This place is awesome!!! I bought a used bike and After paying for a tune-up and getting ripped off at Pedal Power-I brought my bike into Storrs Center Cycle. Aaron was sympathetic and totally shocked at what wasn't done to my bike. He took it in and gave me a complete tuneup and replaced the rotted out tires for an extremely reasonable price. All of the staff is heavily involved in the industry with at least 2 of the guys Being competitive riders. When you're considering purchasing a bike especially in the higher end performers it is ESSENTIAL the salesperson know your needs and knows the product. Aaron (the owner) simply put is awesome. He was patient with our dozens of questions and well-versed. We're a family of four considering upgrading to road bikes, Aaron again took the time to make 100% sure each of us were compatible with our bikes making dozens of adjustments with the seats and changing equipment ensuring we were completely satisfied. When he used a plumb line for measurement I knew we were in good hands. When my daughter had a defect with her bike, Aaron without hesitation was on the problem working with the manufacturer and expedited shipping her a replacement within a day! The staff are always friendly and accommodating and the selection of bike accessories impressive. Prior to my finding Storrs Center Cycle I'd checked out many other bike shops in the Hartford area, I quickly learned a certain attitude among Cyclist and an impatiences to my questions as if I should have already known before I came to their store with my questions. I literately walk away from one salesmen in the Newington Cycle shop before an argument erupted, I will never go near that place even if they were giving their stuff away. I recently stopped by SCC to buy a bike with absolutely no knowledge about bikes or what I was even really looking for. They were so helpful and informative and were able set me up with a bike that would best fit my needs. I was incredibly impressed with how professional and knowledgeable the whole staff was about everything bike related. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a bike, whether a newbie like me, or the seasoned biking veteran. I especially loved the attention to detail that they had. They went through how everything worked, from how to handle the bike in general, to placing the rack on my car, and how to properly put my bike on the rack and secure it. They also requested that after a month or so that I bring the bike back for a completementary checkup to make sure that I am getting the best fit out of my bike. I have been frequenting Storrs Center Cycle for just about a year now and I have to say that I have NEVER experienced better or more professional service or support from a business. The owner is always there and is extremely knowledgeable regarding all manners of bike, both new and old. He is a local and knows the trails in the area extremely well. The entire staff cares about you and your ride and wants you to have the best experience on the road or the trail or both, whichever you may choose to ride. Also, they all have technical knowledge and you never have to wait for a tech to be available to work on your bike! The guys have built me new bikes and worked on my old bikes when I crash. They always take budget into consideration trying to get you the most bang for your buck. This is consistently a FIVE STAR bicycle shop. I have been in and out of this shop for just over two years and I'm really blown away by this ship. Two years ago I moved to this area with a 1990's mountain bike. Despite my love for the bike it was beyond disrepair, due to my neglect. I started talking to the owner about my wants to return my bike to safe working condition, while keeping it looking like a 90's mountain bike and yet not breaking my very fragile bank account. As soon as I started talking about this project I could see his eyes lights up, I realized he too had a passion to restore "retro" bikes. Talking to him was beyond comfortable even though no sales were likely to be realized in the short term. So after several, personal, financial set backs, and two years later we have finally completed this project. Never once was was I made to feel awkward in my MANY visits to the shop while I was still saving. The whole staff is always friendly, happy to help and the shop has a very comfortable feel. It reminds me of the small town bike shop in grew up in. My bike project was on budget and the communication from the shop was excellent. Most of all they have always been thoughtful about meeting all my needs and have always given me straight forward information and let me make my own decisions on this project. Talk about great service. And I have seen them treat EVERY customs that way. Even people who aren't buying anything. This bike shop is epic and I'm proud to call SCC my home bike shop. read more

Only had brief experience here but it was a good one, friendly and knowledgeable staff got my bike back on the road with a prompt turnaround. Prices weren't too high either. Considering I've heard some shaky things about neighboring Scott's in willimantic I'll probably continue to sway towards this. read more

Took 2 bikes for tune ups and to have toe clips put on one. Neither bike would then shift to a lower gear AND the toe clip fell off half way thru a 10 mile ride. They were not very apologetic when the bikes were taken back in to be "fixed" after really not being broken the first time I went! I will go to Scotts in Willimantic in the future. read more

I'm sure there are many excellent bike shops out there, but I have yet to experience a shop with staff as helpful and knowledgeable as Storrs Center Cycle. My experience with SCC began as I searched for a Jamis Renegade Exploit in Spring 2016. The owner, Aaron, was diligent in his search and stayed in touch with me throughout the process. Ultimately, we learned the bike was so popular that it sold out in my size. That led to a search for a different bike, through which I realized SCC is worthy of my loyalty. Admittedly, I'm not a bike expert, but that didn't matter with Aaron. He showed me several bikes from Jamis and Cannondale, explained features, fit etc.; and allowed me to demo them. In the end, I found myself the happy owner of a Jamis Renegade Expert, which I love and highly recommend. If not for Aaron's guidance, I probably would have ended up with a bike that didn't fit properly and wasn't exactly what I needed. I'm thrilled the Exploit wasn't available because I gained a great new bike and a great new bike shop in the process. Since the original purchase, I've been in contact with Aaron/SCC a few times. Shortly after the purchase I had questions about the bike. Simply, I called the shop and Aaron was available to expertly provide answers. Later that spring my bike required its first tune-up. At the time of purchase Aaron was aware that I live in Boston, and he said he'd do what he could to be flexible about scheduling maintenance of the bike, based on my schedule. True to form, and on very short notice, Aaron went out of his way to fit the tune-up into the store's booked weekend schedule after I announced I'd be in the area on a last-minute trip to visit family. It is without any reservation that I recommend Storrs Center Cycle. The service, product knowledge, on-staff road and mountain biking experience, and bike lineup are top-notch. read more

In the other places we've lived, I've ranked a visit to bike shop somewhere around a trip to the DMV. They just don't tend to be terribly friendly places. This is our first local bike shop where I actually look forward to going. Aaron is not only friendly, he's genuinely, geeked-out, over-the-top in love with bikes and everything that has to do with them. He can also recognize that we're pretty low-caliber cyclists, the kind that ride trails with our kids on the weekends, and he's able to outfit us with gear that suits the kind of riding we do on a budget that works for us. He's never pushy and always keen to explain things that we don't understand. It's really nice to be able to trust that someone is interested in keeping your business and not just making a sale. He doesn't even have that much competition in the area, but he still treats people like he values their business. Really a great bike shop. Wish there were more like this one! read more

About a week ago my shifter on my road bike broke so I called Storrs Center Cycle for help. Aaron was very friendly and quick to call SRAM to send me a replacement. Not only that, but when the shifter did come in he installed it on the same day it arrived so I could get back on to my bike as soon as possible. The service was professional and friendly. Although the store is a little on the smaller size, it is packed to the brim with merchandise. I would absolutely recommend this store to anyone who wants friendly, reliable, and professional service. read more
