Deep dish pizza with jalapeños, mushrooms & olives...and Seaside Lager.
    Linda O.

We were starving after some lumber shopping and I remembered there was a pizza place nearby that I had been wanting to try, so we stopped in. It wasn't busy and we didn't have to wait in line. I wanted to try their deep dish pizza, and they don't serve it by the slice so we decided to wait for a whole pizza. In the meantime, we shared a nice beer (they kindly offered to divide it into 2 nice glasses). It wasn't a long wait before the pizza was ready and they served it up nice and hot. Boy, was it tasty! It had a perfect combination of crispy crust on the bottom, that transitioned to a soft chewy texture, lots of very yummy sauce, plenty of cheese, and the toppings. I can see why they don't recommend the deep dish pizza "to go", as the moisture in the ingredients would soften the crispy bottom of the crust. We finished the whole pizza between the two of us (did I say we were starving). My dining companion loved the interior, but it wasn't my cup of tea, it's a little on the sparse and funky side, but once the pizza arrives, you don't really notice it. I hope to be back in the neighborhood soon, to have another round...or deep dish, in this case.

    The Detroit 313!!!! Sooooooo good.

Everything about the 313 hits home for NEPA tray pizza! The service is fast, the pizza is great and the locations downtown and at the hangar are awesome. Great team! It's our Friday night go to.

Slice Project Pizza is truly a gem! A nice family owned restaurant where you can tell that they put love into their craft. This pizza is so comforting and truly warms the soul. Definitely my favorite pizza on the West Coast and a must visit when in town or passing by. Thank you Chris and Ramón for the authentic hospitality!

This place is so damn good. We ordered the Detroit style 313 pizza and it blew us away. The crust is perfect, crisp and buttery goodness. The dough is fluffy, the sauce is so flavorful and distinct. Pepperoni is great quality. We also got the cheese bread which was a 10/10 as well. We definitely recommend this place.

We tried the large size Detroit Style 313 and it easily fed our family of two adults and two little ones. But honestly, it was so good that I wish I would have ordered two larges! The crust is airy like focaccia bread. The cupping peps were not too spicy which was ideal for our group. The ingredients tasted of good quality. So, so delicious! We will definitely be back when we are in Watsonville area.

Store is located on the corner and not much parking to be had during the lunch rush so had park down the street and around three corner. There was a line and most seats were filled (good sign). Not an intimate place for a date, but a good place to go during lunch or after a movie. They do sell beer. The restroom is clean and they have 1 high chair. As for the pizza. It was great! I lived in NYC for 5 years and also Connecticut and I consider myself a pizza snob. The crust was light and airy with that char & crisp that you want. The sauce had that perfect blend of acidity, richness and the taste of tomato. The mozzarella was wonderful. I was transported. Easily the best plain slice I've had on the central coast. It's a 30 minute drive from Monterey, but worth it. Definitely coming back. Price: $10.60 (includes a $1 tip)

    Lil Pep. Get it!

If you've ever had A Slice of NY in San Jose or Sunnyvale, or Slice House by Tony Gemignani, then you'll LOVE Slice Project's NY-style pizza. The Lil Pep is the epitome of pepperoni and the Supreme is LOADED with super fresh ingredients. We got it to-go and it was piping hot. We haven't tried their square pies yet and CAN'T WAIT to try their smashed burgers (only on Tuesdays).

I see vegan option, is there gluten free crust option?

Yes, we need a day notice to prepare the gluten free dough. The gluten free pizzas comes in a Detroit style pizza (10x8). However we do not make vegan/gluten free pizzas. Vegan pizzas come in a NY style. We have yet to develop a gf/vegan pizza.

The service was great, all employees that we encountered were super nice and friendly. It was also pretty clean given the fact that it was the middle of a busy Saturday night. The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star review is that there could have been more tables inside. I felt like there was alot of dead space that could have been better utilized. It was pretty chilly the night we went, so sitting outside without a heater was a bit of a buzz kill and we would have stayed longer had we had a different place to hangout. The customer service was fine, though not table waited, You order at the cash register and then pick up the food there. The turn around on an order was good and the portion on the fries generous. I would note, one word of caution. Not sure what brand of Ketchup they use but it should be avoided or atleast taste tested before you douse your food in it. It didn't agree with me or my coworker. But on the other hand, the BBQ at the table was delicious. I feel like it might be made in house but it was the delivery system for both the burgers and fries. To management, keep it simple Heinz on the ketchup. Overall experience was good and will likely revisit again in the future.
