We generally have a decent experience here. The last couple of years, we've mostly done takeout because of COVID. Our last takeout order was for Mother's Day and it was okay. I got the mussels and shrimp. I ordered the non-spicy specifically so that I could share it with my daughter. I normally order a medium. Unfortunately, it was definitely a "mild". There was definitely some spice to it and it was tough for my daughter to eat. We also ordered the calamari. The batter was definitely a lot thicker and different than we remembered it to be. Unfortunately, it was not as good as we remembered it to be. They also served it with ketchup? We got a container of ketchup. We were also disappointed to not get any utensils or supplies. There were no napkins, gloves, bibs, etc. we normally get those unless that has changed.

I had lunch at the Captain's Boil and overall it was good. My main complaint is that the food was really oily. When I mentioned this to my server after the meal, she told me that I can always ask for no oil, because they pour oil into the boil. I wish I had known this before ordering! I got the Sizzling Plate ($12) which comes with 2 clams, 2 mussels, 2 crawfish, 2 shrimp, and your choice of teriyaki chicken or teriyaki basa (I choose the fish, but in retrospect, should have had the chicken). It also comes with a mound of white rice. This plate is only available before 4pm. The mussels were huge. Clams were normal sized. The shrimp and crawfish still had their shells on and the head and legs were still attached. This made for a messy and slightly creepy eating experience, lol. The pieces of fish (I got 6) were battered and deep fried and were extremely oily. In fact, everything in the boil was really oily. I believe that the chicken is not battered nor fried. I think I would have enjoyed this option better. Nonetheless, the flavour of the sauce (I got mild) was good, albeit too salty for my liking. The rice was satisfactory, no complaints there. I like how the meal is served on a hot plate, so your meal stays hot the entire time. It comes with a warning label that the plate is over 200 degrees Celsius and to be careful. Service was excellent. Brooke was my server and she was a doll. Very friendly and so attentive. There was a man there too, who looked to be the owner or at the least a manager or supervisor, and he too was very nice. He brought out my meal and told me what everything was and warned me about the temperature of the plate. He also asked me if I wanted a water re-fill as soon as my cup was empty. Decor is fun nautical/marine theme. They have pictures of squid and clams on the walls. I like that there is a hand-washing station at the back of the restaurant near the bar, so you can wash your hands before and after your meal (it's away from the washroom, which is great for so many reasons, and there's no door that you have to open so you don't contaminate your freshly washed hands). I love this. I want every single restaurant to have this, lol. Their specialty is the seafood boil which is served in a plastic bag. You put on gloves and a bib and go to town. If this is not your jam, they have plenty of meals served on dishes to be eaten with utensils, so fear not. The Crab Cake Sliders and Soft Shell Crab Tacos (both come with Cajun fries) looked really good and I debated getting those instead of the Sizzling Plate. I would love to see some more vegetables on the menu, and some lighter fare (i.e. not deep-fried, or covered in mayo/sauce, or so oily/greasy). Most of the vegetables are add-ons to the boil; if you're not having a boil, the only vegetable is corn, which is not the healthiest of vegetables. There are no salads on the menu. If you're a vegetarian, I think the only thing you can eat is fries and garlic bread, and I guess the corn if you have it without the fried lobster bits that are usually sprinkled on top. The Captain's Boil is not for those on a diet, lol. This place would get 5 stars from me if the food wasn't so oily and salty, and if they had more vegetables and healthier options (like maybe some salads). The restaurant is in a strip mall, so there's lots of free parking.

I've wanted to try this place for quite some time. And I'm scrambling for words to describe it but wow. Such a different experience from your regular seafood joint. There's no utensils, they provide you with gloves and a bib and you dive it. It's all market priced but much more reasonable than what I was expecting. We got the sailors feast with shrimp, in the Captain Boils sauce - medium and it was fantastic. Way too much food for two people but I'm not complaining about it . We had the opportunity to try several dishes and they were all great. The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday, and now I understand why. Fantastic service, great food and an experience like no other. Edit: my only regret is not getting a picture of all the food. It was so good we just had to dive in!!

