My kitchen remodel was a bit of a nightmare as I believe any remodel job will be. It is just the nature of this kind of work. The part that went smooth and on schedule was the counter top measurement and installation. I was contacted by Charizza via email immediately after my purchase at IKEA. with very clear instructions on when and how to schedule the measurements. When it was scheduled the gentleman who came in ( and am sorry to say I forgot his name ) was prompt, very professional and quite precise. He was very helpful in giving me tips about the corners and how to achieve the look I wanted. The day of installation we faced a challenge. The counter top did not fit in the elevator. I was told it will take another 48 hours or more for them to take it back cut it and come back to install. I called Charizza in distress. She was amazing. She expedited the process and all went well. I love the work they have done. The counter top is beautiful , the installation flawless. Charizza also gave me care instructions in an email. I recommend these guys highly. read more

oh boy, what an ordeal dealing with this company. The installation of the countertop was mid april, through Ikea. I am going to skip the whole scheduling nightmare as it seems that it's a recurring theme for everyone, me included... so after several back and forth I got my countertop installed. It looks ok, it's white, what I ordered. Now, the 1 star review (read 0 star cause that's what it should be really) comes from several issues and flaws with the installation. BTW this was pointed out by an expert opinion as I had to provide supporting documents for my case against Stone Etc... I am asking for a "sloppy job" compensation. #1 - Dishwasher can't be secured properly - there is no plywood template under the countertop and now some plywood has to be glued somehow and we need to find a way to modify the DW hooks to secure the appliance. not ideal #2. Stone Etc secured the kitchen sink with a big fat piece of wood on each side - sloppy, unaesthetic and not professional. the install looks cheap and not well thought out. #3. The countertop is glued to the kitchen cabinets. If for some reasons I need/want to change the countertop, I am screwed !! the cabinets will get damaged so I am looking at replacing the entire bottom of the kitchen. #4. the expert pointed out that the area around the DW is not supported adequately. Suffice to say that since I don't have children there is no risk of someone climbing on the countertop to reach for the halloween candies (;-)) but my point is that the countertop can crack under sufficient pressure in this area as there is no proper underlying brackets to support the stone. Now, I have been dealing with this since May. I started contacting the company first, to get this resolved. They rudely refused. I am now filing a complaint with Visa and they do not want to acknowledge the issues either. If anyone has tips on how to handle the situation, I would appreciate them! We had a very good experience with Stone Etc. We ordered our counters through IKEA, and ended up not being ready to have them installed for more than a year due to construction/remodel issues, and Stone Etc. was very flexible about that. They checked in a few times, but never made us feel rushed. And when we were finally ready, they stuck to the stated schedule and were on time both for the measurement and installation appointments. The installation crew arrived on-time, were very professional, talked through the installation with our contractor, and did a flawless installation. I was struck by how professional the crew was, spraying and wiping down the counters and leaving them in very clean condition (in a house that is still an active construction zone). Although the end product of new countertops is fine, and looks good, the lack of professionalism regarding pertinent information and scheduling is appalling. Just having the person out to measure wasn't easy. Let me say that I work, and have to arrange someone else to be here to let them in. My experience has been that they seem to have an assumption that I'm home all day, or can easily be so, to accommodate their wanting to come earlier, later or a different day altogether. I'm unavailable during my working day, seeing patients where I can't break off to answer my phone. The incident that prompted me to write my first ever Yelp review happened when they did arrive for the installation- early, before my friend arrived to let them in, despite my having clearly stated that we planned on their timetable of 2-4 pm arrival. They showed up at 1 pm, and had to wait. I explained there'd be no-one home until that time! I'd even sent an email highlighting the times I wouldn't be at all available. So what time do they schedule? Precisely that time I'd clearly stated was impossible at my end! So, they do the work, then need a decision made at the end where to cut the holes for the faucets, and that decision must be signed off on. Well, this was the first I'd heard of this 'protocol'. Not once, in the 14 emails back and forth, was this important piece mentioned. They knew I wasn't onsite, or should have done. Some time later on the day they were installing the countertops, when I could check my messages, I see a barrage of messages wanting me to answer or call back immediately regarding this. Of course, it was too late, they'd left without cutting the holes. I was furious that they'd 'overlooked' informing me of this need for such a decision. They said they'd waive a 'return fee', and could come 8 am the day after. I agreed, and informed my contractor who was waiting on them before he could finish up. Next day, they let me know they need to re-schedule, again. I called them to clearly inform them that I can't re-schedule as there are a chain of people caught up in this waiting to compete their work! They instead offer me a 6.30 am appointment rather than the 8 am. Fearing how much longer this could drag out, and hold up my contractor, I reluctantly agreed to a 6.30 am visit to punch out the faucet holes. They arrived @ 6.15 am, completed the job in 20 minutes. They were professional, helpful and the job was completed. If only the office staff who run the business were as efficient, and clear on all stages of the protocol, what a difference in experience, and review, this would have been. Seems the different departments don't communicate with each other, and seem to have little regard for their customers other commitments, like work! This attitude results in controlled chaos for the customer, avoidable delays and an aura of inefficiency inconsideration. read more

