I am currently visiting my in laws in Rhode Island and we decided to make a dinner at their house. They sent me for the dinner which I have no clue why, I needed these specific type of potatoes and couldn't find it. I ask this employee Jayden which I saw in the produce and he quickly came and helped me and made me not feel like an idiot because they were right there lol, even though I did get the right potatoes. I hate this store. It's run down lots of broken terminals in the self check out. The area where you put groceries as you scan them is too sensitive. I feel like a criminal with that thing constantly complaining and making the staff come over to unlock it. The city of Cranston has no policy on paper bags or charging for them. S&S is stealing our money charging 0.10 cents per bag. Got something like 35 bottled waters in your cart? Wouldn't a hand held scanner be nice? Not at S&S no hand held scanner for you. Very straight forward Stop and Shop here. The store is clean with nice staff. There is wide variety of produce, the prices are pretty much in line with other Stop and Shops that I go to around the state. This store seems to have an over abundance of people who like to park in the fire lane in front of the store. So much so one might get confused they pulled into the "Arrivals" are of TF Greene Airport. All around though it's a good store and I'll keep shopping here. read more

When in Rhode I usually bring my mom here to shop for the things that either Whole Foods does not carry or overcharges for. I like the wide aisles, the overall helpful staff, most of the prices and the Rhode Island food section! As Sarah P mentioned, it would keep the lines moving faster if they had more baggers but we don't have them in Brooklyn either! One nice touch would be some free samples as at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's! :-) read more

I have never liked shopping at this store, it's always dirty, smells like dead seafood and the employees are rude and unhelpful. But this takes the cake. Yesterday I needed some necessities and went to our local Stop and Shop on Atwood Ave in Cranston because it was the closest. I was horrified at how many people were in the store. There was no one managing the number of shoppers going in and out like at Whole Foods and they didn't have any space measured out in the waiting lines like Shaw's. I'm disgusted that they are clearly putting sales above safety and they should be fined or shut down. read more

I'm pretty upset about this chain's nonchalance about covid. I will never shop there again unless they fix what they are doing, in a hurry. The Atwood Avenue Cranston store, as of April 3, 2020, was creating a hazard by preventing shoppers from exiting one of its doors. If you made your purchase near the blocked door, you would have to hold your breath and walk through a long tight crowd of people where you could catch covid before leaving. The chain's Peapod service has stopped pickup order processing. Their best competitors, like Walmart, are still providing pickup orders. When Stop & Shop won't do its part in keeping shoppers safe during the covid crisis, it puts the whole public at risk. They are pushing customers who want contactless shopping toward other chains, resulting in a scarcity of available appointments at those good companies that are doing their part. Cashiers would be safer if they were carting orders out to parked cars instead ringing registers inside the store in front of customers. With pickup, they should not need to process credit cards, or IDs, or cash, because payments would be made through the website. The license plate of the car used for the pickup would be identified through the website. I understand that appointments could become limited by employee availability, but there is no excuse for stopping pickup. read more

Very few workers are nice at this location. Deli workers are rude and extremely slow. Pharmacy is great, Lou, Cathy and Larissa are awesome!! Most of the front end workers are pleasant except the lady at the customer service desk, not sure of her name but she's always on during the week in the morning. So miserable and rude she really makes the store look bad. She is never consistent on customer service, depending on her mood that day that's how you get treated. read more

My mom calls this the Italian Stop & Shop. I MIGHT have 4 extra feet of Italian products (in replace of the Spanish selection, which you'll find more of at the other Cranston location). Although I do like S&S, and they have everything you could ever dream of, their prices, are higher than they have to be. This is a clean and friendly location, but get really busy!! read more

Been going to this Stop & Shop for many years. Last time I visited, the cashier and the bagger (shocked there even WAS a bagger) never even looked my way as they were having a conversation, which was fine until the F bombs started flying. Not just one F bomb. Many. Might need to train the younger generation that that word doesn't belong on the job. There's a time and place for everything! read more