Alrighty definitely a fun place to go eat.. it's a whole experience! You get ur apron , the gloves and a big bucket to put ur shellfish in! So basically you pick ur shellfish, ur sides, ur spices and it all comes in a plastic (biodegradable) bag. They also thankfully had fish and chips and chicken tenders for the little ones! It's definitely a mess to eat but a nice experience. Our server was super nice and helpful. And parking here is not an issue.. big parking lot .

My husband and I were so randomly passing by and wanted to try it. Since we used to have two same restaurants in Montreal, and both of them were closed permanently. We saw the daily special board outside the restaurant, and that's probably one of the reasons too. Sunday special is that the shrimp, mussel and clam are 12$ per pound( instead of 14$). We had two pounds. One with Cajun mild and the other house special sauce with medium heat. I added lotus root for 5$. I think it's so worthy. A lot of them and the texture was wonderful. For the sauce, I like the Cajun mild better. Too much heat will cover the taste of seafood I believe. The corn sucked a lot of oil but it's essential in the dish. We also had a calamari 3some. It's tasty. Looks small but really filling. Good price and warm service. I would like to come back.

Love this place... price is a bit high... but where can you get seafood like this. The king crab for the cost is not impressive... snow crab is... so if your ok to out in some effort for your meal... u can order 2 snowcrabs and still save a couple bucks vs. the king crab.. which I got 1 leg. Clams were great too! A must is the corn (in the bag) If your a seafood lover... go here!

With the number of my check-ins here, clearly I love it this place. I usually always get the shrimp in Captain's boil sauce in fire with a corn and extra sauce (about $15). And then we usually order Cajun fries and steamed rice for the table. Couple of pointers- If you think fire spice is not fiery for you, they have another spic level called volcano which is not in the menu but you can ask for it. But mind you, it really is something! You can also ask them to not add oil in the bag if you prefer a slightly healthier version. I personally don't mind the oil. It's like ordering Diet Coke with a greasy burger - it's not helping anyone. This location also has daily specials. My personal favourite is the Wednesday deal which is half price on a 1 pound bag with a purchase of a pint of beer ($6.50) or two non alcoholic beverages ($5). We went for this on a Wednesday night and at the time, they had another deal on top of this - a free pound if your bill is above $40 before tax. The service is always great here. It's usually quite busy on weekends but weekdays are pretty empty.

The seafood is delicious, and it's a messy way to eat. I just feel that they use a lot of plastic bags, which can be changed to some reusable containers.

Very nice and delicious! Captains sauce is super tasty. Highly recommended, and the staffs are kind.

Really nice atmosphere in the hunt club store, only 10 minutes away fro m Carleton University. I went with some friends and we all like the idea of eating the seafood with our bare hands, a lot of fun! They even have a digital menu through Wechat in Chinese, super sweet推荐懒得研究英文菜单的朋友们使用他家的扫码中文菜单,时不时还会有微信代金券,炒鸡方便!餐厅离中超市也很近,吃完还能顺便去买买东西~

They found their meal to be perfect. I will note he has a very high heat tolerance. I had some Sashimi to start, and it was perfectly prepared. Decor is brown/black and gold with lots of windows. They still operate their food truck for events. I was really happy to see this small independently-own business really bopping despite us currently being amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic. They open at 4pm and I called at 4:01pm to place my order for pickup. The lady answered the phone and asked me to hold. She just put the phone down because I could literally hear everything, lol. She was serving a customer who was physically at the restaurant and then when she was done with him she was on a different phone taking a delivery order. She came back to me and apologized for the wait. I placed my order and she told me it would be ready in 20 minutes. I got there about 30 minutes later and the food was ready. They had a lot of orders behind the counter ready to go. Service was quick and friendly. I made some special requests and they were all honoured (no sesame seeds, no bean sprouts and no cilantro). I ordered a General Tao Chicken $12.39 (no sesame seeds) and a Chicken Pad Thai $13.27 (no sesame seeds, no bean sprouts, and no cilantro). Both were delicious. The General Tao Chicken had a slightly spicy kick to it. It came with white rice underneath as well as some vegetables: onions, cabbage, carrots, and (unexpectedly) bean sprouts, lol. I didn't specify "no bean sprouts" for the General Tao Chicken, as this dish doesn't normally contain bean sprouts. It was ok though, because it's not an allergy, just a preference - I don't like bean sprouts. Turned out ok, as my husband doesn't mind bean sprouts and he liked the General Tao Chicken more, so he ate most of it, haha. The Chicken Pad Thai was mild (not spicy), but still flavourful. It had chicken, eggs, onions, cabbage, and carrots, as well as rice noodles. It also had peanuts and came with a wedge of lime. The portion sizes looked a bit small, but they actually were a decent size. There is some free parking in front of the restaurant. This place is really out of the way for me, but if I lived in Riverside South, I would go more often.

