Fresh Thyme is a regional supermarket chain that has similar departments as do other grocery stores: fruits, vegetables, meats, seafoods, baked goods, frozen foods, boxed and canned foods, dairy and eggs, some household products, and some personal-care products. The overall selection of foods is slightly smaller than what other grocery stores have, but their selection of organic items is slightly larger. Fresh Thyme is not our favorite grocery store, but we sometimes like to pop in here to see the different foods. My husband wanted to visit this particular Fresh Thyme in Bridgeville just to do a small amount of shopping. We selected three meats and one fruit. We experienced no problems with the checkout process. The prices were average. read more

Disclaimer, I'm not a regular shopper at Fresh Thyme Market - not because the store is bad per se, but because it's pricey. Fresh Thyme is an organic food supermarket chain, so I'll stop in occasionally to see what's new and/or to treat myself to some "fancy" groceries. Because of the cost of their items though, I'll shop here for supplemental goodies after getting my main haul elsewhere. (For me, Aldi and Trader Joe's are stops #1 and #2. Places like this, Giant Eagle, and The Fresh Market are where I go "just because" or when I want to splurge on groceries.) When I do stop in I always explore the baked goods and frozen foods - usually there are items and brands in these sections that aren't at other stores. (A lot of items are gluten free, too, which I know makes a difference to a lot of people.) I generally skip the produce and deli sections; the selections in both are decent but I can find these things elsewhere for less. And here's something I've never had to say about a grocery store before: I ALWAYS walk right past their supplements section, which is (in my opinion) unnecessarily large. I could talk at length about my problems with how supplements are (not) managed in America, so before I bog down my own review we'll move right along! Final thoughts: their selection is fine, and in theory it's great that they sell a variety of "healthy" things. In practice though, the food products are overpriced, and there are enough vitamins and supplements on sale that I almost question whether or not this should be classified as a grocery store. While I'll pop in and out of here occasionally, I'll never be a regular shopper. read more

I really enjoy finding the lesser known brands and high-quality products here at Fresh Thyme. The shopping experience in this smaller store is really nice, too. My main complaint is that some products are really overly priced (would find the same things elsewhere for half the cost), and every time I've been here, items have been rung up at the wrong price. Stopped.. because we were out and about and I remembered I needed cilantro for the dish I was making for dinner. This grocery store reminds me a lot of whole foods. Prices are higher than average but so fun to browse! I loved the selection of specialty bean coffee!! They had everything but unfortunately both grinders in that aisle were temporarily out of order? I picked up some interesting chocolate energy bites at the check out which were real good. It was fun to visit and browse but too expensive for me to do my every day shopping. read more

We attended a first-time event last evening (Food Allergies /Myths & Facts), and it was very informative, plus they gave out lots of free, delicious samples (see photos). How did I not know about this place before?? I go to Carnegie and Bridgeville quite often and have passed Fresh Thyme dozens of times but never went in. When I asked for recommendations on where I could get cold-pressed juice, Fresh Thyme was recommended, so I hopped in my car and went. I had a misconception that this place was expensive, but that's not the case. Everything was reasonably-priced and a lot of things were on sale. I ended up getting six different kinds of juices just because they had so much variety! I will definitely be considering this store as part of my weekly grocery trip. read more

As a former resident of this neighborhood I'm salty that they're getting decent places since I've been back in the city for 8 years. I still get back this way now and again and I've been here twice. It's not a huge place but they've got a lot of more things than it seems. Picked up some stuff for lunch on the way to a friend's house nearby. Not a place I'd go to normally since it's not worth the trek and I live walking distance to two Aldi locations, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and even East End Food Co-Op. Anyway, they carry a lot of the same brands and products that I get at the stores I've mentioned. I think it's a great addition to the area and if I still lived out here I'd definitely be a regular. read more

We had a good experience here. We were in the area and needed to stop in for a few things. I appreciate that they have a self serve bulk section still, and they had the popcorn kernels I was looking for. They don't have little baggies though they only have containers. The employee at checkout was so friendly, and the checkout experience was efficient. I appreciate that they have touchless pay. read more

I was only in here once. It was to get a particular supplement that helps my arthritis. It was the correct item, but, it did not deliver the results I was used to. I think it had lost it's potency. I paid about $50 for it so I was disappointed. read more