I went in here today to just go shopping for the week. Most of the trip was a normal shopping trip. No complaints with any departments other than the "butcher" and fish area. I was attempting to get a steak from behind the counter and a salmon filet. The guy behind the counter had had the hardest time with locating the steak I pointed out and specifically told him where it was (noted that there were only a few to choose from so this shouldn't have been a hard task). After about 5 points I figured that would be the worst part and the salmon order would be easy. Boy was I wrong. I tell him I would like a salmon filet two thirds of a pound. His response was, "is that just under half a pound ?" He was not kidding around. I had to tell him it's bigger than a half pound. He says "what are the numbers". I respond .67. As if that didn't put the icing on the cake, the piece he picked was almost a pound. I had asked him to cut it. He says he doesn't think he can do that. He says they will have to throw out the rest so they can't cut it. I said to him every other fish shop will cut it up including this store previously. He goes with someone in the back, he comes out and asks me where to cut it. He's supposed to know this working behind that counter. He cuts it and it comes back at .85 lbs. This is more than I need as my wife's limit is .67. I ask him to trim it down and he says he can't. I say just forget it and I'm going to another store. He says " yea you do that, it would probably be better". Meanwhile, he's looking at me like there is something wrong with my simple request. It's as if this guy has never purchased seafood in his life or waited on anyone. Take note...Dave's Market down the street is worth every penny for the service, quality and knowledge. Note to stop and shop. This guy needs to be moved to the back. He wasn't rude but he had no clue what he was doing. You will have a lot of frustrated customers getting fish if he stays. Note that he was working at 6:00 while I was in there as there was no name tag. He does not deserve to get fired or anything like that but man, customer service and job training are really needed here. I will be going to Dave's from now on for my meats and fish. read more

I placed a pick up order for Peapod at this location last Friday. My pick up time was delayed twice. When I showed up to pick up my order, there were no parking spots. I then called the number to let them know I was here. No answer. I left. I called again. They finally answered. They said it would be cancelled. It wasn't. I was charged. Today, I called for the refund. Guess what. The phone hung up because the wait time was too long. This company is a joke. Do. Not. Order. Peapod. Ever. I always do Walmart pick up and have never had a problem. Peapod pick up is a joke. You have been warned. read more

Produced is seems fresh BUT every time I go to this store there are very long lines at the registers! They might have only 2 open and they are long. When I say long I mean 5-6 people and they go out of the way to tell you that you can check out at such and such register " it's a self check". I don't want to self check!!! Give me a break! Stop trying to force me to self check! Open another register! I seldom go here! I go to the small store not far down the road. If there is more than 2 in line someone calls you to another register! I always go to this location, multiple times a day at that. Very well managed, clean, stocked, and welcoming! Yet every time I visit Karen at the gas station, I'm greeted with a displeased look. I get it if a bad day happens, but it's almost everyday with her. She keeps the station well cleaned, stocked and keeps up with trash, and other duties seemingly perfect! But the attitude can be a bit much. read more

don't know why the poor reviews for the Atwood Avenue store....I do my shopping here every week and have never had a problem with the workers......The first time I used the scan and bag your items as you shop one of the girls talked me through a couple of items to make sure I got the hang of it.....when I could not find an item one of the guys took me to the correct aisle and showed me where it was ....if they were out of an item on the shelf I have had workers go into the back room to see if they have anymore..another day I was getting ready to check out and noticed at the last minute that an item I had got was 3 for $10 and I had only grabbed 2 when the manager ( Rick ) heard me commenting that I would have to go back and get it he said stay there and he went and got it for me read more

They are a clean store and most of the employee are nice. Last night I had a bad experience though. I normally do my shopping in the morning or afternoon but, decided to do a little extra shopping for my kids on this night. I parked my car next to the bank side of the parking lot. Little did know that at 8:30 pm they lock the doors on that side to keep track of the customers for when they close at 9:00pm. It says this on a very little sign on the door. I proceeded to leave after making my purchase. I was heading for the side where I parked my car. I was yelled at that I can't go out that way because the doors were locked.Me not knowing it was locked.So, I told one of the young male employees that my car is parked on this side and asked him if I have to walk all the way around. The young man replied very bossy yup and walked away rudely. Another employee proceed to tell me the rules as I was walking out the door . Very much I'm in charge attitude. Not that I really expect this to happen but, I guess stop and shop would be responsible if I happened to been mugged or had a medical condition . Thank you for understanding employees. read more
