This was our second visit to Stoney Point in the last three weeks, and both times we came specifically for the Friday Fish Fry. It did not disappoint. The service was extremely friendly and welcoming. Danae was our server again, just as she was on our previous visit, and she delivered the same excellent, attentive service. It's always a great sign when consistency carries over from one visit to the next. The Friday Fish Fry features four pieces of cod, each cut into roughly four-inch portions about the circumference of a quarter. This size allows the fish to cook evenly while maintaining its moisture and flaky texture. The cod is very lightly beer-battered, which we really appreciated--it enhances the flavor without overpowering the delicate taste of the fish. The standard accompaniments are cornbread and a lightly seasoned, fresh jicama slaw. One of the nice touches is the flexibility with sides--you're allowed to substitute fries and/or coleslaw for other options. I opted for a cup of the soup of the day, which was Cajun she-crab (excellent), along with onion straws. There are several other side choices available as well, some with a minimal upcharge. Even though the new and improved Chicago Bears let us down last night, Stoney Point Grill did not do so in the least. The $8 Half Order of Nachos was delicious and enough for two men to eat. The $4 16 oz Bloody Mary was just the right amount of spicy and came with a beer chaser. Excellent value, great service and a happy party atmosphere. So many big screen televisions it would take 10 minutes to count them all. Check it out soon for yourself, you'll be glad you did. read more

The food was very good and tasty as usual. At $17 for the walleye sandwich, I would say it was 15 to 20% overpriced Main reason for three stars instead of four was the very, very slow service. After seating ourselves for lunch, we waited at least 10 minutes until anyone came by. Midway through the meal, I ran out of my drink and the waitress (Coleen) did not come back until I was almost done-a period of at least 10 minutes again. She did not check on us during the meal at all. After bringing us the check 15 minutes, went by and I went to find Colleen coming out of the back area. When I mentioned, "I think you may have forgotten about us", she said no no I didn't. I'm thinking well a large amount of time has gone by and I had to come find you. Finally, I had mentioned to her that I had a birthday gift coming and showed her the scan code earlier on before we ordered and she said we'd take care of it at the end of the meal. When I mentioned it when she brought the bill, she looked at me confused like we hadn't spoken about it and then asked me if I had already claimed it. To which I said I have the code I showed you earlier - not knowing what to do. She took the phone to someone else and they scanned it for the discount. This restaurant is perfect for all those who want to enjoy American bar food, a strong mix drink, or a cold beer. It's a great place to enjoy watching your favorite sport on one of their many televisions, that are strategically placed everywhere for your viewing pleasure. They even have off track betting. We started with an appetizer, the buffalo chicken eggrolls, then 2 burgers for our meal which came with fries. The food was average. The burgers could've been seasoned a little bit more and the fries were over salted. I truly enjoyed the atmosphere. If you're a sports fanatic, this is the place for you. read more

Food is very good. I didn't think a sports bar type restaurant could make some of the creative dishes that they do and do it well but Stoney Point does! Burgers are yummy and they make a teriyaki salmon bowl that is so tasty with avocado slices, edamame, rice and a tasty chipotle type Mayo dressing, it's really delicious! Service is fast and always reliable. Took one star off only because if you're dining in it can get a little noisy during a game or event. I know it's a bar, I get that, I'm just saying if you're expecting a quiet, dining experience be prepared it can get a little loud. But, definitely 5 star for everything else. read more

