These cabins are dated, small, and very overpriced for what is included. The cabin was not clean with cobwebs on the ceilings and crumbs in the couch cushion. The cabin only had two electrical outlets total in inconvenient spots, no hair dryer, no refrigerator, nor a coffee maker. Breakfast in the main lodge included one stale pastry of your choice and a coffee/tea. They do have a small selection of snacks and other merchandise for sale. Additionally, when we checked out by turning in our cabin key we nothing more than a thank you before the young front desk representative went back to texting on her phone. No questions asked about how our stay was or anything else. Would not stay here again and would not recommend it. read more

We had a small event taking over 10 of their cabins. What a lovely spot. Beautiful grounds with the fresh snow, the 100+ year old cabin was so unique and cozy. Bed was comfy and overall just quaint. Wish we were there longer to relax, enjoy the surroundings, have a fire.. We all had dinner and loved it. Food was delicious, and hot!! (So rare!) and plentiful along with great service. We had a gal who stuck out our crew as we continued to enjoy a few drinks after dinner as we laughed and enjoyed some music much later than was their intention I'm sure. Everyone was so accommodating and we had a wonderful time. I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique spot and great food in a proverbial winter wonderland. It was such a memorable and special experience staying at Storm Mountain Lodge. The Storm Mountain Lodge cabins have been around for over 101 yrs! They were originally built by Canadian Pacific Railway to promote tourism in the Rocky Mountains (taken from their website - https://stormmountainlodge.com/our-history). Since then the cabins have kept their original integrity, but have been updated/maintained to ensure a cozy and comfortable stay for visitors. From the moment we arrived - everything was so charming. Our cabin had been pre-heated by a warming heater and there was firewood waiting for us by their wood burning fireplace. Since the cabins are older and they have to be protective of their electrical needs etc - they don't have coffee makers etc in the accommodations, but you can easily go to the lodge for morning coffee/toast/pastries etc. Perhaps the real draw of Storm Mountain Lodge is their impressive restaurant. You don't have to be staying at the lodge to eat at their lodge restaurant. That being said, regardless of whether you're passing through or staying on the grounds - I highly recommend making a reservation for dinner well in advance. They have limited seating and they fill up quickly. We ordered the scallops and the fish of the day. My husband also enjoyed their fresh jalapeno molasses pumpkin seed bread and paired it with a big portion of their seasonal mushroom soup. Everything was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. My husband finished off his meal with a berry crumble topped with salted caramel ice-cream, and plated with a freshly baked cookie and a chocolate truffle dessert Absolutely divine! As we ate, we watched a number of incredible dishes pass by our table to other diners. They all looked so delicious - particularly the bison steak tenderloin. It was a wondrous evening full of beautifully crafted dishes and warm customer service, all housed within a rustic lodge warmed by a crackling fireplace. We enjoyed the rest of the evening in our cabin. It had an charming clawfoot tub and the beds were warm, clean and comfy. A pleasant surprise was that they even had internet/connection (despite their online advisory that they most likely would not have wi-fi). It allowed us to catch up on some E-mail and enjoy some shows - as the night wound down. We didn't have the accommodation, but we had dinner during our vacation. I think it was the best dinner of our trip. I ordered the bison steak tenderloin, while my husband the bison/elk burger. My steak was absolutely delicious, juicy and tenderness. Also my husband loved his burger. It was perfectly cooked, juicy and a good taste. We finished our meal with the chocolate cake that was amazing. The restaurant is also very nice and quiet. It's pricey, but every penny is worth it. It was a perfect dinner. read more