Installed new countertops over existing ikea cabinets. Measurement guy was prompt and knowledgable. Tina was courteous and helpful. Install went well and all looks good. Only drawback was they were going to leave without caulking the back where the product meets the wall. When I asked them about this they said the backsplash would cover. I told them as per plan, there was no backsplash, this was not a kitchen. They did not really get it until I insisted. I had to convince them that this was what I wanted and part of the design. Good thing I noticed before they left. They did caulk and did a great job. All is good! read more

I don't know why a big company like Lowes has a contract with these people. Maybe Stone Etc is willing to lower agreement with Lowes so they can get as much customers as possible and make the most money and not providing excellent work and bad customer service. Remodelling is not fun when you deal with companies like Stone Etc. I do not recommend this place. Terrible service and not worth the headache. read more

We used Stone, inc. through Ikea for our kitchen countertops. Yes it did take a couple of weeks after the initial measurements to get the countertops installed but after dealing with Home Depot and the nightmare of installing our tile in our bathrooms, a couple of weeks wasnt that big of a deal for us. Tina was great in keeping us informed and answering all of our questions. The installers were very professional and left our place clean which is rare with any kind of contractors that do work in your home. For some reason they all love to leave a huge mess. I have just finished a kitchen remodel through Ikea and I have to say that Stone Etc. has been the most pleasant and helpful company that was part of the remodel. I got a call a from Charizza right after I placed my order to set up an appointment to check the cabinets. When the crew arrived they were very polite and courteous. Marco, the template guy came by made all the templates, triple checked everything and I also told him we were changing the material to another. I received a call from Ikea and was told there was an up charge for the new material which I paid over the the phone. I was wondering why we never got a call to schedule the and schedule the install and it turned out that Ikea dropped the ball and forgot to call Stone and let them know we paid for the up charge on the material. Charizza put a rush on everything and the install happened on schedule. Carlos and his crew did and awesome job with the install. My GC failed to inform me until 3 days before inspection that we would need a third hole or lose the soap dispenser because of a required air gap (vent) for the plumbing. I called them back and spoke with Edith. She arranged everything and Marco came back and put the hole in with 2 days to spare. As I said I Stone Etc. was the best part of the remodel and would use again on my next kitchen or bathroom remodel. read more

Stone Etc. helped me re-do my kitchen and was very patient with me making adjustments as the project went along. Scheduling to fit my needs was never a problem. The granite counter turned out lovely. Installation of the appliances, sink, and faucet done and work great. My backsplash design and installation turned out fabulous. I'm a kitchen designer and my clients got their Silestone through Stone Etc. Their pricing is great and their customer service is A+. I was especially impressed with how they handled some issues that came up- some were issues on their part and some were on the client's part- but they handled it quickly and efficiently. They re-fabricated the countertop several times until the client was satisfied. This also occurred the week of Christmas- my clients were having 12 people over for dinner Christmas day and needed countertops! So Stone Etc.'s team went out on a Saturday when they are normally closed as well as after hours 2 days before Christmas in order to get it done in time. With remodels, issues always come up. It is just a matter of how it is resolved and Stone Etc. resolved this quickly and with grace. Thank you!! read more

