These guys deserve way more than five stars! My boyfriend and I hired Irish Ox Moovers when we moved in together in September 2017, so this review is a little late, but we've been meaning to write one because we had such a great experience with these movers. They were so incredibly efficient and professional, and very nice and down to earth guys, all of which made our move a totally stress-free experience. We moved from two one-bedrooms into one two-bedroom, which they were happy to accommodate. I have several pieces of large, nicely finished furniture and several fragile pieces, and the movers took excellent care in disassembling everything, packing everything up with padding/wrap, moving it all, and reassembling it without any issues. Everything was in perfect condition when it arrived at the new place, nothing was broken or damaged in any way, and nothing was lost. They took meticulous care of our stuff as if it was their own. When we got to the new place, they removed the railing on our front porch and put a ramp from the truck straight through to the front door, for ease of moving furniture and to save time, and then they reassembled the railing afterwards. When moving the big furniture inside, they were very careful not to hit the walls, avoiding scuff marks. They placed everything exactly where we wanted it. We were very impressed at how two guys could make what is obviously extremely hard work look effortless due to how great they were. Besides being clearly very experienced and skilled, with tons of professional moving equipment, they were very cognizant of moving us as quickly as possible. We offered them pizza and cold drinks once we got to the new place, but, although we insisted, they chose not to take a break while they were on the clock since we would be paying by the hour. The cost was very affordable and was definitely worth every penny plus more. Moving can be very stressful but these guys really eliminated that stress for us and made our experience easy, allowing us to focus on the excitement of moving into a new home. We would highly recommend Irish Ox Moovers to anyone looking for a moving company in the area! read more

We tried to use these guys after selling our house in VA back in November 2018, but their schedule was just too busy - they're that good! So when we moved out of our rental in August and into our home in NC I called them first. Rick (the owner) responded quickly, and luckily this time we were flexible on the date so it worked out great! Rick and Steve (I believe) were fantastic! They walked through the house with me to get a lay of the land, then got right to work. I provided a list of items we needed them to move, and then they even took some additional items to pack the truck tightly. They worked efficiently from 9 AM in VA until 10:30 PM in NC - these guys were great! I really can not say enough how much the stress faded away halfway through that moving day as I saw how efficient they were being and how much care they were taking with our belongings. They wrapped just about everything with either plastic or moving blankets - no mover has ever done that. We have moved numerous times in the last 15 years, and these guys seemed to never take a break until they were driving the highway down to NC. So thank you Rick and Steve for making a very stressful and LONG day, that much easier! read more

If you want movers that treat your belongings as carefully as you do, then look no further than Irish Ox Moovers. Rick and his team wrapped items with protective blankets and also shrink-wrapped the upholstered furniture, which helped keep everything cleaner. When they got to the new house, they rolled out a long red carpet, to keep from tracking dirt in, as they brought everything inside. They have the most fitting name, too, because these guys are STRONG! We have several very large and heavy pieces (heavier than a piano - in fact, Rick commented that 2 of our pieces of furniture were the heaviest he has experienced in his lengthy career) but they moved these strategically in no time! Like oxen, their strength and drive didn't seem to flag, even towards the end of our 10 hour move. We were truly amazed! Lastly, no review would be complete without mentioning how truly nice these fellows were: friendly, warm, and very professional. I highly recommend using Irish Ox Moovers for your next move!!! read more

Irish Ox Moovers moved our household effects (contents of a 5 BR home plus garage) from a local storage facility to our new home. They were punctual, courteous, intelligent and efficient! Two guys did more work faster than the five guys we hired to put our goods into storage. Rick assessed our 3 storage lockers and gave me an estimate (2 days), and was accurate, completing the job as planned. He took care to prepare doorways and tricky stairways, with padding or painter's tape, as needed. In spite of best efforts, there was a small scratch in our hardwood flooring. Within days, he was back with a color kit to fix it. All of our interactions with Rick and his associate were professional, clear, and honest. These guys work hard and deliver on their promises. Wish we had hired them for our move into storage, instead of the larger franchise company. If you have a choice between Irish Ox Moovers and another company, go with Irish Ox. You won't regret it! read more

I had a 200% positive experience with Irish Ox. I wanted to move at relatively short notice (a few weeks) & called multiple local companies. Some didn't respond, some couldn't fit me in, some had outrageous quotes, but Irish Ox contacted me promptly, discussed my needs & provided a fair quote, & then squeezed me into their busy schedule as a second move in one day! They were prompt, polite, friendly, hardworking, & so efficient that they finished ahead of their time estimate, which not only saved me money & time, but also clearly demonstrates their integrity. I have experienced first hand other moving companies moving slowly & taking frequent breaks to stretch out the time paid, but Irish Ox was all work, no play. They were also careful with my antiques and the floors in each place. I will definitely use their services again & highly recommend them! read more

AMAZING JOB. On time, Great Price and Fantastic results. With a VERY pregnant wife and 2 year baby child in tow, making this move was much different than any other move before. Irish Ox showed up more than prepared, took a look around and got to work immediately. They had everything imaginable in their truck to protect out belongings, and took great care for the items we so valued. From boxes, to furniture, to our large baby grand piano, they were a 1 stop shop for our important move. Insured, professional and polite, we were more than satisfied from the moment they responded to my request for an estimate, to the moment they drove away! As a local Realtor, I am asked for references for such services all the time. From here on out, I am only recommending Irish Ox Moovers. Thanks again to Rick & Crew!!!! Joseph read more

