I've only tried a few HIIT type of classes in my life and have a class package for another place up the street that starts with B. After attending Stride, I'll probably switch over to this studio instead. First off, I really like that Stride is inclusive to all fitness levels and give options for both walkers and runners. It has a range of different treadmill levels for Levels 1-4. This allows me to self-regulate and go easier or faster depending on how I'm feeling that day. This allows me to sufficiently warm up and I feel like I'm getting the most out of my workout. You only switch once during the combo so I definitely can take my time and do quality reps. Seriously there is nothing more annoying that switching between workouts super quickly and I don't even have time to catch my breath so please keep this format! read more

Today I've hit my 200th class with Dollar so I'm updating my review to chat about Stride 2.0! Just this month, they increased the 'gym' space by removing some of the waiting area space. Game changer and much better use of space. I've been liking this new format because it added room for the strength and weight-training portion of the class. The benches are really nice and each bench has your own set of weights ranging from 7.5 to 25 pounds. Not having to get the weights you think you'll need for class is really helpful. For me, I still average around 2-3 miles per Combo class and that's perfect for me. This new format helps me hit more muscle groups than before! I also like the screens showing the strength moves on the strength side so it's easier to remember. Instructors and staff are all still amazing and welcoming. Definitely a class worth checking out! read more

I've recently signed up for Stride for two months to help kickstart my health journey in 2023. I've taken three classes before and enjoyed every single one, which is why I'm signing up now! I admit, I'm not a huge runner, which is why I chose to challenge myself by taking these classes. Besides the running, they'll also tap into a little bit of strength in between. The goal is to hit 3-miles per class in the hour. I really hope to gain endurance after these next two months and am excited to see where this journey will take me! read more

Great workout!! Love the positive environment! I hate running off and on the trend but stride somehow it makes it enjoyable! I've taken both Joy and Dollar's class. Both are phenomenal instructors. I love both their energy and positive encouragement. The classes are definitely challenging but fun. The music is great! Two types of work out 1. Combo: combination of running and strength portion 2. Stride: running for 55 minutes Facility - extremely clean and provides towels - there is a water fountain to refill your bottles - no need to clean the gym equipment after your workout. I discovered Stride after my friend shared one of their Instagram posts, and learned more about them when I asked if she was willing to refer me. I participated in one of their evening sessions with Joy, and it was phenomenal. She introduced me to the studio, the machine and how to use it, and offered information about walking/running options. She was incredibly supportive and thoroughly explained the class/what to expect, and encouraged me to listen to my body throughout the workout. In addition to the treadmill, there were three "breaks" with weights that were challenging, but fun. I'm looking forward to my next combo class with Joy, and her playlist filled with Blackpink and *NSYNC. Their studio receptionist was incredibly friendly as I filled in paperwork prior, and equipped me with a heart rate monitor to share our stats during (on the monitor) and after class (via email). It was quite interesting and insightful, and Joy even helped me decipher the stats after class. So thoughtful! Anyhoo, I ended up purchasing one of their membership options, and am looking forward to returning. As an active street runner, I initially was not interested in treadmill running. But after taking a class with Coach Leanne, I became hooked on the classes provided at Stride. The energy of the class was simply contagious. The indoor classes provide you with a heart monitor, towel, and treadmill. Your progress ins displayed on big screen at the front of the class. It's not super competitive, it's simply a gauge to measure your individual progress. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Stride adapted and took their classes outdoors and integrated dumbbells. So now every class gets a full body HIIT style workout. In addition, Stride has not lost their running roots. They host safe and responsible outdoor run groups where masks and social distancing are required. I'm proud to be a small part of this community. read more

