The overhead light in my unit has never worked. One time I went in on a Sunday and the exit gate was broken. I had to go in and talk to someone on the video screen to try and get it open and even they couldn't do it. I finally had to park my car on the wrong side of the entrance gate, go back in and talk to someone on the video screen and they had to keep the gate open for me long enough to drive out. Then today I get there and my bill is paid in full but they had cut my lock off and put a padlock on the unit. the cut lock was just left on the ground. I couldn't reach anyone on the phone (they never answer the phone) and I had to go into the lobby and talk to someone over the video screen and they said it must have been a mistake. They had to direct me to an empty unit to get a new lock and told me the combination to the lock on my unit just so I could put my own stuff away. This storage facility is terrible. I should never have rented here.

He covers it all. It is exactly what I experienced. When I got the postcard announcing the 80% skyrocket in my rental rate the third month into their month-to-month scheme, I wasted no time getting my belongings out. I've tangled with grift, but I've never seen anything this blatant. I felt like I was suddenly in the grip of a loan shark working for the Mob. Of course, Extra Space Storage preys on people who don't have the ability or opportunity to vacate quickly. It appears to be their business model. They've got you by the you-know-what's if you don't have the means to immediately rescue your stuff and flee. What would the rate hike be in the sixth month, or in a year? I wasn't about to stick around to find out. Like Ray B., on principle alone, I got out. Why reward this predatory business? If you KNOW without doubt you only need a month or two and can then grab your stuff before the whammy, sure, take the reasonable intro offer designed to lure you in. But notice the gleam in the company's eye if you say, when they ask you how long you need the unit, that you're not sure, or mention many months or years. Reprehensible. Shameful. Stay clear.

On moving day, I realized that the unit I had reserved wouldn't accommodate all of my belongings. Store Manager Jalena D. went above and beyond to help. She quickly found an additional unit--conveniently located directly across from my original one--and walked me through the entire process of adding the new space. She even offered water to my movers during the transition. Customer service means a great deal to me, and I would be remiss not to acknowledge the outstanding level of care and professionalism Jalena D. provided. Her support truly made a stressful day much smoother.

I never received it and when I called I was told by the gentleman on the phone that I was misinformed and that they don't pro-rate and refund would only be $15. Not so angry about the money as I am that this seems shady and that I was misinformed. Not a good way to do business!

I don't know how long it has actually been out because on the rare occasions building management responds to my emails they refuse to tell me how long it has been out. They have made no effort to inform renters that there is no air conditioning despite these being climate controlled units. The temperature in the building has gotten up to nearly 105° and likely even higher on the edges of the building since the thermometer is in the middle of the building. Management also doesn't seem to care and is not at all apologetic that they're not providing the services paid for and has given no date for when it will be fixed. Despite Storage Mart corporate responding to my review, I haven't heard from anyone. I called the main number over a week ago and was promised a call from the regional manager but never heard from them. Clearly they have no intention of fixing the AC anytime soon, avoid at all costs!

I have had a 10 x 10 unit listed as "Unit Type: Climate Control" for 2 years and 2 months which I rented to store some items in while constructing a new apartment. We were in and out of the unit often over the two years, but didn't move large items so we didn't notice as mold and rust developed on large pieces. (We were usually opening the unit to add small boxes as we accumulated new things we wanted to store until our new construction was done.) The construction just finished and we were excited to set it up for immediate occupancy to rent out, but will not be able to do so because we will now have to replace and/or clean almost every large item that we stored. An entire antique family heirloom bedroom set with a mirrored vanity is covered in mold. (pics attached) A mattress that was in perfect condition when we put it in storage and had only been slept on a couple of times now has rust showing on the sides where the springs are touching the fabric. A stainless steel prep table shelf and the legs of an EZ Up Pop up tent were covered in rust. At first glance, it looks like there is thousands of dollars of damage. In looking over our lease and insurance, I see that it says that mold (and many other things--such as the rodent problems another reviewer mentioned) are not covered by insurance. And the climate controlled section says: "These spaces do not provide constant internal temperature or humidity control. OWNER does not warrant or guarantee temperature or humidity ranges in the Space due to changes in outside temperature and humidity." They should not call them "climate control" units because they most definitely are not. We could have saved ourselves thousands of dollars and just thrown everything away instead of putting anything into this storage unit.

They moved quickly to make sure that the time was utilized wisely. They were very friendly and courteous and polite. We had them pick up some furniture from a store warehouse on the way to the new apartment. They loaded up the furniture from that other place quickly and moved right along to the final destination. They worked really well together as a team. They were in constant communication with each other to make sure that they were angling things properly and keeping them secured. The price was reasonable for all of the work that they did. We really appreciate the effort and hard work they put into this move. Would definitely recommend them in the future.

They also make me feel safe here coming & going. If I email questions I get a very quick reply. I had a door issue they were quick to respond and address. I like the code to get in & out so I can come and go as I need to. I chose a non climate control unit, because I need drive up access. Otherwise I think I would suggest you get one with climate control for your own comfort if you will be in & out. Not an issue with the facility, just a suggestion in general. It is a little pricey, and you need to have insurance on your items. It was easier to just use theirs, so that is what I did, no issues thus far. A few things to note that I was not aware of- There is nowhere to toss regular trash, I have to take it with me. They have a dumpster you can use but there is a monthly fee and it wouldn't be worth it unless you had a lot of trash to dispose of each month and I do not. They did offer to assist if I had a box or something as a one off which was very nice of them. The other thing that surprised me was it costs more to have extended hours access. I do not recall how much it was because the regular access hours are early enough and late enough for my needs so I think you'd only need it if you come really early or return really late.
