I had seen other PTs for pelvic floor issues after my pregnancies and while those PTs were wonderful, I think Dr. Swapnali has been more effective in helping me target and correctly use muscles in my core and pelvic floor. I was a competitive swimmer for years, I've always seemed to be in good (even great!) shape, but for years I still suspected I wasn't using my core or pelvic floor correctly. Dr. Swapnali was careful and thorough in first working to isolate movements/muscles to make sure I was using the correct muscles and not compensating with with poor form/the wrong muscles. I'm sure Dr. Swapnali can explain it better than I can, but I was fascinated from the start, and noticed a difference from the first session. Dr. Swapnali has also been kind and easy to work with. She asks thoughtful questions about my performance/week, and I have been able to ask lots of questions during sessions. You can tell her process works as she is working on your body - you feel sort of releases in different areas as she is working on you. I feel that my cancer treatments are more effective with the relaxing of the myofacial. She has such a intuative nature, knowing what questions to ask in order to really understand your pains. I had recently learned of Bowenwork and was not having good experiences with chiropractors. I have…read moreall kinds of spine issues from my tailbone up through my neck (C2), and needed to be adjusted regularly. I did Bowenwork in my area for a few months and then moved to the greater Austin area. I thought I would go as long as I could without any body work, but after a few months I found it increasingly difficult and painful to raise my legs for each step going up to my 2nd floor apartment. I could see that if I didn't do something I was going to have a particularly difficult time getting into my apartment. I found Jessica from the Bowenwork Academy's "Find a Practitioner" and saw that she had taken all the courses and had more than 500 hours of Bowenwork experience. After 3 times of going to Jessica, I realized while I was quickly and easily going up the stairs that I was not in any pain! It just happened so naturally, I didn't notice I was doing better. Jessica has also worked on my jaw (TMJ), my neck (weak voice), shoulders (tight and painful), pelvis, knee, wrists, lower back, hips and feet. Afterwards, I have to sleep and allow the Bowenwork nudges to awaken my body's healing response. Really, I wouldn't believe it, if I didn't experience it every time. And Jessica has a sense of what is needed, and how to address it. She expects a change, and adjusts what she does, if it's not forth coming. I have also had a session of therapeutic, restorative movement (not sure what she calls it - using special balls for self massage) and that session relaxed my muscles so much that again I had to sleep. Jessica is not in this business for the money. She tells me what I can do to help myself at home. She told me where to go to get the balls and how I could find the videos so I could work on myself at home. She could have all that in her office and mark up what is already really expensive, but as I said she's a body worker not a shrewd business person out to make a buck. Jessica is an honest, true healer. I highly recommend going to her a few times and then see if you really do need a chiropractor.

I have been an athlete my whole life, swimming through college, and still playing doubles volleyball, biking, and running, so chronic use injuries are common. She, being an athlete and a coach of different sports, see's easily what the deficit is and prescribes exercises to remedy your malady. She is the first therapist I've had that worked one-on-one to monitor my progress, check my pain levels, and modify work-outs so I can progress into pain-free territory. If you are looking for someone to help you with a chronic use injury from sports, or even postural things that effect you at work on the day/day, look no further. I've been here for 3 different issues (currently on my 4th), and she was able to fix all three (and soon a 4th). Home exercises that are specifically for my needs are posted on line each week, and have videos as well as written instructions. They're pretty easy to follow (though not necessarily easy for me to do ). I feel blessed to have the opportunity to be at Symmetry and especially to work with Brad.
