Chicken Breaded Chicken Cutlet Parmigiana
Cheyenne T.

I always want to support local business so maybe I'll come back and give their breakfast food another shot. The dinner food was not great. All the dishes were bland and a little dry. The service was friendly but the waitress didn't seem knowledgeable about the menu. She had to come back multiple times to get our choices on the sides that came with the dishes. The guy waiter was much more knowledgeable. The seating area is cozy and nostalgic but the biggest table was quite a tight squeeze for 5 people.

Clam chowder

I usually pass by here as it is near my gym. They always have specials going on, Wednesday they have lunch specials with salad platters, sandwiches, and pastas. The waitress was quick. The place just looks like an average diner. I ordered the chicken parmigiana with spaghetti and Clam chowder. The chowder was creamy and thick but it didn't stand out very much. The chicken parmigiana was alright at best. The chicken could have had more seasoning and I think the cheese felt overwhelming. The pasta was cooked fine. It came out to around 24 dollars without tip. I think the portions were pretty big, but you can find better.

The food that I ordered (Pancakes, scrambled eggs, & sausage) was delicious, I never had a good breakfast since I was in Europe. The service was well greeted and felt welcomed by the waitress name Vanessa. The bathroom is clean! In fact, there's two bathrooms, but I don't know the woman's bathroom is clean. Yes the place is clean, their staff are well dressed like it reminds me of a flight attendants..

Stop Inn Omelette ($18.35)

As one of the true cornerstones of Woodside eateries, Stop Inn has remained one of the most well known establishments in the area. Being smack dab near the train has its advantages as well as the fact they serve items that most diners don't have. However, in the near decade since my initial review, a lot has changed. That said, the food is still stellar. Most things are so good here that I think one could order anything and get a pretty good meal. I'll forever hold them in high regard since they serve hash browns, which even in 2020 is not a popular item at all in NYC. Their burgers are thick, juicy, and quite underrated in my opinion. They used to only deliver in a 4 block radius but are now delivering far beyond it and are available for online delivery. This is a likely result of the pandemic, which for non-Woodside living fans is a huge silver lining. The delivery is still fast and they've done a good job getting food out to folks. The reason for my downgrade in stardom is for two key reasons: service and price. Service was once one of their best attributes as the staff was energetic, efficient, and enthusiastic. Now, they're a tad harsher on the phone and a little less friendly than before. I still appreciate the nearly all Mexican staff busting their butts to get things going, but not so big on the 'tude as of late. Regarding the prices, it's become astronomical. I understand Woodside is gentrifying, but are folks willing to pay for a $18.40 omelette? The hash brown sides are $7 now and burgers are nearly $11 and that's without fries. When did a grilled chicken salad cost $18.35? An Irish breakfast is $21 now. The monte cristo sandwich is nearly $17 and eggs florentine is close to $16 now. Even a pesto pasta is $22 at this point. I hope they stick around of course, but I've been somewhat priced out as a customer.

Western Omelette with bacon

Server was nice but this food is not worth the over value. Server did not charge me for the bacon I asked for on the omelettes so when she came back with another check for $9.20 and brought the bill to $65 is actually ridiculous. I was okay paying 66 WITH tip, but to really pay almost $80 for two western omelettes with bacon and a stack of pancakes is abhorrent. How do you expect anyone to come back? And no toast with my order?! What kind of establishment are you running? You need to take a look at other diners in the area and figure out how to do better. DONT COME HERE!!

Two eggs over easy with bacon. Crispy home fries

This is the neighborhood diner that I go to occasionally for breakfast. The diner has booth seating and a long counter with stools. It has that classic diner feel and design. I only order one thing on the menu and that's the two eggs any style with either bacon or sausage. I always ask for the home fries to be crispy. I also normally order a cup of hot coffee, which I think they refill it up to three times. The order comes with a small stack of toast on the side and I eat that with the small jam and butter packets they serve along with it. My friend likes to order the freshly squeezed orange juice. She says it's pretty refreshing. I am pretty fond of this place. It's close, convenient and pretty consistent with my order. No doubt there are cheaper breakfasts served elsewhere, but I still like to come here occasionally. One thing that's weird about this place is the tipping protocol for those that pay by card. You have to go up to the cashier and tell them how much you want to tip instead of getting the receipt and writing it down yourself. So heads up on that. If you live close by, you're craving breakfast, and you don't want to go so far, I recommend coming here.

