I go there every time I need food. I really like this Aldi, but yesterday I told the cashier that I had Food Stamps. I tried to put the F.S. card in the machine, had to do it several times before it worked. I was in my daughter's car when I looked at the receipt, it didn't show any F.S. transaction. Awful. They only take cash at the register. There were 4 people with carts full to the top in front of me. I had two items. A woman walked out to open a lane up but failed to informed me when I asked her if any other lanes were open- she walked away from me. Then we went over to open up her lane. She then didn't resound to me. Ignored me and gave me dirty looks. I will NEVER go back to this location. Never. read more

Hands down the best bang for your buck when grocery shopping these days and the McNeily Road (err....rather Sussex) location is no exception. Not only do they have the best prices compared to the other chains in the area, their shelves are never bare and they always seem to have ample stock. The quality of their meats and produce are always top notch. Katie the one store manager is an absolute ray of sunshine and she brightens my day every time I run into her there. Despite the amount of traffic (both foot and car lol) this location gets, the store and parking lot are laid out well to accommodate this comfortably. read more

They frequently have the best deals on meats that I am looking for. If I don't see something out in the case 9 times out of 10 an employee will check in the back for me. ALDI new self check out is such a great addition to get me in and out quickly. One of 3 weekly stores that I shop at. Also enjoy looking at the aisle with house wares. read more

I am personally not a fan of grocery shopping but I don't mind shopping at Aldi. This Aldi recently expanded and was fully renovated which really brightened up the store. They have a larger organic section and lots of odds and ends in what I call their, 'stuff' section. My go to item is 5 Knoppers, it is a German wafer bar that I eat for breakfast or a snack. Also their fruit snacks are really good and you can get a huge box which is great for lunches. Bar far the best value I have found at Aldi were the rugs. I have two small pups and sometimes they have an accident in the house so I end up throwing away area rugs more frequently than I'd like. I have purchased a 10x12 indoor/outdoor rug for $49 and a 5x7 indoor shag rug for $19. I looked everywhere for deals on rugs and Aldi for sure saved the day. Lastly I did want to mention how nice the workers are and how clean the store is. I am glad I have an Aldi so close to home since I am there a lot. read more

It can be an extremely inconvenient shopping experience, you need to bag your own groceries and have a quarter handy to pay for your cart. For the most part the staff is friendly at this location but there is one incredibly rude employee. I also sometimes tend to feel extremely rushed at the checkout so make sure before you get in line that the quality of everything is to your liking and that your kids didn't throw a bunch of items in the cart when you weren't looking lol. They aren't always well stocked and the quality of their meats and some other items is questionable. With that said there are many items that I really do enjoy that obviously are only carried at aldi. Bottom line, you get what you pay for read more

They renovated the store and it is about half again bigger and wider than it was... There is new lighting also so, it is much brighter and clearer and just more cheerful in there as far as the atmosphere is concerned... The prior version before they renovated was problematic because they were always out of two or three things that I needed every time without fail... That inventory problem seems to have mostly been worked out... They have added many more items that they did not have, prior. Choice is a nice thing. I'm a big fan of Aldi and all their stores are pretty much the same. There are a couple near me and I usually prefer this one mainly because it's easy to get in and out of. It's located on McNeilly Rd, which is mainly industrial without a lot of traffic and not a lot of signals, so you can get in and out quick. If you haven't been to any Aldi store you would should try one out for their excellent prices on many items. There are some items I refuse to get anywhere else than Aldi simply because their prices are almost never beat by any other supermarket. The items in particular I like to get are vegetables, fruit, oatmeal and bread. Carrots for example are $1.29 (and sometimes only $.98) for a two pound bag. Giant Eagle and Shop n Save are quite a bit higher. I don't usually like the meat at Aldi, in particular the chicken, because it comes in a broth with salt added. The quality on everything is just as good if not better than mainline supermarkets. Their chocolate selection and cookie selection is also very good and I especially like the Moser Roth 85% cocoa chocolate bars for only $1.99. They don't have the full line of merchandise of a larger supermarket but habt the majority of what you would need. read more