Second time in consecutive years using Rick and his team to move apartments, and both times have gone smoothly. They are friendly, communicative, professional, and don't play around with your time when it comes to moving. Him and the team are a well-oiled machine and cleared out our old place in a flash, and even beat me to the new place to start unloading. Additionally, they use professional equipment (with mattress bags etc. available for a cheap extra price) and disassembled/reassembled furniture (bed frames etc.) as needed. Overall, Rick advertises the decades of moving experience, and it absolutely shows. The value for service with Irish Ox compared to many movers on Yelp is head and shoulders above, and they will be my first choice again whenever the time comes. read more

Irish Ox Movers were great! A two man team arrived at my townhouse right on time. They started working right away and were very efficient! I was not taking all of my things so they were attentive when I specified which items to take and which items to leave. When we arrived at my new apartment, they laid out my new rug and placed my furniture exactly where I asked. The whole experience was stress-free! I would definitely recommend them to others! Also, their time estimate was accurate and their prices are clearly stated when you first make contact. Additionally, each time I communicated with them via text, they were very responsive. Overall, a great experience. read more

We recently used Irish Ox Moovers and they were awesome!! This was our first move with them. They take excellent care of the furniture. On our best pieces, they wrapped them in plastic and used thick pads. Nothing got damaged. I can't say that on other moves that we have been through. I only have great things to say about them. Fast, efficient, professional, courteous and very reasonable. We had marked the boxes as to which room they should go in and that's exactly where they ended up! This move couldn't have gone any better. We highly recommend them and we will definitely use them again. read more

Rick and his helper (forgive me I do not remember his name) were fantastic! They showed when they said they were going to, they made a very stressful time less stressful. As a matter of fact, it was the least stressful part of the process. We could not believe how professional and conscientious they were. They took great care of all of our valuables, and personal belongings. We would recommend Iris Ox Moovers without hesitation if you need a great moving company! Thank you Rick, we really appreciate all of your assistance with our move! Much respect! Joseph and Juan Schiavone read more

These guys are awesome. I can't say enough good things about Irish ox movers. From start to finish, the entire experience was smooth, professional, and stress free. The movers were punctual, hardworking, respectful, and extremely careful with our belongings. We could not have asked for a smoother moving experience! Rick and Steve were beyond courteous, efficient, and meticulous in their work. We were very impressed with their entire process of moving our boxes and furniture, including disassembly and reassembly. They had no issues with moving our furniture, including a king size bed set, up two flights of stairs; absolutely nothing was damaged. They even brought their own floor runners and door jamb pads. I definitely recommend their excellent services and would without a doubt use them again for future moves! read more

Rick and Steven were outstanding! This is my 8th time at a move between myself and my kids, but the first time I have outsourced to a professional. I do not regret my choice. They did not so much as mark a wall in either house. Nothing was broken, nothing was damaged, and they were friendly while working very efficiently to complete this local move in 6 hours. All of this while putting up with our chattiness and my "observing". The price was more than fair and there were no surprise charges. Can't say enough positive about this experience! read more

Irish Ox Moovers did an excellent job for us! They were professional, fast and very careful with our things and houses we were moving in and out of. All furniture had a moving blanket over it and then wrapped in plastic wrap. Corners of door frames were protected. The day we moved was 95 degrees and very high humidity. They were doing a whole house move for us-10 hours, and they never slowed down! Reasonably priced, nothing broken and move completed in 1 day. Rick and his worker are excellent and we would highly recommend them! read more

I just used this company for the second time in the past year. The moving crew was prompt, careful, and friendly. They packed the truck with padding to protect all of my fragile kitchenware and electronics, and everything arrived at the new house in the same condition it was when it left the old apartment. It can be intimidating trying to decide on a mover when there are so many out there, but if you're looking for a quality experience at a reasonable price, call Irish Ox Moovers. I know I will for my next move. read more

These guys are excellent! They were very careful with all of my furniture and large items, and very efficient getting them down 3 flights of stairs! None of my items showed any signs of damage from the move, and these guys are lightning quick! What I was dreading as being a long couple of stressful hours turned out to be a world-class move in record time that was done by true professionals. I would highly recommend Irish Ox Moovers and will definitely be using them again the next time I move. read more

These guys were awesome! Professional, on time, and communicative. They were able to fit me in with a week notice and moved my two bedroom apartment up three flights of steps without complaint or error. They didn't damage any furniture or any of the walls and were impressively quick. The process was effortless, and I would absolutely use them again, as well as recommend them to family and friends. Moving is always a stressful event, but they made it simple. Thank you! read more

They move smart, fast, and very efficiently with all the right gear to make things work. Rick had my bed disassembled and reassembled in lightening speed. They could do a great side business in furniture assembly. Their estimate was lower than many other movers but I don't think anyone could have done a better job and they met their estimate exactly. Good communication alerting me on ETA and even got here earlier. I highly recommend them and will use them again. read more

Rick did an excellent job of accommodating our move. His crew is professional and displayed excellent care for our furnishings while transporting them. They charged a flat rate for the entire move and spared us the process of haggling for more payments to deliver the goods upon arrival. Rick's professionalism alleviated the normal anxiety that is typical of the moving process. The first option for contacting a moving service in the Richmond area. read more
