These guys deserve way more than five stars! My boyfriend and I hired Irish Ox Moovers when we moved in together in September 2017, so this review is a little late, but we've been meaning to write one because we had such a great experience with these movers. They were so incredibly efficient and professional, and very nice and down to earth guys, all of which made our move a totally stress-free experience. We moved from two one-bedrooms into one two-bedroom, which they were happy to accommodate. I have several pieces of large, nicely finished furniture and several fragile pieces, and the movers took excellent care in disassembling everything, packing everything up with padding/wrap, moving it all, and reassembling it without any issues. Everything was in perfect condition when it arrived at the new place, nothing was broken or damaged in any way, and nothing was lost. They took meticulous care of our stuff as if it was their own. When we got to the new place, they removed the railing on our front porch and put a ramp from the truck straight through to the front door, for ease of moving furniture and to save time, and then they reassembled the railing afterwards. When moving the big furniture inside, they were very careful not to hit the walls, avoiding scuff marks. They placed everything exactly where we wanted it. We were very impressed at how two guys could make what is obviously extremely hard work look effortless due to how great they were. Besides being clearly very experienced and skilled, with tons of professional moving equipment, they were very cognizant of moving us as quickly as possible. We offered them pizza and cold drinks once we got to the new place, but, although we insisted, they chose not to take a break while they were on the clock since we would be paying by the hour. The cost was very affordable and was definitely worth every penny plus more. Moving can be very stressful but these guys really eliminated that stress for us and made our experience easy, allowing us to focus on the excitement of moving into a new home. Rick and his team were awesome with our move (2BR apt. to a 3BR). Arrived early, packed up our place lighting fast, delivered and unloaded it at the new one - all in a few hours. On pickup, I was super impressed with how many commercial-grade tools and supplies they had to make sure we got everything there quick and safe, no attempts at time-wasting or cutting corners. On drop off, they were very attentive and ensured everything was rebuilt and put in the room we wanted it, and it went just as fast as the loading (this time even with stairs included). When the job was done everything was spotless - no shrink wrap leftovers or the usual moving debris. Overall, I would recommend the Irish Ox crew far and away over any of these other movers. Yelp put my info out to several chain companies during my inquiry and they all had ridiculous quotes looking to send a bunch of guys and nickel and diming every part of the process. Meanwhile, Rick and Irish Ox Moovers just came with a box truck and years of experience and knocked my move out effortlessly and at more than a fair price. Stop letting these big chains finesse you and put your support behind hard-working, good folks that care about your business and well-being. We tried to use these guys after selling our house in VA back in November 2018, but their schedule was just too busy - they're that good! So when we moved out of our rental in August and into our home in NC I called them first. Rick (the owner) responded quickly, and luckily this time we were flexible on the date so it worked out great! Rick and Steve (I believe) were fantastic! They walked through the house with me to get a lay of the land, then got right to work. I provided a list of items we needed them to move, and then they even took some additional items to pack the truck tightly. They worked efficiently from 9 AM in VA until 10:30 PM in NC - these guys were great! I really can not say enough how much the stress faded away halfway through that moving day as I saw how efficient they were being and how much care they were taking with our belongings. They wrapped just about everything with either plastic or moving blankets - no mover has ever done that. We have moved numerous times in the last 15 years, and these guys seemed to never take a break until they were driving the highway down to NC. If you want movers that treat your belongings as carefully as you do, then look no further than Irish Ox Moovers. Rick and his team wrapped items with protective blankets and also shrink-wrapped the upholstered furniture, which helped keep everything cleaner. When they got to the new house, they rolled out a long red carpet, to keep from tracking dirt in, as they brought everything inside. They have the most fitting name, too, because these guys are STRONG! We have several very large and heavy pieces (heavier than a piano - in fact, Rick commented that 2 of our pieces of furniture were the heaviest he has experienced in his lengthy career) but they moved these strategically in no time! Like oxen, their strength and drive didn't seem to flag, even towards the end of our 10 hour move. We were truly amazed! Lastly, no review would be complete without mentioning how truly nice these fellows were: friendly, warm, and very professional. Irish Ox Moovers moved our household effects (contents of a 5 BR home plus garage) from a local storage facility to our new home. They were punctual, courteous, intelligent and efficient! Two guys did more work faster than the five guys we hired to put our goods into storage. Rick assessed our 3 storage lockers and gave me an estimate (2 days), and was accurate, completing the job as planned. He took care to prepare doorways and tricky stairways, with padding or painter's tape, as needed. In spite of best efforts, there was a small scratch in our hardwood flooring. Within days, he was back with a color kit to fix it. All of our interactions with Rick and his associate were professional, clear, and honest. These guys work hard and deliver on their promises. Wish we had hired them for our move into storage, instead of the larger franchise company. If you have a choice between Irish Ox Moovers and another company, go with Irish Ox. I had a 200% positive experience with Irish Ox. I wanted to move at relatively short notice (a few weeks) & called multiple local companies. Some didn't respond, some couldn't fit me in, some had outrageous quotes, but Irish Ox contacted me promptly, discussed my needs & provided a fair quote, & then squeezed me into their busy schedule as a second move in one day! They were prompt, polite, friendly, hardworking, & so efficient that they finished ahead of their time estimate, which not only saved me money & time, but also clearly demonstrates their integrity. Irish Ox Movers were great! A two man team arrived at my townhouse right on time. They started working right away and were very efficient! I was not taking all of my things so they were attentive when I specified which items to take and which items to leave. We recently used Irish Ox Moovers and they were awesome!! This was our first move with them. They take excellent care of the furniture. On our best pieces, they wrapped them in plastic and used thick pads. Nothing got damaged. I can't say that on other moves that we have been through. I only have great things to say about them. We could not have asked for a smoother moving experience! Rick and Steve were beyond courteous, efficient, and meticulous in their work. We were very impressed with their entire process of moving our boxes and furniture, including disassembly and reassembly. Irish Ox Moovers did an excellent job for us! They were professional, fast and very careful with our things and houses we were moving in and out of. All furniture had a moving blanket over it and then wrapped in plastic wrap. Corners of door frames were protected. The day we moved was 95 degrees and very high humidity. They were doing a whole house move for us-10 hours, and they never slowed down! Reasonably priced, nothing broken and move completed in 1 day. These guys are excellent! They were very careful with all of my furniture and large items, and very efficient getting them down 3 flights of stairs!
