Pirogie Poutine. Check out those toppings

I live near this place and I've seen it a couple of times. The branding is really on point and I always get excited when I see a food truck make it to a restaurant so this was a no brainer for me. Honestly, everything was so delicious. Their menu was super unique and caters to vegetarians and vegans. My two best friends were able to order without modifications, which means a lot to those with dietary restrictions. I got the 2 taco combo and upgraded the mini poutine to a perogy poutine and omg my mind was blown. Definitely the best poutine I've had In Kanata and I would even say it rivals The Great Canadian Poutinerie. My tacos were mango shrimp and fish- both were good but the shrimp was definitely the star of the show. I could eat that forever. Since then I've been back twice and I got a 40% off coupon in my inbox WE LOVE YOU STREATS!

Building has been here for decades. STReats has created a great doover. All is new inside. From the floor up, board style vinyl plank (I think) Seating is cozy. A great mural occupies one wall. Displays and digital equipment for ordering. Staff is knowledgeable and eager to please. Food is tasty and beer is from local Craft Brewers What an experience Tacos, poutine and fish and chips were very good

So this place used to be called Joey's Urban and they had pretty much the same menu, but it's now rebranded to strEATS Kanata Kitchen and the seats inside used to be red and now they are green :) Prices are a little bit higher, but that might actually just be due to inflation. I really liked Joey's Urban, and I still like it now that it's strEATS Kanata Kitchen. strEATS is a chain, with other locations in British Columbia and Alberta. This location is the only one in Ontario. The history is not clear to me, but they are, or at least were, somehow related to the chain Joey's Only, which then became Joey's Seafood. They sell tacos, burritos, fish and chips, and poutine. It's fast food type food. You order at the counter. If you order a fountain drink, they give you a cup and you fill it yourself. You pay at the counter and when the food is ready, they bring it to you. Both my husband and I got the 2 taco combo ($13) which came with a mini poutine and a fountain drink. They are licensed, so my husband also got a beer, which was regularly $7.50 but on sale for $5 on Fridays. I got the Baja Fish taco and the Mango Shrimp taco, and I requested all sauces on the side (because I find most places put on way too much sauce for my liking). I ended up using very little of the sauce, so I'll probably just say "no sauce" next time. The Mango Shrimp taco was excellent. The shrimps were battered and rolled in shredded coconut, then deep-fried. The toppings were mango salsa, more shredded coconut, and lettuce. I loved the different flavours and textures of this taco. I ate this one sauce-less. The Baja Fish taco was also good, but not as exciting as the shrimp one. It was Alaskan Pollock battered and deep-fried and served with pico de gallo and lettuce. Cilantro haters beware, as the pico de gallo contains cilantro! I did add a bit of the chipotle mayo to this taco to give it a bit of a kick. The taco shells are soft and made of wheat, not corn. This makes them a bit sturdier and less likely to fall apart, although I do like the taste of corn tortillas better. The mini poutine was the perfect size, as I got to eat poutine, but not feel completely gross afterwards, lol. There were no squeaky cheese curds, but the melted cheese was gooey and stringy and the gravy was flavourful and not too salty. The fries were good too. I didn't like that the drink fountain didn't have club soda, so I mixed Sprite with some strawberry Fruitopia. It was the first time I had a sugary pop in over 5 years! Lol. My husband got the Buffalo Chicken taco and Mango Shrimp taco. He got his with the sauces on the tacos. Way too much sauce for me! He liked them though. Staff were nice. The place looked clean. It's in a strip mall with lots of free parking. For fast food tacos and greasy poutine, this place was great :)

I had to pay upon ordering, cringed but left a tip as how do I know it will be great, right?! Paid with Visa and made it right to the place at the 15 min mark. It was ready to go. Killed me not to get fries but trying to be Spring-body ready! Haha! Just a hamburger, no cheese, loaded with veg and only hot sauce as a condiment. Love their raw onion. I tried on line as I was between appointments and inside the resto takes time to make. This just worked out and I'm so tempted to order another one. ;) I live too close to here!

The texture was the same throughout and I might even venture to say that the fries are actually far below average. I got the Cajun fries so I might want to try the regular ones before I write of their fries forever. Service was great - very quick and everyone was really nice. There is one thing that will bring me back here- it's the peanuts! These peanuts that are given away for FREE in an all-you-can-eat format were actually some of the best peanuts I've had! Next time I come, I am going to see if they have onion rings. For a place that specializes in just two things, they got to get their fries right.

Yes, I drove over there. I was craving it badly. The parking lot has a number of concrete islands in the parking lot. I felt like I was driving through an obstacle course. Anyway, I parked and walked in. The woman there was patient with me. I had to ask her whether the double roast beef sandwich was the former medium roast beef one. She said yes. Arby's has recently rebranded their roast beef sizes. It was like a test to see if I was observant. I ordered a couple of double roast beef sandwiches and a salted caramel chocolate chip cookie to go. I paid using a credit card. My order was ready in no time. I was impressed. I drove back to the hotel to relax in air conditioning. I chowed down. The roast beef sandwich was yummy. The bun was soft. Pure perfection! The salted caramel chocolate chip cookie is a winner. If you like a combination of sweet and salty, this cookie is up your alley. The cookie is also huge, which I appreciated. Ottawa, you are lucky that you have an Arby's, although in Kanata. I wish that Markham had one, but I got my fix while in your fine neck of the woods. (250)

Make sure you watch carefully as you select your toppings as they don't give a flying squirrel and will skip everything to save themselves $. Expensive burrito. With questionable guac. Technically that makes it a 3.5; I could live with that. I like this place so much that I'm surprised I haven't written a review for it yet! Let's remedy that now... We usually get one of their skewer platters (souvlaki), and we tend to rotate between the chicken, pork, beef, or lamb. The salad is not gargantuous, but big enough, and tasty too and contains lettuce, a couple of slices of wedgie tomatos, a couple of black olives with pits still in them, feta cheese, and onions. The chicken souvlaki I had was very tasty and I LOVED the tzatziki! There was plenty of rice, and a couple of potato halves. This meal is filling enough and comes to about $11 per person. Bonus: You save the nearly $2 delivery charge by picking up the order yourself. They do have a few tables for 2 or 4 people if you did want to eat in, but mainly their biggest business is their take out service/delivery. We've eaten here often, and will definitely be back again.

Bad judgement prevents them from chanhgig what most are complaining about. Not a good sign. I should have read more into that. We persisted on a paper menu of which they have few copies so we were sharing with others. SLOW service. Decent kabobs but should be for pork and chicken 5 bites of meat for $8. Lamb $11. The Greek vegetable salad elsewhere I normally LOVE. Reviewed with them that it was no lettuce and the usual veg. BUT at home we had a styrofoam box filled with UNripe tomaoto quarters, 30 of them, 4 round rings or red onion, 4 olives, and 4 1 inch thin slices of feta cheese. Good dressing but really no salad to put it on. Threw most f the tomatoes out,m and had a few bites of the salad, but it hadn' sufficient ingredients to be enjoyable - or nutritious. WASTE of money. 3 small pieces of spanokopita were tasty. In all for $58, not enough to eat and very ordinary. We should have used the crazy fast menu board as our warning that common sense is lacking here throughout. We won't return.