I've been avoiding running workouts for forever because I don't like running and felt intimidated. But I'm glad that I pushed myself outside my comfort zone because I actually liked it more than I excepted too. I take the combo classes so it's not just running the whole time. It's a mix of running and exercises. So the exercises are a good break to the running but they still add to your workout. They give you a heart monitor so that you can see your rate during the classes and after via an email. Depending on the coach they will challenge you to either get your heart rate in a certain color or they will tell you what level to be at. But it is determined by yourself. There are running and walking options. The running class is a bit dark and they have fans. It's a nice studio with locked lockers and cubbies. They also have showers. They also have their own parking. read more

I am so grateful to have checked out Stride for a Yelp Elite event. I had a blast! The venue for Stride is clean and the perfect size for classes. The staff and our instructor Dollar were so friendly and definitely made the night an amazing one. There's cubbies to put your personal belongings and cleaning areas that look very modern. The treadmills were really nice compared to ones that I've used at other gyms and had informational cards to help navigate where your intensity and incline should be during the workouts. One side of the card is for runners and the other side is for walkers that want that resistance. Stride provided workout trackers that are on the tv screens in the front to keep you on pace and in the right heart rate range. The music was great and kept the energy high. I personally loved the mix of weight training, resistance bands and cardio. The rests, sets, and form were all being watched by our instructor who helped us adjust if we needed it. He was very motivational and so positive. I am definitely coming back again for another workout! read more

I like this gym but they aren't enforcing the proof of vaccination. I was in a class with a girl coughing and hacking constantly, no mask on. It was disturbing to say the least. I also wish they had more late classes. The instructors are all amazing and the staff is friendly. Also they recently started making you bring your weights back whereas before we could just leave them. That irked me a little because this place is VERY expensive. read more

After choosing to try this spot based off of a review that mentioned this was the most fun someone had at a class, I can honestly second that emotion. First of all, there is a parking lot. That is big time especially when you're on the way to workout you don't need to be stressed that you can't find a parking spot. The lovely Victoria welcomed me gave me a full rundown of the place and introduced me to Samantha the instructor. By the time class started I was 100% confident even though Im not a runner. What I love -- truly LOVE -- is that the instructor encourages you to find YOUR levels of difficulty, and by adding just one point of intensity here and there, it really pushed me to try harder at my own pace. In an age of instructors who push you to their limit without considering your health, that is solid gold. Not only did I run for 45 minutes total (the longest I've ever run in my life) but I was able to stay in the 85-90%HR range which I did not think I would be able to do. I thought the HR and calories burned showing on the monitors would be discouraging but the class really reaches the goals together. I cannot recommend enough. read more

Got a toxic trait of thinking you can run like you did in high school, but an unfortunate diet that includes a bag of Costco tortilla chips? Have I got the class for you. Join lovely women who may be actresses, but because it's a 5:30 am class in Pasadena, are probably are just CalTech professors who do community theater. When the woman on the treadmill next to you in a triathlon t-shirt fires up her speed, your competitive but out of shape self can increase your speed until you feel like you have morning sickness. To break up the fun, you get to lift weights next to an Amazon, and quickly remember that you can barely lift a laptop, and are only touching a weight bc your internist says you are inching closer to the risk of osteoporosis than the risk of going on spring break. 5 Stars. I love Barry's, Lagree, and spinning to provide a sampling of my interests and fitness intensity. STRIDE is on par or I dare say even superior, YES superior to all other intense training studios. The beauty is that you can custom fit it to your fitness level and nobody knows!!! So wonderful especially now after our post-Covid bods! In the same room you can have an Olympic athletes and folks like me who took a year-off sort of from any major exercising. The gym is perfectly dimly lit, you wear a heart rate monitor IF you want (but please be informed about the benefits of HRV no matter), and the acoustics are just amazing. This is a long overdue review for Stride. I have been going to Stride since the end of October 2020 in the midst of the pandemic. I signed up on a whim just really wanting to up my fitness regimen. My first class ended up kicking my butt and I signed up the next week for even more classes. Every single class I've taken has been top notch in terms of not only the trainers but also workouts. There is such a emphasis on form and doing workouts correctly which you really don't find anywhere else. Every single trainer here is amazing, friendly, and entertaining. I don't think I've had a single bad time. tl;dr: I would recommend this place 100% to beginners and even those who are already pretty advanced when it comes to training. I have been coming to almost daily Stride workouts for about 2 years now and I have never once been bored. The coaches all have their own flavor and personality, and will always push you to be your absolute best - I genuinely love every single coach at Stride. I wanted to start running because I never was a runner! It always seemed like such a time efficient and simple workout you could do anywhere, but I lacked form and foundation - both of which are foundational at Stride. My step-mom told me about the studio and I was hooked after my first class. I started with a 5 pack of classes, then a 10 pack and finally just had to switch to unlimited. Each class leaves me feeling refreshed and like a better version of myself. The results were noticeable almost right away, my confidence went up, I ran further with less breaks, and toned out my lower body. When Stride closed for COVID they swapped to digital content that was uploaded to YouTube or you could join in real time via Zoom which really kept me sane during quarantine. Now they are doing outdoor classes with proper safety and distancing measures and it just feels really good to get outdoors and run around with your gym buddies. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone of any fitness level! read more