I've been coming here for years, but they keep increasing the prices! Even so, I continue visiting because it's conveniently close to the 61st Woodside train station and the portion is large and the food is pretty good. I would always order bacon and cheese omelet with toast and fries on the side. The portions are ginormous and I always have leftovers. The food is always out quickly as well. They also offer free refills on teas and hot coffee. The booth seats are comfortable, I always get one of the two booths closest to the door. The staff is really nice and accommodating -most of the time; sometimes the staff is too busy talking. The food is delicious, but I kind of love diner food in general. Tl;dr - good diner food; (some) bit pricey

Coffee

Classic NYC diner. Absolutely classic. Ordered 2 eggs, bacon, fries, OJ, coffee and they were up like a flash-- I was almost not ready for my food. My waiter had an extra napkin to me literally just as I thought of it. Classic booths with table Formica worn from years of use. Food is served on those huge platter style classic diner plates. The music... cool jazz. Muffins and croissants are under cake covers, displayed along the counter. OJ is fresh squeezed. Coffee perfect strength. No need to ask for ketchup or hot sauce; each table has every kind of Cholula and Tobasco. Perfecto! Exactly what I needed. Not doing five stars because you can't really give a diner five--it isn't Jean Georges. But it's perfect for what it is!

If you can get passed the outrageous prices, the food is decent. I particularly like their soups.

I could tell he's a father!! We were a party of 8, celebrating 2 birthdays in the family, and they brought out the desserts with candles and sang. It was so special!!! The food was INCREDIBLE! I ordered shrimp cocktail appetizer and the entree from the specials menu. It was lamb shoulder franchisee. INCREDIBLE! My Mom had eggplant parmigiana- nice generous portion. One brother had trout, pasta. There was a lot of sharing and I don't even know all of the dishes. Forgot to mention the shrimp was HUGE. Fries looked perfect. The decor , vibe, ambiance-- loved . There were kid activities by our table. Large table with window view. Beautiful plants all around. They have a bar too. HIGHLY recommend The Queensboro!!!

My husband chose The Queensboro to celebrate his birthday with a brunch alongside my grandparents,…read moreand it felt like a great chance to revisit a spot we'd previously enjoyed for lunch and dinner. Food: 3.5/5 We made it a point to try a range of brunch options. My grandfather ordered the sweet potato and chorizo hash, I went with the two-egg combo with pork sausage (eggs over easy), and my husband chose the Moroccan eggs. Overall, the food was good and flavorful, especially if you enjoy dishes with a bit more nuance and influence from Spanish or Mexican flavors. That said, as someone who leans more toward classic American diner-style brunch, it didn't fully hit that nostalgic spot for me. It's not that anything was bad--it just wasn't the most memorable brunch I've had. Still, it was nice to explore a different side of their menu beyond the burgers, fries, and pasta we'd tried before. Service: 4/5 The staff were genuinely kind and welcoming, which made the experience pleasant. However, they do rely on a QR code-style menu, which can be a bit of a learning curve--especially for those who prefer a more traditional ordering experience. During the brunch rush, things definitely got busy and a bit overwhelmed, so service slowed down slightly. One tip: if you already know what you want, it's best to order everything upfront to avoid delays. Vibe: 3.5/5 Like many New York spots, space is tight. Even as a party of four, we were seated at a small square table, which could be challenging if you have strollers or extra belongings. That said, the space still feels cozy and neighborhood-friendly--great for a casual brunch, just not the most spacious. All in all, It's a solid neighborhood brunch spot with interesting, flavor-forward dishes and kind service. I wouldn't call it my top brunch destination, but I'd come back if I were in the area--especially if I was craving something a little different from the usual diner fare.
