This place came highly recommended. Now I were to rate them just on apps they would be a 4 star. The main fish was just OK and the pasta being overly oily. The scallop crudo being on best app IMO. We had to book our reservation 3 weeks in advance because of the time slot, and the day. Saturday at 530. I guess itsya popular time to eat! 3 weeks was worth the wait, as the anticipation of what we were about to enjoy grew stronger. Bread to start, with whipped butter. Hot from the oven. Soft, pillows of carb goodness, with a touch of salt. We started with the TOMATOES WITH FIOR DI LATTE AND RICOTTA STUFFED ZUCCHINI BLOSSOMS which was devine. My main was the ROASTED RAINBOW TROUT WITH BOILED POTATOES, PASTIS HOLLANDAISE AND SEA ASPARAGUS and hers was SWEET CORN AGNOLOTTI WITH BUTTER, PECORINO AND JALAPEÑO. Both dishes were faultless. We finished with Eton Mess with meringue, whipped cream and stewed rhubarb for dessert. It looks like a LOT, but the meringue is mostly air, so we tackled it with ease. And, it wasn't as sweet as expected. Americano to cleanse the palate. Fortunately, we found a parking spot right around the corner, so our full bellies didn't have to go too far. read more

My friend and I have been to this restaurant several times. It has become somewhat of a tradition for us because the food is consistently exceptional. Even the bread and the house-made butter are memorable, which says a lot about the care put into the menu. Every dish we have tried over multiple visits has been impressive, and the kitchen deserves recognition for that level of quality. I also want to note that our bartender was very knowledgeable about wine. She took time to explain pairings and origins (France, Ontario county, etc.), and at dessert she offered us an exquisite amaretto and a high-quality spiced rum for my friend. Those details were appreciated. During this visit, however, the service dynamic at the bar did not align with the overall standard of the restaurant. While we were seated at the bar, the bartender and another staff member were at moments engaged in personal conversations. I have worked in hospitality management, so I understand staff communication happens, but in a high-end environment those conversations should remain discreet. Anything said at the bar can be heard from one end to the other, so what guests hear should ideally relate to service or the dining experience. After we had already paid and tipped, I decided to offer feedback. I said to the bartender directly that staff should be mindful of what is said at the bar, since conversations can be overheard and misinterpreted. I was not trying to obtain anything; I directly expressed that discretion matters in environments like this. The reaction was unexpectedly defensive and disproportionate. The bartender insisted that I was "accusing" her and demanded that I repeat exactly what she had said. Her tone escalated enough that other staff members paused to observe the exchange. At that point, I became reactive as well, which I acknowledge. However, the dialogue did not involve insults or raised voices on my end, and once I realized the conversation was becoming unproductive, I chose to end the interaction. I thanked her, my friend praised the food again and we said goodbye, leaving respectfully. I really enjoy this restaurant, and that is why we keep coming back. This feedback is not about the kitchen or the venue, but about the service dynamic at the bar on this particular evening. In a restaurant operating at this level, professionalism and discretion are part of the guest experience. Fantastic food! The dishes were so delicious and their accompanying sauces/reductions were immaculate. It's too bad that we couldn't enjoy their indoor dining (the ambiance looked great), but I would definitely consider coming back! I was just visiting from out of town, and the experience did not disappoint. We got the albacore tuna crudo, which was incredibly fresh. I had the squid ink rigatoni which was absolutely excellent, and my girlfriend had the giant ravioli, which was fantastic. The best meal we had in Ottawa! This is a small restaurant but you do not feel crowded even when all the tables are occupied. The staff is friendly and the service at a very high level. We had the endive and blood orange salad, the leek and shrimp salad and three of the four pastas on the menu after our server suggested that rather than one full order and one half order we could sample three. She was right and they were all delicious. And our meal here was cheaper than two of the other "big name" places we ate at on other evenings. read more

Simply put, everything I ate at Supply & Demand was delicious. We had a shrimp and whipped roe toast that was packed with seafood umami flavour, a meaty and delicious housemade sausage, and two housemade pastas that they kindly split into individual portions for my girlfriend and I so that we wouldn't have to do it ourselves. Service throughout was very friendly and knowledgeable, and they were able to help me squeeze in a booking when I called in. It's really nice to see a mixture of good technique and unique interpretations of seemingly basic dishes like a sausage or a pasta. I can still remember the pleasant sweetness of the corn pasta peppered with the kick of jalapeno, and the explosion of deliciousness when biting into the shrimp and roe toast. I've been coming here for over five years and it remains among my very favourite restaurants in the city.

