DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Bought a TV from Amazon on 11/5. Per Amazon tracking, Stewart moving received the TV on 11/19. I received 1 message from them and I called them back. Talked to Carrie. She assured me the TV would be delivered today, 12/16. That never happened. I called again today and she completely lied about what our actual conversation was about. Then she lied and said they left 2 messages for me and I never called back. I never received more than 1 message from them, which I called them back. In fact, I had left 2 voicemails for them and they never called me back. She then tried to say my voicemail was full, not the case, she was grasping at straws to do whatever she could to blame me. I just wanted my TV. Holding on to people's purchased property for a month, little to no communication, then adding insult to injury, lying. I told her to send the TV back, I do not want it. I will never buy a large item from Amazon for delivery to Jackson Hole again because I do not want to deal with these people. read more

Coming from a local real estate agent.. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Not only did we receive AWEFUL service.. we were charged $600 more than the original estimate, to add insult to injury! Will detail issues with them below: -We had numerous experiences walking into rooms and seeing the movers sitting and looking at their phones, watching videos, talking to friends/family (not what you want to see when being charged by the hour)... One of the employees has since told me that "some of our crews are just lazy." Can confirm. -Our kitchen table was damaged and no attempt at rebuilding, the primary bed wasn't rebuilt, and our Ikea dresser is still in 50 pieces w no initial attempt to put it back together. -We were never informed by the estimator that they would not put boxes in our pull-down attic at the final destination, which has left us with TONS of boxes we now have to deal with ourselves. -There seemed to be a great loss of morale around 9:30/10pm when they couldn't get ahold of their boss for something they needed (apparently had already gone to sleep), which seemed to slow progress even more at the end. -Multiple items were left at the original location (7 large tubs of clothes & a desk). NO walkthrough with us before leaving. Intead, they just informed us that they were done and left for the next destination without double checking with us that they'd gotten everything. -When the crew left the original destination, my wife stayed back and continued to clean and sweep and load up her car and our 6 wk old baby for another 30-45 minutes, and then passed your crew at a gas station (not even at a gas pump... just in the parking lot) on her way to meet them at the final destination - and she still arrived 15-20 minutes before the crew did. The crew told me the delay had something to do with a "family emergency". The customer service person, John, is a complete jerk.. good luck getting anywhere with him! Administrative personnel responded quickly to inquiries, and I was able to get my move set up within a few weeks. Professional and personable movers; they worked hard on one of the hottest days of the year! Managed my complex move (items from one house to another and from two houses to two storage units) with ease. Handled my furniture - including a large glass curio cabinet, heavy gun safe, and 100+ year old desk - with care. Pre-moving updates and post-move follow-up much appreciated. They stored our furniture for 2 years in a "climate controlled " facility but we had several items that melted! They damaged over $3,000 worth of furniture and belongings and they offered us $0.60 per pound. Never use them!!! I can not tell you how awful they are! We have moved all over the US and never experienced anything like this. I wish I had gone on Yelp before using Stewart Moving and Storage...looks like we were not the only ones extremely disappointed in their lack of service!! The lack of communication, bait and switch maneuvers, misquoting, unfulfilled promises,damage to my belongings, unprofessionalIsm, unexperienced movers I've ever experienced. Constantly passing you off to someone else. Rarely responding to emails if ever. No accountability. Pay extra for replacement - what a joke. Most of the damaged items were paid pennies on the dollar even with the extra coverage. And when I filed my claim for damages...I was told that I would have to wait for mine to process as claims were handled in the order that they were received. FOUR MONTHS LATER. Omg! They will promise 1 day to pack, 1 to load. Show up 2-4 hours late all 4 days (yep) with a truck that's too small on day 2, and act surprised when it's full on day 3. They WILL NOT crate your sensitive items, as per their contract (with extra fees). They will unload your items at their warehouse, move it around, damage and lose items. They will load onto another truck and make this crew search for your items. You will be missing items, that are listed on THEIR inventory. They will break items due to poor packing, then tell you that 'that item wasn't listed in any box' well, neither was every peice of silverware, so.. They will write you an insult of a check. The furniture repair contractor will lie to you for them to reduce Stewart's liability. IF you complain enough, you will get a second insult of a check. We only received 1 of 2 boxes of family heirloom crystal, listed right on their pack lists. The list goes on and on. 20 (!!) line items on our initial claim, they repaired 6, stiffed us on the rest. This company survives on Gov't moves, and doesn't pay out insurance losses, uncle Sam does. So why should they care or try. These people are con-artists and theives. Avoid at all costs. Grew up as an Army brat, joined The Corps, married a Sailor. 12+ moves in my lifetime, without a doubt the absolute worst of my life. As far as my breakables everything made it. The pack crew was very professional and courteous. Showed up on time. I've moved eight times in 15 years, and I'm always skeptical of moving companies. I've had moving companies damage my stuff, not show up on time, poorly communicate about pricing, or just engage in unethical practices. Stewart Moving was COMPLETELY AMAZING start to finish. I called and spoke to a representative who said they would send out a specialist to give us a custom quote; none of the other companies that I called offered that service. Kassie came out and walked us through what the price would be and how we could potentially save money with things we could do ourselves in preparation for the move. From that point, Amanda coordinated the move with me perfectly, answering all of my questions and ensuring that I was aware of all updates. On the move day itself, the team came on time and finished in only five hours. Joe, Francisco, Desmond, and Alex were very efficient, friendly, and were careful with our things. I made sure to tip them well (tip your movers!) because they were the BEST moving team I have ever had. I will be using this company exclusively in the future for any other moves that I need to make. This is perhaps the worst company I have every dealt with. Ensure you read the fine print. On our inventory sheets, they marked BRAND NEW WASHER AND DRYERS as being crushed, damaged, and unusable. They were in their original packaging and arrived just fine, however, they movers will invent issues on the inventory sheets. They continuously changed dates and times of packing and shipping then, said they were in a hurry due to child issues so we rushed and signed the packaging list. I am military and these guys were assigned to do my pack out.. This was my 9th move in the military and by far the absolute worst. Angela was the supervisor on site and extremely rude. She made it clear they were leaving at a certain time and they ran out of boxes even though her crew requested more packing material. She refused to list all my high value items because she didn't consider them high value. I had over $6k in damages and some high value items were "lost." Never again, I requested these guys get black listed on military contracts. It doesn't get much worse than this! read more

