The first clue was waiting 10 minutes for a rickety table in a poor location, despite having made reservations. Then a further wait for a server, followed by a further wait for water, topped off with an incorrect drink order. Can't comment on the food, as an inquiry after an hour wait SINCE ordering revealed it would be at least another 15 minutes. At that point we left, to find fast food for the children. The restaurant, busy when we arrived, remained chaotic, despite having cleared out since our arrival. Happy Mothers Day!

Fat Bastard Burrito is a chain from Toronto. Of all the fast food Tex-Mex chains (Chipotle, Mucho Burrito, BarBurrito, Quesada, etc.) I like Fat Bastard the most. They have the greatest variety of toppings and they have more unusual toppings like noodles, lol. They also don't charge you extra for guacamole, and most places only allow you pinto OR black beans, but here you can get both :) Their burritos are consistently tasty and always well wrapped and grilled. They have a Wednesday special where you can get a small taco for $6.99. They also have Cinco de Mayo specials , I think it was $5 or $6 for a small taco. And I discovered that April 4 is National Burrito Day and they had a small taco and a canned drink for $5.99. I especially loved that they had Bubly and it qualified as a canned drink (some restaurants charge you more for flavoured carbonated water). Bubly is my least favourite brand of flavoured carbonated water, but I prefer it over soda pop (regular or diet). This location is small with only 3 tables for eating in (2 tables for 2 and one table for 4). It's in the Hampton Park Plaza. Lots of free parking in the plaza parking lot. (57)

It did not disappoint. I had the tuna tartare, crispy fish, and grilled chicken taco. Surprisingly, the tuna tartare (the most expensive one) was my least favourite; something about it tasted too earthy and I couldn't taste the tuna that much as the other flavours were overpowering. The crispy fish is a must-try, and the grilled chicken is a pleasant surprise - you don't expect it to blow you away, but somehow it does. I also had a bite of the steak taco which was delicious.

On a Sunday night, it was not super busy but there were enough people that it didn't feel empty inside. A bit pricy but we also got drinks, and most trendy Mexican restaurants are like this these days. To start, I shared guac & chips - no complaints, we enjoyed and it was very fresh. The added tomatoes were nice. I ordered 3 tacos - the beef barbacoa was fine but the portion of dipping jus was tiny for 3 beef tacos. The best taco for me was the tuna tartare crispy taco. Loved the flavours and the fish was just delicious! My friends had the chicken tacos and said they were spicy but they liked them a lot. However, I did not enjoy the ox tongue taco and didn't finish it. I ordered it because all the reviews about it were so positive, but I didn't like how they just put two huge pieces of meat in a taco. It tasted very gamey and I didn't like the spongy texture either. The piña colada cocktail was yummy - I could taste fresh pineapple and it was very creamy.

She said we were lucky the restaurant doesn't add automatic gratuity to the bills, because she should have received AT LEAST a 20% tip. We were appalled that she said this to my husband, in front of our group of friends. We asked to speak with the Manager. She said she was the Manager, and walked away. Jaw dropping experience. We felt like requesting the tip back, that we had given her; for her sub-par service. Hence why she was not tipped 20% originally. As customers, WE get to decide the gratuity we would like to leave the wait staff, according to their level of service. She didn't deserve a tip because she took our order and brought us our bill.
