I love a good sandwich and this place does not disappoint. The hubby and I had lunch here the other day (takeout). I got the PhD on their homemade bun. It's the only vegetarian sandwich on the menu. It's topped with avocado, tomato, gouda, roasted red pepper, lettuce and maple balsamic mayo. It was good, but I wish there was one more veg sandwich option. The bun was also just alright. Next time I will try getting it in a wrap. The hubs tried a more adventurous sandwich. Him being a meat eater, he got the "Sean Evans" which was topped with fried chicken in hot sauce, chips, caramelized onions, dill mayo, and chili pepper cream cheese. I must say, I was kinda jealous. We also split a slaw. It was good, but nothing to write home about. They are also known for their cookie dough, which I will have to try next time. I went to Lunchbox recently and got one of their "lunchboxes" for dinner, lol. I thought it was ok, but a little pricey for what it was. I think it might have been what I ordered. I will go back for a sandwich instead next time. So I had the "Schrute" Salad $8.65, and I added grilled chicken to it for an additional $2.50. I made it a "lunchbox" for an additional $3.25, which gave me a snack, cookie dough and a can of pop. So my whole meal was $16.25. The "Schrute" Salad was baby arugula, pickled beets, raisins, candied pecans and goat cheese. The added chicken was sliced real chicken breast. I got a balsamic dressing on the side. The ingredients were fresh and the portion of chicken was good. I just felt that this was a salad I could have put together myself in my kitchen very easily. When I eat out, I like to have something that I can't make myself easily. The salad was good, but I didn't feel that it was anything special. I chose the Creamy Dill Potato Salad. I usually don't like potato salad, but given all the reviews raved about it, I tried it. I have to say, I did like it very much. I loved that it had bacon in it. Everything tastes better with bacon! There was also cheese. It was creamy, but not overly so and tasted garlicky and dilly, haha. The portion looks huge in my picture, but it is not that large. The container is a larger Solo container, so it's a little bit bigger than the container that my salad dressing was in. For my cookie dough, I chose the "Sharon, Lois and Graham" which was cookie dough with lime cream cheese, shredded coconut and graham cracker crumbs. It was pretty good. It tasted like raw cookie dough and key lime pie. The cookie dough comes in a standard Solo container (you know, the size container that you get soy sauce in when you get sushi takeout - well, when they don't give you packets of soy sauce that is. It's the same size container that my salad dressing came in). I really love the whole "school theme" of the place. The menu is called the "Course Syllabus." Menu items have names like "Substitute Teacher," "Class Clown" and "P.A. Day." On their webpage you can click on "Report Card" and provide feedback. I think this is all very fun and creative. Lunchbox is where Bun Republic used to be. It's a really small space. There are a few tables to sit at and eat, but it's mostly a takeout place. The place is super cute. There's free parking in the back. I feel this place is really cool. I was just not really wowed by my salad. I will try a sandwich next time (which seems to be the more popular choice anyway) and write an update then. read more

So freaking good. Anytime I'm in Orleans I'll stop here. People are awesome and the food was fantastic.

We recently ordered a couple of sandwiches for takeout. Prices were decent. Most of the sandwiches were under $9. I tried half of the summer dress sandwich and half of the nutty professor. The summer dress sandwich consisted of an egg bun with roasted chicken, goat cheese, lemon pepper mayo, cashews, bacon, and arugula. It was very savory and I liked the combination of all the ingredients. The nutty professor sandwich consisted of an egg bun with pork, smoked gouda, roasted red peppers, peanuts, arugula and peanut sauce. It was very flavorful and delicious. Definitely my favorite! Lunchbox is a fun place to go for lunch when I feel like a sandwich. They have lots of options and I have always enjoyed any sandwich I have ordered there. The staff are nice as well. I also really love their edible cookie dough! They come in the cutest little containers and they have quite a few flavours that make a nice little dessert. read more

My lunchbox was awesome! I got the summer dress which has real chicken on it and is full of fresh ingredients like spinach, cashews, bacon and berry goat cheese! The potato salad was good but the highlight of the meal was definitely the sandwich and the cookie dough! Yum! Definitely a local place to return to time and time again to try their entire menu! I went in on a rainy Monday right as they opened and they took the time to explain everything to me and told me that they were just cooking the turkey so if i wanted turkey I would have to wait about 5 minutes and it would be hot instead of cold but I chose the Summer dress, which had chicken. I am usually a wrap kind of girl but the homemade egg bread is definitely the right choice. This place also now has GF buns. I will definitely be returning here to try their entire menu! read more

Schrute" Salad is the absolute best. If the satirical names of the sandwiches don't pull you in, the taste of anything on their menu will.

My husband and I came for a light lunch. We ordered the Hopscotch Hero and the Ph. D. We upgraded for the lunchbox special that came with drinks, sides, and desserts. The service was excellent. They were happy to explain the food and tell us our options for substitutions. The food was delicious with fresh ingredients. I don't generally like potato salad but theirs was fantastic! Very flavorful with a good assortment of textures. Their home made juice was incredible and their signature dessert (a small portion of cookie dough) could easily become an addiction. The portion sizes were perfect for lunch. And their serving dishes are great for carrying out. The decor and music was reminiscent of the 90s. They keep the school house feel throughout. A great restaurant and definitely a place we'll go back to! read more

The menu options are not your average menu options. These sandwiches are premium with super fresh, amazing ingredients. No grocery store deli meat here. My favorite is the class clown by far. Had a wonderful experience and an amazing sandwich from here. Not only did it have wonderful ingredients but the price point was very similar to Subway. I opted for their PA Day and really enjoyed it. For thee dollars more you could get their signature potato salad and cookie dough to make it a complete meal or a lunchbox. I'm giving this place 4 stars. That's a big deal. Food was what it is. Filling and different then any other sub or sandwich joint. We got the fire drill chicken. Sh@% was fire. The menu looks amazing, but I can't tell you anything about the food. I placed a catering quote request for 5 people, knowing it was likely to be under the $100 minimum delivery charge but willing to pay the (unspecified) extra delivery fee to wow some clients. The email response I received said they would be unable to deliver since it was below their minimum. When I called to clarify, to ask about the extra delivery fee, I was told the minimum was actually $200 and that my order was too small to be worth it for them. Sandwiches are delicious, filling, and unique. My husband and I went for lunch and each had a different sandwich, both were delicious. For $3 more you can get a side (there is a variety and includes healthy options) and some cookie dough (again, variety of flavours). Delicious. The customer service was fantastic. This is not your average sandwich. The menu is really awesome, there are lots of options (even vegetarian). I had the Straight As once and the PhD another time and both are amazing. Everything is freshly made with care and the sides (homemade plantain chips) are amazing (I highly recommend their homemade bread for the sandwich). Ottawa desperately needs more places like this. Creative, fresh, delicious and friendly staff. Can't recommend it enough! My only criticism is that salads run a bit small, but they are super tasty. It's hard to find alternatives to the same old Caesar, Greek & Garden salads - lunchbox totally achieves this. read more

Great food, great price, great cookie dough! Awesome little spot in Orleans. Hip scenery and delectable sandwiches that are unique from other Sandwich places. I had the class clown sandwich which was delicious although the pulled beef was a bit dry, that being said everything else in it was excellent. The sweet potato chips with the jerk mayo dip are on another level, so good! After my first time already love this place and know I'll be back! Love having places like this in Orleans. read more
