had dinner here last night and it was a wonderful experience. the veggies are from the restaurants' own farm in Redmond WA and they are mouthwatering delicious. The portion sizes are great and the food was superb. To top it off we had a phenomenal waiter Albert who knew the menu inside and out and helped us pick out the perfection portion and combination of food. I felt like I was at a 5 star restaurant. This is one of our new favorites. Been here twice for brunch & dinner. Service was quick & friendly both times. No wait at brunch and we made a reservation for dinner. Lovely atmosphere. We were seated by the big windows both times and they were open which made it feel like being outside and was really pleasant. What we had for dinner: Crispy olives stuffed with cheese - These were pretty good. I liked the texture but the flavor was really just warm castelvetrano olives. The olive flavor overpowered the mild cheese they stuffed it with. A sharper cheese might work better. Delmonico 38 oz steak - This was a special of the night and not on the regular menu. For sharing but not actually as big as it sounded. They did it just perfectly medium the way we asked. Very tasty but maybe not quite worth the $70 compared to what you get at some very good steakhouses. It came topped with corn and green beans which were pretty good. Ricotta dumplings - One of the best pasta dishes ever! The flavor of the pasta itself was really good and the creamy, corn-y sauce with nutmeg & a basil oil all around was just perfect. I want to go back and have it all to myself. I think all these dishes are meant to be shared but this was kinda small. Margarita pizza - Great dough and sauce. The fresh mozz didn't have that creaminess that really good mozzarella has (like at Via Tribunali) and was a little too salty. But overall the pizza was good and I'll go back to try other flavors. Kids pasta - They graciously agreed to use bucatini instead of gemelli (which was supposed to be the kids pasta) because our kid wanted something that looked like spaghetti. We asked for it with tomato sauce. It was so good I kept stealing bites off his plate (and he ate a good chunk of our steak!) There are other items on the menu I really want to try so we'll be back for dinner for sure. I do wish they would bring out bread with dinner. Seems like you had to order a charcuterie platter to get some bread or crackers. And it would have been good for the pasta sauce & steak juice. What we had for brunch: Savory dutch baby - comes topped with short ribs & a fried egg. So yummy. The meat was tender and flavorful & the pancake had great texture and flavor on its own. Not exactly a summery dish but I was in the mood for something hearty. It would have benefited from something fresh on top to lighten it up and give a counterpart to the rich flavors - some salsa, chopped tomatoes, even just herbs or a cold sour cream. I'd definitely have this again in cooler weather. The burger with added fontina & fried egg - Very solid burger but might try something else next time. Granola with fruit & yogurt - Granola was good but had added ginger that day which I liked but my brunch mates didn't. I was surprised the berries were a little limp & sad looking, probably because of the heat. And the portion of yogurt was pretty small. Overall both great meals. The service and ambiance make it especially nice - more so now with the big open windows. read more

I have eaten here twice in the past month and found the food to be fantastic and creative in its presentation! We have come with large parties and ordered most everything on the menu and both times not one crumb was left on any of the plates! The atmosphere is excellent and the service professional, friendly and knowledgeable. My initial request for a reservation went into their junk mail, causing me to make 2 phone calls in addition to my first request. Ate at this delightful place a few weeks back. The wait staff was helpful and friendly. Items served were not huge thank goodness. The server suggested we pick several items and share amongst the five of us which was perfect since we did not want to be over fed. Loved the atmosphere. Please visit. What an amazing experience! Generated a yelp account just to write this review. It was a cold day in Ballard and the place we intended to go was closed, so we popped in to the next restaurant we saw, Stoneburner. Beautiful restaurant, wonderful ambiance. Food was superb! Both of us work in the restaurant industry and avoid going out too often as it just feels like going to work, however we left this place feeling like we'd eaten a home-cooked meal. Not too expensive considering the quality of food. Service wasn't overbearing, but our server was there whenever we needed her. All around wonderful addition to Ballard Ave! read more