I used Stewart a few years ago for a move and it was great. I used them for storage over several years, and the customer service has always been topnotch. So of course I used them again for a recent move, and it was a completely different, and bad, experience. Stewart uses contractors for some moves, and sometimes, those contractors don't show up, which is what happened to us. This resulted in the movers not showing up until 12:30 on the day of the move; movers were supposed to show up between 8 and 10. I called at 10 and was told they'd be there in 30 minutes. I called at least two more times after an hour had passed and still no truck, and no one answered, so I didn't get an explanation as to what was going on to cause the delay or when the truck would arrive. The two men who did show up were as courteous and hardworking as could be. However, one of them wasn't a mover (he said he usually works in the warehouse), so it seemed like it was taking longer than it should have to complete the move. Things didn't wrap up until nearly 11 that night (this was a local move from a 2-bedroom house, so not that much to move). And that was with two more guys who were called in to help finish unloading the truck at the new place. Plus, there's extensive damage to the walls in the staircase from, I assume, some pieces of furniture scraping as they were carried down in the old place. When I pushed back on the total final charges, given what the experience was and that it wasn't our fault, I was appalled at the response, especially considering the business I've given them over several years. I was told that they could've charged us more for the extra crew members, but they didn't, and the fact that they even considered charging us for that is infuriating. And it really isn't about the money (the difference between the estimated cost and the final cost was minimal), but I couldn't believe that this is how we, as repeat customers, were treated. At no point during the day of the move did anyone from management explain to us what was going on. When we moved a few years ago, someone stopped by during the move to check in with us and see how things were going. This time, no one reached out to apologize and explain (let alone just check in) until after I complained and pushed back. The lack of communication on the day of the move and then the response after complaining is why we'll never use or recommend Stewart again, after singing their praises over the past few years. read more

