They work hard and are so friendly.. the owner really takes pride. We love it. Close by, salad bar is good, we enjoy just sitting there and eating read more

I stopped in yesterday for lunch. The place was empty not a single customer that should have been the warning i needed.I ordered a calzone theyre version anyway..the calzone comes with fries ..anyway besides the rude uncouth cashier. the calzone was hard and nasty the amount of fries was a joke not even kidding there were 14 fries total .I went back inside to ask about the lack of fries and the rude cashier said thats all I get and the portion was 4 ounces it was clearly less than that.the experience was bad and i will never go back and would warn anyone craving pizza DO NOT GO THERE...... read more

Pizza over priced. Ordered meat lovers literally no meat no cheese. $18.00 For medium pizza . I got ripped off. Never going back read more

Straw Hat Pizza - Pizza Near Me - Long Beach, California

Hands down some of the best pizza I've had in a long ass time. We order the Garlicky Chicken- damn! Family friendly! The crust is crunchy, not greasy, fresh toppings and so tasty! Check this place out, they're great and we're so happy we did. read more

This is my hubby's favorite pizza spot. Apparently the original Straw Hat Pizza is located in Riverside, which is where my hubby grew up. Well, after all these years - he's still a loyal fan, and I've become a fan too! There's definitely a "Mom and Pop" kinda feel to Straw Hat. It's a small business chain, and seems to have been around for a little while. The decor and furniture in the restaurant are likely the original, but I think that's what my hubby and I like about it. It's classic. The pizza is great! The crust is thin (not too thin), and they are pretty generous with their cheese and toppings. And their beer? You can get a big ole' 32 ounce for only 6 bucks! Pizza and beer is always a great combo :) Prices are reasonable, considering the quality of food you'll receive. Check it out if you get the chance, and you'll see what I mean. Enjoy! read more

See...when I was a little kid, Straw Hat was my favorite pizza. Plain and simple it was good stuff. I would try to cram so much of this stuff down my throat, it was silly. I can clearly remember putting one slice on top of another (cheese on cheese) to make a pizza sandwich. Nothing but cheese on my pizza back then thank you. No ranch...it wasn't around yet. Just that thin crust...some sauce...and that blend of cheese. Mmmm. And then for some reason Straw Hats started closing all over the place. Who knows why? Maybe the whole thick crust thing with all of those fancy toppings pushed the once venerable thin crust pizza (some would say cracker crust) into the back seat. Or maybe it was that diabolical Dominos thing that happened... Either way, I didn't see a Straw Hat for years. Flash forward a bucket full of years while I'm at the in-laws place in Long Beach. "We ordered some pizza. Jon should be here with it a few." "Cool." And then there they were...boxes of Straw Hat pizzas. My jaw must have hit the ground. Simply wonderful. This location is probably the closest Straw Hat to me now, but every once in a while I make an effort to get here and enjoy myself. Yeah part of my 4 star rating is a tribute to great memories, but hey it's a simple good pizza. read more

I'm going all-in with five stars! The pizza never disappoints and is consistently delicious. My boys LOVE the arcade and little ticket prizes. Any time I can take them somewhere "fancy" for pizza and games, it's a win for all! Oooh and the ice cold beer! Makes for an overall pleasant experience! read more

Worst customer service I've ever had at a pizza restaurant. Called in an order, gave the guy my CC number, he said he didn't get the last 4 numbers, and I gave them again. I question him to make sure he didn't add extra numbers. Sadly 30 minutes into a 45 minute delivery, they called back to say they didn't get the right CC number and they hadn't even started the pizzas. We had to canceled the kids Halloween pizza. read more

Not sure why the bad reviews...pizza is good (been here multiple times & only once was the pizza a little too oily) the service is your typical pizza place- young kids working. They are friendly, respectful & helpful!! Never eaten in, but they have big screen TVs & a small game area. read more

3.5 stars, but rounding up to 4 because of the nostalgia factor. My stars: (5=epic "best of") (4=really tasty and want to go again and again) (3=good and will go back once in a while) (2=fair, might return for a visit if there was some glimmer of hope) (1=avoid at all costs) Go or No? Go Tease: Straw Hat Pizza was the gold standard of pizza parlors in the 70's...and the one we checked out matched my highest expectation. Why I went: I did not realize my childhood pizzeria was still in existence (in a different city mind you), and I wanted to re-live the experience. When: 7/19/14 Food: My wife and I split a small sausage and red onion pizza. It had a really nice thin crispy crust, good rich sauce, a nice layer of cheese that wasn't too much or too little and a fair amount of toppings given the size of the pie. The place I'd most compare it to is Round Table. It was a tasty pizza. Really, better than we were expecting fearing (like many things in life) our memories were better than the reality. But it was a win. We'd gladly go again. Service: Very nice. Hints/Final thoughts: We went looking for nostalgia and got it! The place is a bit of a blast form the past. There is a room for ball teams to celebrate and there's an arcade section. They had a good selection of tap beers including Firestone on one end and PBR on the other. They have other items like salads, calzone, sandwiches and other snacks. We can only attest to the pizza, and it was a tasty thin crust pie. read more

