Be careful in choosing this company as their attention to detail and caring of your property is mismanaged. They didn't wrap items in blankets to protect them and just stacked items on and under one another. This was a 9 mile move.....No accountability for broken items, damage to move out home property and overall service. Giving two stars is generous at this point as we've yet to receive settle up payment for damaged goods during move. Majorly scratched the driveway from moving trucks which nearly killed the deal of selling the home at the closing table. Learn from my mistakes and go with a more reputable company. read more

Last Summer we had our hardware floors refinished due to water damage. Motivated Movers representative was very nice and personable. However, during the move they did damage to some our our furniture which we are still finding damage to certain prices. they damaged our new refrigerator and the owner of the company took photos and said they would send someone out to replace one of the front panels. We're still waiting on that promise months later. They make a lot of promises but don't follow up to fix problems. I noticed their workers were careless with items being moved. I just happened to catch them dragging our expensive mattress across the rough concrete driveway. They lost our remote for the bed. only after much prodding did they finally replace it, I would not use this company ever again!!! read more

They did a fair job with the move, but I later found out that this company's state license was revoked and they are uninsured. This means that any property protection you purchase is a complete waste of money, and if your property is damaged you will be SOL. After reading Kevin's response to my review it seems that you can add deliberate deception to their list of poor business practices. Sergeant Jones provided the verification that AMC Transport, Inc. dba Motivated Movers' household goods carrier license was revoked when their liability insurance carrier cancelled their policy. Their DPS HHG ID number is 501051. If I remember correctly, it was cancelled in 2020 or 2021, and Kevin acknowledged this to me personally when I raised the issue. Note that it is a crime to continue to operate as an HHG carrier in Georgia after your state license has been revoked. I had originally decided to let the matter go because Kevin indicated that they would be getting reinstated immediately, but now it is clear from his response they they intend to continue operating illegally, putting all future customers at risk. This is unacceptable. It took me 6 months to get a paltry settlement to pay for damages, and only after their first check bounced and they threatened to go out of business. I encourage you, as potential purchasers of moving service, to contact the Georgia Department of Public Safety directly to verify whether or not they are currently licensed and insured. Their website does NOT provide current information, as indicated by GA DPS, so you must call them directly and speak with an agent. You can also submit an official Open Records Request. Be diligent or you, too, may fall victim to an unlicensed and uninsured moving company. read more

They broke a custom, expensive sleeper sofa and refuse to properly repair or work with me to cover the cost of the speciality repair technician. NO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - They waste your time and money I had a very simple move from a storage unit in Woodstock to a new home in Lumpkin county. There were no stairs and (with the exception of a washing machine) nothing heavy or oversized. I had moved all of the items but the washer and a bedframe by myself into that storage unit. The day of my move, the two men and a truck arrived on time. The driver smelled like BO, but I tried to shake that off. He was also a bit curt with me about the paperwork, the move, etc... I felt like he had a chip on his shoulder that I didn't really understand. We all have lives- whatever, right? So, I got a call from a service provider that needed me at the new address for an install. I asked the driver "Do I need to stay and supervise?" He said no, everything should be fine. -ok- 4 HOURS LATER, I call this man. I'm thinking he's probably about to arrive, or he got completely lost somehow- I couldn't imagine the loading process taking more than 90 minutes unless you were jerking around the whole time. THIS MAN TOLD ME THEY WERE STILL AT THE STORAGE UNIT. Then he tells me that the other guy isn't helping him, but they were supposed to have someone else and that guy quit that morning, or some BS... So I wait, and I wait, and at $139 / hr. I'm mad, but what could I do? They have my stuff. They finally arrive. One guy is folding blankets the whole time, practically, while the other guy moves one box at a time. For real. Not trying to use a dolly and get the job done. Like it was intentional- AND STILL it only took about an hour to unload. Then I had to pay $1100 for the crappy horrible- NEVER WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY, service. Disappointed and shocked for 190$ an hour they did not wrap my headboard that has glass, dresser (that they stated they would) decorative chairs, and other few pieces of furniture with stretch wrap. Ive never had a professional mover not wrap these items. I was moving my pieces in storage and just hope nothing is damaged. I choose 3 movers to make my small move faster. Big mistake, still took 4 hours to move several boxes (about 20) and 1 bedroom from Kennesaw to Mableton into a 10x10 storage. 1 day before my scheduled move they call and tell me there's an additional drive fee of $190. This was not disclosed when reserved. Only told 190$ hour for 3 movers. I asked was fee additional to hourly rate, and it was explained then and upon arrival that the fee was for travel time from my house to the storage but I would not be charged the hourly rate on top of the drive fee. Long story short the drive from Kennesaw to Mableton took hour, they charged me $190 for that hour and an additional trip fee. Be aware There's a credit card fee 30$ Trip fee $ 150 to 190$ Plus the hourly rate 1 bedroom apartment will take 4 hours to move with 3 movers. Plan to pay an additional 300$ on a small move. Response: Kevin I would never hire motivated movers again! Or recommend you. Please publish the calls! And there was only a bed, dresser, and washer, dryer on the upper floor. All the other items were in the garage. And when I got back to the town house I noticed the hall light was out, from one of the movers hitting the light and breaking it. You would not believe the treatment we have received from this company. I cannot believe they treat people this way. Truly awful! Motivated Movers CHANGED CONTRACT AFTER SIGNING. DAMAGED THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF ITEMS. IGNORED COURT ORDER FOR REIMBURSEMENT. The Owner, Jeff, came out and gave us two quotes - one to pack and move us into storage before we sold our home, and another to move us out of storage and into our new home once it was built. He was friendly and professional and we had a really good initial experience. HOWEVER, all this changed during the second move. They had quoted us a flat rate of $900, but after we signed the contract they changed the amount to over $4,000! Then they damaged our brand new walls and door, they were careless with our possessions - damaging high end nightstands, dressers, desks with deep gouges, they broke hardware & decorations, broke a paper shredder and DVD player, dented our freezer door - THOUSANDS of dollars of damages. Jeff was NOT present during all of this and his movers admitted to both CHANGING the Contract and DAMAGING our things, but assured us Jeff would make it right. We had them take pictures of everything and asked them to show Jeff. The next morning my husband emailed Motivated Movers our own pictures of the DAMAGES. He called and asked Jeff to sort this all out. Instead, Jeff REFUSED, said he under quoted us and filed a lawsuit against us within days of the move. Of course we filed a countersuit and the judge ordered them to pay us for the damages. Since then we have made multiple phone calls to their office and sent several emails - all of which have been ignored. We are now having to petition the Court to hold them in contempt and utilizing the internet and social media to warn others about the treatment we have received. read more

