I don't usually leave reviews, but I won't be giving this shop my business again. This started back in Fall 2024 when I brought my bike in for a full tune-up. It came back looking great, tight brakes, true wheels, smooth shifting. I was happy to pay the $185. I stored it for the winter and looked forward to riding it in the spring. When I pulled it out in the spring, the rear tire was flat. I wasn't sure how it happened since I hadn't even ridden it, but with a big bike trip planned in July, I wanted it fixed. Visit 1: In June I brought it in for a tube replacement. I paid $24 for a new tube and labor. The staff, mostly younger employees, were joking around and not fully focused. I overheard one say they nearly blew the tire by leaving it hooked up to the electric pump too long. By the time I got home, the tire was flat again. Visit 2: I returned a few days later. They said the tire liner was the issue, so I paid another $24 for a new liner, another tube, and labor. Again, they nearly overinflated the tire -- one employee even joked, "That was a close one." Once again, the tire was flat when I got home. Visit 3: This time, they said the liner had shifted and exposed a spoke, which punctured the tube. I offered to just buy a new wheel, but they said it wasn't necessary and they could fix it. I left the bike overnight and told them I'd only pick it up if the tire held air. The next day, it didn't. They did more work, sanding spokes, and eventually got it to hold air. But when I picked it up, the wheel was no longer true and rubbed against the brakes -- and I still hadn't ridden the bike once since I got the full tune up in the fall. At this point, I was frustrated. I told them to just put on a new wheel -- but I wasn't paying full price since the damage clearly happened in their shop. I'd already spent over $200 and still didn't have a rideable bike. Visit 4: The day before my trip I paid $91 for a new wheel and labor and took the bike home. The next day, while loading it onto my car rack, I saw that now, the front tire was flat. So either they swapped the faulty rear tire to the front out of spite for me asking for a discount, or they made the same overinflation mistake again. I cannot trust this shop to do basic repairs. After spending over $300, the bike was never rideable and I had to borrow a bike for my trip. I'll be taking it elsewhere to fix the front tire. I'd strongly recommend finding a more professional, reliable bike shop. read more

I have been a customer here for years, and they consistently impress me. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and there are times when the advice they give me ends up preventing problems that would result in them performing a service on my bike, which is a rarity with a lot of businesses. But they are really passionate about bike riding, whether you are a casual, recreational rider like me or a serious road warrior. They can relate to you wherever you are in your biking needs, and it's such a valuable resource to get answers to questions or having your bike worked on, or to purchase a bike, helmet, really anything you need for safely riding. read more

I have been to this shop before to have 2 different electric bikes that was purchased while I was in California serviced there for minor things like tune up, flat tire, helmets, locks, etc.. It looks like they want to lock out their neighborhood customers and limit it to only Bikes they sold them. I had the need for a new brake pad to be installed and was told they didn't touch any other bikes unless they sold them into their shop. They told me 1) too heavy (although I have had them service it 2x before), that they didn't want to get into a job and have it cost 7-10X of the cost and have me not pay. I even offered to have them call me before proceeding or even sign a hold harmless agreement but it boils down to they want to squeeze out any brands they didn't sell. The person was apologetic for this position and said if I got stuck to call him back and he would try but no promises. That sent me down the street to another place. Bottom line is I took it to another place in Vernon (Pedal Power) and they did it fast plus a tune up for 99 dollars.. Steve at Pedal Power is wonderful if you are in the same bind with Lectric e-bikes needing a fix - even a flat tire. I would buy anything in the future from them because they see business as a long term relationship. I was very disappointed with the 2 Glastonbury bike shops. I will post the details of their service (the other 2 that turned me down). One on Main Street I gave 2 stars because I feel that they at least they may have helped me but I don't want to beg for someone to service a very easy install that took 30 min. Thankfully, there are companies like pedal Power, that will be around longer than these mom and Pop shops that just want a quick buck. For them, I would just suggest give me a price that says I don't really want to do the work and at least it's my choice but they wouldn't even do that. Very poor customer service. Dropped 2 bikes off 6/15.Supposed to call with an estimate for tune up next day. Had to call 3 times and finally got a quote. Also now they say they can't look at it until 7/11/2023.Never said that when we dropped off bikes. Picking the bikes up and bringing to another shop. NEVER again. read more