This is the weirdest Aldi that I've ever been to. The place itself is fine, and the people working there were nice. Yet I would not go back, due to the number of creepy, scary and weird customers. I went on a Saturday at 6:30 pm, which was not an odd time to go grocery shopping. There were several couples look somewhat homeless, and smelt like cigarettes. Then two women were having a major argument in the parking lot, and one of them was threatening another (yelling I will pull you out of that F* car.....), to the point that her family (maybe) had to drag her away. The employees are always very helpful and friendly! The produce and grocery items are always in stock and fresh. If you had never been to an Aldi before, it's good to know that the majority of their items are their brands. You will find cases of Coca-Cola, and then the occasional brand-name item, like condiment items and snacks, but not many. They also have a line of very affordable gluten-free items , called 'live Gluten Free' and healthy items, called 'Fit n Active'. Aldi is a great place for people who want to maintain a healthy lifestyle and diet, as there aren't aisles and aisles of tempting junk food. They still do have a nice selection, but it is the first aisle, so just close your eyes and make your way to the dairy section :)! I have never spent over $100 here; you really can stick to a budget while getting great food for your family. One thing I will mention is that they have a small meats section- and the meats are prepackaged- there is no butcher on site. If you are the type of person that likes freshly prepared meats, or special requests, you may have to hit up another grocery store on your way home for those items. I don't eat a ton of red meat so I typically get the Fit n Active turkey tenderloin (it is excellent, easy to cook, and healthy), and then a bag of raw chicken and raw shrimp (in the freezer section). Parking is never an issue for me, though I must add their busiest day is Sunday in the morning and afternoon- you can still find a spot but you may have to walk a bit (unless you have a handicap tag- there's always at least a spot or two in the front designated for the handicapped). *A note to Aldi if you're reading :) - the only frustrating part about Aldi is their 'clearance' section, normally a shelving unit of household and grocery items. These items are very rarely labeled, so people walk right past them as Aldi isn't the type of store that you walk up to a cashier for a price-check; there are normally only 1-2 lanes open frequently with a line. Though I have recently noticed that they are keeping the items on the shelves longer with a clearance tag beneath them- which works much better and those items go quickly. If you continue with the shelving unit(s), please mark those items with their reduced prices, and you will see them purchased quicker (probably by me), I promise you! read more

For many years, a Foodland once sat here; one lousy Foodland. The owner of this Foodland also owned the one in Beechview, putting not a dime into either. He also sat on the Chamber of Commerce to prevent competition. A new day has arrived. A tyrant has been dethroned, and the age of ALDI has begun. I stopped in yesterday after putting it off for too long and will make the following observations. *I don't like everything they have, but what they do have is as good or better than any store brands I have come across. What you'll find are brands that may be unfamiliar to you (they certainly were to me). Examples include Nature's Nectar fruit drink, Belmont frozen pies, Friendly Farms sour cream, PurAqua spring water, and Boulder plastic cups. This is a strange, alternate universe indeed. *The prices are difficult to beat, their produce and paper products being particularly affordable. A titanic watermelon can be had for $3-4. Artisan lettuce costs half as much at ALDI as it does at Giant Eagle. *Their meats and cheeses are pre-packaged. No deli or meat counter can be found on the premises. *Aside from produce and meat, most of their stock comes in boxes or cans or is frozen. Remember bulk food warehouses? This is a new, cleaner, more compact version of that concept. *Their selection of pet foods and supplies is very limited. *The store is SPOTLESS. Clearly, you won't find everything you need here, but if you're on a budget, and ALDI has what you need, it's worth making a trip (please...no Wal-Mart!). P.S. Honestly, this isn't the greatest supermarket in all the land, but longtime residents will tell you that this ALDI store is a marked improvement over the decrepit Rudeland of yesterday, which would have garnered -5 stars from me if it were possible. read more

Aldis is different than usual grocery stores. Some name brand products but mostly Aldis's brand. Prices are incredibly reasonable for most items and they have al sections including produce, freezer, refrigerator, etc. You need a quarter for a cart and you must return the cart to get your quarter back. You also must bag your own groceries. I won't get all of my groceries here but certain items are definitely worth making a trip. The money you can save really adds up! read more

This is probably my favorite Aldi's in Pittsburgh for its size, it's ample parking and sometimes friendly workers. It does get busy here, but never so busy where you're struggling to maneuver your cart around the store (like some other locations). The location is also very easy to get to. Consistent with all other Aldi stores, you need a quarter to use a cart. You enter into the chip aisle and have to loop around to get to the register. The selection seems to keep getting bigger and the prices are relatively low. I've found that most of the Aldi brand items are just as good as name brand if not better in some cases. What I really like is its addition of more health food and organic items. Aldi is a store you could get your basic staples but lacks special items that a larger grocery store would have. read more

I don't like the off brands they have. Not a good selection. And either the fruits or vegetables I buy there never fail to bring those nat/fruit fly things. You can see them flying around the store, and every time I go there I have to get rid of a bunch of them. I pay the extra few bucks and buy my fruits and vegetables at Giant Eagle. Never had a nat since. Sorry but I miss Foodland. I'd of loved to see a Shop N Save or Giant Eagle there. read more

The Aldi's located in Brookline on Sussex Ave is great when it comes to prices but as far as checking out it is the worst, they never have more than 2 cashiers working even when there's 50 people waiting to pay. I guess there attitude is maximum $$ coming in and minimum $$ dollars being paid out with employees. Every time I go in there it's the same story, tons of people shopping and minimal employees working. Since I don't drive at the current time, I am forced to shop locally so until I drive I'm stuck, but when I do get a car I will be shopping elsewhere. read more
