I used Moxie Movers about 4 1/2 yrs ago. I had stuff in storage for over a year and the storage place had a mouse problem. So much of my stuff was ruined, I spent 4 days throwing stuff out before the movers came. The guys from Moxie were totally professional about it though. It eas so bad in there with dead mice, feces, pee, etc that they could have booked it. But since I had a mattress cover on my mattress, I took it off so they could avoid touching the mouse pee, etc. My sofa was standing on its end and other furniture didn't get messed with, so they got right to work. They wore gloves and moved all the rest of my stuff as well. They were very efficient, polite, helpful and fast! I'm getting ready to move again and will be getting a quote from the first. read more

We had a recent great experience with a Moxie Movers team! I had put down a deposit in advance, got an email confirmation of my reservation, a phone call from the crew chief, and text check in to start the day. It felt good to know we weren't being forgotten (I've heard too many horror stories of movers not showing up). They helped us unload a rental truck into a self-storage facility. The truck was very full and they had to work quite hard ferrying items deep into the bowels of the facility, deftly navigating an elevator and longish hallway. They fit everything into the unit with Tetris-like precision. No space was wasted and yet nothing seemed overly crammed or in jeopardy of future damage. Pro Tips: They do take credit cards but there is a processing fee so cash seems preferred. They did not have dollies/hand trucks with them but we used the ones we had rented from U-Haul as well as what the storage facility had on hand. read more

Remember when you were in college and you'd call your friends to help you move? This is Moxie Movers. Except my move involved moving my whole home into a POD across country. The first mixup occurred via email when they told me they didn't Pack only moved. This was after I put down a deposit. A second email corrected that, but most reviews didn't mention packing so I packed half my house myself. No attic and only 3 boxes in shed were left. I am a single, senior. It was August and hot. Next, I became concerned after watching many YouTube videos that my furniture wouldn't fit in the largest POD. Jesse Whitacre came over one day to advise me on whether or not it would be adequate. He suggested I get rid of at least 8 boxes, a desk chair, two dressers and a brand new $700 stationary bike. I got rid of them all. By the end of the job the POD wasn't completely full (not good, items can shift) and I had lost items I didn't want to part with. As a note, I didn't move any of my major appliances. Moving day arrived and they were 30 minutes late. Packing wasn't their strong suit, they were right. At the end I watched exhausted as they packed my China closet with Crystal and fragile China into a 4' tall, taped bottom box throwing in my heavy cast iron pots in the same box. I really felt they just didn't care. I don't know even wrapped in paper how any of those glasses will arrive unbroken. At one point, I opened my handbag and there were several remotes and cables to various electronics?!???!! No clue why they were just thrown in my purse instead of packed with the item they went to. But the worst part was a few weeks later when I went to add a box to the POD prior to shipping. All of these photos show heavy items without ratchet straps. I bought straps, in fact we had straps left. As you can see in the photos; there is room left but worse the ratchet straps are behind the boxes. Who on earth packs a POD this way? These guys were recommended to us by a neighbor. I had never heard of them. They turned out to be awesome. Super kind and super quick! They got the job done and they got it done fast. Granted, we only had them move our large pieces of furniture and we took care of the rest. But they were finished within only a couple hours, no damage done to either house nor any of our belongings. I've moved many times with moving companies. This was the worst experience ever. The owner is a NASTY jerk who takes basically no responsibility for his business or their actions. I was literally told by Jesse "sometimes we do everything right and things still get damaged and it's not our fault"!!! What? You are literally hired to NOT damage anything and get it from point A to point B without any damage. Sadly for me I have tons of damage. To start the way they unpacked into my new home was impossible for me alone to function in, I am physically disabled, something I made all of them aware of prior to this. Casey was who came to do the quote and he came after I complained. He kept saying "sorry we made your life a living hell". But no realistic offer was made to fix it. He offered to take everything out of my office and put the rugs down that were supposed to be there, just him. Some of my equipment weighs more than 2 guys should be lifting and they had packed it front to back to only have a sliver to get through. One guy could never tackle that without tons more damages. Then Jesse entered the picture after Casey began calling me names in email and text. (I have all the proof as I'm hoping to potentially take them to court but it's a lot of energy and I would have rather resolved it with them as Jesse has even said this is an insurance issue but he won't give me the insurance information to make that happen). Jesse steps in and comes over, while we did not agree on everything they damaged some of it was very obviously them he was "willing" to fix or have fixed. We are talking 2 items he paid to have fixed (more were damaged and need a professional) and he decided he would come do some fixes. He asked and was told the trim color of the freshly painted trim - color extra white. He shows up with no paint, he wants to "mix his own" except it's EXTRA white - it's a specialty mix by Sherwin Williams that has extra properties in it. He mixed blacks and browns into white, doesn't fix the wood itself just paints the dings... which are now grayish brown standing out big time from the extra white trim. He also decided to move a vintage rug in the guest room with everything on top of it and now it's stretched out, but on top of that he threw tons of stuff around in the room and onto the bed which had clean bedding on it - including an art piece I was working on that was in a box on another piece of furniture. I found pieces of it even on the floor behind the bed. About half of them were chipped on corners. His response - you didn't have it packaged properly - why would I package an art piece I was actively working on and who the hell throws it and then says it's your fault. I then kicked him out and he proceeded to fake wash his brush out and fling whitish paint all over my vintage kitchen. And the windows and my dishes. I'm still finding the spray. Since then I offered to settle this and I was then attacked, called names, etc. I'm sure this there way of making me not pursue it. But regardless if I sue them, actually settle with their insurance like it should have been done or whatever I wanted to be very clear how absolutely nasty this company is. Now let's just talk about the things they did knowing I was disabled: large items were precariously placed so I could not move them without hurting myself. A good example they took apart my office chair and it was balanced without the wheels back on, on steps in my office very oddly against the wall. If it fell a lot would've broken and it could've definitely hurt me. A bin for parts of my adjustable base bed was purposefully hidden behind all the bins they could fit in a room and then when asked where the bin that was very specifically told I needed because of my disability was they just shrugged and had "no idea". They broke several items in my craft room to the point of unusable. I think the fact that this company is purposefully hurting someone who is disabled by hiding things that are absolutely necessary, purposefully breaking things and not taking responsibility. Then in the end it was fine for them to make a ridiculously low offer but when I offered to settle with them I was called nasty names and they acted as if I was being completely ridiculous to want my items replaced or repaired. It's all well documented but as a disabled person you have to fight so many battles every day. This shouldn't be happening at all. Name calling to clients is absolutely unacceptable and most importantly they believe if they break things it's not their fault or responsibility and they will not actually help you resolve it. This is one of the poorest experiences and if you are remotely disabled you need to run away from them as they will purposefully work to make your life worse! read more

Guys were nice and on time but appeared to be in a rush to finish. Both location's doors were left tied open. I was charged an unexpected travel fee on the final invoice. It was $83.33 which was not quoted when I inquired about any fees. When I asked about it they copied and pasted the original email, which never mentioned that. Had an unpleasant experience with two of the movers. They had parked the moving van in the middle of our one way street, blocking home owners from reaching their homes. When asked how long they would be parked, one of the two said they would be parked for 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours to unload. I told them they could not block the street for that long and they needed to move to the side. I was told they weren't moving, they had a job to do. I asked the one most unpleasant mover for his name and he refused, and the other fellow started making up names. Our neighborhood has no issue with large trucks parked to the side of the street if they have followed city guidelines ("no parking signs/moving" posted 7-10 days before move so truck can park to the side). This happens all the time on our street. After letting them know the police had been called, the truck moved to the side of the street to finish unloading. The police were informed and did not come by. I have no knowledge of their actual moving skills but I will never use this company because of these two unpleasant (2 out of maybe 6 young men) employees. I moved on October 19 (2019). This was the second time in two years that I used the company. The first move went REALLY well...except that one of the guys was trying to take apart a three tiered glass TV stand. The guy thought the top was magnetically held in when in fact it needed to be unbolted. The shelving unit exploded into thousands of pieces of glass. Moxie Movers made it right IMMEDIATELY...found the current price of the unit and I was able to get another one delivered. Rest of the move was without incident and I was really happy. Now it's two years later and I moved again. I hired Moxie again. The guys they sent over were so fast and efficient. They wasted no time at all. I watched the clock and at the end of the move they didn't begin to try to overcharge. Not a thing was damaged and everything was where it was supposed to be. They could not have been any more professional and friendly. My wife and I hired Moxie to move us from the Willow Lawn area to N. Chesterfield. We had a two bedroom cape style with a bonus upstairs room, laundry room, side porch and a shed. They damaged a dresser of mine. When I emailed the company to address it, they insisted upon coming to assess the damage in person, despite having sent pictures. The owner showed up and offered to fix the dresser. When I explained that I wasn't