now $150 in on the kits that were never correctly installed. Now the thermostats are powered up, and they leave again. Again without ensuring the system is working correctly. I give the A/C a little time to cool off, but notice it is still blowing hot air. I text StrikeForce again to tell them the problem and they said "I guess I'll be back." After more waiting they come back and fix the problem. At this point I am a little frustrated that I missed an entire day of at the office for what should have only been a couple of hours and that I paid an extra $150 for nothing. But the A/C is working so I am happy. Several days later I review my invoice and notice there is a line to install a new drain pan for $675. The quantity is marked as "0" so it was not charged. I replied to the email ask about the charge as it was the first I have heard anything about the drain pan. StrikeForce replied and said that they recommended doing the "extra work" as the drain pan was rusted and the return air side was pulling air from the attic. If I would not have responded to the email and asked why this was on the invoice, I would have never known that more repairs were needed. How could they not bother to mention this: especially, when I had them inspect all three of my units to ensure everything was working properly. I responded to the email several days ago to gather more information, but have yet to hear back. read more

The project will be simple but figuring out where to do the vent is complicated and the guys were patient and explained every alternative.. I wasn't upset when they suggested a more expensive alternative because it solved a problem that I would have encountered and was worried about. The final price is super fair... The techs showed up earlier than the 3 hours estimated. They knew exactly what to do and were here about half an hour. My unit was 3 pounds low on coolant and the charge was one-third what I thought it would be, based on what I had been charged a few years ago by a company I had used for at least a decade, including service plan with them. Toby and his team are fantastic. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, responsive and honest HVAC company. We couldn't be happier with our experience with Strike Force, from start to finish. Basically everything about both the HVAC system and the ductwork in my 1950s Lakewood home was a mess. In one day, Strike Force replaced all of the old equipment, removed all of the old ductwork (including the return ductwork in the crawlspace) and reconfigured the entire duct system to fix the issues we previously had with certain rooms not being heated/cooled sufficiently. They even noticed a leaking pipe in our crawlspace and fixed that for us too. The crew was friendly, hard-working and conscientious (for instance, they went out of their way to close the door behind them every time they were in and out all day long, to help keep my two young daughters as warm as possible on a very cold January day) and did a great job cleaning up after all of the work was done.
