Popped into stoppies while in Hingham for Traders and Marshalls. Had a craving for some flaming hot ranch Doritos. Haha i know should be eating cleaner but they that good! This location was clean and busy on a Saturday, but it was a smooth in and out process. I noticed they have actual liquor to purchase not just beer, wine and spirits. Checkout was quick and easy, used self checkout. Parking is always easy at any stoppies usually they have a parking lot. read more

Excellent store for grocery shopping. The store is a good size and is well stocked with grocery items plus a bakery department and a full service deli. The bakery items are delicious here and the deli meats and cheeses are of very good quality. Their seafood and meat departments are excellent as well and there is plenty of variety. The fruits and vegetables that they have in the produce department are always fresh. On the weekends it can get pretty busy here but there are usually enough lanes open at the front of the store so that you can get in and out of here very quickly. Self checkout is also an option if you would rather pay that way. It is a comfortable store to shop in with grocery aisles that are wide enough to allow for plenty of customers with shopping carts. This is Stop and Shop at 400 Lincoln Street, the nearest Stop and Shop to me - and the store I really don't like going to. Not as much as I dislike Stop and Shop Cohasset, where the employees are zombies and refuse to speak, but . . . it's very close. The store is clean, the employees will answer random questions and the bakery always smells delicious. One thing drags this store down for me, and that's Nelson the cashier who will not bag. Unfortunately my shopping schedule and his work schedule seem to overlap way too much. he won't bag groceries. He will stand and stare at the items while I bag my groceries when I'm just not going fast enough. Occasionally he'll push the items closer to me so I'll bag faster and get away from his lane. I've stood in line many times while he perfects his act of ignorance on other customers, over and over again. One exasperated day, I said, "Oh no. Am I bagging too slowly? Am I holding YOU up from things?" Nelson just stared disinterestedly. He did tell me to have a nice life when I was leaving . . . and today (when the store is still doing a survey) he actually said "hello" only slightly sarcastically. He knows what he does, it's obvious he's perfected the art of not lifting a finger. I have no doubt the other cashiers, the assistant/store manager, all know what he does to every customer through his lane. Imagine how much better the survey results would be for this store if Nelson wasn't playing his games? read more

Just curious what Stop n Shop Employee Policy is about employee getting a soda from the Fridge and drinking it first without noticing that person paying for it First! If Employees can choose and item off the shelves and enjoy, then my apologies cause I was raised to always pay for your snack or beverage at your employers store. To me, it could show to customers to grab and eat or drink before paying. A slippery slope toward profit losses and stealing. We noticed 7/10/20 at 11:25am at the hingham store Self Check out the Heavy set Gentlemen working the area just helped himself to a beverage from the Fridge at that area. If he paid for it later in the day, then GREAT! But, he forgets to pay for his refreshing cold beverage even though he was feet away from Customer Service, that's Employee Theft. I have been in retail and profit losses from employees are big problem, they usually feel entitled. Well, apologize if I jumped the gun, but with that said,I hate anyone that steals from anyone. I am a very Loyal Stop n Shop Customer!! The store has always been a pleasure to shop, Great employees that are always willing to help or guide. I was at self check out today around 1:36 pm today 04-19-25 at Stop and Shop(400 Lincoln st, Hingham MA02043). When I need a assistant for help, the lady who worked at self checkout service, help everyone around except me.She totally ignored me. Event I ask"excuse me", she still ignored helped somebody near by, but not me. Honestly, I don't know why she behavior like this? Maybe, I am the only Asian at that moment and she doesn't like to help??? I really upset, and I have to moved all my stuff to regular check out instead of self check out. read more

This specific Stop&Shop has GOT to be up on my "favorite Stop&Shop's" list. So clean, HUGE, and has so much that other Stop&Shop's are jealous! In this area, none of the Stop&Shop's really "wowed" me until I came here. This location sits on Lincoln Street (Route 3A), just south of the Weymouth town line. It's right by the Hingham Shipyard Shopping Center, and while it isn't so busy in the evenings, it's insane on the weekends. It has twenty-five aisles (on the larger side for an S&S), with a full "general store" selection. Lots of groceries, and tons of other stuff too. Seasonal, hardware, cleaning supplies, health and beauty, baby items, and lots of other stuff. The other benefit for this specific location is they have an entire three aisles dedicated to beer, wine, and spirits. This could be another reason it gets so busy. The store is consistently organized, and the remodel to this one was just over the top... done well and accurately. This supermarket certainly beats both the Weymouth and Cohasset locations by miles. The staff are all friendly, and self-checkout is open until they close (lots of other S&S locations close Self Checkout earlier than closing time!). Gail, the cash office/service desk associate, and Nick, one of the assistant managers were both very helpful during my recent trip to the store. Huge "Grab&Go" section at the front of the store too. The best and most reasonable place to do your weekly food shopping in Hingham. 5 stars. read more

Store is dirty and has a bad smell when you walk in. Floors are stained and filthy. Shelves are empty. Produce is old and rotted if not empty. Deli staff is rude and don't know how to cut meat. Employees are rude and apathetic about trying to help customers not answering questions or going to check on items like other stores. I drive all the way to Norwell to get better quality and unfortunately that store is going down also. read more

