Of all the pizza places in Miami, this one is the closest to my house. It would really have been a home run if it was my favorite, but sadly it did not make it. Not that the pizza isn't good; it just isn't great. And it is not because of the ingredients as they all tasted fresh and delicious. It is the preparation. Now let me set some foundation here. I have lived in Rhode Island where pizza is a staple. I have lived in New York and Connecticut, which, despite being neighboring states have entirely different ideas of what the perfect pizza is, and I had the good fortune of the best of both. I have lived in Massachusetts we're outside of the north end of Boston pizza is largely very mediocre and I give all this information just to tell you that I have an established standard for pizza that may differ from other peoples. My favorites come out of coal fired brick ovens. So I was pretty excited about trying Strange Beast. They use a gas fired pizza oven that reaches the same temperatures as the ones to make apizza but they make a Neapolitan pie which traditionally has a soft center whereas Apizza is baked longer to achieve a sturdy, crispy crunch. And this is the part that disappoints me. That soft center does not hold the toppings well and makes the pizza droop when you pick it up. Much like the New York pizza that you have to fold over to keep the toppings from falling off, this pizza just did not have that firmness that I love so much. And on this evening when I ordered the Swamp Thing (Mozzarella, Ricotta, Red Onion, Cherry Tomatoes, Pesto) the center actually seemed raw. Somehow, despite having all my favorite flavors, it looked beautiful on the pan, but flopped over and lost its appeal when it was picked up the flavors all in all were pretty good. The restaurant itself has a pretty cool vibe and the servers were superb. In addition to grieving great service, they were friendly and engaging. This is kind of a highlight of the restaurant. This review is based on a single experience and I will probably try it again. I may ask them to cook the pizza well done to see if it comes closer to what I like. I can't give it my highest recommendation, but I would never give it less than four stars based on even the service alone. So I will be back again an update this sometime soon. read more

Tried the tight end which was really delicious and will be getting again. Also tried the Doug's white which was good. Okay so I guess I'm the last person to finally visit this spot. I loved it! The vibe is laid back and the li e music was great. Guy on the guitar had some serious skills. We came on a Friday and enjoyed a delightful mushroom.pizza and the truffle airlines potatoes. We had several.glasses of chardonnay and watched how quickly the place got packed. ove the decor as it's a mix of then, now and some cool memorabilia. Staff was real nice and attentive. The good here never disappoints and they have a great selection of beers - I like the morning glory (blonde ale) and the rizz (Pilsner). My go to pie here is Gen Hogzilla and incredible meat lovers pizza 1 don't forget the hot honey!! Ambiance is always chill here - sometimes can be lively depending on the crowd and whether or not they have a DJ playing when you visit. Great experience at Strange Beast in Kendall! As soon as we opened the door and walked in, Rob greeted us and gave us the rundown on the meatball and beer specials. He was super welcoming! He recommended the Robaoke pizza and it was SO good! Vaca frita with red onions and chimichurri! Where else can you get that on a pizza in Kendall?? We also tried 3 other types of pizza and while they all were flavorful, the Robaoke was my favorite. Still one of the best pizzas I've had in Miami! The Willy dropped the sauce and the chopped Pepperoni pizza is my go to. I always add a ton of veggies to the pizza and some chili flakes to give it a kick. The service is really good. Everyone is so nice and playful. It's also a bar. There's rock music always playing and everyone seems to be enjoying their pizza and beer. Wednesdays are trivia nights. Some nights are bingo nights, some nights have live music, etc. Every night at Strange Beast is enjoyable, whether you're participating in the games, having some pizza or you're just there for the drinks. Strange Beast is a great brewery in the Kendall area! Came here after a tournament at the nearby Deta Pickleball Club to celebrate with some pizza and brews. Parking here is a bit tough if it gets packed but since we came right when it opened at noon, it wasn't so bad. It shares a parking lot next to the gas station with a few other businesses including a mechanic shop and Sweet Melody. There is a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Since the weather was nice, we opted to sit outside on the picnic tables. We ordered inside and were able to try some of the beers on tap. I ended up getting the hazy IPA because I love IPAs. If you like some of their sours or lagers that come in the cans, it might be a better deal to buy a 4-pack. The guy who was helping us while we were ordering was super helpful and chill. When we ended up ordering more beer with a 4-pack, he offered to keep some of the cans in the cooler so that the beer can stay cold for when we're ready to drink them. We also ordered some pizzas. They were out of a lot of meats but we still chose some good ones including the Shroom 2.0 and the Doug's White and added meatball crumble and the spicy chorizo. My favorite between the two was definitely the Shroom 2.0! You can see them making the pizzas inside and when their ready, your buzzer goes off so you can pick it up! My first time here and we decided on Karaoke Thursdays which starts at 9pm and goes until 2 am. Food-- we loved the food options! My cousin does not eat meat so we ordered the roasted cauliflower and the papas Santeras both were so good and filling! For pizzas we split the Shroom and Margherita and both were very nicely done. Drinks-- I ordered the Apple cider and that was my drink of choice for the entire night. My friends ordered the Morning Glory, Chet, P.Swayze and loved them. Karaoke -- the Dj was incredible and really killed every song he performed. The talent in the place was insane. I spent most of the night being awestruck but I loved it and would be back. It gets very packed and there is definitely a group of Karaoke regulars but a fun gem in Kendall. Had a hankering for pizza on a Sunday night and Strange Beast came highly recommended. Donning our coziest Sunday sweats, my boyfriend and I ventured for some cheezy goodness. We arrived around 8:00p greeted by our friendly neighborhood Miami chickens in the parking lot, shared by an auto shop, ice cream parlor, and barber shop. We got our order in for the mushroom pizza and roasted cauliflower, wait times were not too bad! Inside, low lighting with kaiju monsters illustrated on the walls, bathrooms have an eerie ambience with red lighting. The pizza was 10/10!! The mushrooms were mushrooming, the cauliflower woulda maybe preferred it to be a bit more cooked but the seasoning on it with the seeds and that sauce they drizzle on it is fireeeee! Amazing pizza with the best beer to go along with it! Definitely worth to visit and enjoy the ambiance.

Was in the vicinity Sunday just before Halloween trick or Treater so ordered pickup on their website and wow was it ready super fast!  The guy inside with chill clothes and relaxed vibe handed my food and crowlers.  Good stuff. Food: Placed an order of 3 big meatballs and an order of their house made bread with dipping sauce.  Meatballs were nicely dense but felt a bit heavy handed on the seasoning.  Is it because its being eaten while drinking beer which quickly washes the palate? The meatsauce was just right, it was good. Onto the bread which was interesting both because it was in pieces and of varying thickness from crispy thin to a thin chewy size not like any bread one would expect.  It reminds me of leftover dough that would have been used to make a pizza, just torn into pieces and cooked. I liked the texture but ya gotta dip them in the garlic lime aioli.   OMG that sauce was rich!  Definitly garlicky and that rich aioli gets to be too much after awhile.  Either share or save the rest for the next day.  It was interesting flavor that grew on me the more I ate it.  Might have it again although would like to try the cheese bread next time! Drink: Bought 3 crowlers of Lawyers donr surf juicy hazy ipa 6.9% to share with the house.  It's been a very long time I have been here so forgot how this beer tastes but it is a go to everytime I had visited before!  A reliable good beer everytime.  I will have to start trying their others if anything is new out next time! read more
