From scheduling around my busy schedule to Travis arriving and doing a great job, I am very pleased with my Provident Electric experience.

I was having problems with some of my outlets and Travis was able to diagnose and correct the issue pretty quickly. I'm highly impressed with his knowledge and skill level and professionalism. Highly recommend. The price was fair and I was able to get service rather quickly. My go to company for electrical issues. read more

Larry and his team at Provident are some of the most honest, knowledgeable and thoughtful contractors I've encountered in a long time. They take ownership of their projects, and pride in their work. Not to mention their office staff are the BEST! If you have any electrical needs - big or small - and are in Frederick County or the surrounding area - give Provident electric a call!! read more

I called at night for an emergency service visit due to an electrical issue and was told their "emergency" service charge is $500 for the initial hour and $250 per hour after that. Absolute robbery. I called Michael & Sons and they charge $179 for 24/7 response. I don't mind paying extra for a nighttime, off-hour visit, but I despise businesses that take advantage and just try to rob customers. I am putting Provident on my DO NOT HIRE list and will advise anyone who asks to do the same. Provident, you should be ashamed of your unethical business model. read more

We recently purchased a Generac whole-house generator and the associated installation services from Provident Electric in Middletown, MD. Larry personally came out and worked with us to size the generator and scope out and plan the workflow. The installation process was carried out smoothly and efficiently, with the team of technicians displaying a high level of professionalism and expertise. They were able to complete the installation within the agreed-upon timeframe, and the system was up and running in no time. The technicians also took the time to explain how the system worked and provided detailed instructions on how to operate and maintain it. We have been extremely satisfied with the services provided by Provident Electric. Larry, Liz and the team of technicians were all professional, knowledgeable, responsive and courteous. The Generac system meets/exceeds all of our requirements for standby power. We would highly recommend Larry and the entire Provident team! read more

The Electric Detectives Saved the Day! Provident was able to come out within an hour of my call and locate the source of the low battery beeping in my house (it wasn't the smoke detector as I thought). Problem solved! Professional, polite and fairly priced. Highly recommended! read more

Having gotten quotes from other YELP "5-star" vendors in my area, Provident Electric proved to be the BEST OF THE BEST! From initial project estimate and consultation to installation; every step of the process was exceptional. The estimate provided by Larry was comprehensive; he BOTH reviewed overall power usage/needs by walking my property AND by speaking with my wife and me about our project goals and daily power needs. I received a MUCH BETTER quote than other vendors and even got a MORE POWERFUL generator than the "others" said I needed...YET THE OVERALL PRICE WAS LESS!!! Our generator was ordered and arrived much quicker than we could have expected. The installation team called ahead and arrived on time during BOTH days of the installation. They kept us abreast of the installation plan and daily progress. They made us feel VERY comfortable with the equipment that was installed and EASILY answered all of our questions. Professinalism, Experince and Genuine care for the customer are a rareity in business these days (unfortunately). When you find it...you are SUPER appreciative. We certainly are grateful to Provident Electric for an entirely positive experience. Well done! read more

Provident Electric - Electricians Near Me - Middletown, Maryland

I hardly ever write reviews, but in this case must. Provident Electric has always been an outstanding service provider for me in Lake Linganore, MD. Friendly, professional, timely and skilled. They really helped me out this week when my HVAC died, showing up within 30 minutes, diagnosing the problem, and fixing it early the next morning after getting the right part. I can't recommend them highly enough! read more

Great service! Talked to Cassy and larry was out to see the issues we were having and got us back in no time! We've also had jeremy come out and add some ceiling fans couldn't be more happy with there quality of service! read more

I had Provident install a generator at my home. The technicians were phenomenal, everything seemed to go smooth and great and I was very pleased. I recently had an inspector come out to inspect the home as we are selling, and according to the inspector, whoever was responsible for permits did not even put the generator on the permit! the main item! There were other items missing on the permit such as 20a connectors. when I called in I could not reach anybody and when I did the "permit specialist" was zero help. It was always "let me get with Larry or let me get with XYZ. despite them doing what they could to resolve it, I believe there is some sketchy and illegal activity going on at this company. If you choose to go with them be sure to be on your P's & Q's! read more

BIG thanks to Larry, Jake, & Marla for the very quick turnaround on our service needs. Provident's customer service is excellent! Provident installed our Generac Generator a few years ago, and we just experienced a problem with the transfer switches for our HVAC units causing our AC compressors to not function....leaving us without AC in the heat of summer. Larry immediately returned my call, assessed the problem, and dispatched Jake to take care of the issue on the same day. We appreciate working with you and highly recommend your personalized team of professionals. Thanks again! read more