I've been meaning to check out Raon Kitchen for several years now, but it's in an industrial wasteland and a part of town that I'm not too often in. As luck would have it, I was about 3km away today running errands and so I decided to pop by. It was a bit after 1pm (on a Wednesday) so the lunch rush was over. I parked in one of the 2 parking spots out front that are reserved for Raon Kitchen customers (there's a big parking lot, with lots of businesses, but most spots seem to be reserved for certain businesses only. All unmarked spots were taken. The parking lot was pretty full). I went in and was immediately greeted. I ordered the Beef Bibimbap ($9.73) and paid. I had enough time to sit down and undo my coat and my food was pretty much ready! The beef bibimbap consisted of purple rice, cabbage, carrots, spinach, julienned omelet, wood ear mushrooms, and bulgogi beef (it usually comes with kimchi, but I asked them to omit it). The food itself was delicious. I love wood ear mushrooms! I liked how the different flavours came together. The beef was tender and lean. I added a bit of hot sauce which gave it a little spicy kick. The only thing is that the portion was tiny. With taxes, I paid $10.99 (and that was just the bibimbap, no drink or anything else), and for an $11 lunch, I expected to not still be hungry afterwards. I'm 5'0" and 102 lbs. I was still really hungry afterwards! :( The place is really small, industrial-looking, and more suited for takeout. I believe that they are the central kitchen for their other locations (a food cart on Bank St. and a restaurant on Laurier Ave. West). There are 2 tables, 1 that seats 2 and the other that seats 4, then there are 2 seats facing out the window (bar seating), which is where I sat, that's it for seating. The Korean fried chicken wings/drums were saucy, with something that tasted like a gochujang based sauce, as well as a ranch with dill. I didn't really taste the miso in the ranch too much, but I did enjoy the flavour profile. We also had the chicken karaage, which was lightly breaded and fried, and paired with a mayo. It was ok but a little plain. Next, we had the dan dan noodles. Dan dan noodles are traditionally very chewy have a nice bite to them but these noodles are a bit on the softer side. The flavour profile was good though. Lastly, we had the beast ramen. The smoked pork belly was nice and crisp and the soft boiled egg was nicely cooked. The noodles seem to be the same ones used in the dan dan noodles. It was enjoyable but the broth wasn't exactly ramen broth that I am used to. I would say that overall it was enjoyable, and prices were reasonable. Service was great. But there is definitely some room for improvement on the dishes. I would consider this more Asian fusion than a noodle bar.

The staff were quite rude and grunted each time we asked them for something. My mom was afraid to ask them for extra napkins because they were so unpleasant. Part way through our meal, the staff decided to eat lunch as well. It's fine that they have their meals in the dining area, however, they completely ignored the customers. Regarding my mom needing extra napkins. She ended up getting up and getting it herself. A couple came in to dine and were waiting at the entrance for a long time for someone to greet them. They finally were seated but then no one came to get their order because they were having their lunch a few tables down. Like I said, they completely ignore the customers. So the couple (who sat at the table across from us) unfortunately got up and left. The food was decent. We ordered 9 dishes and they all were good. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take any photos. However, you can get just as good food at other places with much better service. I do not recommend this place due to poor service.