Hands down the best dinner we had while in Banff National Park. I found this little gem on Yelp and quickly made a reservation after seeing the menu and all the photos. The restaurant is inside the cabin main office. The room is so warm with a beautiful fire place and just had that old cabin feel. I will warn you that you shouldn't be in a hurry if you come here. We waited a long time for drinks and food but the wait is so WORTH IT!!! Our server was brand new so can't blame him for any service slow downs as he was working alone and had a room full of tables. The drinks were incredible once we got them! The blackberry sour was my favorite. For appetizers, we got the goat cheese, carpaccio, and salad. The carpaccio was the star! So freaking good! For dinner, we ordered the rack of lamb, bison, scallops, pork chop (special of the day) and duck confit. Every dish looked like it was out of a magazine! So gorgeous. We stayed here in 2018 and completely fell in love with everything about it. We decided we would rent a bunch of cabins and bring friends and family here for my 50th birthday in 2020...and two years later, we were finally able to have my delayed celebration. The cabins are as quaint and the food is as amazing as they were four years ago. The staff was wonderful- they set our group of 20 up with drinks and appetizers around the fire pit each night and arranged the tables in the lodge so we could all eat together. Every detail was perfect, and the food and cocktails were unbelievable. I can't say enough about Storm Mountain Lodge- it's the perfect place to go for romance with your partner or for a group celebration. And the breakfasts...unforgettable. Beyond amazing. Every detail, from the cabin with its wood-burning fireplace to the restaurant's locally sourced ingredients, is immaculate. We felt so at home with the friendly team who runs the Lodge, and wish we could have stayed for a month! The real show-stopper is the food. Oh my god. The best food I have ever had, and I say this as someone who has lived in New Orleans for years. Their breakfast sandwiches (especially the aged bison + brie + cranberry jam sandwich) are delicious. We dined in the restaurant for dinner each night of our stay, and on the final evening, opted for the Chef's Choice five-course option. It was absolutely incredible. Come here for the food. Seriously! I found this place through yelp (thank yoooou previous reviewers!!) So called up to book a table. They didn't have any space for us in the restaurant, but they made a cozy seat for us by the fire, and served our dinner on a table made of an old sleigh! It was perfect! I tried the bison tenderloin. It was so good; a perfect medium rare steak, but with a slightly stronger flavour. It came with sweet potato mash, veggies and a whiskey sauce. Every bite made me happy. The staff were total sweeties and the wine was delicious too. Helpful hint: Go early-ish! We arrived at 8pm, and they mentioned that they are unable to serve people after 8:30pm. read more

Unbelievable. This little hidden gem is simply unbelievable. You arrive to a rustic cabin which looks like something out of history. Woodburning fire smoke fills the air with a beautiful scent emits the forest. And then you step inside. Inside is a full wood-burning fireplace crackling with a quaint little bar and restaurant that is entirely unassuming. Then you sit down and begin to order and you cannot believe what you are treated with. This is a five star Michelin type restaurant hidden in this little cabin between Banff and Lake Louise. I almost am tempted to not post this just to keep it a secret. The chef deserves amazing accolades for a great five star evening. We're all still a little bit in shock as it was just simply unexpected and such a delight. I've posted some of the pictures of what we got. Even the cocktails were fun and exciting. My husband and I had the most wonderful stay at the lodge!! Our log cabin was ridiculously cozy and perfectly decorated, with a wood burning fireplace, and we couldn't have felt more remote or relaxed while it snowed outside. Our cabin was far back from the road, so noise wasn't an issue at all. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful from our initial inquiries to throughout our stay. The restaurant was also truly delicious (we had the best breakfasts as well as dinner), and the craft cocktails were equally great! We will definitely be back. This was the BEST find! I saw some reviews here and said, let's go for lunch since we were nearby. The food and it's presentation, the little gift shop (with Louise Penny books and tea!) and ambience are just wonderful! It was so good we booked dinner reservations for the next day to come back but sadly hubby spent all day in bed sick. We will definitely come back with out next visit for sure! We had a wonderful beet vegetable soup, seafood cake (SOOO good!), elk burger with salad, Creme brûlée with a little bit of yummy chocolate mousse on the side. Storm Mountain Lodge is located in Banff National Park in the Vermillion Pass on the Banff-Windermere Highway (#93 south). It is just 25 minutes outside of Banff and Lake Louise townsites. It's a reasonable drive and a nice quiet nature alternative to actually staying in a sometimes busy and touristy Banff. It's also on the way to Kootenay National Park and Radium Hot Springs further down the road. Storm Mountain Lodge was constructed in 1922 as one of eight Bungalow Camps built by Canadian Pacific Railway to promote tourism in the Rocky Mountains. The Site consistes of a Main Lodge building with an excellent restaurant that serves dinner (make sure to make reservations) and offers a continental breakfast with home-baked goodies for breakfast. There's also a fireside lounge area and a nice gift shop feartures local crafts. There are fourteen original log cabins constructed in the early 1920's with completely restored interiors. Each also has front porch for relaxation and reading. The cabins are well spaced for privacy on a forested site. The cabins are very comfortable and fun to stay in. I have stayed here twice and will do so again the next time I'm in the area. read more