I really wanted to enjoy my experience here but was deeply disappointed in what I saw. I will credit them for a great and helpful staff. The thrust is on organic and healthy which is why they serve Boar's head deli. I have Boar's head before and can attest to the fact that it is very good. Everything is laid out pretty much grocery style. Where they have fresh bread, you can sample some of it and then choose a loaf. A bread slicing machine is there for your convenience. I glanced at some of their fresh vegetables and fruit and really only found some on sale to be at least a bargain for me. I was in search of vegan products and was told that what they had was interspersed among their regular items. Some of the brands I saw as I combed the aisles are the same if not similar to what you would find at Whole Foods. Expect to pay premium prices for meats and cheeses because you are buying organic. I did like how they had everything clearly marked if you are gluten free. It is your traditional higher end grocery store but what I clearly found lacking was a bakery. I was directed to a corner where they had baked goods some of which weren't even marked for what they were let alone the price. I inquired about a bakery. They don't have one set up here. Again an employee pointed out one danish which he would consider vegan but nothing is clearly marked. They don't make cakes here. I also stopped at the juice bar to inquire about healthy juices. The juice bar accepts cards only. When I asked about vegan juices they seemed to have no idea what I was talking about. Still they have a new blend of juices and smoothies to try. This store has great potential but when I cross compare with Whole Foods and the Market District I have a much better selection and the fruits and vegetables are much nicer. One of the reasons why I sometimes go to these higher end stores is because they have a bakeshop where I can order a cake or whatever if the need arises. They have an app with a coupons program on it which I saw throughout the store. There are plenty of buggies and carts as well as aisle space. However, giving this location it is only about a 10-15 minute drive over to South Hills Village area where I could easily shop at Whole Foods or the Market District. I am giving latitude because this is the official opening day and I did manage to make off with some bargains. If however, you are looking for something unique and different here then you probably won't find much in that regard. Really nice market located right next to the la fitness. A few years back, this used to be a bottom dollar grocery store. I like this store because it's very convenient to run in after the gym to grab a couple things. The offer a fresh bar to make salads and also have several pre-made options for dinner that you just have to poop in the oven. The employees are kind and they have great specials. If you're someone who loved organic produce, you till love Fresh Thyme. They also have a lot of produce that is difficult to find at other markets. Recently, I purchased organic fresh beets & they were delicious! I usually can only find beets at farmer markets in the summer. You may not be able to do you entire grocery shopping here, but they have most and the prices aren't too bad. I spoke recommend Fresh Thyme! Great addition to this plaza. read more

My daughter ordered groceries for pickup on Thursday, June 13, 2024, because she is pregnant. The employee put the groceries in her husbands trunk. After getting home, it clearly said on the bags...... 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 4, and then of course, bag 4 of 4 was missing. When they called, the manager never offered to do anything. He just assumed that they would drive another 22 minutes back to the store to get the missing bag. My daughter is 7 months pregnant! That is why she ordered the groceries in the first place. My daughter's husband had to ask the manager what he was going to do, and even then, he gave them a lousy $10 gift card. At least Giant Eagle gives customers a $25, when they screw up. What the manager should have done was offer to have the idiot who screwed up drop the missing grocery bag off at their house. When one of your employees screws up, you admit it, and then you compensate them with more than a $10 gift card. You just lost a really good customer! My daughter shops there all the time. Sort of a cross between Whole Paycheck, Fresh Market, Market District, Trader Joe's & Aldi. It's pricey, the specials are good and if you stick to the specials you can get some decent groceries for your hard earned cash. Nice meat and poultry selection, small but well thought out in bringing the biggest bang using as little space as possible. Nice bakery and fresh produce, again stick to the sale items and specials and you'll be fine if you're on a budget. This store concentrates on organics and fresh but not necessarily healthy, read the labels. Fun new places to explore make Yelp fun. read more