I had a plastic bin labeled fragile that held my grandmother's China. They stacked something very heavy on top and it crushed the lid. read more

I hired three movers to ensure a quick move out of a 2 bedroom apartment with a one car garage to the building next to me. It took them 7.5 hours! Such a move should have not taken more than 3-4 hours considering I had moved all clothing, kitchen, bath and other items. They showed up in their truck blasting inappropriate rap music. They did not have the paperwork I needed to sign or any tools. They wanted me to sign a blank piece of paper stating I received the documents! I I had to provide them with the tools. They spent their time talking, complaining, laying on the floor and watching the other mover work and excessively long bathroom breaks. They had no idea of how to take apart a Pottery Barn desk that I had the instructions for and provided to them. While this performance was not acceptable, the behavior of Kevin the manager was equally appalling. He told me he had to research my concerns. He did not call me back as he committed. When I called him, he appeared to have no idea who I was. He called me back an hour later and told me that they were in the wrong. He offered to provide 1.5 hours in compensation. Weeks later, I have not received the paperwork or any compensation. Kevin is not responding. As I have put things away, I have found multiple items with damage. Please be advised that there is a very good chance you may get an UNMOTIVATED crew. Manager is not responsive. Although he admitted fault on the part of his crew, he has yet to try and settle with me. Rather, he inferred that I was upset over the music and swearing due to my age, and the drivers being young. While we were very happy with each member of the moving team - I AM NOT HAPPY that my almost brand new dining table was gouged, scraped & knicked....not once....but a few times during the move. ALL OVER THE TOP OF THE TABLE. Come on guys....there is no excuse for this! Not one! This table has been used ONCE for a family dinner. Once. Though it's a few years old - it sat in an unused dining room in a brand new, used ONCE condition - until this move. Of ALL things, you'd think a dining set that cost thousands would be wrapped & taken care of properly during a move....especially the top of it!! No. It was not. What makes it worse is that while they were moving it out of the truck they knew it. They saw the scrapes & scratches and a few guys even got together & looked at it!! I hired them for just loading/unloading, mostly because I had a desk that I couldn't move alone, and a bed that I needed help taking apart and reassembling. The movers were so incredibly slow, they broke my desk and tried to blame it on me - at least they managed to put it back together again in my new house, though I probably can't ever move it again or it will just fall apart. On the recommendation of a friend, I used Motivated Movers for moving from Woodstock to Marietta. The first part of the move seemed to go okay. The men were polite and seemed very attentive. I'd been assured we were fine in the size of the truck, but we still left a lot at the old house. Things went wrong at the new house. The guys failed to correctly reassemble furniture (that they'd disassembled). Every floor lamp arrived with missing parts. They left numerous items still wrapped in the moving blankets, which I still have. Also keep in mind that Motivated Movers does not take checks and charges an extra 3% if you use a debit card -- they prefer to take the money and run. If you need to book last minute movers fast, Motivated Movers is undoubtedly the company for you. HOWEVER, if you value any of your furniture, hold any sentimental feelings towards your items, or wish for holes to not be put in the walls of your new and old home, Motivated Movers is the worst moving company to hire! It's been 2 weeks since they assisted my family, and we are still finding knicks, dings, and scratches on our furniture. The booking process was fast and the movers were friendly and professional, but that's where the praise ends. We were told we hired 3 movers for the first half of the morning and another 3 would arrive if we needed between 1-3pm. We forewarned the company that we needed assistance moving most of our furniture into storage pods because we were downsizing. The pods were in the driveway. The rest of the furniture would be put on their moving truck and if needed we also rented a UHAUL for our personal use. We spent weeks wrapping our furniture in plastic to hold against the elements and good thing we did. If we had not, our furniture would be further damaged. The crew did not use any of the dozens of moving blankets they had. They moved our furniture by hand with no further protection and then proceeded to place heavy objects on top of each other, which resulted in damage to most if not all our furniture. It seems as though they carelessly threw each item on the moving trucks. The