Stoneburner is a beautiful restaurant. I have been three times and the highlights have been the cocktails and the ambiance. The food and service have been a bit disappointing. The first visit I sat at the bar and the Manager went around to all of the other guests seated at the bar and passed out a slice of some type of cured meat he sliced on a beautiful machine by the front door but passed over my friend and I. We figured we must've smelled or something and laughed it off. It seems like the food takes an awfully long time and two times we ordered pizza the crust was really burned. The oddest experience was at lunch when the restaurant was empty but the host wouldn't seat my party. They said we had to wait for 15 minutes with no reason given but we could sit at the bar and wait. We were hoping the bartender would at least take a drink order while we waited but no luck. He may have been the only one working but there was just 2 other couples in place. For now I think that Stoneburner will a spot to meet for a drink. read more

Had been here for brunch on the weekend and was impressed by the food and open air dining so I decided to make a dinner reservation. Came in on Monday night and was surprised by the special - delicious spaghetti and meatballs for $10 paired with a $5 glass of sangiovese! Have been to Stoneburner three times now. The pizza is amazing, arguably one of the better wood fired pizzas in the city. We also and the octopus and caesar salad on our last visit. Both were exceptional. The octopus was bright and citrusy, cooked perfectly. The caesar was amazing, the right amount of dressing and I really liked the cheese they used on it. The pizza is on point, perfect amount of chew in the crust, not too much. The bar area is awesome, the bar counter has a lot of seating and sort of wraps around so you don't feel like you are on top of your neighbor, but they can get a lot of people seated. Servers were great! The only reason it didn't get five stars was on previous visits the pasta has been really disappointing. Not great texture or flavor. Looking forward to trying the pasta again, hopefully it will be better! read more

Had dinner here on a Saturday night after having drinks over at Bastille. We had no idea what to order so we went with the bartender's recommendation of grilled zucchini (perfect), burrata (so so), and my favorite, the Spicy Queens pasta dish. Made from homemade pasta, the sauce is really spicy, but soooo good! Mint and almonds are an unexpected addition, but compliment the dish perfectly! One of the best meals I had in Seattle! read more

We went on the recommendation of the daughter of friends whom we met there. It's located in the Ballard Hotel with on street parking, so good luck. We were very lucky! Convivial atmosphere and outstanding wait service. Grilled octopus was a good choice and the beet salad was the best I've ever had. Pizza was OK. We came here for a friends birthday with a group of 8 and it was actually a switch in plans because we were wanting to go to another VERY POPULAR restaurant down the street (it rhymes with schtaple & phancy) but our party was too big. In my opinion, Stone Burner is WAY better than the other restaurant - and far more affordable. We got the bread and Octopus for appetizers and we're all really impressed - especially by the octopus but the real shocker was the pizza. YOU GUYS! Their pizza crust is some of the best in town. They make it 24 hours in advance and often run out...it's that good! I tried both the potato/Chanterelle pizza and porchetta pizza and both were seriously the best gourmet pizza I've ever had. I guess they even have a happy hour where you can score the pizza for a smoking deal. Go here. And if you have a group big enough, you'll sit at the phallic table - and you can all laugh about it like you're in JR high. read more

Probably the best brunch we've ever had. My wife and I went this Valentine's day. We split the breakfast pizza, which was awesome. The other breakfast pizzas I have had have been too doughy and rich. This one was a perfect blend of eggs, cheese, bacon and potato that was not too filling. We also split the olive oil pancake with caramelized apple, which was just insane, and again, lighter than one would think. And our server was a great guy (I wish I could remember his name). Recently celebrated a birthday here, and the service and food was phenomenal. Pleasant servers and host staff, great food and drink recommendations, and every thing we ate and drank was delicious. Had a mixed experience here last week and also on a prior visit in August. To be honest, I think the food is quite tasty. Mostly everything I've had has been very well prepared (grilled raddicchio salad was fantastic, as was a grilled cod special). HOWEVER, it is waaaaaayyyyy overpriced for the portion size. On our recent visit, my husband and I shared a salad and each ordered a "large plate" as we were both pretty hungry. We then shared a dessert (chocolate/hazelnut something- also delicious). We both left pretty hungry and our bill was $130 before tip! (note: that includes 2 drinks each). I am not a huge eater and rarely complain about portion size, but we were very dismayed but the TINY portions we got by ordering LARGE plates. Doubt we will be back, though as I said, food was very good and service was also pleasant, if slow. read more

