I have been to the Stop & Shop in Walpole, Massachusetts. The store is very clean and the aisles are wide. My main grip is that the items on the bottom shelves are so low. They are right down by the floor. Unless you pull up each item that you might be interested in you can't see what there is. Going down that low as a senior citizen I am afraid of falling. I don't know of any other market in the area that has the items in shelves that low. Sometimes the items on sale are not available. My recent experience was an item in the seafood department that was not in the case, and there was only one employee for meat and seafood. He was in the back and there was no way to contact him. He came out and he took a bit to get his attention. However, I will continue to shop at this at this market as well as big Y and Walmart read more

I am really sad to say that this store is going down hill for customer service. I just called the store stating that I paid $45 for a large cut of meat, apparently the sale price never came through at the $30 sale price. The young man I spoke to on the phone sounded like he was in training because he had to defer to someone else in ear shot, I was told that I can come in and get refunded the difference but he never apologized for the inconvenience, just that little bit of empathy would have gone a long way at least with me. Even when you are about to hang up, he could've said have a nice day, but nothing except a "bye". Not even a Good-bye!!! I feel bad having to post this but after ringing up and bagging my own groceries, I think a little courtesy isn't too much to ask for. read more

Every time I come in lady stands over me and watches me scan so curious as to why, my skin tone probably gives them assumptions and I'm the morning there is NEVER any check out open I have to Always ask is someone going to ring or can you open a register . Stop & Shop - Stop and shop - Grocery Near Me - Walpole, Massachusetts

It's been four years since my last review of this place. Time for an update (especially considering nearly ALL of the employees referenced in the previous review have gotten transferred, retired, or left!) This store is still my number one in terms of convenience and aesthetics. The managers here are great; Jessica, Rich, and Winslow are all especially friendly, kind, and helpful. They really care about their customers and care about customer satisfaction. This store has immensely improved in terms of price accuracy and facilities. The store was renovated years ago and still looks great. It's better than other locations since it is has better amenities including a dedicated parking lot, skylights, twenty five aisles, Click and Collect, Citizens Bank, and a dedicated traffic light at the exit where you can turn right or LEFT (if you have been on NorwoodNow on Facebook, you'd get the joke regarding turning left out of the Norwood Stop&Shop). Store is consistently fully stocked and organized. Scan-It guns available, nine self checkout registers, and of course, the brand new Marty robot. He roams the store and assures customers that the store is secure and reports spills. While many are controversial about the robot, I don't really have a problem as long as it isn't going to take away jobs. Beyond the managers, other staff here like Mary-Ellen and Karen are fabulous. They go above and beyond to get to know their customers and maintain great relationships with them. 5 stars. Highly suggest this store. I'm lucky enough for it to be my local.... in comparison to any other Stop&Shop, I have yet to find more than a few that can compare to this one. read more

I have been shopping at this location for 30 years (as a Walpole resident). Mike Healey (many years ago) was an excellent Manager, employees were happy and the store was clean. I don't know who the Manager is now, but the employees are miserable to the point of being rude (especially in deli and butcher shop). Store is horrible, prices are more than Norwood, Foxboro and Mansfield. I bought an item yesterday that was 6.29. I needed more today and went to Mansfield, same exact item was 4.79 (no sale). Another item we buy is 13.99 here and at Big Y in Walpole the same item is 8.99. I will never go back to Walpole location to pay top dollar for everything and at the same time deal with rude employees that have been there forever. If people are this unhappy, it is time for them to retire. Over-priced and rude employees (not all). Managers should be training their employees on Customer Service. I would say that I was like a kid in a candy store but I'm not really sure that applies when you are talking about the complete opposite of candy. Their produce department is aMAZing! I don't know if I've been going to produce places that suck all this time or if this place is just super special. All I know is that I don't think I've ever seen that variety of produce anywhere else. Whole celery root? Wide variety of fresh herbs? Tons of organic options? Oh yeah! Even the weirdest stuff looked fresh and delicious, too. Not old like it had been sitting around for ages. Everything was so vibrantly colorful and tasty looking. I was in awe. Then I saw their cheese display. Oh my! So many amazing cheeses! This place is my parents' go-to grocery joint. I always thought that my parents lived in the middle of nowhere. Who knew this little gem was hiding there all along. Well, actually, I've heard that they just renovated. Whatever, I love it. It looked like they had the rest of the usual grocery store stuff too. Who the hell knows, I was too busy gazing at the produce and cheese. I can't wait for my next visit to my parents' place. Hopefully my mom will forget an ingredient so I can make a run! read more

Figures after a phenomenal experience at the Stop & Shop in Attleboro that I reviewed on a few years back, I come here to buy a gift card for my parents so I couldn't use the self-checkout lanes and the cashier at the one register open leaves it unattended for something that she didn't have to do, not related to what her job entails and I'm in line for 5-10 minutes waiting for her to return, that's the amount of time it usually takes me to shop at any store. No thanks, will shop elsewhere from here on out. read more