most infuriating discovery was going to our new home and seeing multiple holes in the walls. Another was the damage done to our new Samsung washer and dryer purchased this year (2021) in February. Under a year old and the dryer looks as though someone took a sledgehammer to it. We have no idea how that could've happened, unless heavy items were dropped on it during transport. The appliances no longer runs the same, so that's a $3,000+ purchase ruined in hours. We were under no illusion that our furniture was heavy and required a lot of manpower and use of equipment. We even asked if items were too heavy to be moved twice because they could be placed in storage if too heavy. The movers moved most items by hand instead of using the hand truck dollies at their disposal. This resulted in the movers overextending themselves and growing tired quickly. When asked why they weren't using the hand truck and other equipment that are designed to make moving heavy items easier, they said their manager Kevin doesn't like it and encourages them not to use it. So big thanks to Kevin. All of our furniture is damaged because of your ill advised direction. On top of the furniture in our new home, we do not know how the furniture in storage fairs at the tired hands of these movers. Now onto the second crew, they didn't arrive until after 6 pm because they worked two other moves that day. They got there just in time to unload the company's moving truck and nothing else. Unbeknownst to us, the first crew loaded our personal UHAUL to the brim while leaving heaps of room in their truck. We believe they did this so they would only be responsible for the items on their truck at the end of day. It took us days to unload the UHAUL, compared to their hour and a half of unloading. Looking at our furniture and how exhausted the second crew (even the first crew honestly) it's safe to say Motivated Movers overworks and overextendeds their workers. As a result, the work these movers do is horrible. There is no reason movers, handling strangers furniture who used their hard earned money to buy, should arrive exhausted from previous jobs that same day. It's a perfect recipe for disaster, which is exactly what we got. Overall Motivated Movers put more stress on an already stressful move. My family and I cannot be more disappointed and frustrated with their performance. Take time to vet moving companies, we did not and we regret it. I can't begin to total the amount of damage done to our furniture and home(s) alike, but it's easily over $5,000. read more

One guy quit and didn't work most of the day, they still made us pay full for three guys. They fought and used foul language in front of my daughter. They said all the damages would be taken care, ignored us for months. Lied about when it was turned over to their insurance. We got one call from their insurance months later and we sent pictures and all the info to them and they will now not contact us and return our calls. Never, ever have we had a worse experience. Not happy with this company. Three months since our move and have yet to have items repaired that they said they will repair. Keep getting told they passed it to their insurance and I've called just about weekly for three months. One worker quit in the middle of lifting a heavy piece of furniture and caused damage to every hardwood stair, landing, walls and window sill. They rolled their hand truck into our front door frame causing damage and haven't offered a fix for it yet. Hardwoods from the front door into two rooms and to the stairs are scratched from the hand truck. The only item that has been fixed was the damage to the drywall which I did myself and painted. They tracked mud across a carpeted room and I was told to just get some resolve cleaner and it would come up. Found one worker sitting in the garage then in the truck cause he didn't want to move anymore furniture. Tons of profanity used during the move because the guy stopped helping. Got to a point where I started moving items myself and with the other two guys. We moved a year prior and my 68 year old father and I move all the same furniture without causing any damage. We contacted Motivated Movers on a recommendation from a friend and were not disappointed. These guys were awesome! Although unforeseen scheduling issues caused our original move date to be moved from a Saturday afternoon to Monday morning, Jeff at the office and the crew that helped us move from our 3rd floor condo to our new town home were great. Chris, Darren and Ackey were cheerful and courteous when they arrived. They had our stuff broken down, wrapped and packed in an hour. At the new house things went equally as smooth as they unloaded furniture and negotiated tight stairs. The guys were efficient and hard working and got our move done in two hours. I dreaded the move, but Chris, Darren and Ackey made it a great experience. I definitely recommend Motivated Movers and will surely be contacting them again. read more