Sadly, I did not feel welcomed at this gym. My husband and I found this place on Yelp and we wanted to give it a try. We recently moved to LA area and looking for a new gym, so we thought to bring some friends with us. The moment I walked into the studio, the front desk staff did not greet us nor introduce themselves. I mentioned we are there for our first class. The lady had us fill out the consent form and stated to us "If your friends are late, then we cannot let them in." My friends got there at 5:27 for class, and they were not allowed in. According to my books, that is not late! When I scheduled the class via text message with whomever to schedule us for the class, he/she only mentioned the cancellation policy. The front desk said, "When you scheduled the class, they told you not to be late." I told her nobody had mentioned that and when I chatted with Laura to schedule my class, and she had not mentioned anything. She said "I am Laura and I did not schedule your class." I thought, okay, that did not solve anything about this situation as to why my friends can't join the class they signed up for. They were there on time. Class has not started yet. I am so upset. I have worked in customer service for many years, and know what excellent customer service is. Stride has offered a first free class, so why were they not welcoming about it? I was not in the mood continue the class after this incident because they were not welcoming at all, nor figured a solution or reschedule time, and my friends were forced to leave. However, Laura said if I were to leave as well, she would charge me a $15 cancellation fee. I was SO upset at how she handled this. After the class, my husband and I were unsure as to where the HR monitors go, we stood at the front desk where the two ladies were, but neither of them gave us any direction of where it goes or a simple "thank you, bye" and completely ignored us. The customer service was terrible. Please be more welcoming towards first timers, not only via text, but in person, and to all ethnic groups. read more

Stride classes were something I greatly missed in this first year of pandemic. I resumed classes in May and absolutely hated running with a mask on, but it was a small price to pay to return to the best exercise I've ever enjoyed with great staff and a welcoming environment. When the mask requirement was temporarily lifted, I was happy to run without one. In mid-June, when Covid-19 rates were creeping back up and Pasadena required indoor masks, I arrived for a class and noticed lots of other guests going maskless. I brought this up to the front-desk team and they merely pointed at something written on the white-board that clients could skip the mask if they were vaccinated. I then asked how they were checking vaccination status and was met with just an awkward silence. I direct messaged the studio and heard nothing for about two weeks, but finally got a really warm reply from Misa, one of the owners. She assured me that she valued my concerns and that the team was working on it. She even asked for my phone number so she could provide an update. I felt heard and definitely did not mind giving the staff some time to implement new changes, as it must be so hard to run a business at this time. I figured I would return in a few weeks once they updated their policy. Sadly, I never got that update and it's been almost one month since Misa last replied to me. I sent a follow-up about two weeks ago as well. The studio's Instagram Stories from today show clients continuing to run without masks indoors. More than two months after the City of Pasadena required a return to indoor masking, Stride refuses to comply. I'm too tired to go around reporting them to the City and I will certainly take my business elsewhere, but I remain disappointed that they show such little concern for their clientele. I post this one-star update with the knowledge that I gave them more than enough time to be responsive to public health measures that protect all of us. read more

