George, the owner, knows his stuff by heart and if you ask he will patiently explain the difference between the 4 different types of salted caramels he stocks or the detailed history of each sweet. Of course, it's slightly more expensive than what you'll get from the supermarket but the sweets at Le Bonbon au Palais are so much better you really can't compare them to Haribo's industrial crap! Whenever I go to Paris, I pick up several boxes for myself, and some for friends. The boxes are so pretty and whimsical, I've been known to save them and use to hold small notecards or whatever. My favorite are the dark chocolates, but I also enjoy their milk chocolate because it is not too sweet. Each piece is small, and I find that having one or two in the evening is enough to satisfy my craving. A box lasts several weeks as I savor them slowly.
