We've been in a few times, most recently to pick up new sneakers for my oldest prior to the start of school. We are usually helped by the very kind gentleman (whose name I am unable to recall) and he is wonderful and always thorough and sweet to the kids. Latest visit we were helped by a woman who was new (to us) and whose customer service skills could use some improvement. I hope that she'll see this and perhaps remember that there is more to shoes than just measuring a child's feet! read more

It's been about 6 weeks or so since our first visit, it's time for sandals. During our second visit I found some really cute sandals. They had a good selection with many colors and styles. The employee said they would have to be ordered in since they didn't have the sizes in-stock. She checked online and was pretty sure it wouldn't be a problem. She ran the credit card and charged $10 freight to have shipped to my house. Later I received a call from the owner telling me the sizes we needed were not available and wanted to know if we can take the white sandals instead. I cancelled the order. That night I went on Stride Rite's website and found the sandals. The sizes I needed were in-stock (they cost less) and I got free shipping. When I looked at the store receipt the shoes cost a few bucks more and the 20% Yelp check in offer wasn't applied after all. Not sure how he couldn't order the shoes but I could. I liked their service during both visits. At this point I'm not sure if I will return. First review: The twins started walking so it was time for their first pair of good shoes. The crib shoes are done. We were greeted by the owner, the girls' feet were measured, then we were brought out a few styles for the girls to try on. I appreciated the owner asking if I wanted them to match or not. I refrain as much as possible to match them. A lot of time people assume I want them to match. We were given recommendations on the shoes and fit. By the end of our visit the girls had a new pair of shoes and shoes. One pair was 40% off. We decided to come back in a couple of months for sandals. They give a frequent buyer card. Get a stamp for each purchase of regular price shoes. Sure the shoes aren't inexpensive but you are paying for quality and service. read more

I went here two times to buy shoes for my 2yr old.Both times i was disappointed. 1)There is old man in store who seems to be in rush all times,He is excellent in giving horrible customer service. 2)Limited options.You are better off in Nordstorm,Macys. 3)I got same nike shoe from Jc penny 25$cheap.They sell old styles at the launching price of that style.Compare prices with the companies website and than decide. 4)If your child gets blister after wearing shoe than you can't return here since they say after wear you can't return.But how in this earth can we know that the shoe won't cause issue before wearing it. I'm all in support of local business but not like this.In this era of retail if this shop needs to survive better wake up and work on service.Never going to return. read more

Came in today with my mom and 16 month old daughter to receive help in finding some really spectacular shoes to help her feel better while perfecting her baby strut. We were helped by a really nice woman -- wish I had gotten her name because she was excellent -- who measured my baby's foot and brought out socks/shoe options immediately. She explained to us what babies learning to walk need to feel beneath them so they may better their balance and understand how to use different muscles properly. I had my daughter in Freshly Picked Moccasins, which she said were great for her to learn with. With the sales associate's help, we purchased two fabulous pairs of shoes; one looked more like a sneaker, the other was similar to a Mary Jane. I look forward to coming back when we need more shoes in the future. :) read more

This is continually the best Stride Rite around. The head honcho is typically on hand to help educate staff and families on proper shoe fit and what shoe modifications may or may not need to be made for a shoe. Closest to the original shoe shop era of when staff was expected to be able to fit everything from orthopedics to accept referrals from pediatricians and podiatrists. Yes, a busy little shop because of this. They consistently have extensive children's lines whereas most Stride Rite locations are stripped down to the general items. Fantastic sales make it a great place to stock up on shoes. Worth the time and money especially if you're little one has specific shoe needs. The area has the financial stability to keep the better brands and orthopedic additions in stock. read more

Stood in the store for 30 minutes before even given any semblance of acknowledgement! If you read the other poor reviews they are ALL tied to poor customer service. A theme going on here. Bummer the Pleasanton mall store closed down as this store has no competition to make them concerned about customer service. read more

Always a great experience here. They take the time to measure your kids feet every time. Plus, usually recommended shoes a little bigger so you can get at least 6 months out of the shoes. Sometimes busy and you may have to wait 5-10 minutes for help, but always worth the wait in my opinion. read more