STRIDE is perfect for runners (and great even for non-runners because you always have the option to walk) and is located off Lake Avenue in Pasadena. They have a free, small, private lot -- which is a rarity in Pasadena. The studio itself is clean and comfortable. There are two showers and two restrooms. They use high-quality Woodway treadmills, which are a step up from the generic treadmills housed in numerous gyms. They are really comfortable to run on and it actually motivated me to run more. STRIDE also claims to be the first group running studio! So to experience this concept, you should definitely try it out. The first class is free. You also use a Polar heart monitoring device that you wear against your skin to track your heart rate and calories throughout the session. Your stats are posted on the multiple screens during your session, so it's really awesome to see how you're doing in comparison to everyone else. It's really motivating to see your percentage go up, change colors, and can help with giving that extra push when you are wearing down! Staff was super friendly and helpful here as well -- from the front desk to the class instructor. STRIDE is motivating and challenging. They make going to a gym and running on a beaten-down treadmill with ear phones a thing of the past. STRIDE is about blasting music, running together as a group, and having numbers on a screen and your instructor push and drive you to giving your hardest run. read more

Had a really good time at my free first workout. I didn't expect a treadmill studio workout to be this enjoyable. It doesn't matter if you are a seasoned runner or a walker. You can decide how challenging you want to make your workout. I found that i was able to challenge and push myself further than expected by the end. I like that you wear a heart rate monitor that shows how you are doing on the screen. The treadmills are very nice and much better than any treadmill i have ever run on. Okay, if you haven't been to a place like Stride, you need to STAT! I'm not an avid runner and usually get pretty bored when I run so the concept of Stride is perfect for someone like me. If you don't think you can do it or don't feel up to it there's an option to be a "walker" instead of a "runner." So here's the low down on how it works: 1. Get a heart rate monitor at the front desk. 2. Enter the workout room and select your treadmill of choice. Depending on your class you might need to go grab some weights as well. 3. Watch your heart rate on a screen along with other walkers/runners. 4. Run so much more than you think you did in a fun, energetic environment! I had such a fun time. I honestly didn't feel like I was running for as long as I did and constantly felt motivated. There are multiple breaks and different intervals so you don't even realize how much you're running. There is definitely an added motivation by being in a room full of others also working hard with you doing the same thing! read more

Dropped by STRIDE while I was in town to get in a workout I knew would guarantee a sweat! Similar to Barry's Bootcamp, STRIDE is a fitness studio with classes that specialize in treadmill intervals and strength training. While there are purely running and strength classes, I definitely wanted the best of both worlds and I also didn't think I could last an hour strictly on the treadmill :P The class with Misa flew by so fast that I didn't realize how sweaty I had gotten at the end! I definitely got in a solid workout and felt like there was a good balance between running and floor. I would say that this is definitely a notch lower in terms of intensity than Barry's which I actually liked since I'm a wee cautious when it comes to extreme interval sprints on the treadmill that seem very sudden. The class is also on the smaller side (maybe less than 20?) and I thought this was a good number so that you felt like you weren't alone but there was still a chance for the instructor to make sure you were doing okay. I'd definitely come back next time! Parking situation is pretty good here and the space is really cute. If you're interested in a combination workout of cardio and strength training to get the most out of your hour, this is the place! read more

