Now this is a nice place! Time for a ranking template:
Atmosphere: 5/5
Its a nice, upscale place. They won't shopo you out or look at you sideways if you're under dressed, but I recomend business casual at least. Both the waiting area and bathrooms are clean. The dining area and bar are immaculate.
Food Quality: 5/5
Wow. :-D I'm a frequent cook and a harsh critique of cusine, and I can assure you Stoney River is superb. Everything from their blue cheese potato chips to their steak, all their dishes are flavorful, bare excellent texture contrast where appropriate, and come in generous portions. The waiter claimed they make everythin from scratch in-house and I believe it! Try their French Dip and get The Blondie for dessert, you won't be sorry. I haven't ever had a better French Dip than here.
They don't slouch when it comes to their steaks and burgers. This is the only place I can order a burger medium rare and have it show up with the middle hot, red, and bloody, while the outside is seared brown and sizzling. I'm getting hungry just writing about it.
Drinks: 5/5
If you have $$$ to blow, go wild. Their cocktails are good and tailor made to order. Want something subbed out? Extra sweet? More bitters? Dry? They'll do it.They've got this drink with bourbon and whole black cherries soaking in it. A refined take on a hard drink.
Service: 5/5
The hosts and hostesses and servers I've had so far are all on-point. I used to be a floor manager at a place similar to this, so I know what to expect. Each time my expectations are exceeded. Sometimes the waiter/waitress will even remember my name! Tip well, they deserve it.
Prices: 4/5
Better double check with your budget plan. Dinner for two with drinks and dessert can easily hit $100+ with tip. Despite the expense, it gets 4/5 because the food is so darn good!!! You get what you pay for at this place.
Location: 4/5
Parking at the Towson Mall is no lean feat. Its always crowded and the drivers are usually college kids or hurried parents from out of state. I'll let you draw your own conclusions on the safe driving skills of those groups. But at least it isn't hidden in the middle of the mall. And heck, if you need to walk off that buzz before heading home, take a walk around the mall. Its nice.
Kid friendly: 3/5
They have special seats for the small frys, and a kids menu too. Tasty finger foods and some healthier options. Personally, if you're ponying up the dough to eat at a nice place like this, hire a babysitter for 2 - 3 hours. This restaurant has fire places. Fire places! Crystal light fixtures. Its fancy. And sometimes kids can get too excited or loud. Folks who come here are paying top dollar, and loud screaming children---however innocent---are something of an affront to the environment this restaurant perpetuates. Staff are great and nobody says anything, but you'll get intermittent stares of "Dude... seriously? Crying babies? Here??" from other guests. If you have to bring em, no big deal. But I'd say take a break from dad-duty (or mom-duty) if you're able. read more