This place was delicious and it's location is gorgeous. They have a garage window concept so you can speak to the employees without stepping into the building! The location is also at a corner meaning line up's can easily be done without blocking other entrances, buildings, etc. The handoff and preparation was amazing. I had this with my family and we were skeptical of how oysters were going to be prepared and packaged. We did not know what to expect and were happy to see that they were sitting in this container with a bed of ice. It made it home safely even though our commute was about 30+ min home. The beef tartare was perfectly paired with the waffle potato chips. These chips allowed the tartare to be the focal point, since I usually find that the chips can be dense and overwhelm the texture of the tartare. I never would have imagined I would rave about chips but it truly was delicious! The ahi tuna also had truffle oil that was so well paired together!! The truffle oil was strong which tied to flavours together, I was worried it would be too pulled back but it all went so well together. By this time, having eaten the oysters, tartare, and tuna, we were so full but couldn't help and eat through our main: squid ink pasta. Solid staple and the meatballs were so easy to bit into with so much flavour. Albeit, it's quite pricey to order from this place but I think it's money well spent! Came here during Thanksgiving weekend and it was packed! We made reservations and we were so glad that we did. I love the vibe at Supply and Demand - dark, casual, and rustic. Jumping into what we ordered, we have the Albacore Tuna, Cod Fritters, Kale Salad and the Squid Ink Pasta for the mains. I loved the albacore tuna and everything was just really flavorful and delicious. For dessert, we had the Chocolate Ganache Pie and the Eton Mess. First restaurant while in Ottawa, and I was quite impressed! Hubbard Squash Pasta - good lord I was taken aback by how good this was. It wasn't on an orgasmic level, but it made me straighten up in my chair. The plating is gorgeous with the rose petal arrangement of noodles, the snowfall collection of Parmesan, and the free floating feel of the brussel leaves. The pasta was house made, and I could tell immediately. The brown butter sauce was potent, but not to the point of intense joy. The pumpkin seeds and squash provide beautiful landscape of pumpkin patch rides without the use of cinnamon or nutmeg. The brussel leaves were the true laser beams of flavor that melt my face with intense, butter roasted flavor. The duck dish was great, although I couldn't help to feel the duck could have been better rendered on its skin. The meat itself was moist, but at some points not as tender as I would like. The fig is what really ties everything as a whole together. Without the fig sauce, this wouldn't have been worth ordering. This is the type of restaurant that generate local excitement by offering fresh ingredients with a sense of artistic direction. This is one of the few places I would actually go back. I'm convinced there are more items on the menu that are worth exploring. read more

I constantly keep coming back to this restaurant! What's not to love!? The staff is incredible and friendly, the food is meticulous in quality taste and presentation, price is decent, they make their own homemade bread with specialty butter, they make all their pasta in house. Their kale salad is a must order, top kale salad in Ottawa! Their bartenders are experienced and knows what their doing. I love how you can order the half size or full size pasta dishes. Restaurant atmosphere is classy, tasteful yet modern in a funk loving way. After tall the hype I have been hearing about this place my expectations were high. Fresh pasta, unique dishes etc. I was a little disappointed to find nothing special here. Pasta while fresh and supposedly cooked al dente was hard. The portions were small without much of the good stuff on the plate like the lobster, mussels, shrimp we were paying for. Incredible. From the moment you walk in the door, this place makes you feel like you've been welcomed home with a warm hug! The staff are incredibly attentive, entertaining, friendly and knowledgeable about the food, wine and cocktail menus. The owners, Jen and Steve, set the example. They are extremely hard-working and engaged with their business and their customers. The atmosphere is romantic, fun, light, and trendy. They are gladly able to cater to personal dietary needs and preferences and the food, drinks and wine are exceptional. The menu changes regularly, but adoring fans of mind-blowing staples like the tuna crudo, squid ink rigatoni and kale salad will still have their favourites. Ate here with my boyfriend when visiting Ottawa for Canada Day. We stayed downtown blocks from the parliament so it was very nice to get away from the crowds and venture away from the core for a delicious meal. The service, ambiance and food was perfect!! To start they brought out warm buns and butter made with duck fat and rosemary (added a very nice, smooth subtle flavour). For appetizers we had the beef tartare and the green house made pasta. The small plate of pasta was a perfect size to order as an app. For mains I had the roasted chicken dish and he had the cod. Both were cooked perfectly and the sauces were very savoury. WOW. Okay, so to start off, let me be clear that my aunt had been raving this kale salad all week! I happen to love kale- was like, this place sounds