I've been here a couple of times since it opened. The first time the COVID rules were a bit different and the gave you one of those devices that beeped when ready and you had to wait in the car until then. I was advised it would take about 15 minutes for my order, so I was happy to wait in the car. The first time I went I ordered a fish and chips meal with halibut (because it's called Halibut House so I figured that's their specialty), and an additional piece of cod. I wanted to compare the two to see which one was better. I liked the flavour of the cod better, less fishy for some reason. I know, I know, they're fish, so obviously they're fishy, but I still liked the cod better, more moist, tender. I heard about their house tartar sauce so I asked for it as well, but when I opened my takeout bag, I got the packets of tartar sauce that did not taste great, so I just ate it with the slices of fresh lemon. I thought both pieces fish were fried perfectly, nice and crispy, but the fries were not crispy, maybe because they were sitting underneath the fish. They didn't have any salt on them, either, so I added some salt at home and transferred them from the cardboard takeout container to a bowl and poured the malt vinegar packets on them. The second time I went I ordered a fish and chips meal again but with just one piece of cod. The fish and chips were both the same as the first time I had time, consistent. I don't remember what the coleslaw was like, but it was more on the vinegar side and not creamy, which I actually like better, and not too sour, either. I asked for the house tartar sauce again this time and they filled a small container. It was great, with just a touch of sweetness. Definitely better than the packets and highly recommended. You don't need much. I also ordered some fried clams, which I didn't see on the menu the last time. They came with seafood sauce, which I don't normally care for, so I just ate them with lemon and a bit of the tartar. They were good, crispy as well, but some pieces were just too small to taste the clam. I will definitely be back and this is now my go-to fish and chips spot in the area. Fish is fresh, fried well and not too greasy, good size portions, and there are weekly specials, as well as a $4-5 breakfast specials.

Awesome! Originally, we went because they had the ad where they were doing a buy one, get one 50% deal, but we learned quickly that on Sundays they have a great deal where you can get a piece of fish and chips for $9. We ended up getting 5 of those deals for take out for the family. We had called in and went in to pick up the items and they were great with social distancing. All of their employees had face masks and asked us to move to a space that was further away from everyone else to maintain social distancing. When the food was brought to us, we were asked if wanted any extra vinegar, tartar, and lemons. They were very, very generous. When we got home to try the food, the fish was absolutely lovely. It was deep fried well, with a very tasty batter. It was a huge piece of fish with a very generous helping of fries. They have specials on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday. Can't wait to go again!

"Check Your TakeOut Bags" A friend Recommended Halibut House to me. I went on Wednesday for $10 Cod. Outstanding. The fish & chips were probably the best I've ever had; and I've travelled. The portions were good without being ridiculous. The fries are spectacular as well, and something I really appreciated was that they leave you a bottle of the (I believe made in house) Tartar Sauce. Most places give you a small cup, that never seems to be enough, but these guys let you take care of yourself. Fantastic. I love it so much I immediately had to call another fish and chips lover (my mom) and offer to drop her off one on my way home. I asked my server if she would kindly give me two portions of the tartar sauce with my takeout order. She assured me she would. (Read my title again) Dropped off fish and chips, and when playing it for my mom, saw that it was just fish and ships in the box, with no tartar. People forget stuff from time to time, but when someone asks you specifically for something, and you assure them... right ? If you have a chance to try it, it's amazing. Dine in, if you can.

Portion sizes, batter on the fish, hot crispy fries, a piece of lemon, ditch that horrible packaged tartar sauce.

This would be another 3.5 star review - if only we could do half stars!!…read more Tim's has started advertising specials on Tuesdays, and if last night was anything to go by, it seems to be working! $9.09 for 1 piece and fries; $11.99 for 2 pieces and fries. Does not come with coleslaw. Five or six people lined up for their orders, while 1 woman ran the show by herself - taking the orders, prepping the food, taking payments, and taking orders over the phone. What a show! At one point, I heard a loud noise in the back so I took a peek; it was a cylinder placed on a stand at torso-height, and it was rumbling loud enough to wake the dead, while pouring water out the side into a sink. I thought, "ok, it's laundry." Even though I could not see where she was even using towels. After a few minutes, the woman went to the contraption and turned it off, and placed a metal bowl in the sink. When she opened the cylinder, it contained peeled potatoes!! Magic!! Then she very efficiently took each potato from the open contraption, using a knife, and put it in a french fry cutter bolted to the wall, and quickly cut long slivers of potatoes caught in the metal bowl. It was all very quick and efficient, as well as entertaining. This place, like so many post COVID, is take out only. However, there isn't room for tables here, even in better times. My portion of fish was tasty but small. But the meal was filling!! Here's the caveat: last year I compared pizza joints, and this year it's fish & chips. There's lots of competition!! Tim's is good, and the price is great! But the fish at Manollo in Brockville is better (it is also takeout only, and I've reviewed that too). So I would probably go back to Tim's coz it's very local and not bad. And I enjoyed the show!

Looks like they probably do some concerts since they have a nice stage set up in the back. Servers were really friendly getting us situated with our daughter and the wagon we use to transport her around. Very family friendly as we saw several other parents with strollers as well. Nice menu and a lot of good beer options. Opted to try their radler and it was delicious, before I remembered I'm not supposed to have grapefruit. The waitress was quick to get me a replacement Guinness. The food came out pretty quick. My wife got the Tuna Poke Wonton, which came out deconstructed I guess... actually ended up working out pretty well. It was quite good, but the poke wasn't nearly as fresh as what we are used to in California. My chicken burger was delicious, the cranberry and brie on it made me feel like thanksgiving. It was really hearty and heavy for a chicken burger, but worth it! The highlight might be the kids menu though. The kids can pick from 4 items Poutine, Fish & Chips, Burger & Fries, or Mac n Cheese. But, it comes with a drink and dessert. Clearly our daughter was on cloud 9 getting chocolate milk and ice cream included in her meal. Her poutine was quite good too, not too salty, nice gravy flavor and melty curds. If you're in the area this is a great stop for food or drinks or both.