Do I have to rate this one star? Their movers were pretty efficient in the way in. However, as they unloaded, one of the guys was really lazy (claimed to be sick) and they were extremely rough. They took their sweet time unloading and went 2 hours over estimate before I argued and got them to cut back the number they wrote down. They completely ruined my grill, which was very easy to move (it had wheels you could roll it on). Instead, both arms got completely pulled out and it got so shaken up that it no longer works. We also lost about a dozen wine glasses due to their speed over care about keeping things I order. Too many boxes that were labeled "this end up" were really "this end down" when placed. The worst of all is when I filed a claim (only for the grill as I was willing to let the rest slide), they offered $24 in return, which is what I paid for a propane tank. Not nearly enough to replace my destroyed grill. Their claims department is hiding behind legal wording, but if you are this careless with someone's possessions, you should not be in business as a moving company. This is a despicable company to do business with and I urge everyone to stop doing business with them. Stay away and I'll be sure to let every other person I know moving to do the same. read more

This company was hired to move everything in my apartment when I got out of the Marine Corps. I would NOT recommend them. They sent two men. They showed up late, had inappropriate music playing, plugged their phones in the walls. They didn't leave till after midnight. Two dressers were gouged, decorations broken, tape on furniture, things were in random boxes from different rooms, and 6 boxes completely missing.. I've never written a bad review for anything but this was necessary. another company unloaded everything and said they have never seen anything like it... overall, COMPLETELY AWFUL! read more

I was EXTREMELY disappointed in this Company. I had thought they were their WORD. The office staff and men that work in their garage were very helpful, but when it came to the day of my move, they farmed my move North to New England to an unqualified Company simply because they were going North and that meant Stewart didn't have to deal with my move! It was the most horrific move of my life. And I have moved 7 times interstate in my adult life. They messed up the identifying of my property, they broke precious antiques, which now will have to be repaired, however, they LOST, I think stole a precious property, which they did not record on inventory, so I have no recourse to find my property since it's my word against theirs. It took 3 months for them to tell me, sorry we cannot do anything else. I don't even know if all my property was delivered. On top of all of this I paid an extra $900+ for overage because my load was not correctly measured. Very very disappointed. I have no course to pursue other than suing, but since I am dealing with treatment for breast cancer, I am unable at this time. read more

Stewart Moving and Storage moved a new neighbor into a house on my street in Fairfax on Friday, June 5. As I was going out to work I had difficulty getting past the large truck and actually marveled at how they had maneuvered it onto the small street. When I returned from work that evening they had gone for the day. I noticed immediately upon my return that my internet was not working, and put in a call to Verizon, who was not able to establish contact with the box outside my house. I then learned from my neighbor who had been outside mowing his lawn and seen the truck leave that the Stewart truck had clipped the wires to my Verizon box and actually ripped the box off of the house. I realize that Verizon is partially responsible for not having the wires high enough off of the road, but would also think that a driver of such a large truck should be more diligent on such a small street to be aware of wires crossing the road. I was without phone service, cable and internet until Wednesday, June 10. I wanted to email Stewart directly, but they are not forthcoming with an email address on their website, so I hope they see this. I also work in the moving industry, and would want to know if a similar thing happened on my watch. read more

I wanted to wait to write this review, hoping that this company would make things right after such a bad experience. The day of our move, the truck broke down on the way to our home and there was minimal communication until after our appointment window had passed. Upon arrival to our home, crew didn't put any floor coverings down in our hardwood floors, scratched and scuffed multiple spots along our stairwell, along with leaving multiple finger smudges. When this was pointed out, one of the crew members laughed and said they'd get it out later. One item wasn't delivered at all and it's apparently disappeared. My conversations with the customer service manager were extremely frustrating and when I asked for a supervisor, I was completely ignored and never got another response from her. We submitted a claims for all of the damages and lost item and have been told it'll take weeks to investigate despite us having pictures on the day of and a crew member stating someone would come the following week to evaluate the damages. I have worked with several moving companies and this was by far my absolute worst experience. You're better off with a groupon deal. read more