We stoped in on Valentine's Day for dinner. Suprise! No waiting... Had a decent size crowd there with a lot of constant chatter but we had no problem with it. I ordered the Wednesday special...the $5.00 build your own Burger with Chips or Fries (I opted to upcharge to tator tots) It was hot and jucy with crispy tator tots. Met my girlfriend after work for a yummy drink and dinner for the first time and everything was so yummy. We both ordered the frozen margarita with lime and shared their loaded pretzel with cheese and mustard dipping sauce. I had the smokehouse burger with sourdough bread, apple wood bacon, Gouda cheese, garlic aioli and grilled onions with this fried onion string. And I ended the night with Coors light on draft and it was so good! Everything was good. Typical bar atmosphere with some slot machines and service was decent. I have always enjoyed the food at this restaurant over the years, and the perch dinner was always my favorite until last week. My husband and I went there for dinner. He had the fish fry which he enjoyed a great deal, I chose the perch and was disappointed with the high price compared with the amount of perch you received. There used to be about double the amount. Also the quality of the fish was not good. The fish had a funny taste which made me nervous to eat them. The sauce which I have always really liked had a film on it, which made me think that it had been sitting unrefrigerated for a while. I absolutely love this place. I work right near it and I must say the food and service here are top notch. They have a very balanced menu and I would say 90% of everything on it is delicious. The staff here are extremely friendly which adds another dimension to coming here. On this visit my husband and I split a couple apps. The buffalo shrimp and the cheese curds. Food and drinks here are good. They have a decent variety of beers on tap. The best thing I had was the Buffalo shrimp by far. Great flavor and good size. I thought the walleye po' boy was good but I wouldn't order this again before giving a few other things on the menu a try. The curds were good. The tots were good. I needed to feed some people after 8pm on Sat in funky cold Mokena. Usually, not a problem; until a worldwide Pandemic changes business hours from 8a - 8p. Jameson's had a significant wait, Stoney Point right down the street was able to seat us immediately. My server was gracious and helpful. This is a nice warm tavern. First time myself and 2 daughters went here. Sat at bar first and had excellent service. When our table was ready the server seemed attentive at first, but never checked on us. We had to ask to get any drinks, never brought appetizer plates when asked or to go boxes. Was very uninterested. She should not be in the service industry. Stoney Point Grill, we didn't get off to a good start at all. I understood the wait to be seated, it was Friday so the 45 minute wait is partially excusable. Waitresses did offer us a beverage, a few people asked if we had been taken care of so that was appreciated in light of the long wait. That brings me to my confidence of great service changing to frustration and resolve to never return to this establishment. Once we were seated (45 mins. After walking through the front door), we literally sat at the table an additional 15 minutes before anyone inquired if we'd like to order a beverage. So... now that we are vested 1 hour into this place, we are still waiting for a server to approach our table. I hadn't sipped the lemonade we ordered, and I suggested we just leave and find some other place where my husband could get the Burger he had the appetite for, because at this point my appetite was vanquished by the poor service we were experiencing. Clearly many of the other dining patrons were being served while we sat watching. My husband finally flagged down a member of the waitstaff to ask if we could order, atlas we were greeted by Courtney. I'm going to chalk up Courtney's lack of experience for the reason we probably won't be back for another round of frustration. We are very patient, not overly demanding and very reasonable diners, but today was stretching our limits of being courteous and appreciative. The redeeming factor was my Husband enjoyed his burger. I was not impressed with the cod fish, but I can be positive and say it was served Hot, I had to ask for tarter sauce, and the mashed potatoes were like mortar and surprisingly cold sitting next to the piping hot fish (in retrospect, I guess I should've gotten a burger). The pricing was moderate, the dining room beautiful, service disappointing, my suggestion to you if you visit this restaurant is pack plenty of patience, and probably don't visit for dinner on a Friday . I gave three stars because my Hubby really enjoyed his burger, I personally would have preferred to leave. read more

First visit was for lunch. Nice beer selection. Way to many choices on the menu. I ordered the broiled grouper. Usually my favourite fish entree. This time I was served the following: 1. Overdone fish. 2 Burned and dry filet of grouper. 3. A overwhelming " fishy" smell and taste. 4. How old was this filet ? Could it have been on verge if spoiling ? 5. Sure, a fish will smell like the ocean when it is fresh. I have opened cans of cat food that smelled more fresh. NOT a go-to restraunt for me. read more

Here's the deal. I love this place. Great people work here. Excellent owners. Great environment. Regular customers every week. Very good food. But... You're not dialed in anymore. And I'm the person that's going to bring it up. In the past 6 months I've had 5-6 orders which were not correct. I basically order the same thing all the time. I was in here last night and the guy next to me got the wrong order. I came back today and I got the wrong order. Now I noticed half of it was wrong when I got it (and that was fixed 5-10 minutes later) but I didn't notice the other half wasn't. When I got home I got a chicken parm with au jus sauce. I don't think that's a good combo. The last time this happened I mentioned it to the bar staff on my next visit and I got a sorry. No refund, no we'll make it up to you. Here's the deal... You're going through the motions. You're not dialed in anymore. Get dialed in again. Most people won't complain but I'm not one of them. I worked in restaurants when I was younger. I know what it takes to stay on your toes. And here's the last thing I'm going to tell you. Clean the bathrooms on an hourly or 2-hour basis. The bathroom should be cleaned every 2 hours. It'll take a guy 5 minutes to clean the bathroom and empty the garbage. I worked at McDonald's when I was younger and McDonald's was no where near as busy as Stoney Point is, and we had to clean the bathroom every two hours. There was a maintenance sheet on the tile wall with your name on it. Once again, I love SP. But you guys are slipping. It's been going on for a while. Your online rating should not be a 4 out of 5. My wife and I have a three strike rule when it comes to restaurants, bars, and grills. We went to Stoney Point Grill three times and they hit a Home Run all three times. Food was absolutely delicious every time, but my wife didn't care for the mixed drinks. That's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. The beer was always served cold and in its proper glass. Last but not least, the service was great every single time. One of our favorites. The food is always consistent and service is normally pretty good. However it can be pretty loud. The boots with the dividers are quieter. But the back tables are very loud and sometimes difficult to hear people across the table. Favorites include the Muskie Burger, Shaved Prime Rib, Lake Perch, and Walleye Po Boy (but the Walleye portion is a little on the smaller side). For an appetizer, try the blue cheese chips. read more