Kind of pricey but you get what you pay for, delicious pizza that also has good deals, when they have them. This is a good and proper California pizza. Delicious cheese and toppings. They will accommodate you. They have a Good pan crust. It's relatively clean for a self seating pizza parlor and they get busy, so kudos for keeping it clean for the most part. They have a mini arcade and that's cool. Big tables for large groups. Salad bar is maybe a bit disappointing but besides that, well you go there for the pizza not salad. A solid 4 stars. read more

I was tooling around looking for lunch after a long hike and needed a low key place to get some grub. Straw Hat fit the bill. The food was pretty good and it had unlimited soda refills which was good as I was dehydrated. This is definitely one of those places that you'd go if you had a bus full of kids to feed which was the case when we arrived. It looked like a post softball game party or something as there were a million of girls running around. It didn't bother me any because that's the type of place this is, it's got video games in the back as well as those kinds that spit out the tickets for prizes. The pizza and bread twist things were pretty good to. I'd definitely head back if I was every in the area. Oh and there was plenty of parking... at least on a Sunday afternoon. read more

I can't lie: there are several better pizza places in the area to choose over Straw Hat. But it's better than two-star pizza, which is what the reviews seem to average out to here on Yelp. It's still the same corporate-style tasting pizza from your childhood, with the crust that is ok - not great, but perfectly find when the pizza is still piping hot. PLUS, the AYSO kids in the area sell a discount card that gets you two-for-one medium pizzas, so that brings the price down. The domestic draft beer prices aren't bad -- and even cheaper for Monday Night Football. Not my first choice when I want good pizza to eat at home, but fine for a night with a sports team. read more

Went there for kids party and the food was mediocre. My son had a problem with the video game that ate coins and the manager did nothing. My son was crying and felt bad and the manager could care less. Customer service??? All you needed to do is replace a quarter, instead... you did nothing. I will take my business some place else. read more

I Love Straw Hat,.... It has been My Favorite Pizza since I was a little kid growing up in LB, and Almost every Tuesday I try and order a Large Pepperoni. I live in Huntington Beach now but in my opinion it's Worth the Drive! I read another peoples Reviews regarding the 50% Off on Tuesdays that was negative and I can tell U I have Never had a bad Pizza from Straw Hat! Some people would Complain if they were Hung with a New Rope! I would Highly recommend Straw Hat to Everyone :) read more

Been years since had straw hat and pizza was good. Ordered the meal deal that cake with wings and potato things. Wings and potato were cold but pizza was hot. read more

Straw Hat pizza saved the night after a bad experience at another pizza place. The pizza was delicious with a tender yet crunchy crust, generous toppings and wonderful service. Everyone was friendly, attentive and pizza came out perfect! Job well done! read more

I've been a guest at this place since I was a little kid with my grandfather and I always love to come here on my days off from work for a nice little lunch. The pizzas here never disappoint and they are very reasonably priced. The drinks are also very affordable as well. The service is always friendly and quick. The workers recognize me as well which always makes me feel welcome and right at home. I have been coming here for almost twenty years for a reason! read more

I went to straw hat for my moms birthday the other night and Pramod was our server. He was super polite the whole time I will definitely continue to come back here! read more

Me and my boyfriend came in for lunch. It was our first time in the supervisor was awesome helping us decide what to eat. I think her name was carlie. The owner denise was also very friendly checking how the food was. We are definitely coming back again. read more

I love this place!! Their food is amazing and delivery was fast, my delivery driver was also super nice

Overpriced, poor service. A pitcher of domestic beer here is $13, which is much more than similar pizza places. The employees are always very sullen and rude. I used to come here often, but will not be going here again if I can avoid it. read more

Been here a few times. Their pizza is good and their beer is good. Service can be a hit or miss but then again when they have 2-4 parties going at the same time...well its to be expected. However the service is always friendly and with a smile. Love coming here after a really hard derby practice with the ladies and just relaxing and enjoying good food / beer. read more

The service sucks, the person taking my order seemed annoyed, I ordered an individual pizza it was good but very small for the price, I also ordered buffalo wings and they were absolutely disgusting, they had a weird smell too. The beer is good and cold, safe to say I won't be back read more

Way to over priced! I do like the pizza but not for what I'm paying for plus. Delivery sometimes takes awhile. The only time it's be worth it. Is on Tuesdays for your half off pizza on sizes medium and greater. The catch is you must fine in out pick up. No take out. Other than that, there is ample parking and the pizza is okay. The only reason I get it because it reminds me of home. Otherwise, don't buy unless it's tuesday. read more

Decided to go there I live in the area never been in there Bad idea staff is nice but owners and management are rude got up to get more salad for my 8 month pregnant wife and was yelled and given attitude that I need to get a new plate and there is no sharing Either the manager assistant manager was in the main dinning room yelling and cussing because of the clipper the clipper game Please don't come here just go to chuck e cheese or shakeys at least it's cheaper more games for the kids and better customer service read more

They serve quality pizza here, but it's expensive. The best day to go is on Tuesday's when all pizza's are half off...

