The first time I saw this place, I noted the ridiculous line outside (there were at least 6 people pouring out of the entrance onto the street). We had just arrived at our Airbnb which was (awesomely enough) located right across the street.
We finally got the chance to try it out and luckily only had 1 person ahead of us. Also, we found out why they had a line: the standing space (no sitting space) inside is quite small... perhaps enough to (comfortably) accommodate 4 people or so. If someone wants to lean over to inspect some goodies, then let's just decrease that to 3 people.
They have your normal fare at a boulangerie: breads, drinks, and pastries. I honestly didn't know what to get and they didn't have the almond croissant on my first visit. We ended up getting a Pain au Chocolat and a Chausson aux Pommes (think apple turnover). Both were delicious and the chausson aux pommes was perfectly flakey (the crumbs decorated my top beautifully as I was eating and walking) and sweetened. The apple filling was more like of an apple sauce consistency (I made a note of this because it deliciously/worryingly oozed out of the side with every bite). Our second visit, we got the almond croissant (Croissant Amande) and the Brioche Suisse. I actually wanted something a little more savory and had my eye on the vegetable quiche, but found out there was onion in it, so I sadly passed. Plus, there was a line forming behind us and the lady helping us know little to no English so I didn't want to continue questioning her. As a note, we're vegetarian, but don't eat onions, garlic, leeks, or chives (it's fun finding savory foods in Paris, let me tell you - even the cheese isn't vegetarian). The almond croissant was absolutely amazing. GET IT. It isn't as flakey as the original croissant, but it was delicious and filled to the brim with almond paste. The brioche suisse is basically chocolate and cream stuffed in brioche and it was also quite delicious. The bread was tender, lightly sweetened, and soft and the filling was good (I mean, how can you go wrong with chocolate and cream?).
In the end, from what we have tried thus far, the food is great and the price is very reasonable. Perhaps we may even go again for a quick to-go breakfast. If we do, I'll update this again.
Summary: delicious pastries at a great price... get the almond croissant (but everything is really good so you can't go wrong). It's a small place, so don't let the line (if there is one) stop you. The staff don't seem to know much English, but they're nice enough. They will move to the next person while you're trying to use the translator on your phone, though, in order to try to shorten the line. It seems like a good amount of their customers are regulars. If I lived in Paris, I could totally see myself being a regular as well. read more
