Evolve Personal Fitness & Gym

I'm only what, 2 months in with this new little gym. It is a far cry from the massive, corporate…read moreLifeTime Fitness South that I had spent the last 18 month at. I was really looking for more personal, nutrition and data driven results. It's great that your trainer is telling you that you look great and strong, but what do the numbers say? The InBody machine they had there, is here as well. Curious why my trainer at LT never regularly used it in my regime. We met with the owner Chris and he offered us a complimentary workout with one of the trainers to get a feel for the place. That wasn't necessary really. We somewhat knew what we looking for and Evolve seem to have all the stuff we really needed, without the pretentiousness. My treadmill was there, they have heavy stuff to pick up and throw around. Machines for all kinds of stuff. A massive half tire thing, that actually looks dangerous to me. :) Chris's interview with us was personal and direct. I liked that as well. He took his time, listened and asked for our availability and when to start the first complimentary session and we discussed the packages available. This was a wow moment. A 6 month commitment meant that our PT hour was $79.99, no monthly gym fee and I could come and go as I please. Jaw drop. We were paying $150 an hour, plus a monthly gym fee 3x's a week. Although to be fair, I had recently moved to a Medicare Membership at LT so no gym fee, but restricted hours. Ok, interest was peaked. I went to my first session with Celeste. We spent the entire hour working on my balance and stretching. I was like, ok no weights? I regretted that thought when I got home a few hours later when my muscles had some aching, a signal that something good was happening that worked. Her style was to get me in touch with my core and she was surprised, as was I, why my past trainer experience didn't touch on that. Using my own stomach kettle bell or medicine ball as "The Weight" makes sense. I have used very little physical weight these past two months. I am doing a lot of Yoga it seems when I train with her. Mandatory stretching before working out, in addition to me getting on the treadmill before we start. The Yoga is teaching me to be in touch with my body and muscles, I like that as well. Celeste may be younger, but she has knowledge and experience which is what matters to me. She is now taking a keen interest in our diet. We are looking at recipes and dietary concerns. She cautioned me on my style, which was 1670 cals a day and reminded me that slow and easy wins this race. Again, good logic. Most important she has a laugh with me while I clumsy work my way through the gym like a drunken Shrek at a rave. Nice reassuring smile and very quiet speaking so I have to pay attention more. Communication. The owner is there often and when he sees me, he always checks in with me and asks how I am doing. I get reminders on the gyms personal app and text's from Celeste checking in on me. A very important app is the InBody app. I can already see the improvement in my body, which is a total motivator. Such a simple thing and a great, honest feedback tool. It feels good to support a local business and not a corporate conglomerate as well. Let's keep on keeping on!

Best group of trainers I've ever come across. The owner -Chris Protein, (yes, that's his real…read morename!) is very good at what he does! The massage therapist is also a trainer and this means you can go and sweat for two hours and then get a sports massage afterwards. There's a boxing bag down there that you can't help from not hitting it, just don't stand too close or the bag will snap you pretty good on the nose. They also have an onsite sports PT as well. Great equipment, professional, and you'll WANT to work out there!

Lateef and his team are the best! I've been coming here for just over a year and I'm not only…read morenotably stronger I look so much better naked ! The workouts are tough but the best thing is that they are ALWAYS different. It's never the same boring old routine. They recently got an infrared sauna too! Their class times align to people who work long hours in addition to people who don't work as you can attend the 6am or 7am classes ( that's where I'm at ) or the 12pm or 5:30pm classes. I enjoy this class so much more then I ever enjoyed Barre, Yoga or CrossFit. It's just a true combination of everything and that makes it so much more doable as it never gets boring. Random body parts are always sore. They also always provide alternatives if you have an injury. The class is super diverse. People of ALL ages and ALL weights. It's refreshing. You're not intimated but you're also motivated. Personal tip: If Lateef doesn't immediately respond to your email just email again. He's an actual owner hustler as he teaches so many of his classes and does a lot of personal training and he doesn't have an assistant so he juggles it all on his own. Fit Austin is totally worth it so don't get upset just send a follow up and he will respond. It's worth it!!!!

I have an unlimited membership for $150 a month where I can go every day to the gym. They have different packages and price points though. Some people have told me my package is expensive and if you are one of those people, rearrange your budget so that you can come to Fit Austin. Seriously, I love this place and you get your money's worth! The classes are 45 minutes with a warm up and cool down and they are intense (in a good way). They are small and the trainers are great! The classes are always different and work different parts of your body. You will never get bored with the classes here! It really is almost like personal training without the high budget. Although from the reviews here and what I have heard, Lateef and the rest of the trainers are amazing at personal training. I have to give a shout out to Lane LeBlanc who is currently a trainer there. She is super great, friendly, very encouraging and knowledgeable. I always look forward to any class with her! You have many time options every day for the classes and everyone there is friendly. They have bathrooms, a water bottle fill up station and showers if needed and a new sauna! If you are looking for a gym, don't look any further. Whether you need personal training or want to go to classes, this is the place for you!

My wife went in with high hopes after an enjoyable first session, but was extremely disappointed…read moreduring my second visit. Despite having already paid for a class, I was abruptly asked to leave. I was told I should seek a "Hispanic Pilates class" instead, implying I didn't belong there due to perceived race or ethnicity. This comment was not only unprofessional, but also deeply troubling. Regardless of anyone's cultural background, fitness spaces should be inclusive, welcoming, and respectful. It's especially disheartening that such outdated, discriminatory attitudes are still present today. What should have been a positive, health-centered experience quickly turned into one that left me questioning the values upheld by this establishment. I believe in treating others with dignity and fairness, and I hope this review encourages B Pilates to reflect on how they engage with and treat all clients--especially when it comes to cultural sensitivity and inclusivity.

I did manage to injure the muscles around my hip while on the reformer which lasted a few weeks. I didn't seek medical consult but imagine it was hyperextended. One observation is that there is frequent communication when this business is trying to sell classes via phone, email, text etc. However, there is zero communication when it comes to reminding customers of upcoming booked classes. I missed two 1:1 sessions (~$200). I wish there was a reminder system like ClassPass has, a less rigid cancelation policy, or at least a courtesy text with the same effort they make as when they're texting to sell.

I received a guest pass for a cycle workout from my Yelp friend Airon Andrews…read more I was impressed with the gym. There are so many amenities...snack shop, free towels, hydro massage chairs, Normatek compression boots, cold therapy chairs, pool, and real massages. The cycle class by dynamic instructor David Garza was quite a workout! It was only 30 minutes long but energy packed! I was familiar with the Soul Cycle type classes, which include push-ups while cycling. But this class introduced dance style moves, such as swaying hips. It was a real dance party! I was exhausted but feeling great afterwards. We partook of the Normatek compression boots, which were good therapy for my recently injured knee. The hydro massage chairs were taken, so we skipped that. All in all, this high end gym was a great experience. I would join, except my insurance does not cover the gym because it is considered "premium."