We stayed at the resort and greatly enjoyed the rustic cabins, but the food was definitely the highlight. I loved our stay at this boutique lodge inside Banff National Park in Canada. It is located conveniently as a home-base to explore the mountains and lakes in the national parks, easy to find, in a wooded mountainside setting. We stayed in a two-person log cabin with a wood-burning fireplace. The cabin was decorated with a rustic, homey feel. It had some old-fashioned things like a claw-foot tub and fireplace, but also some modern conveniences (hot water, electricity, gas heat in case you don't want to deal with the fireplace, though no WiFi or tv). The food at the main cabin was amazing - on a level I would expect at foodie restaurants in a large city. Everything we had at both breakfast and dinner was delicious, but my favorite was the lamb chops, which were cooked and seasoned perfectly and served with roasted seasonal veggies. Annnd we DEFINITELY recommend getting a dinner reservation to eat at The Lodge. The homemade "Lodge Bread" with radish butter and the charcuterie board are awesome appetizers. I loved my halibut with summer risotto... the flavors were amazing. I have never had a better seasoned piece of fish or more perfectly cooked vegetables anywhere else and the risotto was sooo good. My husband loved the cranberry glazed pork chop with rosemary potatoes. They also seem to have an amazing wine/cocktail selection. We waited not even 10 extra minutes for our cabin to be available and were offered a free drink by the staff as well as hiking recommendations. Everyone is so friendly... the food is amazing... the cabins are perfect. This place was definitely a "splurge" on our trip but it has been worth every penny! read more

We haven't stayed at the lodge but we've eaten at the restaurant. The location is really nice -- you have a view on the mountains and it's very close to several amazing trails. The service was also spectacular but the food ...THE FOOD!!!! Oh my... This is a real foodie place. The cheese/meat plate that we had as an appetizer was a work of art. It had edible flowers and the combination of everything was just spectacular -- the homemade bread served with it made it perfect. The bison was great -- due to dietary restrictions we had to ask for modifications and the chef had to change half the dish for us on the fly. My partner and I were aware when making this booking that we'd enjoy an escape from the fast pace of life. The cabins and lodge have no wifi access, which gave us the opportunity to dive into our books in front of the fire, enjoy each other's company, walk our dog and appreciate the sublime setting. Situated 25 minutes outside the centre of Banff, we were happy to be a distance from the hoards of Banff tourists, restaurants and bars. While it may be disappointing for other guests, the absence of TV, hair dryer, alarm clock etc was refreshing, and we were told by staff that this ambience is responsible in part by the fact that the whole lodge and restaurant are powered by a generator. Each cabin has a generously sized front porch with wicker chairs, and is partly obscured by trees, offering some privacy. While the 93 South highway is not far off the site, we found the muffled street sounds negligible, especially as right behind the highway is the stunning Storm Mountain! The staff at this lodge could always be seen working hard to enhance our stay, and these efforts were not lost on us. Thank you! read more