wicked! Aunt surprises me and says might as well go get some of that kale salad (because to be honest- she was craving it ever since she first tried it a few weeks back- and now I know why) Let me start off by saying- all my other reviews need to be knocked down a notch for the comparison to this place! How? Well,... At first when you walk in, you know- you're like- "oh, it's not all that bad looking- they've got a thing for seahorses! I could swing with that!" Service was this really nice cool chick :D she did a great job- not overly anxious or tardy (good job as it's hard to be on the edge of that knife) The little things like their menus and bill pockets are totally adorable and very simple yet catchy (loved that!) But wow. Their food was to die for! Okay- I'm a vegetarian, so to begin with, the place isn't catered specifically to us, but do they ever excel in what they offer (they do have various plates available where modifications can be made- the chef is such a doll ((he/she stole my heart)) ) the menu itself is made (by the looks of things) by inspiration of the chef- and certain plates (like their lovely and oh so delicious kale salad) stay around pretty neat year long (if I'm not mistaken ;) ). My aunt will vouch for my reaction to the food. Kale salad each (which btw- is super fresh crispy leaves covered in a very thin yet succulent Caesar and loads of grated parmigiana ((I think?)) ) cheese) and our mains that we shared were these lovely beets (that had a balsamic sauce, feta cheese, onion) and pasta dish (caramella pasta with this SO GOOD cheese within) covered in a wine like sauce(?). I stopped every thing I was doing- thought processes halted, conversation stopped- nada. My aunt wanted to take a picture of my face lol! But what nearly made me cry was the "Apple pie" (which happy belated PI day of the century to you all)! And by all means- I do mean I teared up, it was that good. This thing is like a pizza pocket pouch that was enrobed in cinnamon/brown sugar, was oozing brown sauce and had a dollop of sour cream ice cream on it... OMG The end. We were fortunate enough to have Mom take us out for dinner this week and I got to pick the restaurant :) First time here and we had high expectations......4 reviews - all 5 stars......pretty rare to see that on YELP. Nice casual, atmosphere - we were seated do and waited on immediately, drink orders were taken and a very extensive explanation of the menu was given as it was our first time there. The servers were fantastic all night, some of the best front of house in the biz as far as i'm concerned - very casual look, jeans and professional shirts.....totally my style. The minute my water glass was empty someone came to refill it......and same with my wine glass now that i think about it......... i ordered the kale Caesar salad, amazing, super tasty with this great thick bacon bits.....my main was the Pork Loin and Pork Sausage cooked sous vide with a palenta puree....amazing super moist. one of the best restaurants i've been to in a long time. I'm sorry to disappoint my Ottawa yelp people by not giving this place 4 or 5 stars. I don't want to come off as a Toronto @$$hole and slag an up and coming place but this review is honest. I am from Ottawa originally and am very impressed that Supply and Demand, such a happening hipster place, could open it was when I grew up, a sleepy little burb not so long ago. My mom ( a foodie from before it was cool) and my step-dad were keen to try the place and even though I have my reservations about trendy places , I was game to go as well. First impressions were that everyone was friendly while a bit standoffish and my parents defiantly added to the average age of customers in the joint by around 20 years. We tried large selection of the menu. For starters we had the beef carpaccio, the tuna tartare and the scallops with pomegranate. All of the starters were good. My beef was thinly sliced and delicious with a nice bit of citrus tang. . The scallops and tuna were both nicely seasoned and balanced as well. If the meal had ended there this place would get 4 stars. Then onto the mains. I had the squid ink and pruscutto carpaccio, my mom had the smoked tuna with deviled eggs and my step dad the agricole pasta. The squid ink pasta was interesting. A little bit spicy and had an interesting texture. The first few bites were great but then I started to feel my mouth dry up and began to quickly drink my water. I tried mom's trout and the eggs as well and noticed the same thing. It was so salty it began to dominate over the rest of my palette and really ruined the overall meal. Here is the rub, there are two things that could have happened. What I hope was that because it was a Monday , the expediter and the chefs were taking it a bit easy and were maybe a bit too vigorous on the salt / seasoning. What I'm afraid of is a more structural problem , where the head chef has used salt and other seasonings to deliver a big hit of addictive flavour to people, who may not notice that its dominating the more subtle flavours. I'm hoping to go back and try some more dishes, and cheer for a place in my once formally sleepy burb read more

