This company is NOT registered with the Commonwealth of Virginia as a LLC Moving Company, nor any other business entity, since December of 2023., nor is he registered with the Better Business Bureau. However he ('Brandon') is operating and pretending as such. He will generate a square invoice (based on your reques) and expect a hefty deposit before proceeding. Without giving you any contract, details or information about who he is; his services, his crew members, his licensures, insurances, liabilities and guarantees. There is a reason this "company" doesn't have a website, and promptly answers the phone on 'his cellphone'. Please do your research and due diligence before making any financial decisions about 'hiring' this person as you will NOT win in civil litigation. It's odd that the negative reviews seem to be suppressed on Yelp but I wish I had seen them before booking this company. I had high hopes for B Briggs & Co but was sorely disappointed by my experience and cannot in good faith recommend them at this time. I hired this company to move a one bedroom apartment into a one bedroom condo. I found the company through Yelp and confirmed an 8-10 am time slot on a Friday morning. Brandon, who I presume to be the owner, sent an invoice shortly after booking through Yelp which required a $100 deposit to reserve. The invoice stated that included in my service would be 2 movers for a minimum of 2 hours, a 17' truck, dollies/furniture equipment and gas/mileage. The service was to begin at 9am. On the day of the move, Brandon sends a message through Yelp at 8:25 am stating that they're running behind but should arrive no later than 9:30 am. At 9:34 am, I get a message that they were held up getting the truck and are 25 minutes out. At 10 am, Brandon calls to say that they're outside of my building but we quickly realize that they are at the wrong location. They seem to have misread the reservation and showed up at the new residence, which is 30 minutes from the old residence. The movers finally arrive at 10:30 am - 1.5 hours after the agreed start time - in a 10' uhaul truck with no dollies or furniture equipment. It takes them about 1.5 hours to get my apartment loaded and then they say they're going to make a stop for refreshments before coming to my new place. Several times during the unloading, I look around and they're nowhere to be found, or on the phone. They finally finish unloading shortly after 2 pm and Brandon states that he's sending an invoice for the total service, which is close to $450. The professional thing to do would be to offer a discount for the delay, but he does not offer any type of concession and instead I have to bring it up. In the end, I paid over $400 for a move that would have been quicker had I rented my own truck. I think this company has potential but unfortunately, I don't plan to ever use them again. read more

