I love this Trader Joe's and wish that I lived closer. Whenever I visit, I never have a problem finding a parking spot and getting in and out of the parking lot. The staff at the registers are always pleasant and working efficiently. The selection is fresh and vast. The flowers are always beautiful and welcoming as soon as you walk in and the cheese selection is borderline overwhelming. I never have a problem leaving with a full basket of unique finds. The store feels small when it's crowded and sometimes it's difficult to navigate around the crowd, but the aisles are wide. read more

Going to Trader Joe's is usually the same experience, no matter which location you visit. The attendees are always hyper nice, the food is unique and reasonably priced, and you walk away feeling like it was a good experience. You can try something from their sample station such as a small drink or a bite of a new product they're featuring. I went to Trader Joe's to pick up some blue hydrangeas for a baby shower. Not only were they absolutely beautiful, they were a great price! 3 stems for $5.99!!! I ended up getting 12 because they were SO perfect. As I looked at hydrangeas, I noticed that all of their fresh flowers were beautiful and reasonably priced. When I checked out, they even gave me a bucket with some water to get them home. I will certainly think of Trader Joe's when I need or want beautiful flowers. read more

I came here primarily in search for nutritional yeast but ended up with a whole lot more! First of all it is nearly impossible to get parked here. Trader Joe's sits on the edge of a very small strip mall and directly across from it is Chick Fil-A. Believe me I parked anywhere I could to get a spot. Inside the produce was fresh and their Joe's Os are quite a bargain compared to Cheerios!! Even a dozen eggs were a bit more reasonably priced than what you would find at a typical grocery store. It was easy for me to spot my nutritional yeast and I was able to secure two bags of it for my cooking needs. When you enter you see fresh plants and flowers along with produce for sale. They had a good selection to choose from. Each section is clearly marked and there are signs indicating gluten free items. They have quite a lot of frozen delicacy's I never heard of before but I decided to try the "Everything but the bagel" mini crackers, salmon burgers, cous cous, white quinoa, and anything that looked like a bargain. They have plenty of vegetarian and vegan items to choose from. I saw the non dairy oat creamer with brown sugar was a hot item so I helped myself to that. I found a bargain with salmon burgers and was glancing at mahi mahi burgers along with shrimp burgers. They do have quite an assortment here. There are plenty of check out lines and you can either bag your items or they will bag them for you. I was very pleased with my visit since you can find good food at reasonable prices. It's taken me a long time to actively remember that oh yeah, shopping at Trader Joe's is an option for me. It's not the dominant grocery chain in Pittsburgh by a long shot; it certainly wasn't the go-to when I shopped with my family; plus it's probably not in the top 10 list of grocery stores that are closest to me. That said, I'm starting to remember to visit periodically to see what I can buy to shake things up in my kitchen. Be aware that this Trader Joe's location isn't a particularly large grocery store space-wise; it utilizes the space pretty well though. People do tend to cluster together in certain spots, but I've always been able to navigate around them relatively easily. Granted, it probably helps that I'm not here trying to browse and examine every shelf and section of the store. When I shop here, I don't expect to pick up all of my essentials. Instead, I look for the specialties and seasonal goodies that will supplement my visits to Aldi. Some of their proteins and baked goods are also must-haves in my book. Plus, there are some pretty decent frozen meal options here that I like to grab for those busy days when meal prep is impossible. All in all, I'm happy that I'm finally remembering to shop at Trader Joe's from time to time. While I know I won't get all of my groceries during a Trader Joe's run, I look forward to visiting and finding something different and delicious to add to the basic purchases I make elsewhere. read more

Trader Joe's are always fun to go into and question your life choices. Always looking around and thinking that you have been making all the wrong food selections. I miss being close to one of these as I would always make this my first stop in grocery shopping. My visit here was my sister's first visit. She was totally impressed by what she saw and gladly picked up a few items. I liked this location as it felt more like a grocery store than an attraction to visit. You know what I mean, they go into a location that looks like it was an old staple in the community. The selection is what I remember it to be when I would visit weekly. I ended up grabbing a few items that I knew were good to use. I made sure to grab some agave nectar and snacks. Checking out was a breeze and we were out the door. The hardest part about this is the location itself. Getting in and out of the lot is a pain, and the road it sits on is unreasonably busy all the time. read more

