Great people behind the counter. However we got a #2 and a #3. There was literally one slice of each meat and one slice of cheese. I know I should have taken a picture. The #2 was meatless and the amount of ingredients in the hoagie were almost non existent. Store looked very clean. But will not return for a hoagie. Almost forgot I did buy a small container of antipasto salad ($7.00). Was definitely better than the hoagies. Overall very disappointed with our lunch. read more

Very delicious classic Italian deli in the middle of PA! Bread is fresh with just the right amount of crunch. My co-worker and I got two sandwiches for lunch. They were very good! We got a meatball hero and a #14. We substituted the provolone for fresh mozzarella which was outstanding! I'm looking forward to coming back to Stravino's in the near future and having another one of their classic italian subs! Roast beef was mostly red, which I am not used to, as I eat meat cooked well done. Lettuce could have been fresher. Frozen tiramisu was pretty good. They don't allow customers to use rest rooms, which is unusual. They have delicious sweets to choose from. It's a nice, clean market and cafe. read more

A wonderful Italian grocery store with butcher counter and catering (sandwich platters, etc.). The food is DELICIOUS and if you're Italian or simply love great Italian food (beyond Chef Boy-r-dee), then you'll love Stravino's. The folks who own it are wonderful and they're proud of their Italian heritage (as they should be). They seem genuinely eager to suggest new products (not to sell more stuff) but because they want their customers to enjoy the experience of visiting the store. We went here to pick up sandwiches for Easter Saturday lunch, and left with bags of other DELICIOUS Italian treasures. You here and enjoy the experience. One of my favorite places to shop for Italian products. The food selection is amazing and they have hard to find items you won't find in the supermarket l. The service is great and very helpful. LOVE THIS PLACE!! Oh my gosh... We just had THE most DEEEEELICIOUS food ever!! We got a turkey hoagie and a Stravino's special and WOW!! They get fresh bread in and you can tell. Our bread was nice and fresh and the hoagie ingredients were all sooo delicious and fresh!! The roasted red pepper on the special was nice and thinly sliced, so so yummy! I'm always pleased with my order from Stravino's, which is usually the special since it's my favorite! The store is also very cute, I love the atmosphere of it. My little Italian nonna (grandmother) lived in this neighborhood. Every week she would walk to the cemetary to visit her husband's (my grandfather's) grave; he died very young. On the way home, she would always stop at Stravino's for all of the good stuff that we loved to eat when we visited her. My brothers and I were in town together and after visiting our grandparents' graves, we stopped here for lunch. We were pleased to learn that we wouldn't have to buy meats and cheeses and bread to assemble sandwiches on the trunks of our rental cars; Stavino's makes sandwiches on premises! They took really good care of the five of us. Great sandwiches, samples and some history. The cannolis are great too! We saw some pre-made, plastic-wrapped half sandwiches on the counter. "A" thought it was ingenious that these "submarine"-style sandwiches were sliced the length of the bread, not across...easier to eat! They told us that they will soon have a website through which many of their special products will be available. Hopefully they will put the URL on their Facebook page soon. read more

I've lived in the Lehigh Valley all my life and had never been to Stravinos. Someone mentioned that they had good hoagies so I decided to check it out. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. It started out lookin' pretty good on an Egypt Star bakery french stick, which are amazing by themselves. On the inside was 1 piece of ham, 1 piece of cappicola, 1 piece of provolone and 1 piece of salami, along with a greenish tomato slice and a whisper of shredded lettuce. The worst part was this spread they put on the bread which was kinda sweet and sour, I couldn't figure out what it was made of but it was pretty disgusting. read more

We have always enjoyed the food from here. We often pick up sandwiches on our way to work. They are a little pricey, but we don't mind paying for quality. Today we were a little disappointed. We ordered a dozen mini cannolis to share with some coworkers. The cannolis barely had any filling in them. Each had a small amount on the ends, but lacked filling in the middle leaving a hollow shell. Due to the fact that it is a local family business that has always provided quality products, we expect better. I'm hoping this was an unusual occurrence and that next time is better. read more

Stumbled upon Stravino's on my way somewhere else yesterday and decided to go back and try it today. It's half deli/half assorted Italian food stuffs which I guess could just as well be considered deli stuff. The point I'm trying to make is they do sandwiches, cold cuts, and pasta salads but also sell assorted snacks, olive oils, vinegars, and dry pastas. Hoagies were good but were light on meat. We tried the #3 (Italian) and the #16 (Diavolo). I liked the fire roasted spread on the #16 and I'm guessing it's probably healthier than the mayo I'd be using otherwise. Most are between $6-8. In my neverending search for slightly hard to find ingredients I've been looking for anise oil which I found here by accident. So, bonus points for having anise oil. Closed on Sunday, and the deli closes a half hour before the store Monday through Friday, 45 minutes before closing on Saturday. read more

As a trucker, I've been to a lot of sandwich places all over the country. I live in the area and work local now, wanting to have a sandwich before work. Stopped by to order a sandwich and honestly the CUTEST shop I've come across! Other than the sandwich being so great already, the atmosphere all around was fantastic as well. I strongly suggest everyone to stop by immediately so and to drop weak Subway and those other lame chains. For a fact, you won't be disappointed and you'll for sure be back soon enough. 5 star rating for me. I save it for places that exceed what I could imagine. Small place with a highly curated inventory. They have an amazing deli and the capicola was the best I've had. They also have very unusual Italian grocery items such as a line of high quality pate's w/ odd ingredient combinations like tuna and orange peel. It is the only place I've ever seen calabrian peppers. There is an olive bar where you can fill a container with olive oils from various regions of Italy. They have unique prepared ravioli with ingredients you will not find outside NYC. An amazing place with very reasonable prices! read more

I work on the south side of Allentown and about every 2 months I get an order together and when I ask my coworkers they say OMG yes to this place. I am giving a lower review because it seems that every time I have been here, the same woman waits on me..and I have never seen a smile...ever. I am so big on good customer service and this woman would serve this business far better if she would smile and act cordial. Great little Italian grocery and sandwich shop tucked away in Whitehall. Or at least I think it's Whitehall? They have a lot of unique imported cheeses and meats. Excellent stuffed peppers meaning the pepper shooter variety. What was really unique was the stuffed yellow banana pepper. While I no longer live in the area, several generations of my family have shopped at Stravino's since back when they first opened on Washington Street in Allentown across the street from my grandparents' home. This was also my aunt's go-to store for decades and my parents shopped there when we visited family. This is a nice little Deli/Market to go to if you're looking for some more authentic italian sauces and ingredients. They sell frozen meatballs that are fantastic. A lot of people rave bout their sandwiches. I tried one once and it tasted good and use really good bread but they are stingy with the meat. You can get some great mozzerela here as well. Living in Fort Wayne, IN , it is hard to find real authentic Italian food. I am sure to visit Stravino's every time I am back in the Lehigh Valley.