Takeaway: I wholehearted recommend using B. Briggs & Co for your moving needs and services. Brandon and his team are some of the most tenacious men with a great attitude and can-do spirit. They are a very cost-effective service (vs. some of the other EXPENSIVE big moving companies) and will go ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure your move is done right. I cannot recommend them enough! What happened: I reached out to Brandon to ask him help me move from Virginia to Georgia. This was an arduous task because he was going to be packing up a 5 bedroom house including more than 10+ pieces of large furniture/appliances. On top of that, this included a 10 hour drive (20 hours roundtrip for Brandon and team). So how did he respond? He quoted me a price that was 60%+ lower than ANY moving company in the Richmond, Virginia area. Then he and his teammate showed up in the morning this past weekend, spent 5+ hours packing up the entire truck in a meticulous and careful fashion, then drove it straight to Georgia. They unpacked everything and placed it into the correct rooms in the new house. I could not be happier. Their grit and perseverance is unmatched. But what I really commend Brandon for is his positive attitude and resilient spirit. There was not a single complaint the entire time. Even though he spent all day moving heavy, HEAVY furniture and appliances, he brushed it off as a free full body workout. People like him have a penchant for hard work and discipline - and that's what I really admire and why I would recommend him to anyone looking to move. Does not deserve one star! I do not recommend Brandon Briggs of B. Briggs & Co., LLC as a mover for large moves. He has no knowledge, nor care, of proper packing when it comes to moving a large quantity of items that cannot be collectively packed, antiques and collectibles. He has no respect for possessions nor his client's health! I had explained to him my rare situation of having a lot to move including antiques, collectibles, potted plants and loose items. He asked for pictures and I provided pictures, but I kept emphasizing that the pictures were not enough to show every single item. That would have taken me months to provide. I kept hearing from him I had no worries and he would get it done. The move was scheduled for June 4th at 10 am., and he was late due to him at last minute finally realizing his 17 ft truck would not be big enough and he had to find a bigger truck. An example of poor management in corresponding with his clients. I had explained to Brandon that I had two outer sheds. One was for my garden and yard equipment and the other I wanted my large tubs, boxes and specific furniture was to go into since two rooms of my home were having work done. I let him know that those certain items I wanted packed last, so they would come off first. He did not listen and packed things in tightly, only so they would fit. Another example of poor management. He does NOT listen to his client. When it was evident that it would be dark before we even got on the road, I told Brandon that I have night blindness and explained that I needed him to drive a constant 70 MPH where permitted, so that I could follow him safely. I also told him I have already had 3 heart attacks and had to avoid stress. He seemed to understand and again assured me. He did run out of space and I ended up having to leave behind a lot of my antiques including a set of brass andirons! Yet, as they were removing items, they had managed to pack items from a room I told them were NOT to be packed. The drive there was horrific! Not only did he race ahead of me where I had to drive at one point 85 MPH to catch up, but he also kept driving off the road, changed lanes recklessly, and rarely used turn signals. He disrespected traffic laws including the move over law. Several times I flashed my lights hoping he would stop to check why. Later, when I spoke up about this, he only fussed at me, thinking at one point that I had almost missed an exit. He insisted when I told him I had a hard time keeping up because he was speeding, he claimed he had made sure that I was behind him the whole time. There was also a downpour of rain and twice I had to slow down to even see where I was going. I was too terrified to drive, but he had gotten out of sight, and I was concerned for my belongings. Unloading my belongings, they had not packed what I wanted to come off first. Not one item got put into my garden shed. Items I wanted in the house were put into the shed. No matter how many times I tried to correct them, Brandon did not listen, but continued as he pleased. I also started noticing damages and brought this to his attention. He claimed items were damaged before he loaded. One item he damaged is an antique end table that now has a non-repairable hole in it. I was shocked to see one of my heavy crates come off the truck absolutely crushed. His immaturity could not handle my criticism and he told me I was upsetting him. He thought because he had the ability to talk calmly, that he was in control of the situation. He told me if I upset him one more time, he would leave my possessions on my lawn. Not long after his comment, he said something that contradicted what I had said. I corrected him, and again I commented that he does not know how to listen. He claimed that I had again upset him and told his partner everything else was to be left on the ground. What remained to be unloaded were boxes and my furniture that was to be loaded last; therefore to come off FIRST!! Many of the pieces of furniture are antiques and nothing that should have been left out on the wet ground. I stayed stressed through out the 3 hour drive. All of his words of assurance were nothing but lies! His loading my possessions carelessly, but just so they would fit is unacceptable. Then how he unloaded my most valuable furnishings last is totally suspicious! Driving reckless while transporting my possessions is totally unacceptable. Damages are repairable, except for the end table. Fortunately, the crate he carelessly packed had mostly non-breakable items in it and items can be replaced. My plants were mostly crushed but are coming back. I have tried to put this behind me, as the antiques he was not able to load that I had to leave behind, and I am trying to move forward. Others have convinced me to file this complaint. read more

Originally was told 152 after deposit of 100 which was the reason why we hired them because they were affordable. They ended up moving us very late around 5pm and when we reminded them days beforehand they said they had forgot and other jobs to fill. After the job was done they said they had went over an hour but I watched the clock to make sure they weren't going over 2 hours and each load they took 2 hours and nothing more. Ended up paying almost 400 dollars which was absolutely crazy to me. I should've looked at all the reviews beforehand. Be weary that you probably will pay way more than their quote. read more

Booked in advance for an out of state move. They were a no show for our reserved time and stated they were starting to unload someone else. We had to unload the truck ourselves since other movers were not available being last minute. This company really helped us with our move in that they were the right price and worked hard for us. Their issue was timing. They showed up six hours late to load our stuff... in the evening and working until midnight. They worked hard and we tipped well for that, but the day was a frustrating waiting game with us on the leading end of calling them to find out when we could possibly expect them. They had a job before ours that went later, and I get that, but when they moved our things cross states and still showed up on the other end seven hours late I think now it's more about poor planning. Again, all the contacts were from me: when will you be here? What time are we looking at? And it quickly stretched from four hours late to six to seven. Never any mention of "sorry for the inconvenience " which honestly would have gone a long way, as I know things happen. They worked hard and are very professional in that regard and we really appreciated finding a company with a price we could handle. But the other word to the wise if you use them is to be sure you have blankets to wrap your furniture and everything well packaged and protected. We were lax on that and their focus is more on getting it packed in and done than on care for items going in there. I would use them again but have much lower expectations. read more