I dont know, I do enjoy a lot of their items and their staff is super nice and helpful, although I did get somebody today that was having a bad day. But no matter when I come here, the parking lot is a disaster-inside its wall to wall people who seem to be in a daze or selfishly so unaware there are others in the store, they just can't seem to move their wagon out of the way. We all know those people. I had to laugh at the non-diverse clientele as stated by an above poster-i would said its quite diverse and colorful shall we say. I still love Trader Joe's! The variety of and convenience of many of the items makes it easy to prep delicious, fast and healthy meals. Due to Covid they have a limit to the number of people that can be in the store at one time so you might have to wait in line that is clearly marked 6 ft feet away from each other. Honestly the line moves very quickly and you'll be in and out quickly. I love walking through and finding new items to try. It's very diverse so you can try Korean, Thai, Chinese, Indian any kind of food you can think of. Also, they have beautiful plants and flowers for a nice price as well as funny greeting cards for only $1 too! It's not a huge store either so you can get around easily and quickly- check it out - you'll love it! read more

As many reviews mention, the parking is not ideal. This TJ's is located smack dab off of Rt. 19 so traffic is always heavy, and of course there are other businesses in the same plaza which is always a cluster trying to get in/out of parking space. The grocery store itself is lovely. Not only are the employees SUPER friendly, but they make sure that the space is kept clean and clear of clutter. The flowers are always top notch, and the produce is extremely fresh. As always, I love that they have their own brand - and I rave about everything ranging from their cauliflower pizza crust to their body moisturizer! read more

I've lived in many places in the U.S. in the past 65 years and I always search out a Trader Joe's. Service is superb--friendly and helpful. The store offers fine produce and many items not available elsewhere. Lately I've complained they have overdone their stock of sugary items and snack s such as chips, popcorn, etc. Also they've removed a number of favorites. I am writing to specifically compliment Laura. My mom visited me in California and fell in love with the unexpected cheddar cheese spread. Unfortunately, she lives in Johnstown, PA. It's about an hour and a half to her closest Trader Joe's. She just got done visiting my sister and her two grand babies in Nevada, and flew home. She called me to say she was interested in finding a Trader Joe's to buy the cheese spread. I called this store and Laura answered. She told me that they do carry the items, went to check, and then when she heard my mom was coming, she set some aside from her and helped when my mom arrived. My mom left me a voice mail... Here is what she said: "Okay Junie that Laura was delightful. And um I bought 60 something dollars worth of stuff there. And I feel that if I live near Trader joe's, I could probably become a better version of myself anyway. I love you. Bye bye." This made my heart melt. I've always had a special spot for Trader Joe's, but this was definitely above and beyond. It's hard to live so far away, and helping to facilitate her getting good food felt so good. I used to absolutely love Trader Joe's, but they have become notorious for discontinuing much loved foods. Their prices have also risen considerably to the point where it's not a deal to go there and you might as well go to Giant Eagle or Siegert else if you want a bigger selection. Parking and access to the store is terrible. The lines get really long because the store is small and if you go too late they often have run out of a lot of food. While I still like the store, there are growing frustrations that lead me to seek other places to shop more often than not. I am also sick of how heavy they make the bags. I'm disabled and can't lift heavy things. They pack the grocery bags so full the handles practically break or do break. I used to not mind bagging, but now that I'm disabled, I don't have the energy to. I feel guilt tripped into doing it though because that's the TJ thing. read more