I was really excited for this store to open up and I would have to say that overall I like it. Will this be my weekly grocery trip store?....no. This store is full of organic inventory which I know can be hard to find in some stores. If you are a die hard organic consumer then this store will be like heaven to you. They have a wonderful array of organic brands and options to choose from. The downside is that there is a good chance you won't be able to find some of the usual non organic items on your list. Another thing I liked was the salad bar and prepared foods, this would be a great place to stop to pick up a quick dinner. Lastly, love them or hate them they have children's carts. I make the 15 minute drive to this store for the homemade sausage alone. It's at the meat counter and they have a ton of varieties to choose from, including multiple chicken sausage flavors and bulk breakfast sausage. The bulk sausage is perfect for sausage gravy or to make into patties. They have weekly sales that are worth checking out. The employees have all been friendly and helpful on all visits. They have a large variety of bulk candies and snacks in bins by weight and also a health and beauty section. I love this store! read more

I am a fan of Fresh Thyme Farmers Market. This is neither a value or the most expensive place. I feel the trick is that you need to go there for the specials and items that are hard to find (organic, specialty flours, etc...). Proteins that are on sale are a good deal and comparable to Aldis / Walmart who are consistently much cheaper than Giant Eagle. The store is not huge and will never be confused with a traditional grocery store (Walmart / Giant Eagle). They are a good for specialty items. I finally had the chance to stop in to this new store to check it out! They have a weekly ad so you can plan your trip, but we didn't need anything so we just wanted to look around for a bit. It is a large shopping plaza with a ton of parking. They also cater to the kids - they have mini shopping carts for them to use, as well as paper and crayons, and a free piece of fruit at the front entrance! Super nice touch! I would compare this to a Trader Joe's but larger with more selection - they have a ton of items that you've never seen in our area. You know when you're watching a cooking show and they use an item that you're like 'I will never find that at Giant Eagle'? Well, more than likely you'll likely find it here! In addition to core items of the store, they have a nice large soup and salad bar, an olive bar, a large bakery selection, and a mochi bar. We got a few mochi treats to enjoy on the way home, and they were very good! Their fresh meats section was OUTSTANDING. The items looked completely 100% fresh and they were butchered beautifully. A variety of steaks, fish, shrimp, pork, marinated chicken and other meats, and ground beef were the selection when I went. Some stuff was on the pricier side, but honestly the quality looked unbeatable! But my favorite part of this store - the spices section. They have jars of hard-to-find and/or expensive spices, and there's plastic bags, a scale, and a scoop. You can scoop what you need from the jar for say a particular recipe, which is super cool to me! I found some arrowroot powder which I got a scoop of to thicken up a gravy or sauce. It is such a good idea to give people that option to just grab one bay leaf or a tablespoon of mustard seeds- it is a special touch that I very much appreciated. I could see myself visiting this store to buy things for a special occasion or cool new recipe I want to try, or a great deal on a few items from the weekly ad. I don't think I have the funds to shop here exclusively, but I plan on coming back when I'm in the area again! read more

Buyer beware that some bread and buns are previously frozen. This is bread that is not in the frozen food section of the store. I bought some of these rolls. They quickly got mold on them once I got them home. When I brought them back I noticed that some of the bread was still cold. I believe a store with Fresh in its name should have fresh bread or at the very least make the customer aware of this practice. Most customers would not agree with this practice. read more

Great first experience at the Bridgeville location. Fruit I purchased was very fresh and excellently priced. Lots of choices for non-dairy milks including my favorite brand of oat milk, which is a hit-or-miss stock item at WF. Freshly squeezed juices are also very well priced compared to other grocery stores and juice bars. I consider this store to be a cross between Trader Joes and Whole Foods--Trader Joe values and Whole Food product names. The size of the store is great if you are not a fan of the mega size grocers. Nice detail about Fresh Thyme, they are a US owned grocer and I've been to their Indiana stores when in the midwest. Glad to see them locally and hoping that they succeed out here. read more

Ive always liked this store,and the variety of items I cant get elsewhere..Im complaining about their business policy during Covid. Most responsible stores have signs up stating the mask mandate for entering stores.Fresh Thyme allows customers in there without masks and wont enforce the policy during the pandemic. Finally found boars head deli meat. They have fresh produce and high quality meats. It won't replace the need for Giant Eagle but for items that you want a bit healthier or higher quality this is the place. They also have a lot of specialty items. read more

Had the time to visit Fresh Thyme Market. This store is an organic junkies paradise as they have a nice selection of organic and store brand foods along with a good selection of bulk buy grains, seeds, nuts, etc. Their various types of house made sausages is also very good. I recommend a visit if you happen to be in the area. read more