This S & S and I got off to a REALLY bad start, but I am having much better feelings about it: earlier this year, I was waiting in (really long) line at the deli and watched as one of the guys brought over a huge tub of pasta salad (no gloves on), plopped it down into the deli case, dropped the spoons, and then fished around in all of the food area to retrieve the spoons (still no gloves). Line was still going nowhere and the deli manager was gossiping with another employee behind the specialty cheese counter. Anyhow, we worked that all out and things are better now. I just DO NOT go to the deli area, and would watch and make sure that everyone has their gloves on if I were you. So, moving on: the REST OF THE STORE (ahem) is clean, organized, there always seems to be people around if you need something, and - best of all - the self checkout lanes actually WORK. Other stores seem to have continual problems with them (the Norwood store being the closest) and don't seem to have the upgraded check-out screens that Walpole does. Bonus this month was the guy stocking the dairy aisle two days before Christmas in a Santa suit. read more

Is it me or is there ALWAYS a problem with their pickup service?? I've been using this service every week for almost 2 years and almost every week, there's an issue with my order - out of stock items, bad substitutions, over charged, coupons/discounts not applied, bad produce and missing items in my order!! I'd like to believe I save time using this service but it takes me more time to shop my out of stock items, exchange bad substitutions, wait on the phone for a credit for bad produce or an overcharge, or return to store to get the missed bag sitting on the shelf. My friend and I have a running joke of comparing our weekly "war" stories for our pickup. So I no it's not just me but is it everyone else as well? I only shop there because of the gas points and the location. It used to be for the prices as well but their prices have skyrocketed equal to their competitors. I wish we'd get a Market basket or Wegmans around Walpole. read more

Purchased some yogurt on 12/29 and when I got home I looked at the expiration dates....11/7 and 11/15. Almost two months past the expiration date. They took them back and refunded the money without issue. This has been a constant issue at this store....expired food is very common in the dairy aisle. You would think that they would make the necessary changes to improve this issue but it has been this way for 10 years. Produce is meh. Usually lasts 2-3 days. Saw a package of ground beef in the case that was so brown that it looked like it was out for weeks. There are a few great deli workers, but some new ones who don't know what they are doing and don't get a lot of help from their co-workers. The store looked decimated today, with so much product out of stock. Generally find the people who work here lack basic customer service skills. Managers are friendly but they have a hard time keeping their employees motivated and happy it seems. Lots of employees out on the floor chatting and gossiping. With Big Y across town, it's a far superior experience. Prices are higher, but the place always looks clean, well stocked, food is turned over, and the employees are pleasant to deal with. Stop & Shop could learn a few lessons from them. read more

I like this Stop and Shop more than most in the area. First, it is large. All super stop and shops are but this one has quite the footprint. This of course means quite the selection. Second, I do not find it that busy. I was able to be all by myself at a self serve check out at 11 on a Saturday. I have not had that luxury in many other Stop and Shops. Finally I found the self service things to be so much smarter than other stop and shops. The area where you put your groceries is at the front and the ring up is in the middle. Avoids the problem, that I once had at the franklin stop and shop, where you ring up your food it slides down to the end of the contraption you walk down there to bag it and someone tries ringing up their food on your bill because they don't see you there. read more

Rudest customer service ever. The people who stand at the self check-outs are also super rude. The lady called over the manager for no reason on me and caused an unnecessary scene. Also, she did not even speakers English or express her issue. It now takes me twice the time to grab what I need with this new unorganized setup they have. I definitely prefer this supermarket to the Hannaford's down the street, as well as the shaws in Norwood center. It has its own big dedicated parking lot, and it's right off of Route 1A, which makes it very accessible and easy to get to. This supermarket is very well organized, and it is very Aesthetically pleasing from the outside. It welcomes you in here, and makes you want to spend time. I don't necessarily need a fancy supermarket, as I'm here to get food, but it does make me feel better about the time I spend. I've only been here several times, but the employees seem professional and polite, and I have never had one issue. The store seems to run efficiently and professionally, and judging from the organization, the management does a nice job. I am very pleased with the stock in the store, and the products which they choose to keep. There is a very good assortment, and I would say it is a level higher than the aforementioned supermarkets. The prices are a bit higher than the Hannaford's a mile or so down the street, but for certain things, the supermarket is definitely superior. I'm times you don't mind spending a bit more for a better selection and shopping experience. OveralI, I am very pleased with this market, and from time to time when I want something above the norm, I definitely come here. read more

I went to order a birthday cake and when I called the bakery first off ...it took about 10 minutes for them to pick up..kept getting transferred back to the service desk...When I finally got someone on the phone he was so rude and did not speak english and told me point blank he could not do my cake because they need 48hrs..ok so I said can I get a cake on the floor and you right happy birthday on it ...he just gave a huge sigh and was like he was aggravated ..so I said I will go to another stop and shop and I will never go here .... read more