How is it possible in todays day and age for Stop & Shop to exist with poor (read, ZERO customer service) barely any lanes open - at ANY day of the week or hour, food that notoriously goes bad the next day and, insult to injury - prices that are higher then Wholefoods - can exist in the same reality as Market Basket- with exceptional customer service, food prices that are amazing, full shelves, lanes open with people who ALWAYS bag your food? I want this as notice to your Management (CEO included) that when Market Basket opens Hanover, I personally won't cry when you need to close locations. You do not deserve to survive. The only way you do, is it you do a 180° turn around on customer service and staffing. Which, we both know.... You won't do. read more

This store does not have a lot on their shelves and is very overpriced. In addition, their employees are rude. The products they sell are not in favor of their customers. I went to buy canned peaches, and none had easy lift off tops. They had to be opened with a can opener. A lot of people do not have can openers these days, and older people would have difficulty opening them. read more

Very unkind. I tried to buy Chardonnay for my elderly mother on the way back from viewing the gravesite for my father who died 3 days ago. I am 40. They would not sell me the wine because I have a NH license as they have a made up policy that they do not accept out of state licenses. This is not a law or ordinance. It was just enacted 4/15 and nearby liquor stores were closed but the manager would not make an exception despite my calm and repeated explanation of the circumstances. I am very disappointed. Not a big deal in the realm of things but their lack of compassion astounded me. I won't be going there again. read more

1 or 2 stars? Insane. This supermarket is far better than that. Disclaimer: I've never used the bathroom here, so I can't comment on that. But everything about the place is fine. Not all Stop & Shops are the same, but the one in Hingham totally changed my view of what Stop & Shops might be. In Boston (and I'm talking about Boston proper and the immediately adjacent suburbs), the Stop & Shops I've been to just feel dirty. This location is not like that at all. Everything is clean and well-organized. I've never had a problem with the food, and the staff I've dealt with have been fine. But then again, I don't go in wanting them to be my best friend. I just want them to tell me where I can find the occasional exotic item I'm looking for like chocolate-covered underwear and pufferfish. Note: they don't seem to carry either of these items. The self-checkout registers are always operational. Are some of the cashiers slow? Yes, but that's because they aren't paid to be highly efficient. But maybe there should be bonus rewards for cashiers who are faster and process more items. One thing to say is that Stop & Shop is completely underrated for their cakes. I've noticed this at every Stop & Shop I've bought a cake from. Folks, they've got game. I stopped by birthday cakes from anywhere else because somehow Stop & Shop puts out fantastic cakes every time. read more

This is the worst supermarket ever , deli sucks , rude rude and rude , woman behind the counter told my wife she didn't have sliced roasted chicken , and it was there , she didn't want to open the new package . When I pointed out it was there She was rude and should not be working in front of the public , for what I spend on food I don't think I should be treated rudely , I will not be shopping at stop and shop any longer , I will travel outside my town to get our foods , I always thought stop/shop was overrated anyways but was stuck going there because it close to my home , if you don't mind being talked too rudely shop here , You guys need training in dealing with customers badly !! read more

Unfortunately this is the only major grocery store locally. I have never had so much bad food in my life. Chicken bad two days after purchase, shrimp thrown away night of purchase, poor quality fruits and vegetables. Today I was in the store and picked up a bag of cuties mandarins, there was a completely rotten one, not just past it's prime, liquified. I tried three bags, all had the same issue. Terribly run supermarket - whomever is the manager of this store has to be the worst ever. The entire staff could care less about customers (who do you think pays your salaries?!). They are just rude beyond belief. Then the place is disgustingly filthy, makes you think you're playing with fire eating food purchased here. And the whole place is falling apart. On multiple occasions - more than I annoyingly want to count - the Scan-It system stops working halfway through your shopping and you've just wasted a chunk of time you'll never get back. Last time I was there the credit card machine wasn't working. Stay away! Whole Foods here I come! read more

Stop & Shop is not usually my fave grocery store. But I stumbled across this one's little secret - they sell alcohol! You're hard pressed to find the few grocery stores in MA that have a license to do so. It's not the end of the world to go without, but it's certainly nice to have the option of one-stop-shopping when you're planning a dinner or party. read more

I was in the Hingham Stop & Shop last night, Sunday 6/25/17. We went right to the deli around 8:30, there was only one person cutting cold cuts. On was sweeping and the other was busy closing the deli out. There were 5 of us standing there. I went to use the ladies room. As I was going to the bathroom I saw I tall man head come by the stall. I said, "Hey, I'm in here." He mumbled "sorry", but stayed in there. As I opened the stall he said something about scanning an item in there (He had a hand-held scanner). He said sorry again. He never knocked. I mentioned this to a lady who had a S&S badge on. She said she wasn't a manager and pointed to the air he was over there. I explained what happened. She said she told him to knock next time. I went back to the deli (boyfriend was still in-line) pretty upset. I stayed at the deli and my boyfriend retrieved items we needed. When we checked out the manager kept paging that they were closing. Most of us were from the deli now checking out late. Then he turned off the main lights as we all were getting checked out and paying. I've never seen a manager act like this. I was not about to waste my time telling him about the bathroom incident. He was already in a mood because people were still in his store. read more

I think this store has a long way to go w/ customer service. I need to use the handicapped mobility cart and this store only has 2 and most of the time 1 is broken down. I'm usually in and out of there pretty quick. But today I waited until the staff at the deli was done talking amongst themselves to place my order. The girl seemed annoyed and inconvenienced. A male employee kept talking to her and cursing a foot away from me. Then I asked a male stocker where something might be. He didn't turn around or acknowledge me other than saying "in the next aisle over I think" which they were not. Guess I'll stick to getting anything I have questions about at Trader Joes. read more
