    I've been wanting to try Stohrer since it's the oldest patisserie in Paris. The line was out the door, but moved very quickly. I got a little chocolate cake for 7.30 euros. It was super delicious and I liked all the layers to it. Definitely a bit pricey, but this place is super well known and popular. They have plenty of pastries and veinnoiseries available.

    One of the best bakeries in Paris we tried. The plain croissant and the pain au chocolat, a few macarons (chocolate, raspberry, pistachio) and everything was aaaahmazing!! This will def be a go-to spot in Paris!

    tl;dr the eclairs are delightful, but any treat among the pastry lineup is sure to be among Paris' finest As the oldest pâtisserie in Paris, Stohrer boasts a storied history. In 1730, Nicolas Stohrer (pastry chef to King Louis XV) opened his namesake shop on Rue Montorgueil, where it still stands to this day. Among his notable achievements, Stohrer is credited with creating the rum baba. Even after 3 centuries in the business, the original shop feels timeless rather than decrepit. Expect patrons to be snapping pics outside Stohrer's gold-on-navy storefront. The flashy interior, designed by nineteenth-century French painter Paul Baudry, is more fit for a palace than a pastry shop. Highlights of the classically Parisian decor motifs include the ornate chandelier and the aqua tiled floors. The brightly lit pastry case is bountifully stocked with cakes, tarts, macarons, and everything in between. I visited on a weekday afternoon, and Stohrer still boasted a sizeable clientele. The service was professional and efficient, and the staff spoke enough English to share some solid recommendations. I took my spoils back home to share. The Baba Chantilly -- Stohrer's signature, rum-soaked Baba au Rhum piped with vanilla cream -- was not for the abstinent. Each bite of chewy cake was like downing a shot of rum without the alcoholic burn. On this pastry, I found the vanilla cream to be a superfluous addition. In contrast, the Saint Honore Vanille was vanilla-centric, highlighted by Bourbon vanilla custard and whipped cream. The glazed pastry puffs were just icing on the cake. The eclairs were probably the best I've ever enjoyed, piped with a gelato-smooth filling and topped with a well-distributed glaze. We preferred the boldly espresso-y Eclair au Café, but the deeply dark aqua-tiled Eclair au Chocolat was a delicious alternative. The personal-sized pastries cost upwards of 5 euros: a pittance for some of Paris' best. If you have time for only a single pâtisserie, Stohrer is a strong contender. While I strongly recommend the eclairs, Stohrer has a wide enough selection for even the pickiest of pastry-goers.

    Delicious chocolates! We got some chocolates to go, including a milk chocolate with praline topping that was so rich and delicious. I also brought some chocolates to bring home. The store is very charming and even when there is a long line, it moves quickly. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

    Citron is my absolute favorite. I'm not a huge fan of eclairs but decided to try this one- it was okay.

    This is apparently the oldest patisserie in Paris! I found this spot online while looking for a pastry shop to go to on my last morning in the city. This popped up as a spot to visit, and I was sold. All the pastries looked so beautiful, but I had my eyes set on trying the kouign amann and had to resist the temptation for the others. I ended up taking it with me and bringing it onto my flight. When I ended up eating it, it was still fantastic! It was so extremely flakey, buttery, and had just the right amount of sweet glaze on the outside. Definitely one of the best, if not the best kouign amann I've had. The shop is also decorated really nicely inside and they also sell massive macarons! A great spot to visit :)

    I follow a dermatologist on Instagram who has made a few trips to Paris. On her last trip she shared her experience buying some treats in Paris, including a chocolate eclair from Stohrer which she highly recommended. Naturally, on my recent trip to Paris I knew I had to give it a try. It is situated in the middle of this beautifully lit up street with many other small businesses. Right near the entrance is a sign detailing the roots of the business, dating back to the early 1700s! There was a bit of a line but it moved quite fast. I was worried the eclairs would be gone but there was plenty on display. I ordered and and was given the eclair in one of the pretty to go boxes I've ever seen. Outside, I perched up in the first spot I could find and gave the eclair a try! It was very delicious, not too sweet, and had the perfect texture. It didn't take me very long to finish it. It was a rather brief experience I had at Stohrer but I did enjoy it and felt it was worth going back to! If you're checking this pastry shop out it's definitely worth a try.

    Ordered a bunch of items - a macaron, apple tarte, pan au chocolat, a honey chocolate tart, and a white chocolate ball. Overall, everything was delicious, but the service left room for improvement. They're rushing you out as soon as you walk in - even if you're still ordering like I was. Overall, yummy, but perhaps go when it's not crowded so you can peacefully pick your poison.

    Very beautiful bakery with many options and affordable prices. They gave us free chocolate samples too. I got a pain au chocolat and it was delicious and loved that it came warm!

    The oldest patisserie in Paris ! SO beautiful inside and the pastries all looked amazing. I ended up ordering a slice of flan and a plain croissant. I have to say I was underwhelmed by the croissant because it wasn't crispy enough, however the flan was delish.

    I want it all. Everything we've tried has been amazing. Most memorable was the citrus tart. Such strong lime flavor, it was like having a mojito. The kouign amann was flaky and buttery as it should be. Of all the bakeries we've tried while visiting Paris, Stohrer has been my favorite. This is a take out only place, wish it had tables and chairs.

    Saw several blogs say Stohrer had the best croissants in Paris, so we had to check it out! I'm not sure that it was the best croissant we had, but it was very good. We also got the "tarte au citron" which had a delicious, tart and citrusy flavor, I really enjoyed it! They also had a ton of other cute cakes at little pastries that I hope to go back and try!

The thing is, Denise Acabo is not shady about pushing chocolate on you; she is not a corrupt saleswoman. What makes it so easy to spend money is the joy radiating from her as she describes every piece of chocolate, and as you listen to her describe the chocolate too fast to understand with your high school french... you realize that you, too, want that same joy... and maybe- just maybe- if you eat as much chocolate as her, you will get to experience it too.

Do not forget to grab a few of those Bernachon bars - your family/friends would be very lucky to receive those from you. However, if they don't want it, let me know and I'll take them off your hands. :) Try the Kalouga, Mendiant, Mocha...oh heck try them all!! They also carry fabulous Caramel Buerre Sale! Service is great and the place is jam packed with treasures. Worth the visit!!
