Gluten free happy birthday cake on short notice
    Matthew C.

Just had an awesome experience with Jackson today n the bakery. At the last minute we needed a gluten free birthday cake. He was super friendly and helpful. He walked me to where they had a couple options. He then partnered with his team to get them personalized in minutes. This store and team were great.

They carry Burton Farm milk! For a $2 bottle deposit, take home the returnable glass jug. Returnable at customer service when open

Nice layout, clean but the service is quite slow. We were visiting from out of state and needed to stock up on bottled water. This is all we took to the self checkout. We did not have a customer card so we tried to get the attention of a cashier supervisor. Once we finally did find her, she scanned her card and walked away with a huff leaving the second out of state customer in our group even though we did ask her to please scan the card for her purchase, too. The customer went to the express instead of waiting for the supervisor to return and was helped much more cheerily and promptly. We all bought lottery tickets at a convenience store rather than wait in a 7 person pile up at the customer services counter.

It's an older Giant bird I'm spoiled by the new market districts. The salad bar looked good but o decided to get the hot deli meal. I like there fried chicken but it looked really dry. I had the rib meal and it was really good. 3 ribs,Mac an cheese, corn bread and a drink for $6.99. The produce and bakery items looked really good.

I'd be afraid to cut into these for fear of what was inside.

Nice deli, a bakery (which is actually an inexpensive spot to get stuff like Danish) and all the aisles for getting in your steps on a crappy Winter (or hot Summer) day. Really I like Giant Eagle, I just avoid the fruit & veg (expensive) and bread (Schwebels Italiano for $4.75!?!) aisles. Not even worth walking down them. Just stick with sale items, items you get cheap because of the Giant Eagle card, and the meat dept. but only for sale and items getting marked down because the sell by date is getting close. The employees are always friendly, and helpful. The store is well stocked, except for Asian food items which is pretty crappy. Two kinds of soy sauce? Seriously? Overall, this Giant Eagle gets four of five stars. Oh, and a s###-ton of different brands and flavors of ice cream. I do like that.

But somehow, I got charged for 10 cents more. I swore I hit I got my own bag. Oh well. Time was running out. I could care less about that dime.

We ordered matzo ball soup, corned beef, knishes, and latkes--everything was fresh, comforting, and absolutely delicious. We also spoke with the owner, and it's clear he genuinely cares and knows his stuff. Being from NY and Philly, we know a good deli--and this one delivers. If you're in the Pittsburgh area, I highly recommend Squirrel Hill Market.

When I go to your business' instagram page and find a parade of postings of pinup girls with pastrami sandwiches crudely shopped in - you have my curiosity. When I show up and discover a charming, thoughtful person cooking up the best pastrami on rye I've had in over a decade? You have my heart. This is as a straightforward as it gets: a pound of deliciously aged, brined, and smoked pastrami on toasted (or not) bread. Accoutrements are minimal: mustard, swiss cheese, coleslaw, sauerkraut. I went with only mustard, and the flavor of the meat still carried the sandwich to elite flavor. There's also corned beef, hot dogs, latkes, and knishes (my fwb got two and said they were delicious). I'll be back to try it all. So far I've had 5 pastrami sandwiches and each has been praiseworthy. Truly pinup worthy.

I also appreciate the fair return policy, if something is wrong they refund your money and also you can replace the item. They don't give you any grief if you need to return something like Giant Eagle. They have certainly expanded their selection and the quality has always been good. The only issue is that the items come and go just like Trader Joe's. I love the hummus chips that pop up every once in a while, but then they go away quickly. I have always loved the fact that they never use plastic bags, which is very sustainable. It is very good to have them in the neighborhood. Please note: if you park out in the front you will not be able to transport your groceries in a cart out to your car. The store is wired so that the cart gets locked up if you try to leave out of the front door. This can suck if the back parking lot is full.

The selection of products is smaller than what many other grocery stores offer, and the prices are low to moderate. My husband and I shopped at this ALDI in the South Side one time. My husband commented that the chicken cost less than the chicken at other grocery stores. We purchased several snack foods and beverages for a stay in a nearby hotel. The cashier performed their job well. We did not have to wait in line for long, and the transaction had no errors.
