The place is new and the menu is still being expanded but so far everything I have tasted has been very good or excellent. The vegetarian burrito my wife ordered (I'm a meatatarian) was very flavorful and generously sized. My sun cakes (corn cakes with a ropa vieja - like braised beef on top) were delicious and satisfying. My son's burger was done exactly to order, juicy and flavorful. The ramen I ordered had great depth of flavor, rich and savory, though it could have used a smidge of tangy to bring it into the stratosphere. The calamari I just had were silky in texture and lightly breaded, not at all greasy. I can honestly say that all of the offerings at this place that I've tried have been either the best or tied for the best of their genre, for quite a distance from the area. And don't let me forget about the beer! I lean toward American IPAs, especially of the very hoppy sort, and have found my favorite in New Exton IPA, but every style I've tried from this place has been quite delicious. I have great expectations of Stolen Sun and am ecstatic to have a destination of this caliber virtually in my back yard! read more

Visited Stolen Sun a couple weeks ago. Did not know of its existence until someone recommended it - would never know that it is behind the UFC training facility (across the street from Target). So happy that we were informed - it is excellent. The place is very informal - you go to the bar to order your drinks and food (or catch a server who is walking the floor). You are given a beeper for when the food is ready. Beside the informality, both the beer and food are outstanding! We tried a few selections of beer - I liked the lighter. Many IPAs, and a good coffee/beer. For food, we had the nachos, as well as burger. Excellent. Also, the ramen of the day was really delicious. Big surprise - the food is great for those (like my wife) who are allergic to onion as they do not cook with onion. I think the only area I would improve, is the need to go to bar for beers and to cash out. When cashing out, we waited for quite some time as the servers were in a conversation. That was annoying. Maybe it can be set up so that we go to a kiosk, enter our card # and name, and see our bill to checkout. Will definitely be visiting again! read more

Stopped in for coffee,breakfast sandwiches and beer. All three were excellent. Seems like it would be a good place to watch the Premier League games as they open early and have the above three options for eating and drinking. Just stopped in for the first time while visiting family. The location is a little hidden but the have large flags outside pointing you in the direction. I came when they were having 2 dollar beers which I don't know anywhere you can get a $2 CRAFT beer. The setup is nice with upstairs seating/boards games/and outdoor accommodations for nicer weather. Also, I got the burrito which was awesome and the service was quick and friendly. Will definitely be back sometime this week! read more

2 stars food, 4 stars service, 5 stars beer, 2 stars patio setting. Price is normal. Stopped in for early Tuesday lunch. Java Stout was wonderful. Sun Cakes (corn cakes topped with braised beef) was unique in concept but underwhelming in flavor. Corn cakes patties consisted of corn meal mush with bits of corn kernels and queso fresco--I like this sort of thing but it was rather bland-needed some salt, maybe a hint of cheddar. Each (3) was fried to a nice brown. A bland cake warrants a braised beef topping with some tasty kick--nope. Braised beef tasted merely like very plain potroast. Bland-on-bland misses the mark. Great concept but would prefer more of a flavor explosion somewhere in this small plate. Several things not available on the menu due to 'busy weekend'. Would prefer to pay (and tip) after service. Had to pay up front and decide tip in advance of service. Seated on patio. Nice weather but frumpy low-effort look. Might be nicer at night with lights and frumpiness receding into shadows. Didn't help having delivery semi backed up nearby and unloading. Had more of a 'seated on the driveway near the garage' or 'seated behind the building' feel than 'seated on the patio.' Loud ventilation nearby. I'd go back for the beer. It was very good. read more

We were extremely impressed by the friendliness of the bartenders. Not being from the area they were very helpful with recommending other craft breweries we should hit while in the town. Have been here for both the beer and the coffee. First time just had drinks, but all food that passed by looked and smelled delicious. They had 4-5 beers on tap and a cider. I went back for coffee and pastry last week - coffee beans are roasted and ground there and assorted pastries from Le Bus. Nice atmosphere, they have WiFi if you need to work. Finally had food this week - ramen was delicious and I really enjoyed the New Exton IPA which was new to the beer menu. Great new spot! read more