The service at Trader Joe's is phenomenal. We had the nicest cashier, Todd. He was pleasant and made conversation with us about our groceries and other products to try but not in an annoying way. He also payed attention to the quality of our products. The cauliflower in our cart happened to be moldy and he caught that which was very impressive. He rang the bell at his station and the manager quickly came over to help get us different ones. She ended up needing to go to the back for a fresh box and replaced both of our bags of cauliflower along with the ones on the shelf. There was also a loose orzo pasta in our cart and he made sure our bag was intact. It's refreshing to experience employees who are working (given the amount of open jobs out there) and doing a great job in their role. Everyone needs more Todd's! Great job, Trader Joe's! read more

In Pittsburgh there are only a few Trader Joe's stores, and the one I frequent most is this one in Mt. Lebanon. When you walk into this store, you immediately see lots of plants and flowers. Next you see the fruits and veggies, and you'll be well on your way to produce heaven. Where I live is extremely close to a Giant Eagle, but I'll go out of my way to go to Trader Joe's. It's most comparable to a more upscale Aldi's in my opinion. One of the best parts is that it doesn't break the bank. They have a lot of products that are their brand, including soaps, cereals, coffees and teas, granola bars, etc. Trader Joe's is one of my favorite grocery stores, if you can imagine having a favorite! Not saying I'm the healthiest eater all the time, but I really do try to be conscious of what I'm eating. The array of unique healthy foods definitely helps my cause. When my boyfriend and I go shopping, these are some of our favorite Trader Joe's items that are always on our list: Vanilla almond granola cereal Brownie & oat bars Lavender or green tea soap Frozen asparagus risotto $2 frozen pasta entrees Mac & cheese bites Avocados (they're always perfect here!) Tri-color quinoa Organic hummus Cowboy Caviar bean & corn salsa The employees are always friendly and helpful, and they put up with my silly questions and bagging preferences with a smile. I would like to point this directly to Connolly as she made our day with gifting us the jalapeño limeade which we wanted to try, but we weren't going to get. I have been shopping at Trader Joe's for as long as I can remember-- and for a reason! Everything I get there is so good that I always want to come back for more. I am especially a fan of the Organic Buffalo Style Hummus (so good!). However, the prices can occasionally take a bit of a toll on my bank account, but often times it is worth it for Trader Joe's unique twist on every type of food, as everything is their own brand. I must deduct one star, for the sizes of their products seem to be getting smaller and smaller. While I used to love Trader Joe's crispy broccoli, one bag no longer fills even a ramecan, and it is just not worth it anymore. This place is truly awesome. Unfortunately - I went for my first time on 1/12/18 (Friday) the day before "Snowpocalypse". This is where I will go to get more unusual items at a really good price. Items of note that I saw that will be on my list: 1. Cauliflower Pizza Crusts (yes - just the crusts). If you want a low carb / healthy way to eat pizza.. go for it). 2. Meatless stuff... I am a full-on carnivore (please don't judge me) but have been looking at eating less meat without sacrificing my protein. I am generally anti-soy due to silly theories out there. You can get a wide variety of meatless / protein filled products here without breaking the bank. 3. Unique / crazy things you would not normally try (i.e. Franken-food). Every now and then I want to try something crazy. Example - Cookie Butter, Goddess Dressing, Triple Ginger Snaps, Diner Mac and Cheese, etc... I wish I had more time to check out the store. Rating - please note the comments below sound bad (for a high rating) but I really liked the food quality and price. All the others points below were small on my annoyance list because I live in the area and use to no-parking and inconvenience). 