We love this running studio (even though I don't particularly love running)! Katie and Misa have done a wonderful job at providing a standard gym alternative. Think Soul Cycle for runners. With 24 super high-end Woodway treadmills and Polar heart-rate monitors, this workout keeps us motivated and challenged. You can purchase your own heart-rate monitor through the studio or borrow one each time. LeeAnn, the head instructor, does a fantastic job of guiding us through tough and intense runs, mixed with weight training. Her music helps time fly and her high-energy, warm, and fun personality keeps us coming back multiple times a week. While the classes here are not cheap, the Power Burn classes are some of the best workouts that combine both cardio and weights. They do offer a variety of packages and a free trial class. Being new and small, the studio has a very family-feel. We are always greeted by a friendly face and the other members are familiar, positive, upbeat, and excited to be there. The gym is very clean and the equipment is in great condition. Easy class booking through app and emails summarizing workouts are sent immediately after each class. The class schedule is great for people who don't have 9-5 schedules. A problem we had with Equinox is that the Precision Running classes are too late in the mornings or too late in the evenings for our work schedule. Also, if you're easing into running or need something lower impact, they have a walking program that instructors teach simultaneously through varied incline and speeds. Stride was one of the places I didn't want to review so that I could have it all to myself, but after months of training here, I can't help but to share! It had been YEARS since I worked out before coming to Stride. I was sooo nervous my first day, but the staff was so sweet & welcoming and simplified everything for me. Loved that the class accommodates to all levels of fitness and the heart monitor they provide helps you keep track of your progress. All the instructors are amazing, but my favorite classes are power burn with Misa & Leanne and quick burn with Aubrey. Gotta say Antonio plays the best music though (mix of old school & current hiphop/rap). Other thoughts - clean studio, easy parking, easy online sign up for classes, and good ventilation which is a huge plus for me (i ain't trynna do hot yoga). After running at Stride for three years, I took a class with one of the new coaches named Dollar. He channels everything that I need in a running coach / group fitness class instructor. He is energetic and is able to pump up a class (imagine running on a treadmill before going to work early in the AM or at the end of a long work day) without yelling or screaming into the microphone. He is enthusiastic about the workout without being preachy, cheesy, or all extra. His classes are challenging without being so difficult that people can't catch their breath. He has excellent timing, which is so important for anyone who is literally counting down to the next break. His music selection is also on point. He motivates without talking through the entire class, or giving guilt trips, or being mean/rude. Dollar is an awesome coach! A workout class at Stride is worth every Dollar spent. I used to really love running and then one day - blip. Hated it. Despised it. I'm trying to get back into the fitness groove and thought that Stride had a cool concept. I never have the motivation to do running intervals on my own, and this is just the push I need. The added bonus - you are hooked up with a heart rate monitor to push yourself even further. I've never worked out like this with a heart rate monitor and it made me work harder than I would have otherwise. I hate to post this review because I don't want all of you to join and crowd me out...but, I have to say that Victoria, Katie & Misa run one stellar facility. The studio has been closed due to water damage but the ladies have been on top of keeping all the clients informed and, in my opinion, are trying to keep everything on track and knocking it out of the park. When in operation, the studio is clean and the front desk help is wonderful. The coaches are fantastic. If you've read any of my past reviews, you know I'm stingy giving a good one so, trust me, if you try Stride Fitness Pasadena I don't think you'll be disappointed. I was going to give only 4 stars instead of 5 because I feel I was unfairly charged a no-show fee but....I'm not aggravated enough to penalize them a star. I want to say how helpful the front desk guy was. I tried it for the first time because I wanted to check out the new addition for the Xponential brand. The bathroom and studio are spotless. Inside the studio has two rows of treadmills and tv monitors to show the workout result. The instructor was amazing. The workout itself was like Barry's Bootcamp & Burn 60. (half time on the treads and half on the floor/weight training). Clean towels and a good sound system. I wish there are more space for the floor work because the length isn't enough for an average person. Anyways really enjoyed it and give 5 stars. read more

I knew STRIDE was for me and that I was going to hit it off with Leanne when I stepped into my first class and the first song Leanne played was Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. She has great choice of music and motivational stories when I'm barely catching my breath...she gets me! Everyone at STRIDE is actually so sweet and motivating. I've become stronger overall because of STRIDE. I never considered myself anywhere close to being any type of runner, but because it's broken up into short intervals, I was able to slowly push myself to do more.
