The Long Version: Freshslice Pizza is a Canadian chain founded in British Columbia in 1999. It only recently expanded to Ottawa last year (2024). I find it similar to Pizza Pizza in quality. Their classic slices are $3.25 and premium slices are $3.75. I got a Hawaiian slice, which is considered a classic slice. It was on the small side and served in a paper bag with the crust side facing out. I feel they should have put it in the other way around so I could eat the slice while keeping it in the bag and not get my hands all greasy and dirty, but that might just be a personal quirk. I'm sure most people have no issues taking the pizza slice out of the bag entirely and holding it with their bare hands and eating it on the street like that, lol. The amount of toppings was ok, not generous but not stingy. The taste was very unmemorable though. I didn't find it anything special. But I guess for the price it's acceptable. I mean even bad pizza is still pizza, right? Haha. Service was courteous and efficient. Street parking only. Review #186 (2025)

I've been watching Freshslice Pizza get renovated since the summer. I didn't know anything about…read moreit until a friend of mine mentioned it was from Vancouver. I was interested to check it out...since it's pizza, let's be honest. The first time I came by, I. thought my friend was going to meet me here but he ended up at a different pizza spot so I had to delay it. When I was there, I thought some of the slices looked like they had nice colouring on them and would be back. A few days later we dropped by and saw they had a really nice unlimited toppings pizza special. We decided on the medium with unlimited toppings which was only $12. After 15 minutes or so, I was out the door with a new pizza. I got home, popped it open and it was still holding hot and fresh. No weird side effects from the walk. Toppings looked solid and so did the bake. I pulled a slice and had a bite. I have to say, not a fan but also not terrible. The bake looks good but it doesn't taste like the bake indicates. I'm unsure if they add malt or something to do the dough for the colouring cause it's not as crispy as the colour indicates. I'm not a fan of the pizza crust. As for the toppings, they're decent. Even though this pizza wasn't for me, you may really enjoy this type of crust! Give it a shot and report back

It's located downstairs from Res Commons at the tunnel level, so you can take the stairs down or just come in through the tunnels. This is amazing when it's cold out or if you live in one of the residences, you can easily just roll out of bed and get something to eat. You can grab a quick bite between classes and sit at one of the tables to study. They have Pizza Pizza, but they also have a pretty good selection of hearty burgers, fried food, soup, and sandwiches - every student's dream. The price isn't crazy high either and if you're a Carleton student, you can use your meal plan to pay for your meal, so that's even better for those on a student budget. As a bonus, Oasis is open until 3am everyday, weekdays and weekends included. As an even better bonus for those living in res, they deliver! You can call them for their menu or stop by and pick one up. Their extension is 8312.

There's simple stuff like fries, chicken tenders, pizza and burgers. Although it tastes good, the food is expensive and not worth as much as you'd be paying for it. Aside from all of this, the staff is wonderful there! They are super kind through out the whole night.

Though I was disappointed to find they no longer make those tacos, I tried the barbacoa, and it was amazing--one of the best tacos ever! The chicken asado was good, but the barbacoa was truly outstanding. I also ordered a drink called the El Camino, not realizing it was very spicy due to Serrano peppers. When I mentioned it, the waitress was incredibly understanding and swapped my drink without making a fuss or charging me. Five stars for the delicious food and exceptional service!

On a Sunday night, it was not super busy but there were enough people that it didn't feel empty inside. A bit pricy but we also got drinks, and most trendy Mexican restaurants are like this these days. To start, I shared guac & chips - no complaints, we enjoyed and it was very fresh. The added tomatoes were nice. I ordered 3 tacos - the beef barbacoa was fine but the portion of dipping jus was tiny for 3 beef tacos. The best taco for me was the tuna tartare crispy taco. Loved the flavours and the fish was just delicious! My friends had the chicken tacos and said they were spicy but they liked them a lot. However, I did not enjoy the ox tongue taco and didn't finish it. I ordered it because all the reviews about it were so positive, but I didn't like how they just put two huge pieces of meat in a taco. It tasted very gamey and I didn't like the spongy texture either. The piña colada cocktail was yummy - I could taste fresh pineapple and it was very creamy.

I found the…read moreprice to be a bit more expensive than I would normally pay for a burger meal, but I got a ridiculous amount of food for what I paid, so it's a great value for big eaters. The quality, on the other hand, is not the greatest. I got the Green Monster with avocado, bacon, cheddar cheese, and roasted garlic and chili aioli. The burgers and toppings are fresh, but my bread was stale, and because of the size of the burger, the bread got soggy really fast and it all turned into a sloppy mess. The taste was pretty good but they were heavy on the aioli and I would have preferred the avocado sliced instead of made into a kind of mush. There were a ton of sweet potato fries, more than I would ever need as a side, but they were soggy and overcooked. I asked for a side of chipotle mayo for dipping - if the sweet potato fries were crispy, they would have tasted a lot better together. Overall, cost is higher than fast food but affordable, portion is huge, taste is good, but a pretty messy. Worth it if you're in the mood for a big, greasy, homemade burger!