Holy mole this gluten free pizza is the best I've ever had. I tried both kinds and I'm so grateful you offer this.

The pizza was salty and expensive. The place was filthy. My chair was so dirty that I had to clean it before seating. We came here so the kids would have a good time, but next time we'll take them somewhere else. read more

Sadly this was probably one of the worst, if not the worst lunch I've ever had. The oranges on the salad bar were fermenting in their canister and made it into my mouth, I immediately spit them out ! I informed the lady and she APOLOGIZED! APOLOGIZED twice. If you serve rotten food, you don't apologize; you refund the money, or do something for the customer. An apology is not enough after paying $22.00 for 2 lunch specials which were definitely not made with "love", if you know what I mean. No quality, no flavor, no freshness. I apologize Straw Hat, but it is the truth. read more

pizza mediocre at best but i think thats a stretch considering there sauce is like ragu! salad bar was a laughing shame! barely any ICEBERG left in the dumb bowl there was more water in the salad serving bowl then lettuce and what few scraps of lettuce there was had brown edges. OBVIOUSLY NOT FRESH. carrot sticks were soft! hello since when are UNCOOKED carrots soft???? BARF! my friends ordered a salad bar as well and they only provide one fork, so my friend kindly asked for another and the dumb chick was all "its not to share your salad is it?" so, she said yes it is and the dumb girl said no sorry. chicks working registers were fucking assholes! good thing they had a container of plastic forks sitting right there! boxed wine, warm partially flat beer and the place smells of sour milk. maybe you try cleaning the piss stained carpets or something??? just a suggestion! my question, why is it hard to find a "kid friendly" pizza joint that actually has good food???????????????????????????????????? seriously! read more

I came in today very happy and satisfied with the service I got from Carly and Denise there were super nice couldn't decide what to get took a little more time they were super nice about it and than when I was ready to order pizza was great service was superb beer was super cold and glasses were too I live in bellflower and I'm going to come back here to this location based on the service I got from them thank you again looking forward on seeing them again read more

I have scheduled sports team meetings and parties here for the last few years. Just recently it has taken a dive in their customer service. I like to pre-order for team functions. They take pre-orders over the phone, but won't start the orders until you come in and pay. They will NOT let you pay over the phone to get your order started. Why would someone pay and then not show up? I can understand not putting an order in unless someone pays...but when someone is willing to pre-pay, it is obvious they are going to show up. My biggest gripe with this establishment is that I did my pre-order over the phone and I arrived 25 minutes before my team was scheduled to be there to pay and get the food started (so it would be ready when the team arrived). 30 minutes later, I checked on the food and it had not even been out in the oven! This happened on TWO different occasions. All the person behind the counter did was shrug her shoulders and say she would put it in the oven now. We will not be giving Straw Hat our business anymore! read more

quite possibly the worst pizza I've eaten since returning to the West Coast. Even worse than Danny's Pizaa in Bushwick Brooklyn (but it's an extra crime to serve bad pizza in NYC). Greasy, the tomato sauce is too acidic, the layer cohesion just ain't there. It was picked on a lark because they had both pizza and seating and wasn't as pricey as Portofino down the way. Bad move. It had been at least two decades maybe three since I'd been in a Straw Hat Pizza and now I aim to make it at least that far before I do so again. You've been warned read more

This place while not terrible is really not good. The pizza is lacking on cheese and sauce and there is an air bubble between the crust and the top layer of the pizza . The service was ok but the staff wasn't what I would call friendly. Also I'm not sure if they were short staffed but when I came in I wanted to sit in a booth but none of the tables had been cleared off by the time I left there were 6 tables that hadn't been bused yet. read more

I'm a big fan of their gluten-free pizza. Even though I must say it is expensive for the personal size pizza. Whatever it is what it is the pizza is five stars read more

Pizza is good, salad bar is the best! My daughter has a blast playing the pig shooting game. Good family place.

half off pizza tuesdays!! My boyfriend and I love their pizza. He likes the thin crust, and i like the pan crust. It has a small town kind of feel, always have sports on the TVs, which is nice on football days (or hockey days when theyre playing). read more

Great location. But the prices are high. A small 3-topping pizza is $13.00! Its like this pizza came from New YORK and flew 1st class! There are tons of pizza places in the area--so check around. Straw hat does have coupons available. SO use them. If not.. full price is not fun...Overall.. good pizza...good beer too. Just have some $$$$ before you come! read more
