Going back to update my review again. I was annoyed by the no mask thing with my last review (and still am) BUT I did order delivery from here again, and it reminded me why we love straw hat. Always on time delivery, without fail. Good pizza. And the person forgot our side of mushrooms (not a big deal) , but must have remembered and totally came back to our house with the mushrooms (we didn't even say anything or ask for them to come back). Do not get the personal pizza about 9 inches with 8 inches being crust. Hardly any cheese or toppings. Center of pizza was about the size of a tennis ball and that is where all the toppings were or actually were suspose to be, as far as the salad goes not bad but the dressing was completely watered down. $18.00 dollars for a personal pizza, 1 trip salad bar and a coke. It was my first time coming to this place and I was extremely disappointed. We got a king sized pizza and when we got home and opened the box there was a long hair coming out of the slice. We then called and asked if we can get it remade and the guy said yes,then owner then calls and claims she cannot find our order and they won't make the pizza until we go back. We drove back as soon as we walked up to the counter the lady started to verbally attack me and my partner saying nobody there has long hair, we showed her the video were you can clearly see the hair inside the pizza, she then points at me and says it's my hair. I never even got near the pizza and this hair was literally inside the cheese. We then look over to see the staff and none of them have hairnets on and then none of them wear gloves. As a food place you would think the owner would make this mandatory but nope they were touching toppings without anything while they delay with the POS system. The customer service was shit here and that lady should honestly get her attitude straight and food safety to be more efficient. I always prefer to support local businesses so we decided to have a late lunch after a function we had in the area. There was no one there when we arrived. The pizza is way overpriced but we were hungry and didn't have time to look around. We will not go back after our interaction with the owners. They were both rude and lack customer service & management skills. We overheard her telling her new employee that he was taking too long as he was trying to take a phone order. I'm sure the customer on the phone could hear her because she didn't try to lower her voice. We spent $100+ for 2 XL pizzas, 40 wings, garlic cheese twists and potato wedges. There were 7 of us seated at 2 tables. As we were eating the waiter came over and told us he accidentally gave us an extra order of potato wedges. He proceeded to take it away and so our friend asked him why would he do it - it's not like he was going to serve it to another guest. He apologized and said if it was up to him he would let us have it but he has to because his manager told him to. After our meal I approached the lady at the counter to ask for a to-go box for our left overs and asked if she was the manager, she replied she was the owner and so I let her know what happened and she said it was the waiter's fault and she was trying to teach her employee a lesson. I told her that was poor customer service to take teach her employees at her customers expense and if it was worth it to her to lose customers over a plate of potato wedges and she shrugged and said "Oh well!" I don't know how she continues to stay in business but hopefully you won't support her too. The pizza and wings were basic. I live in the neighborhood and really like to give my business to the local restaurants. When I wanted to take my granddaughter out for pizza (her favorite) for her 4th birthday last night, I thought about SH because you can sit down, has a family atmosphere, etc., rather than have pizza at home. The place needs updating. It feels "icky." I don't want to say it was dirty, but it just didn't feel clean. The staff were pretty much nonexistent and lackluster. We were the only people there. The pizza still is not good. I mean, one of the main ingredients in pizza is cheese, right? There was a sprinkling of cheese on the king pizza. I have ordered from this place twice and I'm completely done with them. The quality of the pizza is slightly below medium. Both times it was delivered luke warm, and the crust was tough. So in terms of food safety protocols this place crossed what we think is a major food violation. Produce was tossed out because of mold. Employee was told an hour later to get that produce back out from the trash, remove the mold and clean produce with soap and water and put it back out for consumption. Recently made a trip to this straw hat location and as a first time customer who now lives locally, I will never be returning! My spouse called in the order before hand which I planned on picking up on the way home. Arrived and ended up waiting 30 mins in line. I even went up to an employee and asked if I had to wait seeing that the order had already been called in. She replied yes. Once I finally made it to the counter I suggested to the cashier that they should really have a separate line for those that had called in. She replied "oh you should have come straight to the front." REALLY!!! No apologizes or anything! This will be my first and last time visiting this restaurant! Additionally, before I wrote this review, I noticed that the business owner responded to a previous yelper who also had a negative experience. This business owner really needs to learn professionalism and how to provide customer service. I have always been a fan of StrawHat pizza since I was a kid. My parents used to take us to the one in Malibu. It's been years since I ate Straw Hat pizza and recently discovered they're still around. I went to the Long Beach location and ordered a small "The Works"...just in case it didn't taste the same. WOW!!! It is still as good as I remembered, I was so happy and went to order a large to take home. A group of 17 of us went to this location on Friday March 16th. All of us got sick (flu symptoms) within 1-2 days. I do not believe it was the food. I believe it was a virus and lack of cleaning that allowed it to spread. The reason for the poor review isn't necessarily that we ar got sick as that can happen, it is due to the fact when my wife called them on Sunday to tell them our experience they couldn't have been any less interested. I do not have any knowledge on whether or not they have done a thorough disinfecting of the location but just be careful if you decide to go. The above review was from 6 months ago. The order arrived pretty quickly but once we got it we found the veggie did not have pineapple! Pizza was ready as they instructed, but impossible to actually pick up the pizza because they're too busy taking new orders. If they actually cared about customer service or simply the quality of the product they produce, they'd expedite order pick-ups. Oh, and the order was completely wrong. We celebrated my 8 year old's Birthday Party at this location. They have a fairly large & private party area & it's a wonderful place to throw an easy no-fuss gathering. My guests gave compliments about the food including the bread, chicken wings & pizza. The workers were very friendly & quite accommodating. We had a special activity for the children, but it was nice because they also have a small arcade area for additional "entertainment". We came here after a team competition because a friend referred us. I'm giving this a 4 star because I ordered the salad bar which was good but the salad looked a little old...they had great toppings and it still tasted pretty good! My husband ordered the bbq wings and he said they were really good! We shared a small pepperoni pizza which was very good! It came out hot so the cheese was still melted when I pulled myself out. This was our favorite pizza place but today the service was horrible. They were very rude when we walked up, we figured maybe they were having a bad day but the rudeness kept on going. The only female worker this evening (I can't remember her name) was the rudest. And the fourth check, performed with your counterfeit marker, showed that the bill was real. In fact I still have it, and would gladly show you how REAL it is. And I shouldn't have to ask for 20's at a bank, when I know that you accept 100s. Your business does not have a sign anywhere that states "NO Bills over 20". I have been coming here for over 20 years so I didn't think it was an issue to pay for a pizza with a $100. Money is money and you lost out on a weekly customer.
