This is a good spot in the Logan's Circle area for a drink. Has a nice neighborhood bar feel. Bartender's not too chatty but she got our orders in quick. They have Strongbow cider in a can, which I think is almost as good as draft. The main reason we stumbled upon this place though was because of the wings; after a bad experience earlier with wings, we need to have some decent ones. Thankfully Yelp pointed us in the right direction. The verdict? Best wings I've had in DC. Good size, great sauce, good heat but not too spicy (my wife could eat them comfortable), and meaty. So tasty. We also had the mac and cheese, which was also really cheesy and tasty. I'm sure the rest of the menu is good, and I'd love to go back and try something else. read more

Quality Pub Food! Burgers are pretty amazing and they have a good selection of bottles and drafts. It's an unassuming place, with kick ass bar food and great service. If I lived in the neighborhood, this would be my go to pub. It's a nice throwback in comparison to some of the trendy places that surround it. Giving two stars for purpose of the food. To me, a bad food experience can be salvaged when the server exceeds expectations. The food was exceptional. Three different guests at our take agreed that the food was perfect and on spot. The server though was lacking especially in personality. I had to ask for my water to be refilled many times. When our food was brought out, we received one crab cake sandwich when the person actually ordered crab cake appetizer. When questioned the order, the server proceeded to tell what he 'heard' versus correcting the order based on what was expected. As well, we had to request silverware after the food was delivered. To further fuel the intensity, he was more concerned of cleaning tables in the back rather the following up to ensure that we were satisfied and progressing. Food? EXCELLENT Staff? Not too bad. Not too bad at all. Perfect place for a low key night hanging out with friends. I didn't have any beer, and the mixed drink I had was quite sub-par. However, I won't judge bc this place is a beer drinking kind of place. But what I did have was delicious! The food I ate: 1. Spinach Artichoke Dip - AWESOME! 2. Bacon Cheese Burger -- DELICIOUS! I will say it was a bit too pink for my taste in the middle, however my boyfriend ordered it for me and perhaps that is how he felt I would like it 3. Huge fans of Stoney's here. We love it. The food, the atmosphere, the beer, the prices. This place rocks. But most importantly, we love their burgers. The One Eye is one of the best we've had in the D.C. area. It's simple: an egg and burger on a bun. Oh, and you gotta add bacon to the mix. It'll set you back three bones, but it's worth it. Not impressed. The only reason I even went up to 3 stars is for the somewhat respectable beer selection. Slowest service ever, and no decent place to wait while the waiters sluggishly move around, doing basically anything but actually waiting on the tables. In search of a burger this place delivered and then some! We were able to grab the corner bar, (warning, it was chilly when the doors opened) and it was a good spot to be. Bartender was attentive and the food was delic! I had the Meatloaf Sandwich and there were two flaws...1. They put ketchup on the meatloaf (wasted) 2. They should put water chestnuts in it...I love a little crunch! I asked for gravy on the side and it was an a amazing beef gravy..so good! The fries could have been crispier but dunked in the gravy, who cares! Husband had the cheese burger which he enjoyed. Sat at the bar and ordered a lime ricky and the buffalo mac and cheese. The bartender was rude to me and my friend because my friend is lactose intolerant and asked for the pork nachos without the cheese and to add chili on top. The nachos arrived and had sour cream on top and also no pork. My friend asked about the pork and the bartender said that he didn't think that he wanted it (despite the fact my friend saying he wanted pork and chili). Drinks were tall but nothing special. Admittedly, I did not take the advice of my fellow Yelpsters and get a burger. However, I was feeling the need to eat a little healthier and decided on a chicken breast sandwich. In two words, completely forgettable. The sandwich was extremely generic, slightly under-cooked and came with cold fries (which helped with the eating healthier motif, as they were inedible). The only redeeming part of my meal was the stiff drink and the ability to watch my favorite college football team. As for my dining partner, she took the recommendation of getting the Grilled Cheese with bacon and tomato. According to her, it was good, but needed to come with a pitcher of water to help with the sodium rush. Her fries were also cold. I did see several burgers come out while we were there. They looked really good, but that could have been my jealous stomach wanting something more/better than what I ordered. Might try again... read more

I feel very conflicted reviewing Stoney's because of two factors--the female bartender with short gray hair has a pretty mean attitude and generally makes you feel like you're intruding for wanting to buy a drink, but the grilled cheese is probably the best I've ever had. The grilled cheese is good enough to keep me coming back despite the attitude. The bread is buttered and grilled to perfection. Stoney's has a good location and a nice feel to it, and the drinks are pretty cheap. read more

At first I was a little miffed that all other reviews seemed to focus on the grilled cheese. And then I tried the grilled cheese. Now I get it. We headed here with some friends for their trivia night on Wednesday's at 8pm. The trivia was very good: a good mixture of various random topics (ours included 'Canada' and 'Movie Sequels') but also sections identifying songs and identifying pictures of people. I didn't like their Happy Hour Specials (only on Fat Tire and hamburgers), so I had the Stoney's Amber (which was decent) and ordered the Black and Bleu Salad (which was good). Luckily I got to nibble a little off other plates and tried the fries and the plain grilled cheese which were both drool-inducing. The best part about the grilled cheese is the amount of butter they must be "grilled" in. They're almost juicy with the amount of butter used. read more