My family and I just moved on the 11th of July, and picked Motivated Movers since they had great reviews. I have since regretted my decision. The day of the move we were scheduled to start between 9 and 10 am. At 1030 I received a call informing me that they were running a little behind. At 1045 the moving crew shows up in an unmarked truck saying they had been having power steering issues the past 3 days with the normal truck, and decided to get it fixed today. The next few hours went by quickly, and the crew was great. We had hired them to just move the heavier items like dressers and tables, so it surprised me when they asked if I wanted our 50" TV moved as well. I asked if they had a TV box for it, but they didn't. I was told "dont worry we'll wrap it up really well, and we'll take care of you." I figured why not, they seem professional. Fast forward about 3 hours, and the move is almost complete. Everything is in our new house and we're excited to start arranging everything. My wife brings to my attention that there is an issue with my L desk in my office. It had been moved in about 8 separate pieces, and one of them had 4 cam bolts and screws literally torn out the back side. We brought this to the attention of the lead crew member and he said we needed to call Jeff. Jeff (owner?) informed us that they didn't cover damage to particle board or pressed wood furniture, even though the insurance paperwork made no mention of this. Apparently this fact is mentioned in your confirmation notice, which was sent the day you make an appointment, and not on the legal document you sign about your insurance coverage. Apparently Jeff was very busy at the moment, but wanted to speak to me personally. The crew member said to expect a call within 24 hours to discuss our issue with Jeff in person. Since then we've had no communication from anyone. We have also found a 1" scratch on our TV that we should have known better than to let them move. The kicker, and last straw for me, was when our bed fell apart last night. We have a king size 100% latex bed that has a heavy duty frame... and it was assembled incorrectly. So badly in fact that with a loud "pop" in the middle of the night, the whole thing collapsed. So to sum up for everyone.... Avoid these guys. The crew is very nice, but they damaged furniture, our big screen TV, and our bed. And we can't get Jeff the owner to even call us back. I personally will never use them again, and I wouldn't suggest anyone else to do so either. read more

After filing BBB complaints, Yelp reviews, Angie's List reviews, and then finally filing a lawsuit against this ridiculous company I did receive a phone call from Jeff Hollingsworth. Jeff Hollingsworth said they would finally, almost a year after our move date, reimburse us for the damaged couch. It took an additional 3 weeks and several phone calls to then get the check. To top this whole experience off, the check from Jeff Hollingsworth and Motivated Movers BOUNCED due to insufficient funds when I deposited it. I have now made several phone calls trying to contact Jeff Hollingsworth who is always "unavailable" or "out of the office". I am continuing my lawsuit in Cherokee County, GA. Motivated Movers were AMAZING! I am pretty strong and these guys were straight beasts. I interviewed several companies and decided to use Motivated Movers in Woodstock because if their good reviews. I have many breakables and high end antiques and I was moving out of state. They came to my house twice before the move to go over everything. I was promised and reassured that every piece would be wrapped in moving quilts and shrink wrapped before leaving the house. The day of the move they desended like a hoard of locus jerking up everything in their path. There were people in every room going in and out of the house. It made it impossible to stay on top of what was happening. Before I knew what wS happening, they had moved my antique china cabinet with curved glass front and sides without putting a quilt on it, only thin wrap of shrink wrap. The ran it straight into a corner post shattering the glass. In the process of moving my 8' antique grand piano, they carved out deep gashes in the antique hardwood floors. They also scratched the new hardwood floors in my new home. A week after the move, the doors on my antique armoire fell off in the middle of the night because they had not put the screws in properly when they reassembled it. In addition, they broke a large antique beveled glass mirror. There were several legs broken off of things as well as numerous broken pottery and glass wear. These are only the things I know about so far as many items are still in storage. Jeff of Motivated Movers did send someone to fix the floor at the old house. He offered me $130 for my broken items. The china cabinet alone was $800. After I sent him copy of the receipt and told him everything that has been broken, I have not heard another word from him or seen any sign of payment. I have pictures and witnesses to everything I have said here. I never leave negative feedback but I am heart sick over this situation. Be aware of what you are dealing with as this has turned into a horrible nightmare. I will be sharing my experience every chance I get to help warn others of this company. Accidents can always happen but gross negligence is preventable and should have been. Not responding to what they did is unacceptable. read more