LOVE shopping here! Especially Wednesday for double ads. If you shop the sales you can get great quality meats and fresh produce for way cheaper than other nearby grocery stores. If I had any complaint it's that the wait at the deli counter is always long no matter what time I go, because they slice everything fresh for you. So even if there's only one or two people ahead of you, you still end up waiting awhile. Dry goods aren't as good of a deal, but they have a lot of organic products which is what I like! As a regular shopper here I can say that I am truly a fan. Their produce and meat quality is really high compared to Giant Eagle just around the corner. I can't even say the prices are higher because half the time I'd pay more for a lot of things I buy there at Giant Eagle. The only complaint I have is the produce department spacing/capacity. I really do love this little grocery store that just recently opened up. They have a great selection of organic and vegan friendly foods. They have a Boars Head deli, which I thoroughly enjoy, a really nice juice bar, and a great produce section. The one thing, though, that I found strange about their produce, is that it never ripens correctly. I've gotten pears, peaches, nectarines, and many more fruits from there, and they never soften or get ripe. They sometimes taste ripe, but are accompanied with a crunch which makes me think that they aren't ripe. I don't know if I'm the only person who's noticed this, but it's definitely frustrating. I don't really get fruits like that there anymore, but other than that, it's really a great store! read more

Very nice organic market. I like the ready made meals they have. Great for stopping after work to pick up dinner. Single serve and family size. Pizza by the silica is two for $5. We have visited a few times, our first being the day after opening day. The produce we have gotten has been very good, and the sale prices are excellent. The regular prices are in line with other supermarkets, but I thought it looked much nicer and fresher. The only meats I've purchased have been on sale, and I've been very happy with their quality. I've tried just a couple other items. I like that they have a lot of harder to find spices and that you can choose your own quantity of them. There is also a large selection of bulk items, but I think they are a bit pricey. That may just be me, as I'm really not familiar with what is average for most of these items. Again, they have some great sales, so be sure to check for those. Also, they have a 2x day on Wednesday. This means that all the sale prices for last week AND the new week are honored. Now for the bad. As some said, the aisles seem narrower here. That COULD be because the store is still relatively new and crowded as new people are checking out the place and still not familiar with the whole layout. Not being familiar with the layout seems to be something the staff is experiencing too. I get it. They are fairly new and there's a learning curve, but twice I asked where something was and was pretty much just told, "Over there". They weren't impolite. Everyone has been very polite. They just seemed like they were very rushed. Feeling "rushed" certainly isn't something I sense in the cashiers, though. Anything but! This is the one thing that has ALMOST made me not want to return after today...our 5th trip so far. The very first visit it almost seemed as if the cashier wanted to "interview" us about our experience while forgetting to ring us up! The next 2 visits were slow when we didn't have a lot of items. Last week was the first time we purchased a couple bulk items to try. The cashier seemed to have no idea whatsoever on how to ring them up. She finally found the screen after several minutes, and I actually had to suggest to her what information to try entering. I'm not a cashier, but what I told her to try is what worked. Today we were 3rd in line. The 1st person had maybe 3 items left to be rung up. The person in front of us had about 10 items, as did we. It took over 10 minutes to get through the line. The person in front of us wished to purchase a reusable bag. The customer, bagger, and cashier got into a conversation about some sort of "instructions" that were on a card attached to the bag. I think the staff, while polite, need more training and familiarization with the store. The selection of items and their quality along with great sale prices may not be enough for them to compete if people get too irritated with a very slow checkout experience. It's my hopes this will improve greatly very soon. They need to have their "full game on", in my opinion, to be the new kid that can both compete with other supermarkets and thrive in the business. read more

I stopped by not expecting much but was surprised at that they had so much to offer. The meat and seafood looked very fresh as did the produce and there is such a large selection. The store was busy but when I was ready to check out there was a register open and ready for me no wait. Everyone was super friendly and I will for sure return even though it is not super close. This is a great new addition to the local grocery scene. The produce section has a great selection and reasonable prices. My only complaint is the deli- the service is SO SLOW and it is understaffed. I can't do my grocery shopping here every single week, but probably 3 out of 4. Love the fruit for the kids. read more