Excellent, prompt service! They came out twice when I moved into my new house. The first time, Jeremy came out to install a new outlet for my dryer and give me an estimate on the larger job of installing 5 new outlets in my unfinished basement. Then a second electrician (whose name escapes me, now) came about a week later to do the larger job. Both times, the guys were on time, polite, efficient, friendly, and knew their business. Whenever I spoke to anyone in the office they were also super-friendly and helpful. Overall, a great experience! I highly recommend them and will use them for any future electrical needs. read more

We have been using them for a couple years since buying our house in Frederick County. They are fabulous - responsive, professional, proactive. Our garage door opener stopped working as did the lights in the garage earlier this week - meaning we couldn't get the car out. We called and they sent someone within the hour to fix the problem. read more

I called after hours. Larry called me that evening. He came the next morning, first thing. Had a problem getting a brand new dryer hooked up. Larry (owner) came out first thing, Diagnosed the problem and took care of it in short order. They told me over the phone the hourly charge which took me back. When he got the bill ready, he said it was an easy fix and didn't even charge me the full standard price. He said that it was an easy fix and didn't take much time. That is quite rare. That says something about his Character, and how he runs his company. I made sure I took his card and will use again for sure! read more

Jeremy is the best electrician I have met. He is super punctual, professional, friendly, helpful, and quite easy to work with. He and his assistants did an excellent and outstanding job on my basement remodeling. I was very impressed by the high quality of his work and his exceptional attention to detail. More important, his overall price is fair and reasonable. I strongly recommend his services and will glad to call him back for other projects. read more

Phenomenal Electrical Company! Exceptional, quality service who went above and beyond are a few words to describe this awesome company. I called them on very short notice (due to a home sale) on Thanksgiving week and their electrician came in on a day off to help make an electrical bonding and grounding fix prior to closing. This personal service is almost impossible to find and is so valuable and appreciated. They showed up exactly when they said they would be there, took COVID precautions, kept a clean workspace, did a great job in a short amount of time. Call this company if you need the best! Chris was extremely knowledgeable, professional and very personable. We feel very blessed to have you as our electricians! Thank You Provident electric! Thank You Michelle! Thank You Chris! We hired Provident to run a 240V circuit to our hot tub. This was a simple job, which Provident messed up twice, and nearly three times. When their sales rep first came out, he explained that they would run a conduit from my garage to the tub, along the joists of my unfinished deck. However, when the crew came out to do the job, they insisted on burying the conduit around the perimeter of the house and deck. This entailed tearing up a bunch of lawn unnecessarily, and after all that, the county inspector would not approve the job because the electricians had filled in their trench before having it inspected. Provident agreed, reasonably, to redo the job correctly. The next crew out wanted to place the GFCI box WITHIN five feet of the tub - code clearly says it needs to be AT LEAST five feet away. The "compromise" location at exactly five feet satisfied the inspector, but didn't inspire confidence in Provident's expertise. Finally, the electrician that came out to do the final wiring forgot to connect the neutral line from the tub to the GFCI, so the GFCI immediately tripped when powered. This basic error required a fifth visit from Provident, and had us initially blaming the spa vendor (and nearly paying for an unnecessary service call from them). Any one of these mistakes could be forgiven as an occasional slip up; having all three happen on one small, straightforward job is more concerning. The representative we worked with was very polite and apologetic about the errors, and I believe Provident is an honest company. Their reviews have been good historically; we simply may not have gotten them at their best. read more

I manage a very big storage facility that had several electrical issues going on. I called so many companies in the area and was disappointed every times when they told me they could not help. I called Providential and spoke with Larry who quickly asked if I had problems getting answers from other places. He then explained why. Finally someone who could explain to me what was going on and how he could fix it! Larry has been very helpful and we look forward to working with Larry and Provident for the years to come. read more

After losing a portion of power in my house today, including the dreaded refrigerator, I was literally heading out to Lowe's to purchase a GFCI (and tester) but decided to do ONE THING before doing so...I Googled local electricians who have 24 hour service. Well, the gods were smiling on me because I hit the jackpot with one VERY nice man named Larry, the owner of Provident Electric. He asked a lot of questions, had me text him a photo, offered his input and--voila! I am back up and running!! He COULD have told me that he doesn't give advice, he COULD have told me that, for an after hours call, he'd require an upfront payment. Instead? He helped me just as a good electrical Samaritan. KUDOS TO LARRY!!! I am thrilled to have called him and, honestly, it doesn't matter if it was a simple issue or a complicated one. The fact is that I called on a SATURDAY, it was after hours, he didn't have to answer and things could have gone a different direction but they didn't. On the basis of this one call to him, I now will not hesitate to contact him again if I need *real* electrical services. read more

