Stop&Shop Supermarket of Walpole -- 565 Main Street / Route 1A, Walpole            Interior

It's been four years since my last review of this place. Time for an update (especially considering nearly ALL of the employees referenced in the previous review have gotten transferred, retired, or left!) This store is still my number one in terms of convenience and aesthetics. The managers here are great; Jessica, Rich, and Winslow are all especially friendly, kind, and helpful. They really care about their customers and care about customer satisfaction. This store has immensely improved in terms of price accuracy and facilities. The store was renovated years ago and still looks great. It's better than other locations since it is has better amenities including a dedicated parking lot, skylights, twenty five aisles, Click and Collect, Citizens Bank, and a dedicated traffic light at the exit where you can turn right or LEFT (if you have been on NorwoodNow on Facebook, you'd get the joke regarding turning left out of the Norwood Stop&Shop). Store is consistently fully stocked and organized. Scan-It guns available, nine self checkout registers, and of course, the brand new Marty robot. He roams the store and assures customers that the store is secure and reports spills. While many are controversial about the robot, I don't really have a problem as long as it isn't going to take away jobs. Beyond the managers, other staff here like Mary-Ellen and Karen are fabulous. They go above and beyond to get to know their customers and maintain great relationships with them. 5 stars. Highly suggest this store. I'm lucky enough for it to be my local.... in comparison to any other Stop&Shop, I have yet to find more than a few that can compare to this one.

It doesn't have the square footage that Northborough has. But it has everything you need to get the proper Wegs experience. This location is still rather large, especially for a supermarket. You can find an extensive cheese department, along with wines and beers. Like most Wegs, you'll find that the essentials are quite affordable. Even organics are decently priced. You'll run into a little trouble with prepared foods if you're on a budget, though. At one point, their hot food bar was more pricey that Whole Foods. The dining section is clean and well-lighted. It's a decent place to meet up. Service is generally friendly here though I don't really need to seek out help, other than at the check-out counter or customer service. Usually though experiences have been positive. The major advantage is that Wegs is open until midnight, which is great for those that want a less crowded shopping experience (clutch during the pandemic).

I called to confirm specifics on the cake design, and submitted two weeks in advance. 24 hours before pickup time, I received a confirmation email/reminder to pick up the cake. 12 hours before pickup, at 9PM, I received a call saying they could not make the cake design, and cited a copy right issue. Wegmans had no response to me asking why I was informed so late, and no response to me that I previously called to confirm they could do this cake. Honestly, leaving me to try to fix my 6 year olds birthday cake for his party with less than 10 hours before the party should be zero stars...

She reluctantly provided the $20's as she told me that this was not a bank. Who says anything like that to a customer that has just spent over $300 in the store? They need to train their staff. Completely unacceptable.

Peggy had a bad day"…read more I'm honestly disappointed. Usually my experiences at Aldi is always a pleasant one. Almost to the point where I've said "thank you for being so nice" to a cashier that normally works there, it's just unfortunate that today was not the case. I had maybe 6 items which I already had a bag for so I didn't bother to grab a cart that I'd normally do when I'd come to shop. I put my items down and the cashier at the register said " Peggy is is about to open you can head over there. I get it, she was probably about to leave for the day or whatever but I did what I was told and placed my items on the next runway It was OBVIOUS that Peggy was already having a bad day so as she came to the register I smiled and said "thank you" Peggy then started tapping her hand and and firmly said "next time if you needed money for a cart we have it right here!!" I apologized and said " well I only have a few things and thought that it would not be a problem " Guess I was wrong because she then said with the same tone "well when you don't have a carriage it slows me down!!" I looked over at the next customer and she had a FULL cart of items so the next transaction was going to take a little more time than my 6 items which she jammed into the bag I had. But she wasn't done, after telling me my total she blurted out " you see how expensive things get?!?! " I just said thanks and told her to have a better day and left I'm coming off of a 10 hour shift and still needed to head home and cook for my family. I didn't need her attitude whatsoever. I can guarantee that if the tables were turned and it was me I probably wouldn't have a job any longer. I wanted to call and ask to speak with a manager but I felt that this would work just as well. Hope you had a better day Peggy, take care. Praying that my next experience at Aldis is better than this

The good: They have some decent cuts of meat that are tough to find at other grocery stores…read more The Bad: This store seems to be extremely overpriced compared to others. It's really that bad. We go if we need some steaks only because other stores are shaving their steaks down to slivers. But it'll cost ya. The produce is really bad, usually old and rubbery. Go to Market Basket for better produce. Usually if we are making a steak dinner we buy all the ingredients at Market Basket and then come here to buy the steak. Everything here is about 10 to 20 percent higher cost. And it's obvious, the place is usually empty, you'll never see a lot of customers in this store.

Stopped into the Big Y in Franklin on Friday night around 5 PM looking for a quick, easy dinner…read more Headed straight to the prepared foods section and ordered the Beef & Blue panini along with an Italian sub. The sandwich looked and smelled great, but things went a little sideways. They were out of blue cheese for the panini, which happens -- no big deal. I even offered to grab a package from the cheese section myself, but was told that wasn't allowed. So American cheese it was. The real disappointment was the Italian. The salami still had the casing (skin) on it, and it was completely unchewable. I ended up having to peel it off slice by slice, which totally killed the experience. Nothing ruins a good-looking sandwich faster than fighting it just to take a bite. I'm sure I'll be back -- Big Y is usually solid -- but maybe not during the dinner rush. Attention to small details like this really matters. Big Y, do better.