Supply and Demand is one of my favourite restaurants. Their meals are creative and beautifully crafted and above all FRESH and delicious! I always go with one of their handmade pastas and the oysters! Absolutely delicious, great drinks as well! Their dessert is also quite amazing. Went to this Westboro spot on an Eater recommendation - Saturday night reservation in August. Restaurant about 90% full. Friendly greeting, table ready. I began with an assortment of three different Canadian oysters. These were fresh, delicious, with a variety of condiments. La Portena had a squid ink pasta to begin - nicely done, primi piatti portion - tasty little meatballs. Our mains were excellent - she had the cod, I the lamb. Both dishes were plated with baby spinach and a puree. The lamb also came with a few chickpeas, and a a sprig of something delicate (chervil?) adorned the fish. The mains were perfectly cooked and it was a good thing we liked them - they were the only two main courses to choose from - no specials. I suppose the dishes attractively were specials as the online menu now features different items. We drank wines by the glass which were of good quality. For dessert we opted for an affogato over the huge Eton Mess - perhaps a mistake there. Service was spot on, and our knowledgeable server directed us to an open pharmacy in the area to deal with an insect bite. A shout-out to her. Were the menu a bit fuller, I might have given five stars. Maybe most customers stick to a variety of small plates. read more

I really, really enjoyed this place. Location and Decor: This is on a somewhat quiet street, or at least seemed like it when we got there, but the place was packed! Great sign! The decor is very comfortable hipster (when you see the wall paper, you'll understand. I loved it), and boy do they keep it nice and toasty in there! Service: Our server was ON IT. It's not always easy accommodating folks with nut allergies and dietary restrictions, but he went above and beyond, making sure everything was ok, on the side, or just clear that you couldn't eat it (if you had an allergy). Not always easy with a menu as small as theirs! Major points to him and the kitchen for being flexible. Food: Yes. Yes. Give me all the things! They bring out fresh rolls with -- wait for it -- whipped pork butter. COME ON. YUM. Brilliant move chefs, brilliant. We ordered everything from the Garden part of the menu - tasty beet salad, mushrooms and brussels sprouts. All very good. We also got both of the pastas that night. I adored the tuna meatball pasta. Not only was it spicy (nice surprise! I love it!), but it was nicely seasoned and really a great combination with the fish and sauce. Would get again. Skipped dessert. The food here is amazing, hands now my favourite restaurant in all of ottawa. The appetizers were wonderfully paired, the tuna crisp with the truffle oil and lemon adding the puffed rice for some texture was heavenly. My favourite dish of this meal. The stuffed peppers eaten with the thin slices of squash it sits on in a citrusy sauce paired really well with the mozzarella inside the peppers. All the pastas are freshly made, cooked to perfection and slightly chewy. Each one has a different flavour and the components that gave its flavour really elevated the dish such as dates to sweeten the beef cappellettini. This is a sweet savoury pasta. The squid ink was my favourite. There's a pasta for every taste on the menu Another thing that matched the food was the service. Our server was incredibly professional, welcoming and friendly. For he broccoli good char and good flavours could have been a little bigger for $14. For the pasta squid ink rigatoni with tuna meat balls. The squid ink flavour comes out of the pasta so strong it's so good! Usually squid ink pasta is just for the color but damn this was delicious. The tuna meatball was super soft that's a first in my books by the way The goats cheese and corn raviolis, were amazing light and summery. Came here Sunday night to treat a friend to oysters for her birthday (can everyone celebrate their birthday this way please? :P) They had Conway pearls which is a nice change from the usual Malpeques; in the beginning they were able to have three kinds though. Now there is an ordering restriction, only 12 at one time for each person (but you can order the next 12 right after the first batch comes out)! Service was quick, and we were brought extra horseradish when requested, and more bread (omg, the bacon butterrrrrrr is soooo goooood). We probably had 5 plates of bread between three people (no shame! Carbs are amazing) We did not try the food or desserts, but next time I'll get the Eaton mess, which looked amazing as it was brought past our table! It's gigantic and feed 4 if needed, so keep that in mind when ordering. It's cake, fruit jam, gelato, meringue and on fire!. A lovely place! It has a nice atmosphere without feeling toooo hipster. The bread with the bacon butter was so moist and savory. I ordered the smaller sized squid ink spaghetti with the grilled carrots. The pasta was very good, I'm not a huge pasta person but even I thought it was very good. The carrots were even better, the yogurt mixed well with the caramelized flavor in the roasted carrots. My friend ordered the chicken, and it was so juicy. I would never usually order the chicken breast because they're usually too plain but it was so juicy and the skin had such great spices on it I would consider it! Started off with oysters, the roasted Brussel sprouts (amazing!) and the steak tartare. All were delicious. For the mains, I myself had the cod and my friends both had the chicken. All three plates had nothing left by the end. Finished off with the baked Alaskan cake. Was a bit pricey but the cream cheese gelato and the delivery of the cake in itself was worth the extra money.