1. Convenience - Inconvenient (or it could have been the day). I will try again. Tip - Enter in off of Rt 19, exit thru the back so you can come out at a light. 2. Parking - parking was terrible. I believe all of South Hills was at this one location during my visit. Again see tip on point 1. 3. Selection - Good vegetable / dry good selection but terrible concerning meat. You will need to probably shop for meat at another store (Whole Foods / Fresh Market are very close) - my preference would be Fresh Market. 4. Price - WIN! I bought 7 items (eggs, handmade vege burritos, quinoa vegetable patties, etc...) My bill was $11. Of course, I bought my meat at a different location and my bill was much, much larger :-). Recently my husband and I shopped at the Trader Joe's on Washington Road, Pittsburgh, looking for plants to be used as centerpieces for a party. The clerk, upon learning that the occasion for our party was the celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary, said, "Wait right here. Don't go anywhere." Knowing that all of the workers we ever encounter at Trader Joe's are always friendly and helpful, this didn't come as a complete surprise. I thought that maybe they were going to come over and sing to us (like when waiters gather to sing birthday greetings at a restaurant). The complete surprise came when instead, this lovely clerk brought us two beautiful bouquets of flowers, to express admiration and best wishes for our special occasion. We have always enjoyed any shopping experience at Trader Joe's, as the products we find there are very pleasing, but equally we enjoy the pleasant ambience created by the friendly employees. I don't shop as often as I should at Trader Joe's. Went there today and was pleasantly surprised with the friendliness of the staff. The employees out on the floor were friendly and helpful. I needed help finding an item my son requested that I buy. I found the item with the help of their staff. Checking out was a breeze and also very pleasant. The cashier's name on my receipt was Sriracha Sauce, oops, that's not it, it was Susanna H. Susanna was genuinely friendly and efficient in checking me out. Finally, Pittsburgh gets the Trader Joe's that it sorely needed. This store is much larger than the East Liberty store with the same amount of products. I'll weigh the pros and cons of the new Bethel Park location. Pro - much larger store, wider isles, same amount of products. I asked one of the associates I recognized from East Liberty and she said that both stores carried the same items. I was here an hour after it opened, it was a zoo, every old lady wanted her free Trader Joe's reusable bag that they were giving away that day. I'm sure once the newness wears off it will become less congested. (Update, a month and a half after opening, this store is still highly congested. I did come one night at 8pm and had no trouble parking, and didn't have to navigate through congested isles) Pro - Traffic moves well on the road TJ's in located on, much like the Penn Ave store This leads me to the first con, the parking lot is a nightmare! There are other shops using the Iot besides TJ's, so it gets a little confusing especially with lunch crowds wanting to hit up chicken place next door. Another con, with the extra large store, I was a bit underwhelmed that they didn't have more vegan items, although I saw a few fat free cheeses that I allow myself. One item at TJ's that I have to send props to is the Spanish Extra Virgin olive oil. It's 5.99 for a giant bottle, in Giant Eagle that bottle would be 12 bucks! The Spanish olive oil is full bodied with a dark green color, and a slight peppery finish. I love to use this oil with whole wheat pastas, this oil compliments the nutty taste of the pasta. Add some olives, pignoli nuts, and a good earthy mushroom and you have a meal you'd pay 17 bucks for in a restaurant. This store is in a more conservative part of town, no hippy, college, crowd. This is the true South Hills crowd. Which doesn't really mean much to the shopping experience, it's just the vibe you get inside the store. If I had a choice I think I'd still go to the East Liberty store, I just wish the South Hills store was in East Liberty. Maybe the third Trader Joes will be the perfect store. read more