comfortable having a mover repair my furniture, he was very arrogant and said that was all he would do. I was really disappointed with my move. I selected them based on the rave reviews, but I must have hired a complete different crew. They showed up on time, but then told me they did not pack anything; they just move items. Thankfully, I had already packed quite a bit on my own, but I, of course, had to unpack to have boxes, so what I thought would be a one day move by them resulted in a one week move for me. I had a disassembled shelf unit and they took the shelves, but left the legs; I had a small disassembled table - they took the legs, but not the top. The worst part was they did not go through the house to determine what they were moving and were surprised when told my major appliances (refrigerator, washer and dryer) needed to be moved. They didn't leave room on the truck for my refrigerator and had to make an extra trip. When they determined that they would need an extra trip, they actually took items off the truck! Fortunately, the move wasn't very far, but it did probably cost me an extra hour - and they charge by the hour. They also didn't reassemble my bed correctly before leaving. If you plan to use them, I would advise that you go over the details to see what work they are planning to actually perform. This was a very frustrating experience for me. read more

A large crate & barrel sectional from our previous home did not fit in the new place, so they had to move the large chaise portion back into the truck and back in storage. These guys just finished moving me in and I'm super impressed. I got an email a few days before my scheduled Sat move to remind me. When the guys left their lot they also called with an ETA which was exactly on schedule. First of all, I had 3 guys and they were all super friendly and personable from start to finish. I was going to take some weird things in my own car (broom, vacuum etc) and they were like no we got it. Took about 2 1/2 hrs to move and didn't feel long at all. The guys worked their butts off the whole time and stayed upbeat and pleasant. They were very careful not to damage anything and even helped me figure out where I wanted everything to go. I used Professional movers for the first time and I'm never going back! I got a recommendation from yelp and I was moving from a three bedroom home to a two bedroom apartment. I just really did not want to carry my huge couch or any of my other furniture. I planned to do this as cheap and efficiently as possible so I packed up all of my own belongings so the movers didn't move any boxes or anything for me just my heavy furniture. They do have a minimum which was super worth it to me to just have them move my furniture so it only took them about an hour to do everything for me. They were really nice really efficient and very capable of completing the job. They packaged up all of my furniture in moving blankets and not a single thing was damaged. If you're thinking about calling this team to get you moved, and you care about your stuff, think no more just do it. These guys make it look easy although of course they are getting in an hours-long workout. They are kind, courteous, motivated, and respectful of you and your belongings. The only thing you need to do is be prepared. Have your stuff packed properly and don't wait til last minute. Remember they're movers not trash-haulers. Start packing boxes a couple months before your move. Pack and label three or four boxes each day and stack them and before you know it you'll have everything ready. I won't get into details but I've been going through THE most stressful time of my life and these guys brought a smile to my face. They moved me after a breakup in 2011 and they just moved again me two days ago. They don't drive you crazy with a bunch of corporate schtick because they are local and small, but mighty. I should have written this 2 YRS AGO! TO BE CLEAR: Moxie moved me Feb. of 2012. I recently recommended them to someone and I thought I had written a review for them, apparently I did not. Better late than never, right? That being said: I was a first-time home buyer, and I was so nervous about the closing! I thought something might not go right, and I might not close on the day I was supposed to. I called Jesse to see what their policy was on something like this. He was great about it! He calmed me right down and said not to worry, saying we will just move the date. One less stress! I also loved that there were no hidden fees, insurance is built in to the hourly rate. Also, nothing was due up front. I gave them a check when they were done. (They may have changed this, I don't know. But would understand if they did.) The 3 guys showed up on time (maybe 15 mins late, but I remember it being pretty on point). They just started hauling boxes 6, 7 at a time! It was crazy! Not chatty, just moved! They carefully wrapped my TV, chest of drawers, etc. Brought all their own supplies for that. (Heavy-duty blankets and such). They even helped us load stuff into our vehicles, food and such. I was moving only 15 minutes away. From a loft to a townhouse. So not a ton of furniture, but they were done in about 2 - 2.5 hours. This included putting items in rooms as I instructed. I was very excited to book these movers at the last minute. They came highly recommended. They sent three guys. They were exhausted looking when they arrived. It was very hot and this was their second move for the day. Two of the guys, Nolan and Skykar were very nice and hardworking. The third guy was extremely rude and made me feel very uncomfortable. He snapped at me a couple of times. I left the owner a voicemail to explain the problem but never heard back. I'm a realtor and live off referrals. I'm guessing he doesn't care.