Military move so we didn't know what to expect... we were pleasantly surprised when these 3 walked in the door. They got right to work on packing. They didn't stop until we asked them numerous times to take a break. Got them some pizza and drinks. (Which never hurts especially when strangers are packing up your crap!)The whole time they just kept trying to work. Gotta admit I love hard workers but these guys don't quit. The whole time they packed they answered any questions we had... anything they thought was high value they would ask and wrap up like they would pack their own homes. Perfect. I really can't rave about these guys enough man. Everything was packed with care. Had a great time goofing around and joking all while everything got packed and done nicely. Movers were extremely slow and took twice the amount of time that was quoted by the company, and even after all that extra time the job wasn't completed and had to be done by myself and family the next day in order to be out of the house on time. They were not careful with boxes clearly marked fragile and many glasses and frames arrived broken. I got very little help from the company after the experience was so poor, I would never use them again and wouldn't recommend them to anyone for any service. read more

I'm doing a household goods move through the military, so I had no choice in movers. They showed up around 0930 and didn't leave until 12 hours later. TWELVE HOURS. I seriously have no idea why it took so long, I don't have a lot of stuff since it's just me. I had done the pre-move inspection over the phone, told them it was a 3 story townhouse and they sent two men to pack. Only two! Royal Hawaiian Movers sent five for 750 square foot condo when I left Hawaii... One guy spent a lot of time killing my downstairs bathroom. Maybe 1 hour total bathroom time. The other guy killed my upstairs bathroom and didn't turn on the toilet water to flush (I had turned it off because it had a small leak). So, toilet full of poo and toilet paper. Classy. I don't have my items on the other end yet, but I will update if it's a mess. read more

Hired Stewart Moving & Storage (SMS), Jacksonville, FL to move me from Florida to Virginia in October 2016. I stressed to the salesman, Gregg Merritt, that because I'm disabled and live alone, even though it was expensive, I had no choice but to include the "packing" and "unpacking" options. I live in pain and spend most days in bed, so having to be up and about for long periods would be a stresser. Merritt told me that my move should be about 4-5 hours. When my items arrived in VA, ONLY THE TRUCK DRIVER ARRIVED to deliver my 4200 lb of items. Part of the move process that the leader of the move team in Florida did in his paperwork was keeping note of the box numbers and it's contents. Because the SMS driver was alone, I had to do the box confirmation log. It took the truck driver--the only person they sent--9 hours and I had to stay out of bed, in pain, and because of the paperwork I had to process, I could not take my pain medication. In addition, no one showed up to unpack, so my items stayed in boxes. When I did open them, I found broken lamps in boxes with shoes, my clothes crushed under shoes and artwork. In tall garment boxes, none of my clothes were hung up!! They had been taken off hangers and thrown into the boxes, all wrinkled and crushed, including leather and sequined garments and handbags. I called Merritt who said he would have the office send me a refund check for pack/unpack. I never received it. December 2016 supervisor S. Cordero wrote in an email that he was sorry for all of the problems in move, I should submit paperwork and my claims would be processed "expeditiously." Today SMS claims that I was never charged for pack/unpack, that I owe them money, they never promised more than one staff in VA. (How can they admit that?) I contend why did Cordero not state in his Dec. email, 2 full months after my move and more than enough time to review my contract, that I didn't pay for "pack/unpack?" In fact, he says I will be compensated. If I didn't pay or I owed them anything, that statement would have been made right away? I contend how can I all of a sudden now owe SMS money when they industry policy is they won't take items off the truck until my contract was paid in full?!! Finally, where is the money they owe me for the same work I had no choice but to do on my delivery in VA, that was the same task done by the SMS team leader in FL??? SMS will not answer any of these questions, but throws up smoke with cagey accounting discounts they claim I received--which are all untrue. read more