For years we experienced multiple power outages and decided our next house would have a whole house generator. We built our new house and planned from the beginning to have a whole house generator. Not knowing where to turn, Generac sent us to Larry at Provident Electric. Larry came out within 2 days of our call and guided us through all of the options. Larry is professional, knowledgeable, and above all, very trustworthy. We settled on our generator and planned for its installation. Larry worked with our GC and made it happen. Now that we had a generator, we assumed we would probably not have to use it. That assumption went out the window after last night. A micro burst with lightning, hail, thunder and winds up to 80-90mph ripped through our rural neighborhood. Several trees knocked down the power lines at 4am. In less than 10 seconds the Generac automatically kicked on and power was restored. I was so appreciative of the fact that during this national and worldwide time of crisis we had power and not only for ourselves but for our neighbors as well. The power was finally restored at 5pm. Big shout out to all the crews who worked all morning and day to make that happen. Throughout the process of our home build Larry, his wife and entire team were always available whenever I called upon them. It is my privilege to call Larry a friend and we now consider Larry and his family part of ours. We highly recommend Provident Electric and the Generac Generator. My father always says it is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Today couldn't have been more true. Thanks again Larry!!! read more

If you're looking for an honest electrical company, look no more. Larry is completely honest and I can't recommend him high enough. He had a prime opportunity to not only charge me for a service call but to charge for parts and labor on a very simple fix. He walked me through it over the phone when other electrical companies were more than happy to come to my home and charge me for the service call and God only knows what else. Thanks Larry! You're the best! read more

Provident Electric was professional, prompt, and thorough with my generator. They installed a Generac 22KW generator (whole house), which has already been used 2 twice. Great GUYS !! the entire process from estimate of my new back up generator, could not have gone better. During the estimate, we went over everything I wanted covered by the generator and I was offered some helpful suggestions. The price I was given was great and we were able to get the generator a lot faster than I expected. The guys handling the install were friendly and knowledgeable. They went over the operation of the generator and spent time explaining how the entire system works. Will use for future work! read more

I was happy with the service I received from Provident Elec. Joel and Emerson came out and quickly got to work moving an internet cable from one side of the house to another. I would definitely recommend this company! Joel and his assistant, Tucker, came to my house to install wiring for and, eventually, the fan itself. They were extremely nice and professional. This company knows how to please a customer! I am so glad I went with them! I heard sounds coming from our breaker panel and contacted them. The owner himself came out to determine the cause and decided to replace 3 breakers because they were warm to the touch. Then unfortunately a few days later I heard a cracking sound (not as obvious) coming from panel again. I determined it was the dryer breaker this time and they came out within a few hours after calling them and replaced that breaker free of charge!!!! Seriously, this company makes me feel safe knowing I can reach them at anytime with my electrical issues and not afraid of sounding "crazy" by the noises I hear. I can not speak highly enough of the work team I had. Joel, Craig, and Larry (the owner) are nothing short of an amazing company team. I will be calling them again for sure! read more

When we moved an older home , one of our first orders of business was to replace the unsafe electric panel and correct some other wiring issues. I was referred to Provident electric by a friend who had had quite a bit of work done by them in the past and gave them a call. They were prompt, courteous, thorough, and fairly priced; excellent in every way. Not surprisingly, when we were ready to add some recessed lights and a ceiling fan, we called again to get the work done. Have you ever had that Panic moment where you need something done but you're not really sure you need something done but you're not really sure who to talk to or who to trust? I shorted a light in a fan and look out the power in the upper floor of a rental property. I had a tenant moving in the next day and absolutely panicked and realized I needed the entire fan to be replaced. I made several phone calls, was told about all of the emergency fees I was going to be paying with most companies and some tried to convince me that I may have caused more damage than just a fan replacement. But speaking with Larry made all of the panic go away. He told me to go buy a fan and have it ready for his guys to replace, he was able to squeeze me in on a first morning appointment given my circumstances, he was very calming and reassuring that his guys would be competent enough to take care of the problem no matter how big or small. And he was right. They were very professional, quite hilarious actually, and made it an easy and seamless process. If you're not sure who to trust or where to go for your electric needs I would call this company again and again and confidently say that you can too. The skill level and the kindness make it easy to do that. Thanks again for saving my tail and for being so fair (price wise) in how you did it. read more