this is from an experience we had last fall. The atmosphere is lovely like all of their partner restaurants, but the food is meh. We went with an opened mind ...our order was taking a little while to get to us so we ordered the bread....and it came to our table "toasted" but black scorch marks from the grill don't leave a good taste in your mouth. I couldn't eat it. The staff was nice but seemed a bit unsure of how things work....I figured they were still getting there footing as this was a fairly new space at the time. We each had pasta dishes, a good measure of and 'Italian' restaurant, mine was was a pumpkin special, they were both under-seasoned and unremarkable, but the pasta texture was good. We had ordered a couple sides as well but there were issues with plates coming from the kitchen. Our brussel sprouts came out as we finished our meal.....scorched not 'roasted'...black char tastes like black char...I kind of couldn't believe it left the kitchen looking like that. really, seriously, black leaving char on the dish. I give this place a second star only based on their restaurant manager, who is an obviously well experienced professional and seemed frustrated with the kitchen as well.....we were offered a dessert on the house, that was good ( but I really just wanted to leave)...mind you we didn't even complain about the charred food or the wait ...but they already knew that it was a bad service.... There's better Italian food in the city....even in Ballard. I think what I find frustrating with this restaurant and it's sister sites (Bastille, Poquitos, Von Trapp's) is...the interiors and designs are beautiful and make you want to spend time in them, but all of the food is unremarkable and I'm not willing to pay the price for unremarkable food....and yet I've gone back to give these spaces another try but am bummed out every time. If you want to 'transport' us to these other places ...then provide us with a proper taste of said culture...provence..etc. ..... they're better than the chow foods group They got it right with MacLeod's that place is fantastic ...but really how can you screw up scotch! read more

Disappointing, in a word. I suggested this place to some friends after seeing the crowds of (seemingly) happy diners and reading some hype online. Service was sketchy from the beginning, only saw the waitress twice during the meal: once to take our orders and once to take our money. I'm a big believer in the obligatory check-in after the plates are served: "how's everything tasting, etc?" It's sometimes taken for granted, but in the event that the food is less than spectacular, it is an important question. I opted for the cauliflower ravioli, thinking that it sounded like a solid, but not too filling pasta dish. It was disappointing. About six ravioli, luke warm, filled with a baby food consistency filling. My friend got another pasta dish that, honestly, looked like a bowl of little maggots. Tasted OK though, if you could get past the appearance. The happy surprise was the pizza, and also the only reason for the three stars. Crispy, crunchy and doughy all in one. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, and got the wrong server, but I expected more from such a popular and well-designed concept restaurant. I stopped into Stoneburner for lunch with my husband. The restaurant has great ambiance, and the weather was lovely, so they opened the windows onto the street. The service was a little slow, especially for a less than half empty restaurant. The waiter was friendly, but overly chatty. My husband ordered a scotch, and the waiter kept on coming back to the table to tell us that we didn't have the brands my husband was inquiring about. When he finally settled on a scotch, the waiter came back and tried to up-sell to a more expensive local scotch. It was exhausting. We wound up waiting a good 20 minutes for our drinks after all of the discussion. We had been traveling all day, and we just wanted a beverage to start off our Seattle vacation, and the beginning of our experience at the restaurant was a tad annoying. The food took a while to come out, as well. When our heirloom tomato salad and pizza arrived, all was forgiven. The tomatoes were the best I've ever eaten in my life and the chanterelle and potato pizza was phenomenal. Maybe they were having an off day, in terms of service, but the food was awesome. read more
