I called at night for an emergency service visit due to an electrical issue and was told their "emergency" service charge is $500 for the initial hour and $250 per hour after that. Absolute robbery. I called Michael & Sons and they charge $179 for 24/7 response. I don't mind paying extra for a nighttime, off-hour visit, but I despise businesses that take advantage and just try to rob customers. I had Provident install a generator at my home. The technicians were phenomenal, everything seemed to go smooth and great and I was very pleased. I recently had an inspector come out to inspect the home as we are selling, and according to the inspector, whoever was responsible for permits did not even put the generator on the permit! the main item! There were other items missing on the permit such as 20a connectors. when I called in I could not reach anybody and when I did the "permit specialist" was zero help. It was always "let me get with Larry or let me get with XYZ. despite them doing what they could to resolve it, I believe there is some sketchy and illegal activity going on at this company. Excellent, prompt service! They came out twice when I moved into my new house. The first time, Jeremy came out to install a new outlet for my dryer and give me an estimate on the larger job of installing 5 new outlets in my unfinished basement. Then a second electrician (whose name escapes me, now) came about a week later to do the larger job. Both times, the guys were on time, polite, efficient, friendly, and knew their business. I called after hours. Larry called me that evening. He came the next morning, first thing. Had a problem getting a brand new dryer hooked up. Larry (owner) came out first thing, Diagnosed the problem and took care of it in short order. They told me over the phone the hourly charge which took me back. When he got the bill ready, he said it was an easy fix and didn't even charge me the full standard price. He said that it was an easy fix and didn't take much time. That is quite rare. We hired Provident to run a 240V circuit to our hot tub. This was a simple job, which Provident messed up twice, and nearly three times. When their sales rep first came out, he explained that they would run a conduit from my garage to the tub, along the joists of my unfinished deck. However, when the crew came out to do the job, they insisted on burying the conduit around the perimeter of the house and deck. This entailed tearing up a bunch of lawn unnecessarily, and after all that, the county inspector would not approve the job because the electricians had filled in their trench before having it inspected. Provident agreed, reasonably, to redo the job correctly. The next crew out wanted to place the GFCI box WITHIN five feet of the tub - code clearly says it needs to be AT LEAST five feet away. The "compromise" location at exactly five feet satisfied the inspector, but didn't inspire confidence in Provident's expertise. Finally, the electrician that came out to do the final wiring forgot to connect the neutral line from the tub to the GFCI, so the GFCI immediately tripped when powered. This basic error required a fifth visit from Provident, and had us initially blaming the spa vendor (and nearly paying for an unnecessary service call from them). Any one of these mistakes could be forgiven as an occasional slip up; having all three happen on one small, straightforward job is more concerning. The representative we worked with was very polite and apologetic about the errors, and I believe Provident is an honest company. Their reviews have been good historically; we simply may not have gotten them at their best. read more

For years we experienced multiple power outages and decided our next house would have a whole house generator. We built our new house and planned from the beginning to have a whole house generator. Not knowing where to turn, Generac sent us to Larry at Provident Electric. Larry came out within 2 days of our call and guided us through all of the options. Larry is professional, knowledgeable, and above all, very trustworthy. We settled on our generator and planned for its installation. Larry worked with our GC and made it happen. Now that we had a generator, we assumed we would probably not have to use it. That assumption went out the window after last night. A micro burst with lightning, hail, thunder and winds up to 80-90mph ripped through our rural neighborhood. Several trees knocked down the power lines at 4am. In less than 10 seconds the Generac automatically kicked on and power was restored. I was so appreciative of the fact that during this national and worldwide time of crisis we had power and not only for ourselves but for our neighbors as well. The power was finally restored at 5pm. Big shout out to all the crews who worked all morning and day to make that happen. Throughout the process of our home build Larry, his wife and entire team were always available whenever I called upon them. This company knows how to please a customer! I am so glad I went with them! I heard sounds coming from our breaker panel and contacted them. The owner himself came out to determine the cause and decided to replace 3 breakers because they were warm to the touch. Then unfortunately a few days later I heard a cracking sound (not as obvious) coming from panel again. I determined it was the dryer breaker this time and they came out within a few hours after calling them and replaced that breaker free of charge!!!! Seriously, this company makes me feel safe knowing I can reach them at anytime with my electrical issues and not afraid of sounding "crazy" by the noises I hear. Have you ever had that Panic moment where you need something done but you're not really sure you need something done but you're not really sure who to talk to or who to trust? I shorted a light in a fan and look out the power in the upper floor of a rental property. I had a tenant moving in the next day and absolutely panicked and realized I needed the entire fan to be replaced. I made several phone calls, was told about all of the emergency fees I was going to be paying with most companies and some tried to convince me that I may have caused more damage than just a fan replacement. But speaking with Larry made all of the panic go away. He told me to go buy a fan and have it ready for his guys to replace, he was able to squeeze me in on a first morning appointment given my circumstances, he was very calming and reassuring that his guys would be competent enough to take care of the problem no matter how big or small. And he was right. They were very professional, quite hilarious actually, and made it an easy and seamless process.