Like the song goes "Taking care of business" is pretty much the standard. Everyone has a project that needs to get done, we all have timeframes to shoot for, yet reality kicks. The DIY option is always an option when doing a project, but can one person do it all? Answer NO. I can't handle countertops alone, unless I go with the cheapy-big-box-off-the-shelf product. So naturally having services available by professionals to handle a quality product is the way to go. Stones Etc. is a great choice. It's the IKEA connection. I shopped around before making this choice and almost made the wrong decision. Not only did I save money, I'm getting a great product. The timeframe of installation and reality of this choice is just part of the ticket. We all trade in a little time for things in life. Sometimes making another choice still takes the time away from you. Would someone trade more money for time, or time for money? It's an individual decision to be made. In this case it was the right choice for me and I'm a happy camper (DIY kitchen remodeler), and I'll keep on singing "Taking care of business" even though if I work overtime it's on me. This review is overdue. But I finally got settle from my move as there were other things keep needing fixing in the house. I ordered my CS quartz countertop via Ikea in 2014 with 20% off discount (this year they only offer 15% in gift card form). Countertop template was straight forward. The guy who came (I forgot the name) is nice and professional. Countertop is ready to install in about 2 weeks. Installation crew is great, they are very fast and know exactly what they are doing. The installation went very smooth. The seams are nice and subtle. The only minor thing I have is that the sink cut out seems to be done by hand,not computerized machine. I can only tell if I stare at the sink from the end of the peninsula that the front inside edge is not completely smooth (I have an undermount Blanco Diamond super single sink that has a very very slight curve in the front) and cannot tell if I am standing in front of the sink. So I am ok with it. For the price I got via Ikea 20% sale, I am happy with the end result. read more

They were polite, friendly, efficient, patient with my exuberant dog, completely unfazed when the entire building's earsplitting fire alarm went off for 10-15 minutes, and the end results look amazing. I have not even had my countertops fitted yet, and I can assure anyone out there, this is a serious case of STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!. It has now been nearly a month since I purchased my countertops from Directbuy (another story........), and it took two weeks to get an appointment for the template and under layment. The guy that came out had a very bad attitude. Thinking that was a bit long, but having some action kept me from earlier complaints, I have now been told, another two weeks later, that they will be installing the counters in ten days. So, overall it has taken them a month to do something I have had done before by companies like Sousa in a matter of a week or two. Stone Etc. will never have any of my business, or that of anyone I know for sure!!! Dreading what they can screw up once they actually get here to install. read more

Stones Inc was very professional and customer service was good. Even after the install of my counter tops they kept following up weeks after to make sure everything was still intact. First time ever redoing a kitchen and this was part of the kitchen remod where I had the less stress. This is the type of vendor you need when doing a remod like this especially a kitchen. Lara was fantastic. The install guys were good, fast and detailed. Even when we saw a slight edge a bit too high after settling in they came out asap and fixed it in a matter of minutes. I think I was the one unlucky individual to have to work with this company. I cannot even begin to tell you all the poor customer service I have received since January when I purchased the piece of Ice Stone. Essentially, the custome service was and continues to be pathetic, the workman ship was very poor, and after 3 cancelations to have the repair person show up...I am still waiting. I would not recommend this company. I ended up having additional costs because their staff gave my contractor misinformaiton and this resulted in them taking my sink (which they did not tell me) and when it was returned, there were scratches (it is an expensive stainless steel one, too!). Jessica, one of the managers basically said, "oh well, not our problem". The company chose not to even apologize or particiapte in the ownership for this mistake, and several others. I have since involved the Ice Stone rep and hope that next week this will be resolved. I wish that I had gone with a local fabricator, and yes more expensive than Stone Etc. Spend the money and get someone who will do the job well. read more

I knew what color tone and material I wanted for my kitchen countertop, but was having trouble finding it. A friend had used Gilman's Kitchen and Bath in San Mateo, so I thought I would check them out. They have a great selection and I finally chose Cambria Quartz in "Rosalyn". I worked with Cynthia. She was hands on from start to finish. I brought in my cabinet sample and backsplash tiles so we could get a feel for what would compliment these. After my cabinets were installed, Stone Etc. came out and took very thorough measurements and created an exact template. It was very interesting watching that process. It took a couple of weeks for the counter to be delivered. The installers did a great job. They sealed the two pieces together and you cannot see the seam. Cynthia was there to oversee both the measurements and the install. I love my kitchen and the countertop is the highlight. I would highly recommend Gilman's and Stone Etc. for the job and I will definitely use them in the future. The quality and workmanship of the counter is exceptional and well worth the price.