Service was ok. Family owned. I went in because if you checkin via yelp, you get a % off shoes. Well, I showed the gal the checkin and she said they don't honor it because that is a corporate discount and this store is family owned. Whatever....prices are off the roof for little kid shoes. Sadly after two years of my custom I will not be returning to this store for shoes for my three kids. We purchased two pairs of shoes recently and after two weeks of wear one pair became unstitched at the front and on the other the logo fell off. We chose to shop here due to the professional recommendations the staff make on shoes suitable for my kids and we were told that the first pair of shoes would not be replaced due to the way my three year old son walks. We have never had to replace shoes after two weeks and if my son has an unusual walk that is why we shopped here to get recommendations for shoes that are suitable. The sales associate kept quoting that he had 30 years of experience which is disappointing that he sold us this pair with all his experience and did not tell us they would last for only two weeks. In the end he walked away from me. This place has a limited selection, seem to stock and happily sell defective shoes to its customers and now offer sub standard service. I'm truly disappointed to have been let down by this store after all this time. read more

I've been here a few times to get my daughter shoes. They have an alright selection of shoes, and the customer service is okay. They just tend to always have too little help for such a busy little store so it takes a while to get the help you need. read more

Waiting with a very small child for 20 minutes to be helped. Even when asking for help I got blown off by two workers who helped other people that entered the store after me. Either pay your employees more or get a customer service training class going. read more

we went with my son ( 21 months old) from Santa Clara. She is not helpfull for us. She only brought us shoes.

We live overseas and every summer I buy shoes for my four kids in several sizes to last throughout the year. We always come to this Stride Rite for shoes. The owner and employees of this store are fantastic. They are patient and understanding and clearly know kids' feet and shoes. We are always offered clearance or sale options that might work for us and there are always numerous choices of styles and colors for my kids to choose from. They have a great rewards program, as well as buy one full price, get the second at a discount. As long as my kids can fit the shoes sold here, we will continue to patronize this wonderful store. read more

Came in today to get shoes for my 13 month old daughter. The woman who helped us measured her feet and explained why their shoes were great for little ones. I am so disappointed with this store and specifically the woman who works there. I love to support local businesses and I have bought my children shoes at this store numerous times over the past eight years. After what happened today, I will NEVER go back. I bought my five-year-old a pair of sketchers light up tennis shoes two months ago and the Velcro has already ripped off and the shoes are unwearable. I went into the store today with the shoes hoping that they would be able to either replace the shoes or work with me to fix the situation. The woman who works there was extremely rude and kept talking over me and would not even let me explain my situation. When I tried to ask for a turn to talk, she rolled her eyes at me and continued to raise her voice in a completely unprofessional way. I ended up leaving the store in the middle of the transaction so my five-year-old son did not have to hear a grown woman be so rude. I've never been treated so poorly and was mortified that my sweet little boy had to witness such an unpleasant exchange. There are plenty of kind people in our sweet town and many other spots to buy children's shoes. Don't waste your time on stride rite in the Livery. read more

I can't remember the last time I received such poor service. The girl that worked here that day didn't seem to care if we bought the shoes or not. The only thing she did for us was to bring the pair of shoes we asked for. And there is one thing really annoying about this place: they don't have the price on the merchandise, so you have to ask them the price for everything you are interested. My two year old seems to be growing faster than I could ever imagine! I have heard that Stride Rite shoes are best for the growing foot, so we traveled a bit of a distance to get to the store. My daughter loves Frozen and so when we visited, we had to buy her the Frozen light-up shoes. The gentleman who assisted us was very helpful, and made the experience fun for my little one. A month later, my daughter did not want to wear her shoes. She complained that they hurt. When I looked in the shoe, the bottom cloth liner had detached and had bunched up. I took them back to the store, and the same nice gentleman arranged to have new shoes shipped to me for a small charge. He was really helpful, and nice! We love shopping here! read more

We like the BOGO 40% off sales and usually stock up on larger sizes. Some of the shoes we have purchased didn't last very long but my guys had grown out of them before they completely fell apart. My guys are really rough on their shoes. Decent selection at this location and friendly service. Very convenient for me. Prices are in line and I prefer to go into the store for proper measurements and to touch the merchandise I will be buying. read more
