The portion sizes are quite good. I had the haddock for delivery and it was still crispy enough but not super deep-fried, maybe even pan-fried. It was tasty, not overcooked, and came with thicker cut chip truck style fries that weren't super crispy and would've been great with salt and malt vinegar if they had any. I had the Alaskan pollock during dine-in because they have an all-you-can-eat fish and chips special every Tuesday and Saturday and the pollock is the only fish available for the special. The fries were thinner and crispier this time, but less fries and more fish, which I enjoyed.. maybe a little too much because I had five pieces haha They were definitely battered and fried and somehow now super heavy since I had so many, even though they were small- to medium-size pieces. They also give you each coleslaw and fresh lemon slices, and a bottle of tartar sauce for the table. Service was quick and friendly, not too packed for a weekday lunch. I asked for butter and lemon and added them myself plus the salt and pepper I had at home. The clam chowder was good, but not consistent. The first time it wasn't very hot and was more classic, creamier with potatoes. The second time it was piping hot, a little less creamy and more peppery, and had other veggies like celery, corn, and shredded carrots, and fresh parsley. Both were good, but different. Our waitress was fantastic and super attentive while she could but she was alone in the whole restaurant and of course she couldn't keep up with the 7 tables with hungry customers, I think the owner should hire at least one more person to help her. There was a person behind the bar but he will just sit you down but not serve the food. The food was good, nothing impressive.. the fish and chips were well made but the wings needed a couple more minutes frying. I don't think I'll be back for lunch but maybe I'll give it a chance one night to see if the atmosphere and service is better.

I have to say that the 3 of us agreed that our burgers were probably the best we've ever had at The Works, anywhere. We had Gettin' Piggy With It, 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon, and the 3-Ring Binder. All of this made us cut our stay here short, and we ended up just ordering some quick eats and heading out after. Hubs got the burger and fries, he demolished it and said it was great. I opted for the garden burger which was made out of beets and black beans. The taste was fine, but the patty was mushy and fell apart. I did kick myself for ordering the garden burger, and wish I did try something else like the onion rings or tacos. Kids shared the chicken and fries and there were no complaints. Service was fine, and to the point, with a check in after the food was delivered. The restaurant is pretty small, so the hostess was the one serving us as well. Probably a great place for locals to grab some drinks, burgers and apps. Would I run back here? Probably not.

We also shared the crab queso dip, which was delicious, and I tried one of their new Hennessy margaritas that came in a cute shaker-style glass -- definitely worth it.