Very friendly grocery store with staff that are well informed about their products. The people who work here are super proud of their culture and that is the best part about going here as a customer. You always feel welcome and always have your questions answered. They literally treat you like family and I have had multiple good conversations with what I would even venture to call "my friends" at Trader Joes. I am also always excited about the free samples that are almost always offered and to see what new interesting products they have in stock. The prices are pretty reasonable too, especially considering how many of the products are specialty products that you can't find anywhere else. Some of my favorite "Trader Joe's" products include: their key lime pie, their pesto frozen pizza, their southwest quinoa burgers, their cauliflower rice, their specialty salads, and the frozen orange chicken - as well as many others! read more

I really like Trader Joe's for a number of reasons. It's clean, has a helpful and friendly staff and has an array of great specialty items. If you're looking for black bean pasta or fresh cauliflower rice, they've got you. We all know the addiction of cookie butter and the sweet treat aisle. The only thing I think they're missing is more of a basic selection. When I go to TJ's, I know it's not going to be my only grocery store stop. I'll need to head somewhere else for some basic items. It's not a big deal, but it would be nice if they were slightly bigger and had more selection. I honestly think if that were the case, I'd absolutely love it here. Especially considering it's half the cost of a lot of the regular grocery stores. I love checking out Trader Joe's in the locations I travel to within the US - each store really tries hard to be local, while hawking the same homogeneous goods. This TJ's was located a good 25mins away from the hotel I was staying at and I gotta tell you, the route we were provided by google maps to get here took us thru some really curvy mountainous roads and frankly I was super glad I wasn't driving here in the winter time! The TJ's location had good parking and everything is laid out pretty much like the other stores. I got my pound bar of Belgium chocolate and my guilty pleasure Olive oil crisps and so was in & out in 15 mins as it was nearly closing time and there were no lines at the register. Just can't say enough about this Trader Joe's. Great food from typical items you need to a lot of unique flavors to open up your pallet and minds, to the world's food. Everything is a great price compared to your typical groceries. The store is very clean, you can tell they rotate the produce. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable, not just some lazy high school kids or old grump folks. Sadly due to silly Pennsylvania politics TJ's in PA don't sell their great tasting, cheap wine or beer. This store now offers a sensory time on Tuesdays from 11-1 where they play classical music and dim the lights for a more sensory friendly shopping time. I am very loyal to the Trader Joe's in East Liberty, however this location has wider isles and more parking. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I like the free samples. There are hundreds of products that are unique to Trader Joe's and it's fun to talk to other Trader Joe's fans about what products I enjoy the most. In particular, I buy a lot of yogurt, cereal, and frozen foods. I also like their breads, OJ, trail mix, nuts, and flowers. The prices beat Whole Foods and also Giant Eagle. AmaZing experience during COVID. Staff was masked, kept everyone spaced in line, controlled traffic so only one person could pass through the door in or out at a time. Constant cleaning! I also have had them shop for me which has been a life saver as a compromised person. Where do I begin!? My relationship with Trader Joe's has seriously blossomed over the past few months. I'll start with my most recent trip this past weekend which was amazing! Me and my girlfriend usually grocery shop together. Just because we like to meal plan together and usually spilt the cost as well. We have a local Giant Eagle that's very convenient or we'll travel about 10 minutes down the road to Aldi. Then, if our funds are looking right l, we'll travel a bit further out to near by TJs! We like to plan our trips here just because of how expensive it can be at times as well as getting to a nearby TJ which are usually a 20 minute drive at least. But it is so worth when we come here! Having been shopping at TJs fairly often the past year, I have fallen in love with just about everything I've bough and eaten from TJs. This time they were allowing us to sample their pumpkin ravioli and pumpkin pasta sauce. Now I know that people are usually one way or the other with pumpkin flavors. Either you despise all pumpkin flavors during the fall season, or you love the fall season and all the pumpkin(y) things! I am the latter. So I tried the the pumpkin ravioli and I thought it was awesome! TJs is wonderful with what they do always allowing customers to sample new products, this one was a hit in my book! So we ended up picking up some of the pasta sauce to go with on of our meal plans this week. All in all, TJs is the a great spot! Like I mentioned, me and my girlfriend are able to plan our trips there only because regular grocery shopping can be pricey. But if you plan out your trips and budget how much you can spend, you will win in the long run. Most foods at TJs are delicious and you will find yourself wanting to visit often as long as funds permit. I give myself a $100 limit, always go over it but you'll be glad you did at Trader Joe's! The people are so friendly and helpful at this store. I drive across town to shop here once a month. On my last visit I was leaving the store and an employee walking in from his break noticed I had a flat tire. He offered to help me. So Dylan and Nick put my spare tire on my car and took my groceries to the cooler while my son and I waited. I was so grateful for them that I went back in the store to tell the manager how wonderful their employees are and I was able to get cash back to show my appreciation.
