I contacted Cardinal, which proposed replacing the dead compressor as well as a few other small but aging parts in my otherwise excellent existing system. Upon receiving the compressor, Pablo the managing technician, came over an did the technically challenging tasks of retrofitting the heat pump to work with the new compressor, installing new parts to rejuvenate the system, and waiting patiently for the system to optimize before turning it on. Overall, wirking with Cardinal allowed me to save my existing system, while making improvements at the same time. This saved me several thousands of dollars and preserved an HVAC ystem I already liked.

I had three ceiling fans installed in upstairs bedrooms, two of them at new locations, meaning they had to run wire, install the ceiling fan box, etc. There was no attic which made things a bit more challenging. The team of 2 finished the work in about 4 hours or so ... Ryan made an effort to cut as little drywall as they could, which I very much appreciated. The team wore shoe covers, which I noticed they removed and put back on as they came in and out of the house, and cleaned up after the job very well. Will definitely use them again when I need more electrical work. Update: There was a *very small* issue with one of the fans which I discovered a few weeks after the install, so small that I almost felt bad about asking them to correct it... I used a highly rated company (C1) found on Yelp in the spring to turn on my boiler. They…read morecouldn't. They told me that I had to have the gas company to turn the gas on. They also charged me for cleaning. When the heating season came, I had the gas turned on, I called C1 again to get my boiler turned on. They still couldn't bug quitedc me to replace both valves for $4k or get a new boiler for $8500. OHA was the second company came to give me a diagnostic. Mr Bryan discovered that the water pipes were completely empty and found a spot on the radiator where the pipes were disconnected. No wonder the boiler won't turn on! However, OHA doesn't repair radiator pipes so he left me this valuable information without charging me a penny! I found a 3rd company came to repair the valves and saved thousands from the 1st company. Forever thankful for Mr Bryan!

But in cases where negligence or incompetence can be dangerous, I take the time. I hired Andrew to add a new junction box to hang a chandelier in our kitchen. At the time I thought everything worked out great--he came out promptly and did the install while we waited for our fixture to arrive. However, when we prepared to hang the fixture ourselves, I realized he installed an "old work" style box that can't support more than 6lbs and isn't designed for ceiling fixtures. Most people (including me!) would never have known the difference except that I had to switch out another light a few weeks prior and did some research into what equipment I needed. I would expect a licensed electrician to know this, but in good faith I assumed it was a mistake. After a week of texts and phone calls, he finally responded and offered to put in the correct junction box. Then he never showed up for our appointment and quit replying to my messages. That was more than a month ago, so I assume he has no intention of returning. Unless you have the electrical expertise to supervise Andrew's work, I would strongly suggest you hire someone else with more competence and/or integrity. Or be prepared for fixtures to potentially come crashing down on you and your family.