Be very careful of this store. On May 17, 2024 I ordered a Sun Traditional 7 trike. This is the 7 speed and I wanted one because I own one in Florida. This was a special order and I was quoted a price of $699.99. I put down a $400.00 deposit. At that time I asked the salesman Chris if this was definitely for the 7 speed. He said yes, $699.99 "out the door". The trike came in, was assembled, and I came in to pick it up on May 27. I was told by Chris that the balance was $535.86. I asked why, and was told that the $699.99 was for the single speed and there was a $159.99 7 speed conversion kit that I was being charged for. I was never informed of this upcharge at any time until I came in to get the trike, even though I had talked to them twice before after ordering the trike. I took the trike because I knew that if I did not, I would not see my $400.00 returned. I have checked the Sun website and see that the MSRP for the 7 speed is $699.99. I believe that I was overcharged and that they should have honored the quoted $699.99 price. So if you shop at this store, be very careful of the pricing and get any verbal representations in writing. read more

This is my bike shop when I lived in Vernon and continues to be even though I live in MA now. I have found their service and helpfulness over the years to be invaluable, most of the employees are serious riders and now where of they speak. Dean, who heads up the service department, has been working on my bikes for years and does and exemplary job. I love these guys a lot. I've brought my full sus mtb and road bike in and they've done get work with both. I bought both my bikes used so I've had these guys look through everything. My road bike they pretty much took totally apart and put it back together. They helped clean up, install different parts and rewire my di2 groupset to be better for me and the bike. Super happy. I also brought in my full sus mtb. They took it apart as well and have helped me set it up for riding. I've even brought it in last minute to get a new cable installed for my dropper and they've been able to get me in and out quickly. Great and helpful staff, great attention to detail. They can walk you through what they've done with your bike perfectly and make recommendations too. Great communication through the whole process. read more

Very overpriced! They charged me $68 to Adjust both of my derailleurs, 3 days later they became unadjusted when I was riding at Valley falls on my Cannondale Trail 8. We decided to try somebody else and went to "The bike shop" In South Windsor CT, they charged me $20 to adjust both the derailleurs. As nice as they are, there prices are To high. this is the Starbucks of mountain bikes, Over priced, Nothing special, You go there because of the name. No other reason. read more

Went for the first time to the Vernon location for service repair. Had a problem with my Trek Fuel the mechanic (unfortunately I can't remember his name younger guy) explained he would contact Trek for the part and call me. He did so the same day with price for parts & labor. He then contacted me when bike was done and explained he also checked brakes and shifting. Being happy with the service I returned a week later with my other bike a Specialized Stump Jumper which had a more labor intense issue. The head mechanic, Dean called and meticulously explained what needed to be done with price. Upon picking up my repaired bike as I was putting it in the car Dean approached me in the parking lot. We had not met but only spoken by phone. After introductions we talked about bikes as he proved to have a wealth of knowledge. I mountain bike a few days a week and need a good mechanic. The folks who work in the Vernon store could not have been nicer. Im a grandmother looking for a bike to use on the local bike trails. Staff were patient, polite and very knowledgeable. I bought a Townie bike and use it every day. Have stopped by with questions and needed help getting air for two little kids bikes we were donating. Very upset with the service..Came in to get my bike tuned up, I chose the $75 package which should've covered most of what I needed done, I got the call stating that my bike was all set. When I arrived my bike was not polished, and my pedal was broken and my gears make a a squeaky sound.. the only reason why i give this review a 2 is because they gave me a discounted price. read more

Great bike shop they were very friendly and helpful. . Something was wrong with the wheel. They have a great selection of bikes and are very knowledgeable about biking. One time something was wrong with a family members wheelchair and I brought it there and they were even able to help me with that for a very reasonable cost. Highly recommend this store. read more

This is a great local shop, I have purchased a Mountain Bike in the Vernon store and a hybrid bike in Middletown store. The staff at both locations are very knowledgeable and didn't try to sell my on accessories or upgrades that I didn't need, based on the type of riding i was looking to do. They made sure the bike was adjusted and road/trail ready before it went out the door. I highly recommend this shop for a new bike or for service. read more

Great store and I've been extremely happy with the sales and service teams. They've kept me rolling with loaner equipment while mine was under repair, which I greatly appreciate. Experience and knowledge run deep with the managers, and I keep going back even though there is a closer shop to me. I'm giving 4 starts because of my last visit. I purchased 2 tires (not cheap ones) and asked if they could be mounted. I was told they could be and it took only a short while. I assumed they would mount them for free because I just purchased them in the store. I was surprised to be rung up for mounting the 2 tires and just would have appreciated being told there was a charge and the amount upfront. I would have mounted them myself. read more

Have meant to write this for a year now; the up-side to being a year late is that my impression has only gotten better. Pedal Power has that Big bike store showroom and selection; with the small-local store feel for customer service, attention to detail and flat-out bike knowledge. Bought a couple of bikes last year, and keep coming back for tips, expertise - and Dean's superior wrenching.
