This past weekend, we visited Straw Hat Pizza on our way to Santa Cruz. The busy atmosphere was a positive sign that the food was likely good. A young man greeted us patiently and took our order. Despite the staff's busyness, we never felt rushed or pressured. He later brought our food and kindly updated us on the remaining items, assuring us they'd arrive soon. It's uncommon to see such attentive service from young adults nowadays, so I asked for his name to write this review. The worst pizza I've ever had and not great customer service. We ordered a classic vegie pizza plus zucchini. It had zucchini but no artichoke which its supposed to have. The toppings were added with no care at all; part was heavy on toppings other parts not so much. The worst part is that the crust was like some kind of flavorless unleavened cracker. I am positive it was the gluten free that we did not order. I called and was connected to the guy who made the pizza. "I assure you that is our regular crust". I've had Straw Hat before and this is not that. He offered to make another small pizza, though we ordered a large and he said the crust would be the same. Because not every place offers gluten-free options, we tried Straw Hat when some friends were in town (their daughter has to eat gluten-free). Unfortunately, the pizza was not what we hoped it would be. Yelpers kinda failed me here! LoL I'd read another review that said the gluten-free pizza at this location was good so I ordered a large cheese pizza. I went and picked it up but didn't pop open the box while I was there. When I got home... I was kinda embarrassed to offer this nearly burnt, crunchy, cardboard pizza to my guests. I thought $30 for a large cheese should guarantee quality but it was cardboardy, overcooked, and so thin... not substantial enough to feed a few kids. Next time, my friends said we should just buy a few frozen gluten-free pizzas like they normally do. Because of their good customer service and many great reviews, however, I'm sure I'll go back and try their other offerings. Might see ya there. read more

We are staying in Moss Landing for a few days. While out in a drive I needed coffee and stopped by a Starbucks and in the same shopping center we came upon this Straw Hat pizza. I hadn't had straw hat in years. We ordered a basic pepperoni pizza, wings, salad bar and free twists (I checked into the place via Yelp). The pizza was perfection, SO NOT BASIC. The crust was crunchy on the bottom, cheesy and delicious pepperoni baked into the pie. I was impressed with the speedy service and cleanliness as well. Thanks for a yummy meal to the owner! If you DoorDash order there are no substitutions so call! We got a vegan veggie (they have vegan cheese for 3.00 more) and an individual Watsonville Mexi- Pizza w/o Jalapeños. Both orders had the ingredients well spread throughout the pizza so you got something in every bite. The order was ready before time and the guys in the store could not have been any nicer. I trusted the fantastic reviews but was disappointed. Very doughy pizza. Very dirty restaurant. I do not recommend.

After a long day at work, I wanted something filling to stuff my face with. Since I figured pizza would be a good choice for a guilty pleasure, I gave Straw Hat a try. I called in my order, and the person over the phone took it without a hitch. Placed an order for 6pcs of chicken wings, a medium Straw Hat's The Works Pizza, a Pizza Cookie, and a 20oz liter of coke (it might have been all for me, but in my defense, I had leftovers so I didn't eat it ALL in one sitting). The pizza was decent, and wings weren't bad, however they got my pizza cookie order wrong and instead gave me a pizza brownie. Not a huge deal, but unfortunately half the brownie was burnt. Service here was very pleasant, so I'm hoping this was just a one-off. Look forward to giving them another try next time I'm in Watsonville and updating my review then. read more

This is, by far, the greatest restaurant in Watsonville. The pizza is tasty, the salad bar is well stocked, and they have tons of choices for fountain drinks. They have a good selection of beers on tap and their cinnamon whiskey shots are delicious. The first time I went there, I was the only diner for lunch, yet Joe asked if I had any requests for the buffet--and just like that he made a fresh pizza. How rare is that!? What makes this restaurant the best are the people working at it. You can tell they love this spot. Joe and Camille, especially , are amazing. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The atmosphere is positive, inviting, and clean. I still go often for the lunch buffet, and honestly, I feel like I'm at home there. Thank you very much! You guys rock. read more

Long overdue review. Great place, friendly staff and locally owned by good people. The food comes out hot and the pizza is very good and consistent. They have tons of tv's and GREAT customer service. I appreciate the kind smiles of the staff, it's like they want to be there. Tonight we rented out the main area and had our fantasy football draft. They were super accommodating, they put on football for us on there what seems like 100 tvs and turned the volume up for us, it was a great time and I highly recommend them. I ordered two of their vegetarian pizza's with vegan cheese. They had added a lot of cheese which is great. The Classic Veggie Pizza had nice combo of topics and was our favorite.