I was meeting a friend here for lunch for the first time. I walked in to a gentleman explaining how the seating and menus work to a group of people in front of me. Once they'd been talen care of and I stepped up, he walked away. Everyone completely ignored me although the young lady behind the bar greeted every other person who walked through the door. It's a weird set up with no direction upon entry so I stood there literally in the middle of the floor for a bit waiting for someone to acknowledge my presence. After a while I left. My husband and I came for breakfast and although it has a limited selection of breakfast food what we ordered was really good. I had a breakfast sandwich. A hidden gem! My husband and I went on a whim for our anniversary, and it was wonderful. Even though it's not a typical "anniversary dinner" place, it was perfect for us. The food was unique and tasted amazing - the portions were huge! I especially loved the burrito, and my hubby's cheese steak was fantastic. But the best part was the beer, which was perfect for us. Two trips - one lunch and one diner - and both were a hit! It's a perfect combination of brewery, coffee shop and restaurant! And kids friendly at that! That is hard to achieve anywhere, specially with Victory nearby. Met the owner first time I was there. He lives in the area and understands the area and demographic perfectly and so not surprised at how good this place is doing. Food was really great! Brew - coffee and beer - was worth trying. I downloaded Yelp just to leave this place a review. My wife and I have been there twice before and we were kid free so we wanted to have a nice night. Get it. Get out. Head home. All of the staff (including the ones off duty) were so social and welcoming that we ended up staying well into the night just chatting and having a blast. I haven't been treat that well at a place in a long time. We talked about everything from the Bryan the bartender's new baby to ska music... and when you can throw ska music into a conversation... you have me for life. Just before we left, the GM Owen brew a little batch of coffee for us to taste and it was outstanding. We left a lot later than we planned just floored with how amazingly we were treated. I am so sad to have to give this place a one. We had been told to try Stolen Sun out because it was kid friendly. So, my family and two other families went to Stolen Sun today, a Sunday, and we had the entire upstairs to ourselves. It was a total of 6 adults and 6 kids ranging from 2-10. The food and drinks were good. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. However, about an hour in the 2 year old happily shrieked while playing upstairs (again we were the ONLY families upstairs) and there were less than 10 people total downstairs. To our surprise we heard a male voice yell up something about stopping the "yelling". We were taken back and my husband peered over. The man again said something about the "yelling". We were surprised that this man still had a problem given it was a happy shriek having fun with the Stolen Sun PROVIDED toys. We come to find out it was the Owner! He eventually came up and wasn't backing down that he didn't approve of the 2 year olds "yelling". After realizing the circumstances and being reminded that the kids were playing with Stolen Sun's provided toys, and they market themselves as "family friendly"- The owner was incredibly insincere trying to back down. We packed up and left. The owner didn't seem to mind. Good food, beer and wait staff... but not a place (oddly?!?) for families or at least conveyed by the owner :( read more

The beer quality and decent food are the only things keeping this place going. There is a lot of server confusion with no method behind anything. I heard servers behind the bar within ear shot of me and other customers talking badly about other customers! All while having their masks pulled down. There's longer than expected wait times from the kitchen but does look like it is a really small kitchen for such a big place. I have never posted a review on yelp before. I typically use it to read other people's reviews but felt the need to review this place. I was there last night for the first time and wow blown away is an understatement! We were immediately greeted by an employee (wish I asked for her name maybe one of the owners?) and given all the menus (beer, food and specials) and as soon as we told her it was our first time visiting - she went above and beyond and explained exactly how they do things: how to order, where to order, where to pick the food up, gave a little insight of their on site brewing and coffee roasting etc. I have never been to a place that took the time out to throughly explain what their passion is. Then the guy who took our order for beer and food was just as awesome - super helpful and accommodating and patient with us as we tried to figure out what we wanted. This I appreciate! I tried the New Exton IPA and the Rent Check IPA - both very good! We both got the Cali burritos per the recommendation of the cashier guy and the thievery fries and it did not disappoint whatsoever. Loved the atmosphere - loved the mezzanine seating upstairs. Seems like they have an awesome outdoor section too that I will definitely be checking on once the weather gets nicer. Happened upon this place while on a work trip. The beer was great. Tried several different beers and I was pleased with all of them. I was shocked by the food. The prices were great and the food was delicious. Jonathan (the owner) was very cool to talk with. Decided to grab a bag of coffee as I was leaving. Finally exton has a microbrewery!!! This is on par with anyplace in phoenixville and 20 minutes closer. Very nice space tons of room and ample parking. Excellent for viewing eagles games. Love the cask conditioned knucklehead. Had a flight of 3 beers and a cider. All were good. Had no food but plates coming out looked good. Also is a coffe house. The atmosphere, music, and colors inside, and the secluded, tree shaded space outside, really made Stolen Sun feel like an oasis in the middle of Exton. The food and beer were delicious. We had guacamole and chips to start and burgers with fries for our meal and loved everything. The kids also loved their chicken fingers. Our kids had a blast playing with the giant jenga and corn hole games outside, while we enjoyed a beautiful late summer day.