I live right across the street from this place (great view of it right outside my kitchen window!) so I really, really want to like this place and support businesses in my neighborhood. but they just give me no reason to say anything positive. I have visited the place about 15-20 times and the waiters/waitresses are always slow, dissinterested, and rude. the bartender is pretty full of himself and, well, doesn't provide good service. the beer is sort of pricey. the food is the only redeeming quality the restaurant has going: the grilled cheese is delicious and only $7 (cheaper than a beer). sure, the food at Comissary may be crap and the waiters at Logan Tavern may be sassy, but I would go there any day than Stoney's. Nice place to hang out.... I asked for a Half & Half, which was good, but the Bartender said "you want a black and tan?"... OK? no problem, i got the right drink. The only reason i mention that is that I ordered Buffalo calamari, but it was only eh, they didn't get it..... the made calamari and then "sprinkled" hot sauce on it..... anyway... there where only two tv's, nice but you could only see them from the bar... Lunches, happy hours, Christmas parties, I've been here for it all. Stoney's has a little dive bar feel, but it's new(ish) and without any dark corners or holes in wall. Decent pub food, nice beer selection. The grilled cheeses here are huge....and the ham & cheese appears underrated from past reviews. My personal favorite....the meatloaf sandwich. Nice and dense to sop up the beer, but more manageable than their burgers (which is not to knock them, they're great in their own right). If it's at all possible, I'd recommend to sit at the bar or the tables around the bar. The tables in the back seem kinda crammed, and while the service is the same....the view is better up front. read more

Spotty service but great place to watch any game. They have a good amount of seating in and around the bar with full service and views of TVs (1 on each side). The burger and fries are good but nothing super special. Their deals are what will bring you back. They do happy hour from 3-7 then again 11-12 and always have specials for the games going on. Great spot! The same "feeling" as the last Stoney's in it's new reincarnation. Very friendly and fun. The food, though bar food, was really good. Choices were varied and there were highlights. The mac and cheese was a huge favorite all through the place and my tuna melt had bread that was toasted and soaked in butter. Now you know that's good. Good beer selection and a nice low-key crowd. Not for a wild evening but for interesting people and conversation in a congenial atmosphere it's the ticket. We'll be back! read more

Stoney's is great for what it is- inexpensive pub food in a laid back atmosphere. I love going here. There is never a wait, the food is always good, and it comes out quickly. I entered Stony's apprehensively upon the glowing reviews of a friend. I was unsure of getting lunch from this place as from the outside, it just looks like a bar. Contrary to my expectations, I was extremely surprised to find that vibe to the place extremely appealing. The staff are extremely friendly and personable. Very homey feel to the place. Great social gathering place. Would be great for a birthday or anniversary gathering. The omelette was the best I've ever had. The portion side was generous. Stoney's is, in one word, awesome. It's so nice to have a non-pretentious place in the area that is just a straight up bar bar. Not only is Stoney's a great place to spend a Friday or Saturday night with friends, especially if you get a seat at the bar, but surprisingly their food is pretty good as well and, an important factor for this starving law student, decently priced as well. Their Buffalo Chicken Sandwich is solid, and their Grilled Cheese is really good. Stoney's is a great neighborhood bar, and one that I will be visiting very often this summer after finals. read more

Minus one. It's downsliding badly. The best part of Stoney's was the upstairs, when they first opened it -- painted dark green with wood trim, a nice new pool table, a separate jukebox, and terrific bartenders. And now? Different bartenders -- they inexplicably pushed out one guy, Patrick, who was one of the best barkeeps in DC, easily -- repainted the place in these garish blue and red paints, and ditched the pool table. So what do we have now? Pretty good bar food saves them from sinking to two stars. But that's about it. The beer selection has never been that great -- though there are usually at least one or two good options -- and the atmosphere and service have taken a big hit. Plus it got completely deluged by the meathead crowd (both straight and gay) that has come to dominate Logan Circle and much of Dupont -- and maybe this is the problem. Perhaps the owners realized that they were better off going down-market, cutting costs, and going for volume. Quite a shame. And if they don't turn it around, I'll be cutting one more star and not coming back. read more

I've been to Stoney's four time and have been please with the food quality and price. Last night I had their meatloaf, with mashed potatoes, gravy and veggies. I thought I was at home. The food was tasting and filling. Also, I like the beer selection. My only disappointment was the bartender, who I think was the owner's girlfriend or wife, was sick and kept coughing without covering. Kind of gross. I really think it is wise for everyone to stay home and recover when you're under the weather, especially in the restaurant business. Regardless, I'll be back again. read more

Stoney's is tastey and reasonably priced. The first time we went there, I had their Mac N Cheese with bacon which comes with the most amazing corn bread that I have every had. It was so good. My husband had their fish and chips. His favorite thing in the world is fish and chips and he said that this was the best he'd had. We had two beers, and our total was around $40. We have been back for beers, food and to bring friends. This place is great for a super casual dinner and beer after a late evening at work! You can come in with your work attire still on or in a tshirt after walking the dog and no one looks twice at you either way. read more
